War of the Light Part I is the first installment of an epic trilogy focusing on characters that wield power from the Emotional Spectrum.

Intense multiplayer action in War of the Light Part I centers on a brand-new storyline inspired by DC Comics' vast Lantern lore and takes place in a re-envisioned Metropolis featuring nearby planets Mogo, the sentient Green Lantern Planet, and Ranx, the Sentient Sinestro Corps City. Players are introduced to Saint Walker and the Blue Lantern Corps in War of the Light Part I, and can expect to see additional Corps in future DLCs. This clash of the Lantern Corps has resulted in a new war of light, centered in Downtown Metropolis and nearby sentient planets Mogo and Ranx. Players must team up with Hal Jordan or Sinestro in high-level multiplayer adventures to investigate the strange colored mists that have descended upon Metropolis and are affecting the citizens' emotions.

War of the Light Part I includes:

WASHINGTON, Jan. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Every 45 minutes here in the United States, a child is rushed to the emergency room for injuries caused by televisions that are not appropriately secured.  To help prevent these TV tip-overs, Safe Kids Worldwide is launching National TV Safety Day on February 1, 2014, the day before Super Bowl XLVIII. As families prepare for this must see event, National TV Safety Day raises awareness about TV tip-overs and educates parents and caregivers on the simple things they can do to make their homes safer.

Safe Kids Worldwide and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® are teaming up to make homes safer by encouraging families to recycle their old TVs. As part of this effort, Safe Kids and CEA urge parents and caregivers to do quick checks of their homes and make sure all of their TVs are safely secured and placed properly. Larger and heavier cathode ray tube (CRT) TVs placed on dressers or high furniture can tip over and cause serious injuries, even death, if children climb onto the furniture.

"We're asking families to add one important, and perhaps overlooked, task to their Super Bowl prep," said Kate Carr, president and CEO of Safe Kids Worldwide. "Take a look around your home. Can the flat panel TV tip over? Have you moved the old CRT to a bedroom dresser where it rarely gets watched? On National TV Safety Day, recycle that old TV. Your home will be safer for it."

Safe Kids encourages families to include TV safety as part of their childproofing plans by placing CRT TVs on low, stable pieces of furniture. If families no longer use their CRT TV, consider recycling it. For families with flat panel televisions, Safe Kids recommends mounting TVs to the wall to reduce the risk of TV tip-overs.

'Digital Backpack' Launched to Solve Back Problems in Half of UK's Children

LONDON, January 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --

    A new 'digital backpack', called HappyBird, has been launched to help solve back
problems found in up to fifty per cent of children in the UK as a result of carrying heavy
schoolbags and books.

    The concept, which comprises of a tablet, Bluetooth pen, and carry case, weighs 94%
less than the average schoolbag - found to weigh two stone - and provides students with
access to millions of ebooks and apps to help improve learning performance.

    The launch follows a series of claims made by the NHS that 'back pain in secondary
school age children has been linked to heavy schoolbags and backpacks'. Sean McDougall, a
health expert at leading charity, BackCare, says: "Heavy backpacks are deforming children
as growing numbers suffer irreversible back problems."

    Available for GBP69, HappyBird is the brainchild of new tech start-up, Angel Digital,
who launched the product as part of its wider vision to enhance the learning experience of
young people and provide greater accessibility to tablets.

    HappyBird's 8-inch tablet runs on Google's Android operating system. Its Bluetooth pen
also connects pen and paper to the tablet in real-time, allowing the user to annotate work
and send messages to friends.

    The HappyBird tablet is also recyclable, so if a user accidentally damages the tablet,
they can send it to a local recycling bank where a tablet insurance voucher will be issued
towards the cost of a replacement.

December tape-out delivers another 1.5-2x performance and integration a generation ahead of the competition

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) today announced another industry first at 20nm with the tape-out of the first Virtex(R) UltraScale(TM) device. Based on the UltraScale architecture, and the industry's only high-end 20nm offering, the Virtex UltraScale family provides unprecedented levels of performance, system integration, and bandwidth for a wide range of applications. The UltraScale architecture delivers customers an ASIC-class advantage by deploying multiple ASIC techniques and a new routing architecture to remove next generation interconnect and scalability bottlenecks. The UltraScale architecture scales from 20nm planar through 16nm FinFET technologies and from monolithic through 3D ICs.

Based on TSMC's 20SoC process, the first Virtex UltraScale device, called the VU095, features 940k logic cells plus six integrated 150G Interlaken and four 100G Ethernet cores—equivalent to an additional 833k logic cells. This device also features 32.75 Gb/s transceivers capable of chip-to-chip and chip-to-optics interfaces as well as the world's first all programmable 28Gb/s backplane support.

The first commercial, entitled "Pony," shows Oscar at a child's birthday party that offers a pony ride. When his mom calls saying she needs money right away, Oscar desperately tries to get to a store to transfer money by jumping on the pony. The next two spots, "Confusion" and "Piece of Paper," promote Xoom's innovative text message service for the recipient.  Xoom will send a text message, free of charge, to the recipient with the transaction PIN number, so that the recipient has fast and easy access to their money without the risk of miscommunication and error.

"Confusion," features Oscar, on the phone with his mother, unsuccessfully trying to recite a long transaction number over the phone that she needs to pick up money.  The bad phone connection makes communicating the number clearly a challenge. 2014 Will be a Major Transition Year for Data Center Switching, According to Crehan Research

Key Ethernet, Fibre Channel and Infiniband Technologies to Surpass Major Milestone

SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- 2014 should be a year of major transition for three key data-center switch technologies, according to Crehan Research's most recently published Data Center Switch Long-Range Forecast Report. The firm forecasts that each technology will surpass the incumbent, becoming the majority of its respective segment (see accompanying figure). More specifically, Crehan projects that on an annual basis:

    --  In Infiniband, 56Gbps FDR will overtake 40Gbps QDR to comprise more than
        50% of shipments.
    --  In Fibre Channel, 16Gbps will exceed 8Gbps to comprise more than 50% of
        shipments.
    --  In Ethernet, 10 Gigabit will outstrip 1 Gigabit to comprise more than
        50% of shipments.

"10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) is finally on the verge of becoming the most popular data center switch port connection, after a long and sometimes rocky adoption curve," said Seamus Crehan, president of Crehan Research.  "And as 40GbE starts to ramp, we are still forecasting its adoption curve to look much better than that of 10GbE. This is already evidenced by the fact that recent data center switch introductions are really pushing the envelope on 40GbE port densities and economics," he added. In its year-ago Data Center Switch Long-Range Forecast Report (January 2013), Crehan illustrated that 40GbE would comprise close to one-third of all data center switch shipments by 2017, and this latest forecast maintains the same outlook.

In Fibre Channel, the report further shows that despite a more gradual ramp than that seen for 8Gbps, 16Gbps Fibre Channel adoption is picking up steam. Crehan predicts that it will become the majority Fibre Channel switch technology by 2014.

"In the Infiniband switch market, 56Gbps FDR is well on its way to becoming the next de facto high-speed interconnect, setting the foundation for upgrades to the forthcoming 100Gbps EDR products," Crehan said.

The SM15KPAN Series Delivers Overvoltage Protection in Relay Drives, Motors and Other Applications

TEMPE, Ariz., Jan. 27, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- ProTek Devices has introduced its SM15KPAN series of high-powered surface mount transient voltage suppressor (TVS) components to provide overvoltage circuit protection in applications that include relay drives and motor (start/stop) back electromagnetic fields (EMF). The components also deliver module lightning protection and secondary lightning protection for AC/DC power lines.

This series consists of various components, from SM15KPA17AN to SM15KPA220CAN, that make up the family. They have rated stand-off voltages from 17.0 to 220 volts to suit a wide variety of design requirements. The devices provide 15,000 watts of peak pulse power dissipation for a 10/1000 micro amps waveform. They are also compatible with IEC 61000-4-5 (surge): 48A, 8/20 micro amps - L3 (line-ground), L4 (line-line) and L1 (power). The components allow unidirectional and bidirectional configurations as well as easy mounting to a printed circuit board. The clamping time is < 100ps theoretical for unidirectional and 5ns for bidirectional. The series is also RoHS compliant (exemption #7).

The series is provided in a high power surface mountpackage with an approximate weight of only 1.2 grams. The package also has lead-free silver plating. The solder reflow temperature is 240-250 degrees Celsius and the flammability rating is UL 94V-0.

Pricing and Availability
ProTek Devices' SM15KPAN series is now available in mass quantities. Pricing for unidirectional parts start at around $7.75 per part in minimum quantities of 100 units.
