CHANDLER, Ariz., Nov. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A next-generation hub integrated circuit (IC) for USB Type-C(TM) applications supporting seven ports is now available from Microchip Technology Inc.(NASDAQ: MCHP), a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions. The USB58xx and USB59xx next-generation families of SmartHubs are the first seven-port USB 3.1 Gen1 hub ICs available in the market today and offer customers simpler designs and cost savings over previous solutions. These families of hub ICs offer manufacturers multiple direct interfaces to USB Type-C connectors for enabling 5 Gbps USB data rates in a single integrated circuit.
The USB58xx and USB59xx families are ideal for applications such as monitors, docking stations, digital televisions, set-top boxes and computing peripherals. These applications benefit from the expanded number of external USB 3.1 Gen1 ports available for data connections within a single, monolithic device. Having a hub IC that supports seven ports avoids the power and cost problem of tiering two four-port devices to provide sufficient downstream ports for end customer applications. Each device also has built-in Billboard support for notifying users when an unsupported device has been connected in a USB Power Delivery application. In addition, the USB58xx and USB59xx families are supported by Microchip's USBCheck, a free engineering service for reviewing schematics and layout designs.

Internet and mobile devices have become core elements of our life. The digital

e.g. the payments industry has experienced a high level of disruption with the surge of
new digital applications that facilitate easier payments, alternative processing networks
and the increased use of electronic devices to transfer money between accounts. Fintechs

convenience are therefore vital in order to fulfill the customers' expectations in digital

On the German market it takes nearly one week including mail delivery time to validate
the indications of an applicant for a loan decision. To assess a consumer's credit
solvency means that you have to evaluate the financial situation on basis of a valid and
extensive budget accounting. By digitizing the complete loan application process consumers
can now profit from a radical time reduction. The digital account check makes the loan
application process much easier - both online and in the branch. The solution allows the
applicant to submit the relevant documentation for the transaction digitally and in real
time and thus enables a deep-dive analysis of his account - by giving his consent and
entering the login data by himself for a one-time access to his account.
The digital account check is aggregating the account transactions, is realizing an
online housekeeping billing and is calculating the available liquidity. Furthermore,
external data such as credit information can be integrated, too. The data is checked and
thoroughly analyzed in real time. A recommendation is then provided based on this analysis,
allowing the bank to make a quick and safe decision on whether to accept the application.
The customer receives the loan automatically onto the account within 24 hours depending on
the individual settings of the bank.
This can now be done without any change in media - unlike the old process, which
frequently involved printing out statements, sending them by post and digitizing them in
the bank where complex checks were performed. This often led to the procedure being
cancelled partway through.

SMIC Shenzhen Launches Construction of the First 12-Inch IC Production Line in South China

SMIC Shenzhen Launches Construction of the First 12-Inch IC Production Line in South China
SHENZHEN, China, Nov. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation ("SMIC"; NYSE: SMI; SEHK: 981), one of the leading semiconductor foundries in the world, and the largest and most advanced foundry in Mainland China, announces the official launch of a 12-inch integrated circuit (IC) production line at SMIC's Shenzhen facility. It will be the very first 12-inch fab in South China.
In order to meet the large demand for IC chips in the IoT era, SMIC Shenzhen is building the new 12-inch IC production line in an existing building. The new line will manufacture mainstream mature technology. Construction is planned to start by the end of 2016. Some second-hand equipment for the new line has already been secured. The early production is expected to begin by the end of 2017.The total designed capacity is 40,000 12-inch wafers per month; capacity ramp will be based on customer needs.
Located in Pingshan New District, Shenzhen, SMIC Shenzhen opened the first 8-inch IC production line in South China in December 2014. Its capacity is currently 30,000 wafers per month, and it will continue to expand based on market demand.

Skillz Builds Intellectual Property Advantage with Two New Patents
Leading Mobile eSports Company Strengthens Position with New IP

Tektronix Unveils Industry First Test Solution for ONFI Flash Memory Standard
Incorporates Compliance Test Software for the ONFI 4.0 Standard and Effective Probing Using Nexus Interposers
BEAVERTON, Ore., Nov. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Tektronix, Inc., a leading worldwide provider of measurement solutions, today announced the industry's first test solution for the Open NAND Flash Interface (ONFI) standard. Available for Tektronix high-performance oscilloscopes, the ONFI 4.0 test solution includes software for analyzing DDR2/3 modes on the ONFI bus coupled with an effective probing solution based on interposers.
The ONFI standard is published by the ONFI Working Group to simplify the integration of NAND Flash memory into consumer electronics and computing platforms. The ONFI 4.0 spec introduces the evolutionary NV-DDR3 interface with VccQ = 1.2V operation for increased performance and improved power consumption, scales NV-DDR2 and NV-DDR3 I/O speed to 667 MT/s and 800 MT/s, and adds ZQ calibration functionality.
As the speeds have increased and voltage levels have dropped, designers working with the ONFI bus face challenges to ensure compliance, debug timing problems and gain access to signals. TEK-PGY-ONFI software enables design and test engineers to test the ONFI interface for compliance to ONFI bus timing parameters and provides automated measurements of Command, Address, Data in and Data out transactions. A detail view feature in the TEK-PGY-ONFI software correlates each electrical measurement of an ONFI waveform by annotating it with the analog waveform to help debug timing problems.
Dense packaging and high data rates make gaining high-fidelity signal access to NAND flash devices challenging. Tektronix offers support for a range of different mechanical form factors including socketed, direct attach and a patented edge probe design for extremely tight mechanical requirements. S-parameter models of interposers and probes are available for modelling or to generate de-embedding filters to be applied to the oscilloscope.
TEK-PGY-ONFI software runs on the Tektronix MSO/DPO70000 Series oscilloscopes with bandwidth of 4GHz -33GHz and recommends the P7500 or P7300 Series probes for testing. For some customers testing for ONFI, signal access may be poor or not available at all, therefore, Tektronix recommends ONFI 152 ball NAND Flash Edge high fidelity interposers from Nexus to achieve signal access while maintaining signal integrity.
