EarthLink Files Opposition to Comcast-NBCU Merger; Seeks to Enhance Consumer Choice of Internet Services
ATLANTA, June 21 -- EarthLink, Inc. (NASDAQ:ELNK), one of the nation's leading Internet service providers, today filed at the Federal Communications Commission a Petition to Condition or Deny the proposed merger of Comcast Corporation and NBC Universal. (See http://www.earthlink.net/go/merger for EarthLink's Petition.)
EarthLink believes the transaction would result in Comcast engaging in a range of anti-competitive actions that will reduce consumer choice, restrict content diversity, and interfere with Internet competition. To remedy these harms, EarthLink proposed the FCC adopt a condition requiring Comcast to offer wholesale standalone broadband access to independent Internet service providers. EarthLink's successful and long-standing wholesale relationship with Time Warner Cable demonstrates that merger conditions implementing competitive broadband access can enhance consumer choice and create commercial benefits for all parties.
"The access condition that EarthLink proposes today for the Comcast-NBCU merger will be a win for consumers and a win for online competition," said EarthLink Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rolla Huff. "The condition essentially enables Comcast customers to 'break the bundle' and purchase only the services they need or want. We look forward to working with the FCC and the U.S. Department of Justice to ensure the transaction results in greater consumer choice and competition."

James Dyson unveils two new Air Multiplier(TM) machines
NEW YORK, June 21 -- As the majority of the U.S. heads into the summer months, Dyson has the answer for sweltering temperatures with the latest Dyson Air Multiplier(TM) fans: the AM02 Tower and the AM03 Pedestal. Engineered for larger spaces, the floor standing machines produce a far greater airflow than the previous iteration - AM03 Pedestal generates nearly 50% more airflow at maximum than the AM01 Desk fan.
Dyson first introduced Air Multiplier(TM) technology in October 2009 offering the first real innovation in more than 125 years. Dyson's patented technology replaces fast spinning blades and awkward grilles with loop amplifiers. The machines draw air in at the base through a mixed flow impellor - a combination of the technologies used in turbochargers and jet engines.
Unlike conventional fans with limited settings, Dyson Air Multiplier(TM) fans can be infinitely adjusted up or down. The new tower and pedestal fans offer precise airflow and oscillation control and can be adjusted remotely. Air Multiplier(TM) technology is easier to clean and a safer way to keep cool this summer.
Both new fans come with a remote control, which is magnetized to conveniently locate itself on the machine.
"The new machines are engineered to circulate smooth un-buffeted air in larger rooms. They draw in and multiply nearly 50% more air than our desk fan," says James Dyson.
Dyson AM02 Tower fan specifications:
AM02 Tower is slender and running track shaped to take up limited floor space. Drawing in nearly nine gallons of air per second, the machine amplifies the air 16 times creating a smooth and cooling airflow.
Dyson AM03 Pedestal fan specifications:
Offering the most airflow of all Dyson Air Multiplier(TM) fans, the AM03 Pedestal takes in nearly nine gallons of air per second and amplifies the air 18 times. Unlike other pedestal fans, which use an awkward clamp to fix the height, AM03 Pedestal uses a constant rate Tensator spring to easily push or pull the loop amplifier to set the height and angle. The machine extends nearly nine inches for use in larger areas including living rooms and offices. It has no spinning blades, is easy to adjust and tilt.
How Air Multiplier(TM) technology works:
Dyson Air Multiplier(TM) fans draw air in through a mixed flow impeller - a combination of the technologies used in turbochargers and jet engines. Only 7% of the air generated by Dyson Air Multiplier(TM) fans actually passes through the impeller, 93% results from the inducement and entrainment of surrounding air.
Air is accelerated through an annular aperture set within the loop amplifier. This creates a jet of air which passes over an airfoil-shaped ramp and channels its direction. Surrounding air is drawn into the airflow in a process known as inducement and entrainment.
Conventional fans have limited settings. Dyson Air Multiplier(TM) fan airflow can be precisely adjusted up or down and oscillated by controls on the machine or remotely for the AM02 Tower and the AM03 Pedestal.
About Dyson:
Research, Design and Development is at the core of Dyson. One third of people at Dyson are engineers and scientists. Their expertise in fluid, mechanical, electrical, EMC, thermal, chemical, acoustic and software engineering allows them to design new products as well as challenge and improve existing technologies. Dyson has over 1300 patents and patent applications for over 300 different inventions (March 2010). Dyson's RDD investment has quadrupled over the last 5 years with plans to double engineers in 2010.
Wireless Access for Health Project Works to Improve Public Health Care in the Philippines
- 3G Wireless Technology Enables More Responsive Health Care Systems -
MANILA, Philippines, June 21 -- The Philippines Department of Health, Tarlac Provincial Health Office and Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM), through its Wireless Reach(TM) initiative, today announced the successful completion of the Wireless Access for Health project's pilot phase. The project participants leveraged their expertise and resources in public health, medical care, technology and training to create an electronic health record system that meets the needs of health care decision makers on varying levels, ranging from midwives to doctors to policy makers. Results at the conclusion of the pilot phase, which recorded over 12,000 patient consultations, indicate that such a system is not only feasible and improves patient care in rural health clinics, but also has a real impact for decision makers.
Wireless Access for Health utilizes 3G wireless technology to enable a locally developed electronic health record system. In the Philippines, local health care providers compile and report public health data to the Field Health Service Information System (FHSIS), which is the major source of data used for policy analysis and planning. The Wireless Access for Health project aims to streamline this reporting process by building on and strengthening the existing Community Health Information Tracking System (CHITS), an electronic medical record system developed by the University of the Philippines Manila. CHITS improves patient care and access to public health information by consolidating data captured during patient visits into reports for health care workers in four health units in the Tarlac region of the Philippines.
"The Wireless Access for Health project's electronic health record system is the appropriate response to the DOH's need for finding innovative ways of transmitting reliable health data to allow for speedier decision making and action," said Dr. Esperanza Cabral, secretary of the Department of Health in the Philippines.
The pilot project's results have been positive at the rural health units in Gerona, Moncada, Paniqui and Victoria. A process that previously took hours to complete, CHITS now can instantly generate all 23 of the DOH's FHSIS reports, allowing for improved patient care and more efficient patient visits, as the time needed to search for records is reduced to just seconds. The ability to easily view, record and share patient information simultaneously across multiple computers within a health clinic allows clinicians to complete patient consultations earlier, resulting in increased capacity to provide further support to community health workers.
"Wireless Access for Health is truly beneficial for the entire public health system, from patients to doctors to health care authorities at the local, regional and national level," stated Dr. Ricardo P. Ramos, chief of Tarlac provincial health unit. "The system's accurate and timely submission of health data is important in helping the government to identify and prevent disease outbreaks across the Philippines."
"Good health is fundamental to our lives. The use of electronic health record systems improves patient care and public health by making it easier for health care workers to both record and report patient information," said John Stefanac, vice president of Qualcomm and president of Qualcomm Southeast Asia and Pacific. "Qualcomm believes wireless technology ensures widespread information access, as well as enhanced mobility and efficiency, to the average citizen - regardless of where consumers are. We are proud to be a part of Wireless Access for Health and are committed to enabling wireless technology that helps keep communities in the Philippines healthy."
In addition to the project's direct impact on health care delivery, it has trained 40 midwives and nurses to use computers for the first time, and Tarlac State University has gained experience in CHITS software development. This increase in knowledge, experience and resources for the various levels of health care decision makers enables Wireless Access for Health to serve as a model for replication across the Tarlac region and the rest of the Philippines.
"One result of this initiative is awareness among our partners in local health offices and local government units of the importance of data quality," said Myra Emata-Stokes, chief of The U.S. Agency for International Development's Program Resources Management. "This initiative makes it easy for partners to realize that the natural next step to systematic health information recording is data analysis and data utilization in places where these processes have not normally existed - even at the level of the rural health units, which are the most basic point of public health service."
"We are pleased to be part of this groundbreaking initiative. This project demonstrates that telecommunications can play an important role in modernizing the public health system, making it more effective and efficient in serving people even in remote areas of the country," said Manuel V. Pangilinan, chairman of Smart Communications, Inc.
This project is made possible through the collaboration of public-private partners: agencies of the Philippines Department of Health, including the National Epidemiology Center, the Information Management Service and the Center for Health Development for Region 3, local government units in Tarlac, Qualcomm's Wireless Reach initiative, RTI International, Smart Communications, Inc. (SMART), Tarlac State University, the University of the Philippines Manila-National Telehealth Center and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).

New Oce Arizona 550 XT Extra-Large UV Flatbed Printer for High-Volume Production Environments
Exceptional image quality on rigid or flexible media with a production print speed nearly twice that of the Oce Arizona 350 XT model
TRUMBULL, Conn., June 21 -- Oce, an international leader in digital document management and printing for professionals, today announced the new Oce Arizona® 550 XT UV flatbed printer with an extra-large flatbed table for oversized rigid media or objects. It includes a Production Mode print speed nearly twice that of the Oce Arizona 350 XT printer. The Oce Arizona 550 XT printer will make its debut in the international Oce booth at the FESPA exhibition in Munich, 22-26 June 2010. It is expected to be available for order in the U.S. starting in late Q3-2010.
The Oce Arizona 550 XT printer is the next generation model in the award-winning Oce Arizona Series of UV flatbed printers. It uses UV curable inks and Oce VariaDot(TM) imaging technology to deliver near-photographic image quality for nearly any application. Designed as a true flatbed system, it can print on a wide variety of oversized rigid substrates up to 98.4 by 120 inches and offers a flexible media printing option for roll-based media up to 86.6 inches wide.
Exceptional image quality, productivity and ink economy with Oce VariaDot imaging technology
The Oce Arizona 550 XT printer uses Oce VariaDot imaging technology that enables a printhead to produce ink droplets of variable size resulting in variable sized dots on the printed media. The ability to jet small droplets produces sharp images with smoother gradients and quartertones. The ability to jet larger droplets produces dense, uniform solids. The result is near-photographic image quality with sharpness only before seen at resolutions of 1,440 dpi or higher. Print providers will never have to refuse a job because of their clients' expectations for high quality output when using the Oce Arizona 550 XT printer.
In addition to superior image quality, Oce VariaDot imaging technology requires only four color inks to achieve the best image quality in the industry. The use of only four colors and of variable-sized droplets results in significantly lower ink consumption - up to 50 percent less - than six color printers with fixed droplet inkjet technology.
Production print speeds
The Oce Arizona 550 XT printer features a Production print mode of up to 462 square feet per hour on rigid media without sacrificing any of the award-winning print quality for which the Oce Arizona Series is famous. With this productivity, print providers can confidently take on peak demand and rush jobs. It reduces the risk for businesses wanting to make the transition from analog to digital printing by providing all the print quality they need at production speeds.
Ideal for banner and outdoor work
An Express print mode is also available with print speeds of up to 709 square feet per hour, nearly three times higher than the fastest print speed available on the previously-released Oce Arizona 350 XT printer. Express Mode prints have all the sharpness and color density of other print modes and are ideal for banner and outdoor work.
Extra large versatility
Nearly 110 four- by eight-foot boards can be produced in a single eight-hour shift on the Oce Arizona 550 XT printer using Production print speeds, making it a great solution for typical sign and display work that would otherwise go to the screen press. The extra width of the Oce Arizona 550 XT printer enables it to be used in a continuous imaging mode for rigid media up to 49.2 by 98.4 inches, or a standard four- by eight-foot board. Two rigid boards of this size can be mounted on separate vacuum areas of the flatbed table. While one board is being printed, the operator can change the other. Since the printer never has to stop printing for a media change, users can significantly increase their net print production on boards of this size.
Print providers can offer innovative products and services to their customers
By using the extra-large flatbed and the white ink capabilities of the Oce Arizona 550 XT printer, print providers can innovate the products and services they offer for higher-value print applications. Print providers can print on irregularly shaped objects or non-square media, heavy substrates such as glass, or materials that have an uneven surface such as wood. This is an important advantage over competitive rigid-capable printers that use belt or friction-based media feed systems, as they can often only print on square-cornered, lightweight materials of uniform thickness. The true flatbed architecture enables printing on anything that is reasonably flat up to two inches thick. Print providers can add value to a metal cookie box, a DVD, a piece of furniture, a pane or architectural glass, a sheet of painted aluminum, wood, medium density fiberboard (MDF), or even a full-sized garage door. The Oce Arizona 550 XT printer offers unparalleled versatility for those print providers that are serious about innovation and higher margin printing applications.
Costs a third less than comparable systems
Like all Oce Arizona printers, the Oce Arizona 550 XT model was designed using a cost efficient engineering approach that makes it much more affordable than comparable systems. Print providers can own this high quality, high capacity printer for about 30% to 40% less than comparable, competitive UV flatbed systems. That reduces capital outlay for small- and medium-sized businesses and enables them to acquire the best-in-class print quality and application versatility.
Available options
A Roll Media Option is available giving print providers the ability to print onto flexible media including vinyl, self-adhesive vinyl, scrim banner, paper and blue backed paper without compromising the rigid printing workflow. Print providers can use this system to expand into more exotic applications that command premium prices, from parts templates for manufacturing; CD covers and wallpaper, to fast food menus and fabric, and anything needed for sign and display.
The Oce Arizona 550 XT printer includes a White Ink Option that enables under-printing for non-white media or objects, over-printing for backlit applications on transparent media and printing white as a spot color. Under-printing white ink provides a base for non-white surfaces upon which color can be added, giving print providers the ability to expand their range of offerings to include specialty applications. Over-printing white ink provides a diffusion layer for backlit applications that will be viewed from the unprinted side, enabling print providers to produce high quality backlit images for point-of-purchase applications. The ability to also print white ink as a spot color enables white features of images to be highlighted for greater effect. Using white ink to its full effect will have a very positive impact on the margins that print providers can demand of their customers.
Expanding the premier UV flatbed product family
The Oce Arizona 550 XT printer joins the market-leading Oce Arizona family of UV flatbed printers at the top of the range. Other Oce Arizona Series models include the Oce Arizona 550 GT (49.2 by 98.4 inch table, up to 4332/hr production speed), Oce Arizona 350 XT printer (98.4 by 120 inch table, up to 248 ft2/hr production speed), the Oce Arizona 350 GT printer (49.2 by 98.4 inch table, up to 239 ft2/hr production speed) and the Oce Arizona 300 GT printer (49.2 by 98.4 inch table, up to 133 ft2/hr production speed). All share the same award-winning image quality and robust architecture, offering the Oce values of quality, reliability, productivity and user-friendliness.
In all, Oce Arizona Series UV flatbed printers have accumulated 19 industry awards to date from organizations throughout the world, including three SGIA Product of the Year awards. These awards validate the quality and innovation built into every Oce Arizona Series printer, now the best selling series of flatbed printers in history.

MobileIron Announces the First Complete Management Solution for iPhone 4 and iOS 4
Core Components Include a New Model for Enterprise Application Discovery and Zero-Touch Security
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 21 -- MobileIron, the innovator in multi-OS smartphone management, today announced a broad set of capabilities to accelerate the adoption of iPhones in the enterprise. MobileIron's new application discovery, zero-touch security, and real-time cost control services leverage the APIs available with iPhone 4 and iOS 4 to provide the first complete management solution for iPhone, iPod, and iPad. MobileIron enables IT organizations to secure and manage iOS 4 devices end-to-end while preserving the full user experience of the platform.
"The heart of the iPhone is apps," said Bob Tinker, CEO of MobileIron. "With over 200,000 apps in the App Store, developers have proven the power of the iPhone platform to deliver apps that matter. With MobileIron for iOS 4, businesses can now take advantage of that same power to easily develop, secure, and publish their own in-house apps to their employees. iOS 4 is a watershed release for the industry that will catalyze mobile application development and shift the battle for the mobile enterprise from email to apps."
MobileIron for iOS 4 addresses three core enterprise requirements:
-- Application discovery: For the first time, application discovery for
in-house apps will be easy for both IT and the end-user. IT can
publish a catalog of the company's in-house apps for users to download
over-the-air, without iTunes required. Different apps can be made
available for different users, based on policy. For example, the
sales team might have access to CRM and expense reporting apps while
the engineering team has access to knowledge management and
collaborative apps. IT can now also maintain an accurate inventory of
what apps are on what iPhones and restrict access to enterprise email
if non-compliant apps are present.
-- Zero-touch security: User intervention is no longer required to
update iPhone security and application configuration profiles. IT can
now push profiles to iPhones without requiring any action on the part
of the user. Certificates can be used to authenticate user and device
identity. All devices accessing the enterprise can now be managed
24x7, with constant management connectivity. Modified iPhones can be
kept out of the enterprise and all iPhones can be kept up-to-date and
in-sync with corporate security policy.
-- Real-time cost control: One of the largest and most unpredictable
business telecom costs is data roaming charges from apps and web
browsing. With MobileIron for iOS 4, IT can now monitor international
roaming in real-time. Whenever an iPhone user travels to a new
country, both the user and IT are notified to ensure that costs are
tightly managed and service plans are appropriate.
MobileIron for iOS 4 strengthens iPhone security and manageability for all organizations, regardless of whether they are deploying just email or email plus apps. However, as apps usage in the enterprise explodes, MobileIron's management platform will allow IT to keep pace with both iPhone innovation and user demand.
The MobileIron App is available from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or at http://www.itunes.com/appstore/, and is used in conjunction with MobileIron's enterprise mobility platform. MobileIron's current suite of security and management functionality is available for iOS 4 at launch in June 2010. MobileIron's application discovery, zero-touch security, and real-time cost control features for iOS 4 will be available in calendar Q3.
About MobileIron

The MobileIron Virtual Smartphone Platform is the first solution to give IT and users real-time intelligence and control over smartphone content, activity, and apps in order to secure the enterprise, reduce wireless cost, and improve the mobile user experience. ElcomSoft Recovers Encrypted Backups to iPhone and iPod Touch Devices with iOS 4 Software Update
MOSCOW, June 21, 2010-- ElcomSoft Co. Ltd. updates Elcomsoft iPhone Password Breaker, a
GPU-accelerated password recovery tool to unlock encrypted iPhone and iPod
Touch backups, with iOS 4 Software support. The support of the latest iOS
enables ElcomSoft's forensic customers to access information stored in Apple
devices updated with latest software, including the upcoming iPhone 4.
Elcomsoft iPhone Password Breaker continues to support original and
"jailbroken" Apple devices working under iPhone OS and the new iOS. Apple
iTunes is not required to recover passwords to offline backups.
Background
Apple has sold more than a hundred million devices working with iOS, a
mobile operating system formerly known as iPhone OS, including iPhone, iPod
Touch and iPad. With over a hundred new features, the iOS 4 Software Update
is considered the most significant update for Apple mobile devices ever.
Among other things, the updated software employs a new format for saving
backups. Apple has changed the algorithm protecting encrypted backups for its
iOS devices, making the backup process faster while strengthening the
protection even further compared to prior releases. The company has
significantly improved protection of encrypted backups, making password
recovery attacks even harder. In addition, the encryption is now moved into
the kernel of the new iOS as opposed to user-mode operation found in the
older systems.
The backups contain essential information about the use of the device,
including phone books, call logs, SMS archives, calendars, camera snapshots,
voice mail and email account settings, applications, Web browsing history and
cache. In addition, iPhone 3G and 3GS backups store information about the
latest known GPS position of the device.
About Elcomsoft iPhone Password Breaker
Elcomsoft iPhone Password Breaker grants forensic access to protected
information stored in Apple devices running iPhone OS or using the new
software update, iOS 4. Equipped with advanced dictionary attacks and a wide
range of permutations, Elcomsoft iPhone Password Breaker employs ATI and
NVIDIA hardware to speed up the recovery of plain-text passwords protecting
data backups of original and modified ("jailbroken") iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS,
iPhone 4, iPad and iPod Touch 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Gen devices. ElcomSoft
patent-pending GPU acceleration helps unlock encrypted backups orders of
magnitude faster than traditional CPU-only algorithms, which is essential
considering the strengthened protection found in iOS 4 devices.
GPU-accelerated performance is automatically available on multiple high-end
and consumer video cards based on NVIDIA and ATI chip sets.

Just in Time for the CEA Line Show, a Solution for Wet Cell Phones Emerges.
DRY-ALLs new product Wet Cell Phone Emergency Kit hits markets worldwide with a solution to a very common problem.
GILBERT, Ariz., June 21 -- Cell phones are vulnerable to permanent damage if they get wet; the cell phone will ultimately have to be replaced as water damage to the electronics render the phone permanently damaged. New technology has been created to save cell phones and the cell phone data after they get wet.
Typically, cell phone insurance covers phones that are lost, stolen or accidentally damaged. Most cell phone insurance does not cover water damage. Policies which do cover water damage require $39 to $199 for a replacement cell phone.
Replacing a wet cell phone can be quite expensive especially if you have a smart phone or iPhone which can cost anywhere from $300 to $800.
The new technology from DRY-ALL dries cell phones without using heat. The inner circuitry of a cell phone is extremely delicate and held together by tiny solder points. A source of heat on your phone directly melts these tiny solder points causing damage to the inner workings of a cell phone. Melting the internal solder on your phone could cause the wiring to come loose and the phone will have damage that cannot be repaired easily, inexpensively, or sometimes at all.
Some home remedies call for placing a wet cell phone in rice. After 48 hours of testing with rice in a sealed container, the phone still had water droplets inside. Rice itself does not have a high absorption rate of moisture, it absorbs moisture and becomes sticky when cooked due to the rapid heating of the starch itself, but when rice sits sealed with a wet cell phone at room temperature it does not pull moisture out of the circuitry of the soaked phone. In most situations this home remedy can cause irreparable damage to your phone by allowing the water to sit inside your phone for too long before it dries on its own. This solution again results in replacing the phone and all information such as contacts, emails, music, and applications.
DRY-ALLs technology is available in the form of a product that absorbs all of the moisture in the phone quickly, allowing the phone to continue working as normal without losing your contacts, applications, pictures, or music. The company specializes in moisture removal.
DRY-ALL, has been providing moisture removal technology for specialized military applications for years. The technology has been used for military equipment, NASA, hearing aids, gun safes, and now small electronics.
This product dries all types of cell phones including smart phones and iPhones that have been exposed to any type of moisture. DRY-ALL president Sean Gutierrez works hard to ensure that they only produce quality products. "We believe people deserve a professional product that actually does what it says it is going to do. Here at DRY-ALL we take pride in making a product that works."
DRY-ALLs drying agent absorbs all of the moisture out of a wet cell phone in a short 48 hour period. Their testing involved submerging cell phones in water ranging from 30 seconds to 4.5 minutes. Their tests revealed cell phones soaked in water and other liquids for 30 seconds had a 100% success rate when dried in their product. "The Wet Cellular Phone Emergency Kit has an unbeatable success rate. We have also saved iPods, Nintendo DSs, and PSPs," says Aime Gutierrez who is in charge of sales and marketing for DRY-ALL. "Water and electronics do not mix yet they somehow always end up together in a potentially deadly situation for your personal electronics. This makes our product something that everyone will need at some point." They have created this product that is now available for purchase; it is called the Wet Cellular Phone Emergency Kit. Their website is http://www.dry-all.com
HPL, LLC. headquartered in Gilbert AZ, manufactures high quality indicating dehumidifiers. Their product was originally used to protect moisture sensitive military equipment. It has been used to keep gun safes dry and for daily moisture removal for hearing aids. It is now used for drying wet cell phones, wet iPods, and other electronic items.

Arbitron Announces Next Generation Electronic Audience Measurement: PPM 360(TM)
Sleeker, smarter audience measurement solution includes wireless technology to fit consumers' on-the-go lifestyle
COLUMBIA, Md., June 21 -- Arbitron Inc. (NYSE:ARB) announced today its new generation of audience measurement, the PPM 360 technology, a flexible, convenient solution to measuring media by extending the Portable People Meter(TM) (PPM(TM)) technology onto a wireless platform. By migrating to a wireless platform, Arbitron is better able to follow the media habits of on-the-go consumers. This new approach lays the foundation for the development of future applications for the patented, proprietary PPM technology on multiple consumer devices.
"This innovative approach further liberates audience measurement from the home and enables media, brands and marketers to follow the mobile consumer more closely - which is particularly important for brands appealing to younger demographics," said William Kerr, President and CEO, Arbitron. "This platform is designed to be an integrated component to our existing radio services and drive future innovation for media measurement."
The new device design resembles a simple cell phone and is sleeker and smaller than the current meter. The inclusion of cellular wireless technology in the meter eliminates the need for an in-home docking station and a communications hub, creating an enhanced, streamlined experience for a panelist. The meter is ready out-of-the-box and can be charged with a simple USB cord. Arbitron can communicate with panelists through a text screen on the meter. It also retains a motion detector to monitor compliance, similar to previous versions of the PPM meter.
"The PPM 360 technology is a combined approach to measurement and data retrieval that enables future development of applications for multi-platform measurement, including cell phones, wireless devices and computers providing flexibility for future services that better reflect the industry need to follow the consumer," said Taymoor Arshi, Chief Technology Officer, Arbitron Inc. "Our new technology is designed to position us to meet the research needs of a network, station or advertiser, including seeing data closer to a major event."

The Arbitron Portable People Meter technology tracks consumers' exposure to media and entertainment, including broadcast, cable and satellite television; terrestrial, satellite and online radio as well as cinema advertising and many types of place-based digital media.
Broadcast signals are encoded with inaudible signals as they air or stream live. These codes are detected by the software that can be downloaded into a cell phone device or computer application. The PPM software is equipped with a motion sensor, a patented quality control feature unique to the system, which allows Arbitron to confirm the compliance of the PPM survey participants every day.

NEW YORK, June 21 -- Since the introduction of the BlackBerry and iPhone, smart phone software features and value-added services have been maturing, but there have been few noteworthy hardware advances. Now, the Innpu Communication Technology Co., Ltd. (http://www.innpu.com/ ) will break the ice.
With a commitment to change the way users access cell phones to prevent mobile phone radiation and produce new technologies, Innpu Communication Technology Co., Ltd. recently successfully developed the world's first "wired phone" cell phone and will soon release it.
Innpu introduces the first mobile phone with built-in retractable headphones. When receiving a phone call, just pull out the built-in headphone line; when the call is complete, the headset and headphones automatically retract. This reduces the risk of cell phone radiation to the user's head, while also frees up both hands.
This built-in retractable headphone module may appear simple, but in reality is quite technical. Innpu spent 5 years gathering multi-national technology experts for the development of polymer materials, new composite materials, and a continuous innovation process, all in order to surpass ordinary headphone winding capability, now enabling winding up to ten thousand times during the phone's service life, but also overcome module size constraints, which can affect ease of use, speed, etc.
Innpu has already obtained proprietary intellectual property protection for this technology in the European Union, China, the U.S., Japan and many other countries and regions. Meanwhile, Innpu management believe this technology can hardly be copied. That mobile phone radiation is harmful to human health is controversial at present, but numerous medical experts believe that since cell phone communications send and receive radio waves, the process of using a phone will certainly have a negative impact on brain function.
To prevent radiation, most phones are equipped to use and come with external headphones, but winding the headset externally is not convenient, so almost all headphones are not used, and alone cause the world billions of dollars in wasted resources every year. Innpu hopes that this invention can change cell phone consumers' traditional usage habits, in order to avoid damage to the head from mobile phone radiation and to conserve resources, but also make audio and video applications for mobile phone users with headsets more convenient. Although Bluetooth wireless headset technology is mature, frequent charging and the inconvenience of wear among other reasons prevent widespread use.
Innpu's "wired phone" will soon be available around the world. Additionally, in the future this technology will be extended to the iPAD, notebook computers and other small mobile network terminals, including MP4, MP5 and other music video terminals.
Beautiful baby boom creates demand for beautiful donors
NEW YORK, June 21 -- http://www.BeautifulPeople.com, the dating site with a strict ban on ugly people, has launched a virtual sperm and egg bank for people who want to have beautiful babies.
The Beautiful Baby service - which is also available to non-members - was created for people who want to maximize their chances of having good looking children.
Managing director Greg Hodge said: "BeautifulPeople.com has launched a fertility introduction service to help members and non-members alike procreate. There are no financial benefits for us in doing so - we are simply responding to a demand for attractive donors. Every parent would like their child to be blessed with many fine attributes, attractiveness being one of the most sought after. For a site with members who resemble Brad Pitt, George Clooney and Angelina Jolie you can imagine the demand."
Founder Robert Hintze added: "Initially, we hesitated to widen the offering to non-beautiful people. But everyone - including ugly people - would like to bring good looking children in to the world, and we can't be selfish with our attractive gene pool."
Since its creation in 2002, BeautifulPeople.com has become the world's largest community of beautiful people with over 600,000 members from 190 countries.
Jean Smith, cultural anthropologist said:
"BeautifulPeople.com is doing what people are doing anyway, which is securing what they believe to be the highest level of genetic material they can, to ensure the best chance of success for their offspring.
"This service makes it easier for those who subscribe to the same ideal of beauty as those of 'Beautiful People' to find donors whom they perceive to supply appropriate genetic material."
Already, over 600 beautiful babies have been born to couples who met through the site, a fact which is attracting the attention of broody individuals and fertility clinics.
Dr Mohamed Menabawey, media director at The London Bridge Fertility, Gynecology and Genetics Center is positive about the BeautifulPeople.com donor service:
"The removal of donor anonymity has created the massive UK shortage. The cost, confusion and damage of what many believe now to be failed anonymity legislation is there for all to see. It is manifested in the shortage of donor gametes and growing fertility tourism."
BeautifulPeople.com member James Frederiksen is one of many singles who have used the fertility forum and expressed an interest in donating sperm.
"I'm from Norway and it's very common for young, healthy men there to donate sperm. There seems to be a shortage worldwide, being a BeautifulPeople.com member I wanted to do whatever I could to help others create beautiful babies."
How the virtual sperm bank will work
The BeautifulPeople.com virtual sperm bank is a forum where members register and state their procreation interests. A number of members already registered on the forum are married or in a relationship where for many reasons, an external donor is required. Likewise, many men have been able to register to help infertile couples or single women to conceive healthy, attractive offspring.
There are many levels on which this virtual sperm bank can benefit the community. As well as non-members, men and women within the BeautifulPeople.com community who are seeking more than romance or social interaction are able to use the forum as an additional facility where they are able to enter relationships, but with an upfront attitude to their family goals.
Members wishing to donate will be able to access information on which clinics to contact and gather information on the donor protocol.
A bit more about BeautifulPeople.com
BeautifulPeople.com is the largest network of attractive people in the world.
Entry to BeautifulPeople.com is only possible after passing a democratic rating process, where members of the opposite sex vote 'yes definitely,' 'hmm yes, O.K.,' 'hmm no, not really' and 'NO Definitely NOT' based on photographs and a brief profile submitted by new applicants.
After a recent cull of 5,000 members who had gained weight, over 600,000 members remain on the site, representing 190 countries and every ethnic and cultural background.
An elite global lifestyle
Members of BeautifulPeople.com enjoy:
-- Glamorous parties and a jet set global network

Frost & Sullivan: Demand for CCTV Systems Rises in Response to Crime Rates in South Africa
CAPE TOWN, South Africa, June 21 -- Security has become an essential aspect of any building architecture. Rising incidences of workplace violence, armed robberies and corporate espionage have resulted in companies installing new security systems and upgrading their legacy systems with advanced closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems.
New analysis from Frost & Sullivan (http://www.autoid.frost.com/), The South African Markets for CCTV, finds that the market earned revenues of $537.7 million in 2008 and estimates this to reach $869.3 million by 2015. The market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.1 per cent from 2008 to 2015. The products covered in this study include cameras, remote surveillance systems, multiplexers, lenses, video recorders, quads, telemetry and video monitors.
If you are interested in more information on this study, please send an e-mail to Patrick Cairns, Corporate Communications, at patrick.cairns@frost.com, with your full name, company name, title, telephone number, company e-mail address, company website, city, state and country.
"Insurance companies are becoming reluctant to insure unsecured properties," notes Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Kudzanayi Bangure. "This includes providing general crime prevention advice and system specifications for submission to insurance companies to obtain approval prior to installation."
Armed robberies, automated teller machine (ATM) bombings and other related crimes have impelled customers to increase their security levels and invest more in security systems such as CCTV.
Technological innovation has also brought more efficient and effective systems with a longer lifespan. Although this is an advantage in the short term, it has an indirect disadvantage in the long term as it erodes sales.
"In such a highly price-sensitive market, suppliers will find it difficult to increase their price to compensate for the decrease in demand," explains Bangure. "Suppliers should focus on ongoing innovation so that newer and superior CCTV models are available in the market and attract consumers to upgrade to the latest CCTV models."
Technological innovation is mostly linked with better functions and operational improvements. Improved technologies result in the availability of advanced features, thereby making the products more appealing to the end users.
"End users are becoming increasingly aware of the various benefits and medium to long-term cost efficiencies associated with the use of novel CCTV technologies," concludes Bangure. "This has prompted a shift from guard services to CCTV security systems that are considered to be more efficient and reliable."
The South African Markets for CCTV is part of the Automatic Identification & Security Growth Partnership Services programme, which also includes research in the following markets: The South African HVAC Market, The South African Fire Detection and Suppression Systems Market, The South African Lighting Equipment Market, and South African Security Systems and Services Market: A Voice of Customer Analysis. Ruckus Wireless Introduces First High-Speed 802.11n Wi-Fi Wall Switch
New Device Helps Hotels Simplify the Delivery of Converged IP Services, Redefine Network Cost Models and Eliminate Complexity from Pulling Wires Everywhere
ORLANDO, Fla., June 21 -- HITEC EXHIBITION/CONFERENCE -- Ruckus Wireless(TM) today introduced the first Wi-Fi Wall Switch (the ZoneFlex(TM) 7025) that integrates high speed 802.11n Wi-Fi technology with wired Ethernet ports into an elegant, inconspicuous and low-profile wall jack that fits into any standard United States or European electrical junction box.
The Ruckus Wi-Fi Wall Switch redefines the deployment model and cost structure for hotels looking to converge their wired and wireless networks into a single infrastructure capable of reliably connecting a new world of in-room IP-based devices and services. For the first time, hotels are now able to offer multiple, high-value IP-based services over a single wired/wireless network at the highest performance and lowest cost per room.
Complementing the Ruckus Wi-Fi Wall Switch, the company also today unveiled its new ZoneSwitch line of affordable 802.3at/af power over Ethernet (POE) switches.
"For hotels, the first thing that must be achieved from a guest technology perspective is wireless everywhere," said Douglas Rice, Executive Vice President and CEO of Hotel Technology Next Generation (HTNG), a non-profit industry trade association. "Beyond that, the hospitality market clearly sees the enormous benefits that an IP-based network brings in delivering a better guest experience, new services that will drive customer loyalty and better staff productivity across their hotels."
The Ruckus Wi-Fi Wall Switch was purposely developed to meet the growing demands within hotels to connect in-room devices that are now IP-enabled while concurrently supporting a broader range of IP-based services. Beyond high-speed Internet access (HSIA), hotels want to deliver these new services - such as high definition television and video on demand (VOD), digital advertising, voice communications, hotel service optimization, in-room device monitoring and even environmental room controls - over a single, unified and centrally managed wired/wireless network.
With the Ruckus Wi-Fi Wall Switch, hotels have a simple in-room device that addresses these requirements and solves IT problems that have long hampered hotels such as:
-- Operating disparate wired and wireless networks,
-- Unsightly cables and network devices within hotel guest rooms,
-- Installing more Ethernet cables in guest rooms and other areas to
connect new IP-based devices,
-- Running additional Ethernet cabling to support standalone Wi-Fi access
points,
-- Deploying in-room switches and other infrastructure necessary for
network connectivity and,
-- Retrofitting furniture and hotel aesthetics to hide or accommodate
networking equipment.
The Ruckus ZoneFlex Wi-Fi Wall Switch is also ideal for filling "void areas" within hotels and schools such as corners of buildings, conference rooms and other locations where ubiquitous wired and wireless coverage is not pervasive. For many hotels, Ethernet access in conference rooms is typically handled by bringing in a switch to provide wired connectivity if wireless isn't available. The Ruckus ZoneFlex Wi-Fi Wall Switch eliminates this problem allowing multiple devices to connect using both wires and Wi-Fi. In addition the Ruckus Wi-Fi Wall Switch is perfect for service providers and property owners seeking to deliver high value IP-based services to their customers.
Hotel Nirvana
For many existing hotels Ethernet cabling is sparse or not available in every guest room. Even in locations such as the front desk, conference rooms, meeting spaces and business centers, Ethernet ports and wireless connectivity is limited.
Hotels that have deployed an extensive wired Ethernet network often need more ports to connect new IP-enabled devices and to support new multimedia services. Ethernet switches can be installed in guest rooms, but this requires more power, can be disruptive and often involves custom furniture design to hide the devices. This adds significant cost, complexity and management problems.
According to industry estimates, running a single Ethernet cable can cost up to $250 per guest room. When Wi-Fi access points, network switches, and other infrastructure products essential to running a computer network are added that cost can rise to $500 or more per room. The Ruckus Wi-Fi Wall Switch effectively cuts this cost in half.
For many hoteliers, Wi-Fi has been an afterthought to the wired network with access points being retrofitted throughout the property to provide a base level of wireless connectivity to guests. But as many new services and hotel devices embrace IP as the preferred method of connectivity and management, the requirement for a unified wired and wireless network has quickly become a necessity.
"Today's hotel guests depend on both wired and wireless high-speed Internet, and it can be difficult or expensive for existing hotels to do both well. Many hotels need devices that support both, and that can be easily installed into existing infrastructures," said Rice.
Enter the Ruckus Wi-Fi Wall Switch
Deployed as a standalone device or centrally managed by any ZoneDirector wireless LAN controller or Ruckus FlexMaster Wi-Fi management system, the Ruckus Wi-Fi Wall Switch reduces the cost and complexity of installing and managing wired and wireless network services.
The Ruckus Wi-Fi Wall Switch is driven by a single POE connection and provides four 10/100 Mbps Ethernet jacks and two uplink Ethernet wiring options. Additionally, the Ruckus Wi-Fi Wall Switch uses POE to power a device such as an IP phone and provides native connectivity to digital phones through a single digital PBX pass through port.
Introducing the Ruckus ZoneSwitch
The Ruckus ZoneSwitch 4000 series is a family of fully-managed, rack-mountable, Layer 2, 24-port 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet POE switches. Each ZoneSwitch offers full security, QoS and management features and provides four dual-personality ports that support pluggable fiber transceivers for easy and flexible network uplink.
Completely interoperable with Ruckus ZoneFlex APs, the ZoneSwitch comes in two models. The ZoneSwitch 4224 offers 375 watts of power over Ethernet and supports 12 concurrent IEEE 802.3at or 24 concurrent 802.3af connections across all ports. The ZoneSwitch 4124 offers 180 watts of power over Ethernet and supports 12 concurrent IEEE 802.3af connections across all ports. The Ruckus ZoneSwitch line will support central management through the Ruckus FlexMaster system.
With the addition of the ZoneFlex Wi-Fi Wall Switch and ZoneSwitch line of POE, Ruckus offers an unmatched solution for the hospitality industry that includes: indoor and outdoor smart Wi-Fi access points, scalable centralized controllers, multimedia video adapters, long-range point to point bridges and remote Wi-Fi management.
Pricing and Availability
Available in the fourth quarter of this year, the Ruckus ZoneFlex 7025 Wi-Fi Wall Switch is priced at US $249. The Ruckus ZoneSwitch 4224 and 4124, available in the third quarter of this year, are priced at US $1,999 and US $1,399 respectively.

Helps Mobile Application Developers Build Geofencing and Other Location 2.0 Services
SAN FRANCISCO, June 21 -- Location Labs Inc. announces the launch of its Location-as-a-Service Platform today, providing location APIs for developers to build next-generation location features in their applications. The platform is a product of many decades of cumulative research by the company's UC Berkeley PhD-heavy engineering team, led by Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Scott Hotes.
"The continuous stream of location data now available on many smartphone devices presents both a tremendous opportunity as well as a unique challenge to mobile developers," noted Tasso Roumeliotis, CEO of Location Labs. "We have created useful tools that help developers capitalize on the power of background processing of location data on multiple platforms."
The Location Labs Platform includes the following services for developers:
-- Geofencing Service: Allows developers to leverage background
processing on smart phones to create location-based triggers for their
applications. For example, developers can create a Geofence around a
favorite place and automatically "check-in" subscribers when they
enter the place.
-- Universal Location Service: Allows developers to locate over 180MM
devices in real time through a cloud-based API. There is no download
required for the end user, and the service can locate ALL types of
devices: both smartphones and non-smartphones.
-- Location Privacy Service: Provides developers a simple set of user
interface widgets that lets users control how their location is
shared, offering end-user control and transparency in sharing
location. The Location Labs Privacy Service lets users opt-in or out
of location sharing via SMS, mobile web, or even a web portal.
Leverages industry-standard OAuth for easy integration.
Developers across the board are already using Location Labs' services to enhance and build innovative location-based applications in a variety of vertical markets including social, marketing, gaming, and logistics tracking. Location-based applications continue to explode in popularity among smartphone users; in fact, as indicated by a recent Apple iTunes report, an estimated 12% of the apps in the iPhone® App Store had a location component.
"The Location Labs Geofencing Service made it incredibly easy to implement geofencing for the upcoming update to our iPhone application," reported Navneet Aron, founder and CEO of MobiQpons, Inc. "Our icon will automatically light up when the user is nearby a local coupon--it's going to add an entire new dimension to our application."
Matt Chasen, CEO and founder of transport marketplace uShip, is leveraging the Universal Location Service. "In a matter of weeks, we began displaying the locations of transporters so customers could track their shipments through a map on our website. And there was no need for truckers on uShip to install or download an app on their devices--they simply opted-in for it to start working. Ultimately, uShip tracking has been a huge hit with all of our members."
Access to Location Lab's Location-as-a-Service Platform is currently in private beta and is available by invitation only. Public availability of the platform is expected in Q3, 2010. If you would like to request an invitation to the private beta, or would like to be notified when the platform is made public, visit: http://www.location-labs.com/signUpForm.php.

Trend Micro and the Future of Software-as-a-Service Security: Expanding Optimized Platforms for SMBs, Enterprises and Service Providers
CUPERTINO, Calif., June 21 -- Trend Micro laid out today its long-term vision for bringing "SaaS that Fits" security solutions to small and medium businesses, enterprises, and xSPs. As part of its strategy, Trend Micro will be increasing infrastructure investments in and further developing its historically-successful SaaS portfolio into three platforms - hosted for SMBs, hybrid for Enterprises, and service provider platforms, each of which will provide the delivery structure for both current and future Trend Micro SaaS Security solutions.
Overall, the future of SaaS Security appears bright: Infonetics Research recorded growth of 70 percent in 2009 and IDC, in their Worldwide Security as a Service 2009-13 Forecast, predicts a market of $2B this year. Within the last 5 years, Trend Micro has branched out from its software-provider roots by investing heavily into the creation of a SaaS infrastructure that delivers high-availability SaaS applications for over 100,000 SaaS customers spanning various markets and countries. As customers become more comfortable with SaaS security, this number is expected to grow dramatically.
Taking into account this growing SaaS customer base, and an increasingly complex threat environment, Trend Micro has designed its SaaS infrastructure that has the mission-critical fortitude to hold data centers that stretch across the globe, process millions of customer queries, and handle an exponentially growing number of threats per day.
"For years, we've tailored SaaS solutions to the needs of the channel and customers in two business segments - hosted solutions for small to medium businesses and cloud solutions for xSPs," said John Maddison, senior vice president of SaaS, and general manager of the xSP business, Trend Micro. "Now, we're gaining traction within the enterprise market and expanding our SaaS models to include hybrid solutions. We're committed to growing our investment and expertise within SaaS security, hitting new markets with new solutions that meet the management, control and privacy needs of businesses and service providers all over the world."
Hosted security is ideal for small business and medium-sized companies with limited IT staff resources. Trend Micro provides a complete, channel-friendly portfolio of hosted endpoint and hosted email security products. In addition, channel partners may now use Trend Micro Worry-Free Remote Manager to securely monitor and manage multiple Trend Micro Worry-Free and Hosted Security clients across distributed locations.
Trend Micro(TM) Worry-Free(TM) Business Security Services for small offices protects multiple PCs and notebooks located in or out of the office from viruses and other threats. With single-install security, customers can centrally manage security from anywhere without adding a server or installing server software. Trend Micro hosts and updates the service for you so customers may easily manage and review security from anywhere.
According to IDC, the number of customers implementing hosted email security for the first time will grow by more than 50 percent in 2010. Trend Micro is already meeting this demand with Trend Micro Hosted Email Security, which provides industry-leading, always up-to-the-minute email security with no maintenance required by IT staff for more than 30,000 companies worldwide. Trend Micro Hosted Email Security also includes a contractually-binding service level agreement that commits to stopping 99+ percent of spam and other email -based threats before they reached your network - or money back from Trend Micro.
Trend Micro Hosted Email Security is rated by West Coast Labs benchmarking as #1 for anti-spam, and now also includes Web reputation technology that is rated #1 by independent NSS Labs benchmarking for stopping malicious URLs embedded in email and other malware.
"Trend Micro Hosted Email Security gives our customers a very high level of email security - including excellent new protection for stopping malicious URLs embedded in email - with no maintenance required by their IT staff. It's easy to sell, easy to install, and easy to support--that's a whole lot of 'easy,'" said Tom Ruffolo, president of eSecurityToGo.
Hybrid SaaS: Uniting cloud protection with on-premise virtual appliance
For enterprises who want on-premise control, along with faster, lighter in-the-cloud protection, the hybrid approach provides all the advantages of SaaS while minimizing the downsides. Enterprises have understood the benefits of this hybrid approach, but--up until now--have been forced to build, maintain, and manage disparate products and services to try to realize these benefits. In a recent study conducted by Infonetics, 50 percent of companies surveyed are taking the "homebrew" approach of building their own hybrid models. These "homebrewers" showed nearly-unanimous interest in integrated hybrid solutions, with 93 percent stating they would either consider deploying or would definitely deploy an integrated hybrid SaaS solution from one vendor.
"We asked respondents a simple question: Do you believe that the cost (in time and resources) of deploying hybrid solutions for e-mail security could be significantly reduced if you purchased an integrated solution from a single vendor? Eighty percent of respondents said yes. Looking back at the question about how respondents currently manage hybrid solutions it's easy to see why the cost savings could be significant," said Jeff Wilson, principal analyst, network security, Infonetics.
Responding to this demand, Trend Micro announced today the latest version of its flagship messaging product, InterScan Messaging Security- purpose-built as a hybrid SaaS email security solution that unites in-the-cloud protection with a VMware Ready virtual appliance. The cloud benefits include large scale deployment and ease of use while a premise solution allows more local policy control and easier management.
According to IDC, over 60 percent of organizations feel that the hybrid approach is most successful in stopping inbound email threats and they're right: Trend Micro InterScan Messaging Security is configured for optimal spam filtering, stops threats in the cloud before they reach the network and reduces up to 90 percent of email traffic, saving bandwidth, processing power and IT staff time.
SaaS Service Provider Platform: Scalability, Availability and Flexibility
In this model, Trend Micro provides the high-performance security platform needed by Internet Service Providers and Managed Service Providers in order for them to offer flexible, integrated services to their customers. They need flexible interfaces and licensing capabilities that allow them to rapidly integrate Trend Micro solutions into other applications, whether for small or global service deployment.
Currently, this platform has two implementations - one for business to consumer, and another for business to business. Trend Micro offers the following for Service Providers that allow for easy deployment and fast delivery of security capabilities:
Consumer Endpoint Security for Service Providers is a complete endpoint security solution that ISPs can offer their customers for protection against online threats that lead to infected PCs and identity theft. This platform offers the latest anti-malware and Web threat protection technologies powered by the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network infrastructure.
Email Security Platform for Service Providers enables them to offer their customers email protection from inbound and outbound email security risks with anti-spam, antivirus, data leak prevention and encryption technologies from Trend Micro. This platform can scale from 50,000 to 50 million seats in a centralized or distributed model. Additional options such as Web security services and virtual machine deployments are also available.
SaaS alliances: Expanding ecosystem to advance platform capabilities
Another facet within Trend Micro's overall SaaS strategy is forming strategic reselling relationships with other companies that offer solutions which complement Trend Micro's security portfolio. Trend Micro's most recent alliance with Qualys will give enterprises that are trying to meet both security and compliance needs more comprehensive IT security compliance capabilities, including: vulnerability and threat management; compensating controls and assessment; and reporting and submission to meet GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance) requirements. Later this year, a hybrid SaaS solution is expected to be available that will integrate vulnerability and threat information into a single portal. Organizations will have total visibility into their security posture, for assets outside and inside the firewall, thus automating risk management processes.
SaaS Security Powered by the Trend Micro(TM) Smart Protection Network Infrastructure
The Trend Micro Smart Protection Network infrastructure is fundamental to the company's SaaS solutions. Trend Micro scans, filters and correlates more than 20 billion emails, Web sites and files every single day, and then leverages that data to rapidly identify and respond to emerging threats, and improve the existing response to known threats. The engine processing all this traffic across millions of customers, multiple products, and hosted and on-premise environments is the Smart Protection Network infrastructure.
As Trend Micro extends its SaaS portfolio, customers will benefit in real-time -- rather than having to wait for the next update -- as the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network engine improves its security response.

Latest release simplifies work and saves time for IT professionals involved with IT Resource Planning
CLEAR LAKE, Iowa, June 21 -- TeamQuest Corporation released IT capacity management software aimed at reducing the time and effort required to improve the reliability, efficiency, and productivity of hardware and software infrastructure.
TeamQuest Performance Software 10.2 PF 20100601 offers two key improvements designed to save time for performance analysts and capacity planners: a self-configuring VMware performance management capability and a streamlined approach to answering multiple "what-if" questions regarding IT performance.
"Our focus for this release is to simplify some of the capacity management activities," said Director of Product Management Scott Adams. "We're decreasing the amount of time managers will spend evaluating capacity planning scenarios and increasing the integration of our performance tools with vCenter."
Automatic configuration for VMware hosts and guests
To address the challenge of identifying and resolving performance problems in a rapidly changing virtualized environment, TeamQuest has integrated with VMware to automate the discovery of VMware hosts and guests. This integration allows users to quickly begin benefitting from TeamQuest performance tools while requiring a minimal amount of human resources to adapt to frequent changes in the VMware environment.
"Our integration with VMware allows our software to automatically discover VMware hosts and guests," said Adams.
Predicting optimal solutions for future workloads
TeamQuest software has streamlined the approach to predicting resource requirements and determining the optimal solutions for supporting future workloads. Capacity planners can answer multiple "what-if" questions with more speed and efficiency.
"With this release, TeamQuest is giving you the ability to save and restore your model definitions, which saves time and eliminates the chances for human error," said Adams.
