After trying out this beautiful TFT from Samsung, my eyes have never been as comfortable. The eyestrain is gone, and for one thing, productivity is up. I never knew how much uncomfortable CRT monitors are after you have been away from using them for a week. Visiting a friend's place, I had to use his computer for a bit and yes, he owned a 19" CRT monitor. Even with the refresh rate pumped to 85Hz, I felt a little qweasy after only 20 minutes of use and had to leave after a half an hour. My eyes just couldn't take it. I don't know whether it was the radiation from the monitor, or just the fuzziness of the text, but I just wanted to go home and use the TFT again.
I have recently had the chance of getting the MSI 845 Ultra-ARU motherboard and to say the least, I'm very impressed. As you probably know, MSI is at the forefront of the motherboard and video card sector, and the 845 Ultra-ARU is includes everything the end user would want or need.

This product enables you to adjust your CPU fan to Low, Medium, or High speed depending on what you're doing at that time to reduce unnecessary noise. At $7.95 will it hold up to the test? Read the review here.
Some new beta detonator drivers have been found at Asus' FTP site. Remember, the drivers are in beta stage, so I don't recommend downloading these unless you feel comfortable with having uncompleted and potentially unstable drivers. [PAGEBREAK]

When I read this, I just noticed the date: May 6th! Someone tell them they are a couple of days off.
The Sum of All Fears game is scheduled to be released to coincide with film at the end of the month, and like the film, will reinvent some of the Clancy universe. Jack Ryan, now played by Ben Affleck who is taking over the role from Harrison Ford, is not only younger, but is now a CIA analyst instead of the agencies director. None of this really alters the game, but other Clancy characters, like John Clark, also return in less lofty positions. Instead of being the commander of international anti-terrorist operation, "Rainbow" -- the actual "Rainbow Six" -- Clark is back in his old job as leader of a domestic anti-terrorist team.[PAGEBREAK] GameSpy has more
I just got out of my chem final which sux0red. Anyway, AMDZone has a review of a very cheap case. Those are the kind of cases I buy for normal use. Nothing special.
The following is from an article taken from Digitimes.com
Following a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in March, Taiwan-based Winbond Electronics announced on May 2 the signing of a definitive agreement to license 11-nanometer DRAM technology from Infineon Technologies.
The contract, signed by Winbond president C.C. Chang and Infineon general manager of memory products Harald Eggers, states that Winbond will manufacture commodity DRAM for Infineon using 0.11-micron processing, Winbond said in a statement. Infineon will begin transferring technology to Winbonds 8-inch facilities in Hsinchu in May, while installation of key 0.11-micron technology equipment will begin in the fourth quarter. Pilot wafer production is scheduled for January 2003, the statement said.
The two companies expect to reach 0.11-micron volume production within a year, by May 2003, Winbond reported. In the interim, Winbond will send its engineers to Infineon in Germany for training, while Infineon engineers will provide initial manufacturing support at Winbonds plant in Taiwan, said the Taiwan DRAM maker.
This cooperation between Infineon and Winbond comes just after the signing of a non-binding MOU between Infineon and Taiwan-based memory maker Nanya Technology. Infineon is plowing ahead with expansion plans in the wake of the cancelled deal between rivals Micron Technology and Hynix Semiconductor.
Well, there is a lot of controversy right now with the UT2003 demo and videos that have been leaked. If anyone has the original zip file with the demo, contact me as soon as possible. One day, the links were everywhere and the next, they've vanished off the net. The original link I found to the demo was over here, it looks like the article was edited though, the whole content pertaining to the demo is erased. Go figure.[PAGEBREAK] I have talked to a couple people on EfNet who continue to rave about how great the demo (beta?) is. Personally, the zip I got crashed my system not even 5 seconds into the game. However, the installer and file dates all seemed to be legit. The zip's filesize was around 150MB. I don't think there is more than one version of the demo floating around, so it looks like some people are having luck with the one that was found. The demo was apparently also not designed for the public, it was supposed to be a corporate version. (?? meaning, for beta testers? internal? i'm not sure... but these guys have the CoOp version)
What is interesting is that the links to the demo's were posted on dedicated UT2003 sites, but nothing is in the archives of ISONews.com of anything being released (???). The demo was also not packed with any .nfo file. I do know that the file is really out there, because I downloaded it... and after crashing my system, erased it. I figured I'd wait until the official demo came out in a month, and when I'd have time to upgrade. Also assuming that the links would be all over the place, so I would be able to provide something for you guys. Gimmie time, as soon as I get my hands on a link, it's going public. And there were links all over the place for a hot second, now we just need to refind them and offer a link. There are also screenshots from the demo all over the place.

Active-Dardware, yet another Ti 4400 review from Visiontek With each new generation of Nvidia graphics cards, new technology has been unleashed on the market. With the advent of the GeForce 3, that technology was the NV20 GPU. Now, it's the GeForce 4 that has taken center-stage, and with it, the NV25 GPU on the Titanium series of this graphic card.

I was hoping to get one of these, but that didn't happen.
Via hopes that very soon they may well be in a store/car/set-top-box/microwave/fridge/home internet gateway near you – it just depends what strange devices engineers from all walks of life can come up with.

The Best Buy cash registers used a Wi-Fi network, which uses a standard known as 802.11b. It runs on three channels in the unregulated 2.4GHZ spectrum, which is also used by cordless phones, microwave ovens and many Bluetooth products. Graphics chipmaker 3DLabs plans to re-enter the consumer PC market this year, once the company's acquisition by sound card maker Creative Labs is completed, a company executive said.
3DLabs' current products are limited to graphics processors for workstations, high-end PCs used for demanding tasks such as graphics editing and scientific modeling.
But the company is convinced it has a winner with its new P10 design for graphics processors. The technology is likely to find its way into high-end graphics cards that will be sold under the Creative name, said John Schimpf, director of developer relations for 3Dlabs.
Geforce Zone, Geforce 4 MX 460 review Gamers around the globe have been very excited these past few months; this is because of NVIDIA’s awesome new GeForce4 series. With higher core and memory speeds, along with improved architectural efficiency and new features like the Accuview Antialiasing, the GeForce4 series delivers insane visual quality and frame rates that gamers have only dreamt about till now! Yeah, until they figure out that the GF4MX is a better GF2.
DeviantPC, Epox 8K3A (+Corsair PC2700 RAM) Review In recent times Epox have moved to the forefront of motherboard manufacturers to take on the big boys, Asus and MSI. They are especially a hit with overclockers, pushing FSBs reaching over 200MHz in extreme cases. Obviously to hit these highs the boards they produce have to be rock stable, another great feature of the company's products.
Until recently the quest for a silent yet still cool PC was near impossible without the aid of watercooling or blowholes in every available orifice.
Now there is an alternative in the VIA C3 "ultra low power" CPU, but is it the answer to all our prayers or are there sacrifices which must be made?
The exploit appears to have been independently discovered by Macromedia, which has already issued a fixed version of the Flash player, and by security software firm eEye Digital Security, which was credited last year with discovering and naming the Code Red virus.
Yep, my school may be a tech school, but I'm like the only one that knows computers well on my floor. Everyone knows porn though.[PAGEBREAK] In a presentation here at the CanSecWest security conference, David Dittrich, senior security engineer with the University of Washington, said that university politics and a lack of emphasis on computer security have made college networks rife with online piracy and hacking.
The networks "are a real fertile ground," Dittrich said in an interview after the presentation. "There is a responsibility that the universities are not meeting."
That sux0rs that all these tech sites are shutting down. I know how it feels with school and everything though.[PAGEBREAK] Well, I sent out a communique to the MR staff a little while ago and they should all be aware of this by now. I've decided to basically shutdown MaxReboot. Not because we are having money issues or legal issues. But because I'm having severe personal issues happening in my life. I've basically outgrown MaxReboot and it has become just too much for me to handle. My personal life with my fiance has turned very sour, due in large of the amount of time I need to spend on MR every day and I need to fix this asap. I also need to concentrate my efforts on schooling. I need to finish my computer engineering degree.
Seems that this has become a weekly trend on the web now a days. Tech web sites shutting down... But MR is not really shutting down for say ...
I will be transfering the domain to http://www.EnvyNews.com. My good pal Neil Yates runs this fine website and was a clear as water choice for me. He has updated quality reviews almost every day. Great news and a super staff. Hopefully you will find a new home there! I will also be transfering the Forums user database to Neil. This will mean that you will not need to reregister and I hope you will treat him as good as you have treated MR in past.
Everyone out there that helped make MR what it was today; I'm eternelly grateful and impressed by the amount of work and dedication you have put into MR. You all know who you are, especially: Ace, Paps, Earthman, BigO, Kingbob, Efish, Sid, AG, Brandon, Digital Oracle, Bull, etc ... Huge praise to you all!!!
The transfer will be done tomorrow and may take a couple of days to take in effect. In the mean time, check out Envy News and I'll see you there!!!

Hot off the presses and into our labs comes the latest and most innovative motherboard to hit the market in almost 10 years. The ABIT MAX dares to go where no board has gone before and is the first motherboard to be completely Legacy free. This is taking a risky leap into the future for the company, as no one yet knows how the public will receive this board.
The GeForce4 Ti 4200 is based on the NV25 chip, the same chip as the other Ti cards, which means that the 4200 brings all the DirectX8.1 functionality as well. The main differences between the Ti 4200 and the others is in the core clock speed and the memory clock and configurations. There are two variants of the Ti 4200 to be made available, both having a core clock speed of 250Mhz (50Mhz lower than that of the high end Ti 4600), but one will be available with 64MB of 250Mhz DDR Ram and another with 128MB of 222Mhz DDR RAM (in BGA form). It’s expected that the US prices for these boards will be in the order of $179 for the 64MB board and $199 for the 128MB board; I’m told the UK price of the 64MB board is to be in the region of £160 to £180 (inc. VAT); however, remember this is nVIDIA’s estimate and it’s up to the board vendors to decide on final pricing.
Score another one for the .GNU peeps. Microsoft should educate its partners more.[PAGEBREAK] H.D. Moore, a hacker and senior security analyst for Digital Defense, told attendees of the CanSecWest security conference here that the .Net Framework could nearly eliminate some types of vulnerabilities that plague Microsoft products today, but that the server software is still easy to misconfigure, especially since much of the documentation teaches insecure programming.
"It doesn't make a difference how secure products are initially, but how you program them, that counts," Moore said. "And developers are being told the wrong things to do in a lot of situations."
I'm sure this case will be more and more drawn out as time passes.
Nine states seeking stiff antitrust sanctions against the software giant cited a Jan. 3, 1999, e-mail to Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates outlining a plan to use the dominant Windows operating system to promote Microsoft's Netshow media streaming software over that offered by RealNetworks.
