Unlike other products on the market with low RDSON/high IDS performance, Silego continues to maintain an industry-leadership role in announcing five new, robust GFET3 and HFET1 integrated power switches (IPSs) designed to operate over the -40 C to 125 C extended industrial temperature range.
MUNICH, Nov. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Silego Technology made this announcement at a press conference held in advance of electronica, the World's Leading Trade Fair for Electronic Components, Systems and Applications, in Munich, Germany. At this conference, Silego made several other product announcements that Silego believes further reinforces Silego's position as a market leader in Power Products with advanced system protection features and NVM-Configurable Mixed-signal ICs.
Addressing pcb-space-constrained applications in the industrial, in-cabin infotainment, and enterprise/embedded computing markets, these five new products include a suite of system-level protection features. In space-constrained applications, elevated operating temperatures place additional performance burdens on system protection devices. In many cases, system designers are forced to select less robust products or implement discrete, pcb-space-consuming alternatives when in-circuit ambient temperatures exceed 85 C or 105 C.
For supply-voltage applications up to 5 V, Silego announced the 8.4 m /4 A SLG59M1657V, the 17 m /2.5 A SLG59M1658V, and the 13 m /3.5 A SLG59M1707V. In addition, the SLG59M1707V's analog current monitor output feature offers substantial system BOM cost/pcb savings by eliminating the need for an external current shunt resistor, a difference/level-shifting amplifier, and associated passive components to measure directly FET current. Depending upon the application's maximum operating current, pcb footprints range from 1.6 mm2 to 4 mm2.
For supply-voltage applications up to 24 V, Silego announced the 13.3 m /4 A SLG59H1013V and the 13.1 m /3.5 A SLG59H1016V, in 4.8 mm2 package sizes. Like the SLG59M1707V, both products include an analog current monitor feature, an open-drain FAULT output, and fast output voltage discharge.
Using Silego's proprietary MOSFET design IP, these extended industrial temperature range, robust integrated system protection devices maintain ultra-stable, low RDSONs across the applied input voltage range. Applying Silego's proprietary CuFET(TM) technology, Silego's design engineers deftly package these products in low thermal-resistance, RoHS-compliant footprints that generate low thermal gradients in these space-constrained, high-current applications.

Continental Navigates the Future of Connectivity at AutoMobility LA
-- Continental to demonstrate the Traffic Light Assist function of its cloud-based eHorizon innovation.
-- Dynamic eHorizon® can considerably increase vehicle fuel efficiency by predicting the road ahead. Johann Hiebl, Continental executive vice president of infotainment and connectivity, to discuss the future of infotainment and connectivity during the "New Frontiers of Navigation" panel
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- International technology company Continental is hitting the road to AutoMobility LA, November 14-17, in Los Angeles. Continental will demonstrate its Traffic Light Assist function of its cloud-based dynamic eHorizon innovation. In addition, Continental Executive Vice President of Infotainment and Connectivity Johann Hiebl will participate with a panel of navigation experts to share how Continental is using data from the cloud to predict the road ahead.
A merge between the LA Auto Show Press & Trade Days and the Connected Car Expo, AutoMobility LA, features an all-new Technology Pavilion with more than 50 automotive technology exhibits, including a virtual demonstration of Continental's Traffic Light Assist.
Continental's Traffic Light Assist function knows when the next traffic light will turn red by utilizing eHorizon's ability to receive and process real-time updates based on data from other vehicles' sensors and traffic information sources. This enables eHorizon to factor in dynamic changes to the route such as traffic lights, congestion, accidents and weather conditions, resulting in considerable fuel savings.
"Allowing the driver to know the road ahead makes for safer driving, but the human eye alone cannot detect what is on the other side of a winding road," said Hiebl. "Continental's eHorizon technology and Traffic Light Assist function allows the vehicle to warn the driver of any obstacles and traffic stops, even before they could notice themselves, making for safer and more fuel efficient travel."
By utilizing the cloud and swarm-intelligence for real-time data, eHorizon and its Traffic Light Assist function increases comfort and safety with early notification and a better understanding of the road ahead. If a vehicle or obstacle is a potential hazard to the driver, a visible warning will appear long before the driver or vehicle sensors recognize the issue. This gives the driver time to maintain an informed and smooth driving experience, even through curves and hills. In addition, driver assistance systems, such as braking and steering, can be ready for traffic situations long before the vehicle sensors detect them.
Dynamic eHorizon can enhance a driver's senses
Another essential function of dynamic eHorizon is its ability to be integrated with Continental's latest audio management system, Functional Audio, to create or modify sounds based on the data received. Functional Audio combines all audio sources of a vehicle and can directly transform eHorizon data into audio signals. This is known as sonification or auditory display. Converting data into sound can, for example, help guide a driver's attention. This integrated solution guides the driver's attention to what is most important. For example, the information from the eHorizon can be converted to a sound played from the right side only if the driver needs to be focused on that side of the road. With the combination of dynamic eHorizon and a smart Human Machine Interface, Continental is creating a digital co-pilot by enhancing the driver's natural senses.
Hiebl will discuss these latest innovations and how Continental's eHorizon uses cloud and crowd intelligence to enhance the digital map with fresh and accurate information during the New Frontiers of Navigation panel. The discussion is Wednesday, Nov. 16 from 3:15 p.m. to 3:55 p.m. in the Technology Pavilion at the LA Convention Center. Panelists will cover a new global address system, door-to-door mobility, autonomous HD mapping and more.
Stop by Continental's booth for the Traffic Light Assist display and to learn more about how the company is navigating the future of connectivity. Executive interviews are available upon request.

First Device in Family to Implement "Flexible Power Islands"
Silego Technology's SLG46125 Offers the Flexibility of GreenPAK(TM) Programmable Mixed-signal IC Architecture with Dual 45 mO / 2 A P-FET Power Switches
MUNICH, Nov. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Silego Technology announces the SLG46125, further expanding the GreenPAK(TM) (GPAK) family of Programmable Mixed-signal ICs. This newest GPAK can serve as an ultra-small power management IC which contains a rich set of features, including voltage monitoring, power sequencing, reset and power switches that are configurable in settings and interconnect. This device is the first in a series of parts designed to create "Flexible Power Islands" (FPI).
Silego originally made this announcement at a press conference held in advance of electronica, "the World's Leading Trade Fair for Electronic Components, Systems and Applications," in Munich, Germany. At this conference, Silego made several other announcements that we believe reinforces Silego's position as a market leader in Configurable Mixed-signal and Power solutions with advanced system protection features.
There are many challenges when designing power systems for handheld and wearable devices. In each succeeding generation, power systems are becoming more complex, and yet the overall board area devoted to power components keeps getting smaller. To overcome these challenges, Silego has developed the concept of "Flexible Power Islands". Using FPIs, designers can divide their complex power system into some number of local power regions (or islands), each of which includes the power control, power sequencing and power regulation needed to support loads in the immediate vicinity. We believe this technique results in higher performance and a more efficient solution that can be flexibly tailored to the requirements of each individual system.
With the SLG46125, Silego has captured many of these necessary power system functions (power monitoring, sequencing, reset and power switching) in a tiny 1.6 x 2.0 mm 16-pin MSTQFN fully encapsulated plastic package. Using Silego's easy-to-use GUI based GPAK Designer(TM) and GPAK development hardware, designers can quickly and easily implement their unique configuration of the device, thereby customizing the functions to match their unique power requirements.
"Flexible Power Islands are just what our customers have been asking for to address their challenges in developing power systems for ever-more complex mobile devices," states Nathan John, Director of Marketing. "We want to give customers key functions of their power system in a tiny, low cost device. Each of these devices can service the needs of loads in a local region of the printed circuit board. We believe this advancement in architecture will result in big gains in efficiency, while at the same time driving down cost and board space. We believe this is yet another example of how Silego's Configurable Mixed-signal IC (CMIC) strategy provides value to customers."
Since the introduction of the CMIC platform, Silego has developed five generations of CMIC silicon and design tools. Each generation has added functionality and enhanced the design experience. As a result, over 1,300 designs incorporating CMICs by Silego customers have gone into production in almost every end market:
-- Handheld Devices
-- Wearable Electronics

Trimble Introduces Construction Technology Solutions for Small Site and Utility Contractors
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 7, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) introduced today office software, site positioning and machine control solutions designed for site and utility contractors and owner/operators. These solutions offer small to mid-sized contractors a reliable, flexible and affordable option to leverage construction technology.
The announcement was made at Trimble Dimensions.
Office Software for Site Visualization and Layout
Many contractors already use SketchUp Pro for layout and visualization. SketchUp's affordable price point and ease of use make it an ideal solution for small site and utility contractors who do not have a software specialist on staff. Now, SketchUp files can be exported to Trimble(® )SCS900 Site Controller Software using the new Trimble Site Contractor extension for use in site positioning applications.
Site Positioning
Trimble Site Positioning Systems have also made significant improvements for smaller contractors. Trimble SCS900 Site Controller Software has introduced two new capabilities, EZ Level and BaseAnywhere. EZ Level replaces traditional laser transmitters with GNSS or total stations for easy elevation checking when no design is available. BaseAnywhere allows contractors to quickly set up their Trimble SPS585 GNSS Smart Antenna as a base station anywhere on the site, with no survey control necessary, making it much simpler and faster for a non-surveyor to use GNSS. In addition, corrections can now be streamed to the SPS585 using BaseAnywhere and Wi-Fi. No radio is needed, so smaller contractors have a very affordable way to receive GNSS corrections on site.
Machine Control
The Trimble GCS900 Grade Control System can now be installed on many skid steer loader grading attachments from a variety of manufacturers. The installation includes integration to the machine's joystick controls, so contractors can take full advantage of the technology on their machine to increase productivity and accuracy.
"Trimble has made it easier than ever for smaller contractors to take advantage of construction technology," said Scott Crozier, director of marketing for Trimble's Civil Engineering and Construction Division. "With office software, site positioning and machine control solutions designed to make the technology easier to use and more affordable, site and utility contractors are able to enjoy increased productivity gains and efficiency that larger companies benefit from today."

On the Heels of the Successful Crowd-Funding Campaign for Lightseekers, TOMY Prepares for Full-Scale 2017 Launch
Bolstered by 1,635 backers who pledged more than $227,660, PlayFusion and TOMY move full-steam-ahead on revolutionary "toys to life" introduction.
OAK BROOK, Ill., Nov. 4, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- TOMY International, the master toy licensee for the upcoming Lightseekers fantasy adventure role-playing game from PlayFusion, congratulates their partner on an extremely successful Kickstarter campaign that drew 1,635 backers and raised $227,660 for the innovative game and its ground-breaking transmedia platform. Lightseekers is far more than just a game; it's the fusion of fantasy and reality powered by a proprietary technology platform that integrates video games, smart action figures with artificial intelligence, augmented reality, interactive trading cards and more, creating the most ambitious transmedia entertainment platform ever envisioned. TOMY will manufacture, distribute and market the entire toy line including smart figures, accessories, trading cards and more, and is in full-production mode preparing to launch in early 2017.
"We knew when we first met with PlayFusion back in 2014 that the platform they had created was going to not only disrupt the toy and gaming industries, but that it was going to really push the envelope on what a great toy is and can be in the future," said Sarah Moen, Head of Toy and Hobby for TOMY International. "Their Kickstarter campaign has put the property on the map in a significant way, and as we work together with PlayFusion to get ready for the American International Toy Fair in February we not only have a great success story to share with the industry, but we have a community of brand advocates that is looking forward to the product being available in early 2017."
Lightseekers is a story-rich action adventure RPG built for mobile and tablet (available for Mac/PC in 2017) that fuses fantasy and reality through the hi-tech FusionCore, the powerful mini-computer embedded within each action figure and the "brains" behind the smart connected toys. The FusionCore completely eliminates the need for cumbersome NFC portals allowing the game to seamlessly connect to TOMY's 7" collector-quality, articulated smart action figures. The character's unique attributes, accomplishments, social circle and lineage are stored in perpetuity. In other words, the game automatically remembers the last character played, enabling on-the-go play without figures in the state that it was when it was last connected. Any progress made is then updated when the FusionCore is reconnected.
Lightseekers also offers next level interchangeable accessories. Equipping a weapon or accessory onto an action figure will have an immediate effect in the game and vice versa, opening up new abilities and adventures. In addition, flight packs can be added to any hero, allowing players to magically control their in-game character by moving the toy.
TOMY will unveil its Lightseekers line at the American International Toy Fair in New York City in February of 2017.
About PlayFusion
PlayFusion is an independent, employee-owned, game and technology developer with studios in the UK and USA that is pioneering the future of mixed media connected play. PlayFusion's proprietary technology platform uniquely fuses video games, robotics, toys, and transmedia entertainment for game developers, toy manufacturers, and other content and brand owners. PlayFusion recently unveiled their new original IP Lightseekers coming in 2017 along with toys and trading cards from master toy licensee TOMY.

New wearable fitness watch offers features designed for every body
PLANO, Texas, Nov. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Huawei Device USA, a division of Huawei Consumer Business Group, today announced the availability of Huawei Fit, a new wearable device designed to fit every body's fitness needs.
Featuring multi-sport tracking, automatic step count, heart rate and sleep monitoring, as well as smartphone alerts, Huawei Fit will retail for a suggested price of $129.99 USD at Best Buy, Amazon and Newegg.
"Huawei Fit is the next evolution of Huawei wearables, combining learnings from products including the Huawei Watch," said Zhengdong Zhu, president of Huawei Device USA. "We designed Huawei Fit to be the perfect fitness companion, with accurate tracking technology for fitness, heart and sleep. With a long-lasting battery, Huawei Fit is ready for anything and suitable for every body."
A new style of fitness
Huawei Fit is the perfect companion for every body - regardless of fitness level. It bridges the gap between a smartwatch and a fitness tracker, with a stylish design and standard band sizes so you can easily swap for a customized look. The rugged, always-on LCD touch screen delivers important information at a glance, such as time, steps, and heart rate. Switch between preset dial styles--the time is always visible, even in strong light, thanks to the reflective and backlit display, controlled by an ambient light sensor.
The Huawei Fit's body is molded from a single aluminum component, in two finishes: Moonlight Silver and Titanium Grey. Quality manufacturing processes and design enable the Fit to meet 5ATM water resistance standards.
Daily Status Recording
Huawei Fit automatically senses when the wearer is walking, running and sleeping, and monitors these activities, recording the number of steps, distance, calories burned and duration of sleep every day. Through the Huawei Wear app, users can set their goal, and the Huawei Fit will track progress throughout the day.
Advanced automatic heart rate monitoring
Huawei Fit delivers accurate heart rate measurements, thanks to an innovative design and high signal strength, as well as unique skin color detection algorithms to account for different skin tones. Heart rate can be measured manually by accessing the heart rate screen, automatically throughout an exercise session, or continuous all-day monitoring for a detailed view of heart rate over four hours.
During exercise and training modes, five heart rate zones are displayed on the watch in real time. These zones are divided according to the activity: warm up, fat burning, aerobic endurance, anaerobic endurance and maximum effort. When the heart rate approaches the maximum effort zone, the watch will vibrate to alert the user.
Paired with the Huawei Wear app, users can review a daily heart rate curve, including minimum and maximum rates and resting heart rate. It can also provide a health assessment based on heart rate statistics over time.
Multi-sport mode support
Huawei Fit supports multiple forms of exercise, including walking, running, cycling, treadmill workouts and swimming, with different modes monitoring different data. Huawei Fit will automatically identify walking/running status and record data, including goals such as distance, calories, times, fat burning, and aerobic endurance.
At the completion of a session, the watch can display statistics such as distant, duration, average pace, calories, heart rate range, exercise result score, new records, VO2 max and recovery time.
Running training
For users looking to improve their fitness performance, Huawei Fit offers comprehensive running training guidance based on stamina and training goals. Leveraging technology from FirstBeat®, a leading provider of physiological analytics for sports and well-being, Huawei Fit can design running plans, give real time guidance during a session, and export reports upon session completion.
Huawei Fit's training supports five km, 10 km, half marathon and marathon modes. Each plan can be designed according to the user's exercise habits, available time and physical fitness.
Smartwatch Functionality
Keep in touch, even during the toughest workout. Simply sync Huawei Fit to a smartphone to receive smart alerts for incoming call and messages. The watch will vibrate when a call is incoming, identify when a call is missed, and even allow you to end a call by swiping up on the watch screen.
Sleep Monitoring
Good sleep is important for optimum health, so Huawei Fit also provides detailed sleep analysis, tracking sleeping and waking times, including evaluation sleep stages, such as light sleep and deep sleep. Huawei Fit leverages the Pittsburgh sleep quality index and polysomnography to provide a detailed sleep analysis report.
Battery Life
Huawei Fit can keep up with a user's workout schedules, with a powerful battery that lasts for six days with normal use and up to 30 days in standby mode. Charging time for a full battery is less than two hours.
Availability
Huawei Fit will be available starting November 3 at participating retailers including Best Buy, Amazon and Newegg. The Black version will be available exclusively at Best Buy stores for the first 60 days, while the other colors - Orange and Blue--will be broadly available online.

With its elegant design, dual dial display, and smartphone link capability, the EQB700 makes it easy to navigate seasonal and time zone changes whether at home or traveling.
"This fall, as consumers are celebrating holidays and preparing for the upcoming shopping season, we recognize that there is an opportunity to provide a timepiece that will keep them on schedule now and throughout the year," said David Johnson, Vice President of Casio's Timepiece Division. "Our new EDIFICE EQB700 is the ideal choice for any busy gentleman looking to stay on track with his appointments, especially with the approaching Daylight Saving Time change. It also eliminates any confusion about time changes when traveling since it will automatically update based on the wearer's location."
Smartphone Link Connectivity
Featuring Casio's Smartphone Link capability, the EQB700 pairs with the wearer's smartphone with the simple press of the dedicated Bluetooth(®) connection button. By downloading the CASIO WATCH+ app and connecting to a compatible smartphone via Bluetooth(®) SMART, the EQB700 and other Bluetooth(®) enabled EDIFICE Timepieces can access the correct time for the current location and for over 300 cities worldwide. BENTON HARBOR, Mich., Nov. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Jenn-Air connected wall oven, already an advanced high-end appliance, now offers even more functionality thanks to Jenn-Air's new integration with the Nest Learning Thermostat.
If the Jenn-Air connected wall oven is left on when Nest senses that everyone is away, Nest can send a signal to Jenn-Air. Users are then alerted through the Jenn-Air wall oven app, enabling them to turn the oven off remotely.* A second function allows the app user to create rules for automatically modifying the Nest Thermostat's settings when the oven reaches a certain temperature, ensuring the kitchen is not too hot when cooking and entertaining.
The wall oven app, available for iOS and Android devices**, also allows users to check the status of oven cycles, receive notifications when preheat and cooking cycles are complete, and control oven settings remotely. Current owners of the Jenn-Air connected wall oven will receive a notification to update the app to the newest version, which includes the added Nest functionality.
"By working with Nest, we can add peace of mind and comfort to a long list of the connected wall oven's capabilities and performance features," said Brian Maynard, director of marketing for Jenn-Air. "The combination of a dedicated, fully featured app and Nest intelligence takes our powerful connected wall oven to a whole new level of innovation."
Another wall oven feature accessible via the app is the Jenn-Air® Culinary Center, an interactive, image-driven technology that uses the oven's advanced cooking system, a series of precise algorithms, and chef-tested cooking programs to give cooks the ultimate control in achieving desired results. The Culinary Center provides guidance for more than 30 food options and considers such factors as food category, food type, desired doneness and type of cookware or bakeware used.
Color images illustrating doneness levels are combined with exclusive visuals showing how and where to insert the temperature probe for a variety of dishes. The app also taps the Jenn-Air brand's "My Creations" function, which allows users to seamlessly combine up to three cooking modes and save the settings for favorite recipes.
"Utilizing the My Creations function allows cooks to get consistent results on finished dishes time after time," notes Maynard. "It also allows anyone in the household to get dinner started and not worry about setting cooking times and methods."
In addition to generous oven capacity, Jenn-Air connected wall ovens feature a vertical dual-fan convection system, a 7-inch full color touch-anywhere LCD display and soft auto-close doors. Available in single, double and microwave/wall oven combination configurations, all with flush-to-cabinet design, the wall ovens are priced at $3,599 to $5,199.

The new MCUs extend the portfolio from 2KB to 256KB of integrated ferroelectric random access memory (FRAM) technology, which is a non-volatile memory technology that offers unmatched flexibility and ultra-low power performance. Additionally, the MSP430 FRAM ecosystem includes thousands of existing software libraries, application notes and driver framework to simplify development across the portfolio.
Easily process complex algorithms with MSP430FR5994 MCUs
The new MSP430FR5994 MCUs help you save power by spending more time in standby thanks to the newly integrated low-energy accelerator (LEA) for signal processing which completes fast Fourier transforms (FFTs), finite impulse response (FIR) and infinite impulse response (IIR) filters and other math functions nearly 40 times faster than an ARM® Cortex®-M0+ microcontroller. 256KB of unified memory (FRAM) allows for expanded application code, and addresses applications with large RAM requirements, all while offering write speeds 100 times faster than Flash with no buffering or pre-erase required.
The LEA module provides an optimized DSP library with support for more than 50 math functions and a plug-and-play design that allows developers to unbox our MSP430FR5994 MCU LaunchPad(TM) development kit and start processing complex math algorithms in less than five minutes. MSP430 MCU developers now have a path to greater signal processing performance paired with the benefits of FRAM technology for a wide range of applications such as metering, building and factory automation equipment and portable health and fitness devices. For more information, visit http://www.ti.com/msp430fr5994-pr.
Refresh your old 8-bit design with new MSP430FR2111 MCUs
The MSP430FR2111 MCUs allow developers to upgrade legacy 8-bit or 16-bit designs with a cutting-edge, highly integrated MCU with FRAM memory technology. Even the most cost conscious developer now has a solution that integrates a 10-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC), EEPROM functionality, comparator, real-time clock, enhanced timers, internal oscillator with a 16-bit MCU in a tiny 3x3 mm package and a starting 1ku price of less than $0.50. With up to 50 times the RAM of comparable 8-bit MCUs thanks to unified memory, developers will no longer need to program in assembly, which will get them to market faster, simplify software maintenance and increase code portability. Additionally, the new MCUs offer seamless migration and scalability within the MSP430 MCU portfolio. Customers can move from MSP430G2x MCUs to the new MSP430FR2x MCU family with ease and then scale within the FRAM portfolio thanks to a common core architecture, tool ecosystem and easy-to-use migration guides. For more information, visit http://www.ti.com/msp430FR2111-pr.
