IRVINE, Calif., June 9 -- Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's Presentation Products Division, known for award-winning, high-quality, high-definition presentation and display products, introduces two high-brightness, dual-lamp installation projectors using Texas Instruments' DLP® technology that can be used in 24/7 continuous applications. The XD8100U XGA (1024 x 768 pixels) and widescreen WD8200U WXGA (1280 x 800 pixels) projectors offer a host of options to meet end users' and installers' most demanding environments, including those that run non-stop. The projectors are being showcased at InfoComm in Las Vegas, June 9-11, 2010 in Mitsubishi's Booth #C5602.
"These new dual lamp projectors are jam-packed with flexible options and features that allow systems integrators to configure them to match their customers' most challenging display needs," said Wayne Kozuki, product manager, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's Presentation Products Division. "We're getting great feedback from the show floor at InfoComm."
The XD8100U and WD8200U can operate in either single or dual lamp mode for a sharp and bright image (up to 7000* lumens and 5000* lumens, respectively). With each lamp needing only one hour of shut-down period every week, this feature enables users to configure their lamp settings appropriate for applications that run non-stop 24/7/365 operation or in areas with variable ambient light.
Each model in this line is equipped with Mitsubishi Super Resolution, an exclusive menu-driven Mitsubishi Electric algorithm where the user can enhance the sharpness of a projected image. This is a truly must-see feature and will certainly amaze even the most critical users.
"People are thinking of projection displays differently after seeing this feature and comparing the same image displayed by non-Super Resolution pictures," added Kozuki.
The new projectors also offer user-interchangeable color wheels for either brightness-intensive or color-intensive applications. Each unit comes with the high-brightness color wheel with an option to purchase the exchangeable six-segment color wheel that emphasizes richness and depth of colors. This flexibility allows users to match presentation content with the color wheel best suited for the application.
Both of the new Mitsubishi models offer geometric warping so images can be created on curved screens or surfaces, in either front- or rear-projection mode. They are ideal for museums, malls, casinos or other performance spaces such as planetariums or vision tunnels; artists and designers, for example, can create a globe lit with moving images or other visually-stimulating projected artwork on a curved, bent or arched surface. The possibilities are practically endless.
With the XD8100U and WD8200U, Mitsubishi introduces new edge-blending and color matching technology, which allows an essentially unlimited number of images from different projectors of the same model to be blended vertically and/or horizontally to create one virtually seamless and uniform image for maximum visual impact. Blended horizontal (left and right) and vertical (top and bottom) image edges gives designers an infinite canvas to show their display creation digitally.
In most 24/7 operations, cooling large projectors can be problematic, but the XD8100U and WD8200U offer a heat pipe cooling system much like a car's radiator grill; it absorbs heat and funnels it away from the projector. There are no moving parts and no liquid components so the projectors are extremely quiet with no additional power supply required for increased energy savings. Unlike other liquid-based cooling systems, there's no risk of leaking, which can be dangerous.
Creative installations are easy with these new models that offer 360° support, so images can be projected in a complete circle vertically, above and below from a center point. Motorized horizontal and vertical lens-shift and motorized focus and zoom make placing the projected image on the screen quick and easy, too, while adding installation convenience.
Mitsubishi also announced a new self-cleaning filter system with these projectors. Each unit includes an automated rotating filter that allows users to schedule filter rotations automatically or manually on an as-needed basis. The filter itself is a reusable mesh that has an estimated maintenance span of up to 10,000 hours (under normal operating conditions). When the filter needs cleaning, users simply rinse and dry it, reinstall and reuse the filter, which generates less waste, saves money and decreases overall cost of ownership.
Mitsubishi offers multiple optional lenses that support various room configurations and throw distances. These interchangeable lenses support a throw ratio range of 1.3 up to 9.0 front projection, plus a zero-axis 0.8 rear throw distance. The WD8200U and the XD8100U with its center lens design provides a new, quick and simple lens-exchange process. The WD8200U and the XD8100U with its center lens design provides a new, quick and simple lens-exchange process. These projectors have a cut-out around the centered lens so switching lenses is easier, increasing installation flexibility while decreasing installation time.
The projectors boast Texas Instruments' BrilliantColor(TM) technology, which uses color-processing algorithms and system-level enhancements for greater brightness and truer, more vibrant colors. They offer an HDMI(TM) input for native digital signals and RJ45 for remote networking management that supports Crestron as well as AMX remote management solutions.
"Mitsubishi continually brings new technology to market, particularly that which increases durability and saves time and money over the life of a projector. And we're now introducing unique usability features combined with dynamic picture performance," said James Chan, director, product marketing, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America's Presentation Products Division. "Mitsubishi continues to offer a greater range of installation projectors with a lot of flexible options designed to meet the needs of all our customers."
Pricing, Availability, Warranty
The XD8100U XGA and WD8200U projectors are targeted for availability in the next few months through authorized Mitsubishi dealers at competitive prices. The projectors come with Mitsubishi's three-year limited warranty on parts and labor plus a one-year limited warranty on the lamp. Mitsubishi Electric Introduces 3D-Ready Wide-Screen and Short-Throw Portable Projectors for Value-Oriented Customers
EW270U and EW230U-ST Projectors are Designed for Meeting Rooms or K-12 Classrooms
IRVINE, Calif., June 9 -- Mitsubishi Electric's Presentation Products Division has announced two new wide-screen format projectors targeting cost-conscious customers looking for good value in classroom or meeting room projectors. Mitsubishi's EW230U-ST (Short Throw) and EX270U WXGA projectors are 3D-ready and produce high-quality, wide-XGA images at competitive prices.
"It's important that everyone's dollar goes a little farther these days," said Wayne Kozuki, product manager for Mitsubishi Digital Electronic America's Presentation Products Division. "With these two new projectors, the high-quality performance and superior technology that Mitsubishi is known for is a great value-add for our customers."
Mitsubishi two 3D-ready projectors, the EW230U-ST short-throw model and the EW270U, offer great performance at an economical price. Even though these new projectors are part of Mitsubishi's entry level product line, each feature a six-segment color wheel (red, blue, green, white, yellow and cyan) to produce rich and accurate colors, and are built using Texas Instruments' DLP® technology and BrilliantColor(TM) for superior color performance.
The Mitsubishi EW230U-ST and EW270U projectors are enhanced with an RJ-45 connector and integrated Crestron RoomView® support for simple plug-and-play connectivity as well as HDMI(TM) for high-definition video sources. They also include closed-captioning from supported content sources, and display 3D content viewable with DLP-Link-compatible active shutter 3D glasses.
The EW270U and EW230U-ST are both WXGA (1280 x 800 resolution) and blast 2500 lumens and 2600 lumens, respectively. At 5.3 pounds and 6.2 pounds, respectively, both projectors are easily portable from room to room, with a direct power off function that eliminates power-down time and allows presenters to make quick exits.
Each projector offers a substantial 4000* hour lamp life (in low mode), meaning fewer replacements over time, saving time and money. As a short-throw projector, the EW230U-ST can project a 60-inch diagonal image from less than 26 inches away, so teachers and presenters do not create distracting on-screen shadows while addressing their students and audience.
The EW230U-ST and EW270U projectors also offer a filter-free engine with a convenient top-loading lamp to make installation and lamp replacement simple and easy. Mitsubishi offers a one-year limited warranty on its lamps, making the projectors even more cost-effective to own while giving users peace of mind.
Each projector provides a monitor loop through and RS-232 interface for flexible installation options, as well as variable audio out so users can adjust a presenter's volume through external speakers. They are also equipped with a reinforced anti-theft security bar for security-conscious users
All of Mitsubishi's new projectors are environmentally friendly with an energy-efficient, long lamp life and digital user manuals; printed materials and packaging cartons are made with recycled paper. These projectors also consume less than one watt of power when in low stand-by mode.
Each projector comes with Mitsubishi's three-year limited warranty on parts and labor, and a one-year limited warranty on the lamp. Like all Mitsubishi data projectors, the new projectors are covered by the Express Replacement Assistance (ERA) Program, a comprehensive nationwide service that offers next business-day replacement** for down units that are under warranty.

Inventor of the QR Code Develops a New Reader Application
-- DENSO WAVE Launches a New App for the Apple iPhone --
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., June 9 -- Imagine pulling out your smartphone and using it as a scanner to download videos, coupons, information about a store or business, or even someone's business card info. Well, welcome to a truly digital world, because we're already there. All you need is a QR reader application.
DENSO WAVE Incorporated, the inventor of the two-dimensional barcode, called a Quick Response (QR) Code, introduced a QR Code reader application for the iPhone. The English version of the application "QRdeCODE" can be downloaded from the Apple Inc., App Store beginning June 7, for $1.99.
Not only will the QRdeCODE app allow you to scan these two-dimensional barcodes and get information, you can also create your own personal QR code so you can give information. The app will take information, like a name, number and email address and create a QR code so you can exchange your information. The user can also create a QR Code containing a text message and/or url.
The QR codes can be printed on posters, t-shirts, business cards - really, on just about anything. U.S. automakers, professional sports teams and other industries are beginning to use QR codes in marketing and advertising to drive consumers to websites.
Utilizing its in-depth experience from developing the QR Code, DENSO's new reader application has high recognition performance due to its quick reading speed, and its ability to read complicated QR codes where the pixels are smaller due to the amount of information, as well as smaller-sized QR codes, from a distant position. Once the QR code iPhone's camera recognizes the QR Code, it will auto-zoom on the code up to a maximum of three times - the download is nearly instantaneous. The application also has a function that can automatically focus on the area that is tapped on the screen to get a more clear focus on the QR Code.
Starting with this software for the iPhone, DENSO WAVE looks to widely expand its QR Code reader software business to other information and digital devices.
What is a QR Code?
The Quick Response (QR) Code is a two-dimensional code developed at DENSO Corporation's Industrial Systems Product Division (currently separated in 2001 to become DENSO WAVE Incorporated) in 1994.
The code was originally developed to manage automotive component inventories in DENSO plants. Traditional bar codes were conventionally used, but as the need increased to include more information in a limited space, DENSO set up a team in 1992 to develop a new code, and in two years the QR Code was developed.
The QR Code carries information in both the vertical and horizontal direction, which allows it to store up to several hundred times the amount of data carried by a bar code. Over 7,000 numeric characters can be encoded in one QR code.
The QR Code has position detection patterns located at the three corners of the code, which enable reader equipment to quickly and accurately read the code from any direction.
Since the QR Code was originally developed for factory use, one of the development focuses was to create a code that could withstand stains and damage. Through this development, the code's data can be restored even if a maximum of 30 percent of the code is damaged.
The patent rights for the code are owned by DENSO WAVE, but the specifications and use of the code were made open and free to the public to widely expand its use in the market. The code was also approved as an ISO international standard in 2000. In Japan, where the QR Code holds commanding share for two dimensional codes, it has been widely used in production and distribution management. And, since QR Code reader functions were installed to cellular phones in early 2000, their usage has vastly expanded to the consumer market in areas including, advertising and marketing, business cards, ticket passes, coupons and more.

DLP Front Projector Technology Turns Virtually Every Surface Into Interactive Experience
Inventor Marshall Capps recognized as 'Fast Company's 100 Most Creative People in Business' for 2010
LAS VEGAS, June 9 -- Texas Instruments (TI) (NYSE: TXN) DLP® Products invented the ability for consumers to interact with a projector's beam of light from anywhere in the room; on virtually any surface without the need for cumbersome calibration.
The interactive functionality from DLP technology has already been recognized and adopted by multiple leading manufacturers. Specific models from the following manufacturers will include the option to display content as either 3D or as 2D with interactivity:
-- Acer
-- BenQ
-- Dell
-- InFocus
-- ViewSonic
This technology was invented by TI engineer Marshall Capps and DLP was the first projection technology to implement interactive projection. Marshall was recently acknowledged for this innovation in the June issue of Fast Company as one of the "100 Most Creative People in Business."
"My mom is a teacher and I heard her frustration expressed more than once about the limitations of being tied to the front of the room when teaching - she couldn't help kids out in the back of the class without stopping the lesson and having kids out of their chairs creating a disturbance," said Capps of his invention. "I thought of a way to remedy these issues and created something that allows presenters to spend more time sharing information in a collaborative way."
DLP's interactive technology allows users to digitally make notes on the projected image with a handheld pen device. Digital patterns from the pen are detected and then sent to the projector over a radio frequency. All information is passed to the computer in the same way as any other mouse or pointer device - you can use this with any software, on any surface without purchasing any additional hardware beyond the pen and projector.
Unlike other interactive projectors, this DLP technology doesn't require calibration steps and doesn't tie the presenter to the screen or front of the room. He or she can move about the room, or hand the pen to someone at the back of the room to interact with the projected content.
"The value of an interactive solution is undeniable," said John R. Martin, Ed.D., Director of Learning Resources, Tarrant County College Northwest Campus. "When people have the opportunity to be a part of the presentation, information seems to be better understood and retained, making a DLP Projector more of a collaboration tool than before."
DLP Projector technology including interactivity, 3D-ready and lamp-free projectors will be on display at DLP booth #C4717.
DLP display technology from Texas Instruments offers clarity down to the most minute detail, delivering pictures rich with color, contrast and brightness projectors for business, home, professional venue, digital cinema (DLP Cinema®) and large screen HDTVs. Many of the world's top projection and display manufacturers design, manufacture and market products based on DLP technology. DLP is the only imaging technology with a legacy in digital cinema where it set the industry standard demonstrated by the deployment of DLP Cinema technology in over 14,000 screens worldwide. At the heart of every DLP chip is an array of up to 2.2 million microscopic mirrors, which switch incredibly fast to create a high-resolution, highly reliable, full-color image. DLP technology's chip architecture and inherent speed advantage provides razor-sharp images and excellent reproduction of fast motion video. Since early 1996, more than 20 million DLP subsystems have been shipped. For more information, please visit http://www.dlp.com.

NEW YORK, June 9 -- New York may be reclaiming its title as a graffiti capital. But instead of subway cars and alley walls, tagging has gone digital.
YrWall, an interactive digital graffiti wall, http://vimeo.com/10878138, makes its North American debut as one of the coolest new technologies Internet Week (June 7-14) attendees can demo at the festival's digital playground.
The 9'x6' wall lets users create graffiti using a modified spray paint can that 'sprays' infra red light, which is tracked by a computer vision system as it moves across the screen.
The digital paint appears wherever the can is sprayed, just like spraying paint on a real wall.
In addition to a wide palette of paint colors, users can create unique digital graffiti art with features such as animated stars, swirls, drip effect paint and a variety of stencils.
Green Day and Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz were some of the first taggers to use the interactive digital graffiti wall at the November MTV European Music Awards 2009 in Berlin.
YrWall, http://vimeo.com/10878138, was created by the British company Lumacoustics and is being distributed in the United States by Las Vegas-based 360Brandvision.
Lumacoustics is a creative company researching, designing and building interactive and engaging visual experiences. The company provides services to digital, experiential and event agencies to give customers an unforgettable, immersive and interactive experience.

Alcatel-Lucent Raises Bar in Optical Transport With First Commercially Available Single Carrier 100G Using 'Next-Generation Coherent' Technology
Offering Highest Performance and Longest Transmission Reach - Critical Element in High Leverage Network(TM) Architecture
PARIS, June 9, 2010-- Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today continued
its innovation in optical networking with the announcement of the first
commercially available solution to carry a single carrier 100 gigabit per
second (100G) on a wavelength through the innovative use of emerging
'Next-Generation Coherent' technology. With this announcement Alcatel-Lucent
is moving the market into the commercial deployment era of 100G next
generation coherent technology.
Designed to address the booming bandwidth demands driven by
video streaming, web applications, file sharing and high definition movies,
next-generation coherent technology is the next step in 100G optical
networking, offering unprecedented resilience to optical transmission
impairments across the network. This enables 100G rates on each wavelength,
supporting for example the transfer of over 100,000 MP3 files in 60 seconds
or over 15,000 HDTV channels concurrently streamed live.
Single carrier next-generation coherent technology also offers
significantly higher integration and longer transmission reach with
significantly lower network complexity, operational costs and power
consumption. Next-generation coherent technology also delivers unprecedented
compatibility between 100G and lower speed transport infrastructures (such as
10G and 40G).
All of these features make this industry-first solution from
Alcatel-Lucent the ideal solution for carriers who want investment-protection
by scaling their backbone and metro networks from 10G to 40G to 100G without
performance degradation, or an economically viable platform for new optical
networking deployments.
"Driven by increasing network bandwidth demands, service
providers are looking for future-proof backbone infrastructures that can
effectively scale in capacity and reach without requiring expensive network
overbuilds," said Dana Cooperson, Vice-President Network Infrastructure at
Ovum. "Infrastructure that can adapt easily to include coherent 100G (and
40G) transmission and scale to multi-terabits, such as Alcatel-Lucent has
announced as ready for deployment, is essential to enabling tomorrow's
high-bandwidth applications. And as one of only a few leaders in both IP/MPLS
and optical infrastructure, Alcatel-Lucent is in a good position to advance
the close integration of the IP and optical layers to further optimize
networks."
Currently available on the 1830 Photonic Service Switch (PSS),
this technology, which leverages innovations from the Bell Labs,
Alcatel-Lucent's research arm and in-house developments in optical
networking, is also being deployed on all of Alcatel-Lucent's dense
wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) platforms. This 100G next-generation
coherent offering is a key element of Alcatel-Lucent's High Leverage
Network(TM) (HLN) architecture to help service providers offer a
differentiated service experience to end-users, while minimizing their total
cost of ownership.
Underscoring today's launch, the 100G-capable Alcatel-Lucent
1830 PSS has been selected by SOFTBANK TELECOM Corp. to upgrade its backbone
network and is being showcased at the ongoing Interop Tokyo 2010 exhibition,
where Alcatel-Lucent is partnering with SOFTBANK TELECOM to provide the
network infrastructure carrying live data traffic associated with the event.
Additionally, Alcatel-Lucent's next-generation coherent technology has
already been successfully tested with Tier-1 customers worldwide, including
Telefonica.
"With the availability today of our 100G DWDM solution,
Alcatel-Lucent further evolves and differentiates its optical networking
proposition to deliver new value and revenue protection to its customers,"
said James Watt, head of Alcatel-Lucent's Optics activities. "Our in-house
innovation capabilities and strategy execution are a new proof of our
commitment to partner with service providers for the development of new
sustainable business models. This is where bandwidth growth is achieved while
minimizing their total cost of ownership, including energy and space
savings."
The web conference will take place June 9, 2009 at 7AM PST/
10AM EST / 4PM CET and will be hosted by Sam Bucci, VP Terrestrial Portfolio
Management, Optics and Alberto Valsecchi, VP Marketing, Optics.
To access the session please use the following information:
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions at the
end of the presentation.

The Alcatel-Lucent High Leverage Network(TM) (HLN)
architecture addresses the dual challenges of simultaneously scaling and
managing network capacity to meet increasing bandwidth demand while
delivering differentiated, revenue generating services. It achieves this by
delivering scalable bandwidth at the lowest cost per bit and by embedding
intelligence in the network to enable dynamic service creation and delivery.
The foundation for the Alcatel-Lucent Application Enablement
(http://www2.alcatel-lucent.com/application_enablement) vision, the HLN
architecture collapses multiple complex costly overlay networks into a
simpler, fully optimized network that leverages technical innovations and
embraces existing environments.

Malware-Control Revolutionizes the Protection of Corporate Networks From Targeted Attacks
PARIS, June 9, 2010--
- New Solution Offers Radically Different Approach to Malware Mitigation
and Helps Information Security Professionals Effectively Reduce Risks
Lexsi Group, an international leader in information security, announced
today the launch of Malware-Control, a corporate malware blacklist that
protects organizations from targeted attacks used for organized, online
crime. The solution offers a radically different approach to protecting
invaluable company information by blocking outgoing malicious communication,
rather than attempting to block malwares from entering corporate networks.
"Our biggest challenges were developing an exhaustive protection solution
and guaranteeing traffic performance, while offering a simple and quick
integration into existing systems," said William Fox, product manager. "After
three years of research, we discovered a blacklist model which was the most
relevant and most effective."
Despite increasing security budgets and increased efforts to reduce
exposure to liability, approximately five percent of corporate systems are
still infected. In fact, more than 50 percent of the latest malwares manage
to get through most anti-malware protection platforms.
Malware-Control offers an alternative, game-changing strategy to malware
mitigation. Its internal mechanics rely on the identification of "command and
control" servers receiving the sensitive data from infected networks, and
stops malware when it tries to send data out.
"The race to keep corporate networks clean from malwares has reached its
limits," said Fox. "It's a dead-end. We now need to reconsider what is really
at stake. In the end, the real issue is not to have grey or confirmed
malwares in the network. The issue is to block sensitive data going out of
the company."
Malware-Control can easily be integrated with existing security solutions
for added protection, and offers a more reliable and cost-effective approach
to protecting confidential and proprietary files.
Visit http://www.malware-control.com and run the one-minute Safe Network
Scan to test your corporate network security and malware mitigation layers.
This test is an industry first, is free and instantly uncovers blind spots
remaining from the whole network security chain.
Additional information, including technical support, pricing and a brief
video (http://www.youtube.com/user/epsci2001) overview are also available on
the site.

Savant Desktop and In-Wall iPad Docks Mark the Beginning of a New Era in Affordable Touch Panel Solutions
Superior functionality combined with ease of configuration and affordability driving homeowners to Savant's iPad(TM) solution
OSTERVILLE, Mass., June 9 -- Savant(TM) Systems LLC, the world leader in advanced Apple®-based home automation and control technology, has announced the introduction of two premium iPad in-home application docks that enable users to conveniently operate their iPad from a desktop or in-wall cradle. Savant's new docks allow consumers to purchase five, six, even seven iPad controllers for the price of one traditional touch panel. Savant has changed the landscape of home control and entertainment by leveraging the speed, power and affordability of the Apple iPad. Both new docks are now shipping to authorized dealers.
Both the desktop and in-wall docks enable consumers to take full advantage of Savant's extensive experience writing Apple software applications for the home automation market place, resulting in an iPad-based control solution with rich graphics that is easily tailored to the needs of each end user. Savant has established the iPad as the most powerful and versatile portable device for any home, and combined with the company's legendary On-Screen Display (OSD) technology, has raised the bar with easily customizable, user-friendly operability. "With Savant's iPad app, you have an Apple machine talking to an Apple machine," explained CEO Robert Madonna. "Savant controllers have an Apple computer embedded internally and our user interface was engineered specifically for the iPad, making traditional control applications look antiquated by comparison," Madonna added. "Our first-to-market dock products make it possible for Savant dealers to provide far more overall system value at a fraction of the cost to the consumer than with any other competitive automation technology," Madonna concluded. Savant's configuration tool enables integrators to custom build iPad-based solutions requiring dramatically less programming and set-up time than traditional control platforms.
Desktop: Savant's Desktop Dock (MSRP $350) transforms the iPad into a cost-effective desktop touch panel that powers the iPad while allowing for full navigation of Savant's automation and control solutions as well as the numerous applications available for the iPad. The dock safely secures the iPad without sacrificing the convenience or portability of the device in any way. Savant's desktop package is comprised of a charging cradle and power supply.
In-wall: Savant's In-Wall Dock (MSRP $500) secures the Apple iPad within an attractive housing, making it easy for the homeowner to utilize the iPad as the most powerful and cost-effective touch panel interface on the market. The in-wall dock supports both landscape and portrait (horizontal and vertical) installation configurations and provides a removal notification warning, which will alert you if the iPad has been removed from the dock without authorization. The In-Wall Dock is comprised of a docking cradle paired with a low-profile magnetically attached faceplate.
Dealer Testimonial: "We had an end-user reach out to us who owned a legacy automation system in his theater room, along with a totally independent keypad- based multi-room audio system. This client expressed an interest in finding the most advanced iPad-based control option, so we designed a Savant package for the customer that accommodated all of the automation expectations for the entire home. Set-up and customization with Savant is an intuitive and efficient process--programming time was tenfold less than the old legacy solution. Savant's iPad-based system is fast, stable and completely reliable; the client couldn't be more thrilled."

El Fresko Technologies and Digistore Solutions International announce technology partnership
El Fresko to provide MagnaStor(TM) pre-integrated with Digistore Solutions Centurion DiscHub
CALGARY and MELBOURNE, Australia, June 9 -- El Fresko Technologies and Digistore Solutions International are pleased to announce a technology partnership to provide a robust compliant archiving and e-Discovery solution for small to medium size enterprises.
The technology alliance certifies the integration of MagnaStor(TM), El Fresko's purpose-built compliant archiving file system, with Digistore Solutions' Centurion DiscHub, a high-capacity desktop optical appliance. The solution works out of the box, enabling organizations to plug in cost-effective, next-generation compliance and easily scale the solution to meet their future needs.
"Tackling compliance requires a proactive approach to eliminate risk. The partnership between El Fresko and Digistore Solutions International gives companies a secure migration path to next-generation magnetic media while maintaining the benefits of an optical backup," said Mark Fowlie, CEO of El Fresko Technologies. "Companies must ensure their strategy is sound and recognize that authenticity of data is as important as its accessibility. Our joint solution provides exactly that - the ability to continuously and conclusively verify the chain of custody for any file, ultra-fast online access and guaranteed long-term preservation."
The combined solution from El Fresko and Digistore Solutions International provides companies with the highest level of compliance protection. MagnaStor(TM) is deployed as the primary archive file system, providing WORM (write-once, read-many) capability on magnetic disk. As a second layer of protection, MagnaStor(TM) replicates data to the Centurion DiscHub automatically. This leverages the long-term data-preservation capabilities of established optical media and combines the benefits of next-generation magnetic media, such as fast online access to data. The replication of data to Centurion DiscHub ensures companies have a fully synchronized copy of their file system contents and audit history. MagnaStor(TM) also "self repairs" any files at risk of being lost to disk failure by automatically rebuilding them from the Centurion DiscHub optical library.
"El Fresko's MagnaStor(TM) is sophisticated compliant archiving technology and it complements our Centurion DiscHub extremely well," said Geoff MacLeod-Smith, CEO for Digistore Solutions International Pty Ltd. "The pre-integrated solution provides companies the ability to access their information at disk drive speed, which is a level of performance to which businesses have become accustomed, while ensuring it is fully backed up on optical media."

HORSHAM, Pa. and ST. LOUIS, June 9 -- Charter Communications, Inc. and the Mobile Devices and Home business of Motorola, Inc (NYSE:MOT) announced today that Charter will expand high-definition (HD) services for its customers utilizing switched digital video (SDV) equipment and services supplied by Motorola, allowing for more content to be delivered to customers without increasing network bandwidth.
"Charter plans to have launched SDV in more than 60 percent of our footprint by the end of 2010," said Marwan Fawaz, Charter's Executive Vice President, Operations and Chief Technology Officer. "Our goal is to deliver value to our customers, offering the best choices in quality content, including high-definition programming and fast, reliable Internet speeds. "As more of our digital customers upgrade to HD televisions and equipment, Charter is delivering more HD content - from movies to series and educational shows - to bring customers an expanded, enhanced viewing experience," said Doug Ike, Vice President of Advanced Video Engineering for Charter.
Charter's deployments now bring total operator commitments for the Motorola SDV solution to more than 30 million homes passed. Motorola's SDV portfolio encompasses asset, stream, session and edge management products that enable providers to reclaim bandwidth, deliver personalized content to consumers, and attract additional customers with niche programming.
"In a world with increasing demand for bandwidth, SDV is an outstanding solution to consumers' demand for access to a greater variety of programming," said John Burke, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Motorola Mobile Devices and Home. Netshoes Ushers in World Cup 2010 Shopping Season with Personalized Online Customer Experience Powered by Baynote
Leading Brazilian Sports Retailer Uses Baynote to Increase Conversion Rate by 30 Percent
SAN JOSE, Calif., June 9 -- Baynote, the innovator in adaptive Web solutions, announced today that Netshoes, a leading Brazilian sports retailer, has selected the company's recommendation technology to deliver customers a more adaptive online shopping experience. Within one month of deploying the Baynote Collective Intelligence Platform(TM), Netshoes improved its conversion rate by 30 percent and increased its average order value (AOV) by 10 percent.
"The results with Baynote were immediate and far-reaching," said Marcio Kumruian, CEO and founder, Netshoes. "The increased conversion rate continues to contribute significantly to Netshoes' bottom line, and we're really well positioned to take advantage of the influx of Brazilian National team fans coming to our site this World Cup season."
Netshoes is Brazil's largest online retailer of sports shoes, jerseys and accessories with over 300,000 unique daily visitors. The retailer's manual merchandising of what they assumed to be natural complementary products required a great deal of effort with little return on investment. Netshoes chose Baynote because it combined the power of crowd-driven recommendations with easy to use merchandising controls. During the lead up to the World Cup, where Netshoes is expecting a spike in traffic from Brazilian National team fans, visitors will benefit from a more personal shopping experience that adapts to their individual interests and intent in real-time.
"We have really come to rely on how the Baynote system is able to anticipate trends and automatically display the most popular and soon to be hit items," said Pedro Reiss, e-commerce director for Netshoes' partner agency F.biz. "And during a heavy shopping season like World Cup, where we have specific search campaigns targeting Brazilan team fans, we also like the platform's powerful expert-controlled merchandising capabilities."
Netshoes began using Baynote before the World Cup season to optimize the shopping experience for its customers. For example, Baynote allowed Netshoes to "blacklist" certain soccer jerseys that would not be recommended as complementary products for products from rival teams. These recommendations would seem otherwise logical, were it not for the intense rivalry between supporters of different clubs. During the World Cup, Netshoes has invested heavily in a large inventory of National jerseys as well as in search marketing. Because such a large number of patriotic first time visitors are expected, Netshoes will be "pinning" the Brazilian national team jersey to every product page hoping to turn these first time visitors into purchasers and later into long term customers.
Launched in 2006, Baynote's Collective Intelligence Platform(TM) delivers on-demand recommendation technology and social search. Baynote's SaaS solutions are easy to implement on top of existing infrastructure to increase online revenue, leads, and impressions. Baynote delivers billions of recommendations each month to hundreds of leading enterprise, media and e-commerce companies, including Expedia, Intuit, Motorola, NASA, Symantec, and Urban Outfitters. Anticipating the upcoming release of Apple's iOS 4, with its ability to play streaming radio in the background, appMobi also released source code that will allow any radio station to create a branded, multitasking native app that will run on Apple iPad, iPhone (all versions), iPod Touch, and any Android device.
appMobi is a new type of cloud-based "Software as a Service" (SaaS) provider, offering its customers scalable, pay-as-you-go development and deployment tools, Amazon AWS edge-caching servers for hosted application deployment, PhoneGap support, analytics, in-app payments, and advertising. TPACK's 40/80 Gbps Packet Transport Switch and Traffic Manager Series Now Available for Demonstration and Evaluation
COPENHAGEN, Denmark, June 9 -- TPACK (http://www.TPACK.com), an industry leading provider of cutting-edge silicon ICs that provide core data transport and switching functions to leading telecom and networking equipment suppliers, today announced that the TPX4000 series of Packet Transport switches is ready for demonstration and evaluation of MPLS-TP on TPACK's reference system, 'Springbank'.
With its focus on Carrier Ethernet and MPLS-TP support, the TPX4000 series addresses the emerging need for packet intelligence in Transport Networks. It includes a number of features not typically included in Ethernet switches or NPUs, such as full line speed and support of the latest OAM standards. TPX4000 addresses 40 Gbps applications. Its unique 'C2C' expansion interface allows expansion to 80 Gbps capacity. A 100 Gbps switch solution is in development.
The TPX4000 series is based upon TPACK's SOFTSILICON concept, which combines the advantages of standard ASSP chips with the flexibility of FPGA chips. This allows new functionality to be added during development and offer upgradeability to new international standards, and is at the same time a cost competitive alternative to the standard ASSP or NPU solutions.
"TPX4000 follows in the footsteps of the switch solutions we are already supplying to the market-leading system suppliers, and extends capacity and performance to new heights," explained John Jorgensen, TPACK's Vice President of Sales and Business Development. "As is the case with other members of our growing family of Packet Transport switches, the TPX4000 utilizes our innovative SOFTSILICON technology which not only provides enhanced functionality over competing ASIC-based solutions, but also delivers a lower total cost of ownership. In an industry that is on a never-ending quest to deliver higher bandwidth at lower costs, we believe the TPX4000 is the ideal solution for this ever-evolving market."
About TPX4000 Series
TPACK's TPX4000 series of 40/80 Gbps Packet Transport switches combines packet processing and traffic management in an affordable, high-performance single chip solution.
The TPX4000 series includes extensive hardware-based OAM support that allows performance measurements and protection switching of thousands of packet flows in 'SONET/SDH quality.' To optimize performance in demanding high-performance applications, the feature-rich TPX4000 series supports advanced traffic queuing, prioritization and shaping functions as well as packet based synchronization.
TPACK delivers cutting edge Silicon ICs providing core data transport and switching functions to leading Telecom and Networking equipment suppliers. TPACK's SOFTSILICON products support the fastest deployment of new Carrier Class Packet and Optical Network standards, providing the most flexible, cost and power effective implementations throughout the life of the equipment. TPACK's customer base includes Tier 1 equipment providers who account for more than 50% of the optical transport equipment market. TPACK is a privately held company headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark with offices in Palo Alto, California.
