Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition gives players the opportunity to go head-to-head against select NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers, including champions such as Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, and Tony Stewart, and the drivers from the iconic "Days of Thunder" film from Paramount Pictures. In Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition, players will join Rowdy Burns' team as the latest rookie to tear up the NASCAR circuit. With Rowdy as their coach, players will learn to hit the pit, upgrade their ride and trade paint with other cars. They can even "drop the hammer" like Cole Trickle for a boost of extra speed. Rowdy Burns will be voiced by the actor from the film, Michael Rooker, also known for his roles in "Mallrats," "Eight Men Out" and "Cliffhanger." Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition comes equipped with twelve NASCAR-sanctioned tracks, including Daytona International Speedway® and Talladega Superspeedway®.
With artificial intelligence tailored to match each film character and NASCAR driver, players will experience each driver's personality, driving style and maneuvers. For example, players will need to watch out for Cole Trickle's reckless, aggressive driving, Rowdy Burns' ruthless, veteran skills and Russ Wheeler's hot head. Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition features many of the top NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers including Brian Vickers, Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, Greg Biffle, Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Juan Pablo Montoya, Kasey Kahne, Kurt Busch, Mark Martin, Ryan Newman and Tony Stewart.

As players race to the top of the scoreboard, they will unlock car customization options and bonus tracks. Depending on how players place in races, take the lead in laps, and pick up new sponsors, they will win in-game currency necessary to refuel, make pit stops, and upgrade their cars. Players' driving styles will be monitored by an in-game tracking system, allowing players to be approached by like-minded sponsors.
In Days of Thunder: NASCAR Edition, up to 12 people can race to the finish online, log the fastest times on the leader boards, or push themselves to the limit in single-player. There are four different modes - Quick Race, Time Trial, Career, with circuits of varying difficulty, and Derby Mode, where players are encouraged to deal as much damage as they can.

Audi of America and SkyGrid have launched the 24 Hours of Le Mans Experience so that people using SkyGrid for iPad can access the latest news and high-definition multimedia Audi content related to the grueling motorsports event as it unfolds in France this weekend.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans stands as the world's oldest endurance race, dating back to 1923. Audi teams have won the storied competition eight of the past 10 years. Final preparations for the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans are underway this week, with the race beginning June 12 at 9 am U.S. EDT. To bring the drama and strategy of the race to life this year, Audi turned to SkyGrid, which is the only stream-browsing experience on the Web today. The resulting exclusive experience is the first iPad application of its kind for any automaker.

Metaversal Studios Releases 'Frank Further' for iPhone OS
BOSTON, June 11 -- Metaversal Studios, the video game content development arm of Alliance Distributors (Pink Sheets: ADTR), today announced the release of "Frank Further", the sequel to their popular free iPhone game "Hot Dog Down a Hallway", available worldwide through the iTunes App Store for an introductory price of US$1.99.
With "Frank Further", the designers of the flying hot dog game series have flown above and beyond the original game's racy-but-innocent double-entendres to produce a hilarious tri-pack of visual and verbal puns. At first launch, the game offers a "vegetarian option" that addresses a few players' complaints about cartoon violence by sending a carrot or turnip through the meat grinder instead of a pig. The player then selects a "stage" for the hot dog's flight from a carousel of diner dishes. In keeping with the sequel's theme, all of the game menus are parts of a diner's menu.
For the 1.0 release, Metaversal Studios serves up "Remix", "Retro", and "Clay". "Remix" updates the graphics of the original "Hot Dog Down a Hallway" while maintaining its original flavor, while "Clay" takes the game into the third dimension with graphics inspired by the animation styles of Will Vinton and Rankin/Bass and new items and achievements. Things really take off with "Retro", an homage to the Atari 2600 and the Super Nintendo that incorporates new gameplay elements from classic games like "Pitfall", "Mario Bros." and "Adventure".
Lead Game Designer Jay Laird said, "The hardest part about getting this game out the door was selecting from many ideas that everyone in the studio contributed. But that's good news for our players: we plan to add new stages and new surprises to the existing stages as part of the game's regular free updates." China's urban centers, like many fast growing cities around the globe, operate through a complicated network of infrastructures that help keep them running efficiently. The management of basic services such as energy, water, food supplies, sanitation, mass transit and traffic control typically involves the use of technology overseen by different agencies. This complex web of urban functions makes it even more critical to adapt an advanced system such as AGT's.

McGraw-Hill Education Launches Mathematics Assessment Tool to Evaluate and Advance Students' Early Math Skills
First research-based universal screening tool for elementary math enables teachers to benchmark students' progress, conduct diagnostic reporting and provide effective differentiated instruction Tool available via iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and the Web
NEW YORK, June 10 -- It is important that teachers effectively evaluate their students' progress in math at an early stage to enhance instruction and individual student performance. These are the same teachers who will benefit greatly from McGraw-Hill Education's TEAM (Tools for Early Assessment in Math), a new one-on-one screening tool used to measure students' math skill levels through a diagnostic assessment.
TEAM identifies students' level of thinking along learning trajectories for each core math topic, reports on their understanding of math skills and standards, and suggests activities that tie back to the math curriculum. Available now for PreK-2 classrooms, the product offers digitally rich and easily accessible programs compatible with Apple's iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, as well as any Internet-enabled computer, making it convenient and simple for teachers to collect and review assessment data anywhere, anytime. TEAM will be available for grades 3-5 in the winter of 2011.
Based on extensive academic research, TEAM provides teachers with an online management system to run progress reports after completing student assessments. These reports reveal a student's academic standing in comparison to the class average and learning track, and predict his or her state standards proficiency. Using the diagnostic data, TEAM provides student prescriptions, including individual, class enrichment and remediation activities that can be implemented with the current math curriculum in the classroom. Typically, teachers would conduct these assessments three times a year - at the beginning, middle and end of the school year - or more often for progress monitoring as needed.
"It is essential for elementary teachers to tailor their math instruction to the specific needs and challenges of their students and strive to overcome all learning gaps early on," said Bodie Marx, senior vice president of McGraw-Hill Education's Intervention, Special Needs, Supplemental & Assessment Center. "TEAM is the first universal screening tool of its kind for elementary math that effectively measures the mathematical skills of children to help prevent later learning difficulties and ensure lifelong math success. TEAM makes it possible for teachers to understand the learning trajectories of their students, pinpoint math proficiencies and deficiencies and develop individualized prescriptions and differentiated instruction to improve comprehension from the start."
TEAM was developed in cooperation with Dr. Doug Clements and Dr. Julie Sarama. Dr. Clements is a SUNY Distinguished Professor with the University at Buffalo's Graduate School of Education and an active member of the Mathematics Work Team focusing on the K-12 Common Core State Standards Initiative. Dr. Sarama is a professor of Mathematics Education at the University at Buffalo. "TEAM is the first tool of its kind to help teachers assess their students' progress along the core learning trajectories of early mathematics," said Dr. Clements. The research was conducted over a 12-year period and consisted of three pilot tests involving over 2,000 students in diverse classrooms.
Teachers also can use TEAM to align their current math programs with the Response to Intervention (RtI) method, a scientifically-based process of ongoing assessment and intervention to monitor student performance and provide early assistance to those students falling behind academically.
The TEAM program is available in English and Spanish. Student and teacher materials include a flipbook, manipulatives for assessment items, a teacher's guide, and online access for scoring, tracking and reporting.

Premiere June issue includes 2010 FIFA World Cup multimedia content
CLEVELAND, June 10 -- Sideways, the first magazine exclusively designed and written for the iPad, is now available as a monthly app.
