Convoy Technologies Helps Fleets Radically Reduce Liability and Improve Driver Safety with On-Demand Video and Live Video Streaming
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Sept. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Convoy Technologies, the leading provider of cloud-based, live-time mobile video software and hardware, announced today the release of its powerful, highly-intuitive Videomatics(TM) dashboard. Complete with industry-first live video streaming, video playback, and video search capabilities, this Video Platform as a Service (VPaaS) solution gives fleet owners and managers a simple, seamless way to immediately respond to critical events, reduce liability, drive-down insurance costs, and coach drivers anytime, anywhere.
Improving safety and reducing liability are critical as jury awards continue to climb. According to a March 2013 report released by the Pacific Institute for Research and Evaluation, U.S. juries awarded an average $3.6M for crashes involving large trucks.
"Now, fleets can take immediate action to protect their businesses," said Convoy Co-Founder and CEO, Blake Gasca. "Our highly-efficient video compression engine delivers live video to fleet owners and managers, no matter where they are; a capability that's unmatched in the industry. And, our new video search feature is an industry first."
"With Convoy, we have insight into driver behavior and it's significantly improving every day," said Douglas Howell, Vice President of Service and Maintenance at TruStar Energy. "And, if we're in an accident, we can identify the right corrective action."
This is Convoy's biggest release to-date. It puts rich, indisputable data right into the hands of decision-makers, while simultaneously offering fleets a customizable price point. And, the Videomatics web portal, launched just six months ago, now offers feature parity with the iOS app. In the end, this means administrators can move quickly to protect their businesses--no matter how they choose to access their data--with a range of easy-to-use features:
Playback Video
After a critical event, such as an accident, time is of the essence. With Videomatics, administrators can now instantly access video and event locations through the web portal, just as they can with their iOS app--allowing them to immediately begin an investigation for any vehicle.
Video clip request
Administrators can now perform video search requests through the portal. Files are then automatically delivered as custom video clips to the web portal and the administrator is notified via email alert, simplifying administrative tasks and saving time.
Vehicle locations with Convoy Search
Pinpointing vehicle locations is effortless with Convoy Search. Easily identify all vehicles in a defined location during any four-hour window, based upon location, date, and time search criteria. Simplifying things further, Videomatics automatically delivers the requested details to the administrator via email and stores them in the cloud.
New, data-rich fleet dashboard
This new, intuitive dashboard gives administrators immediate access to alert data and fleet trends, intelligently fed by the Convoy Technologies video review team and machine learning.
Dashboard features include:
-- Historical fleet performance metrics--from last week to the last year
-- Alert search by vehicle, date, and time, and alert action summaries
-- Driver check-in capabilities
-- Data analysis and reporting to support CEO, fleet manager, and IT
department decision-making
New to the web portal and iOS app, alerts further simplify fleet management, allowing administrators to direct their attention to the most critical events, first:
-- Yellow - Identifies smaller infractions
-- Orange - Triggers coachable driver safety and productivity events
-- Red - Triggers immediate action on critical events
Each alert clearly identifies the alert-type, video, timestamp, date, address, and vehicle speed for the event in question.
GPS notification center
Now available via the Videomatics app and web portal, administrators can receive real-time notifications each time a driver action triggers an alert. These notifications identify vehicle locations at the time of the alert, as well as throughout the day, including starts, stops, and a breadcrumb trail.
And, for large fleets, administrators now have the additional ability to import a vehicle information excel sheet (CSV) to bulk populate truck numbers, driver names, and other relevant information.

Mentor Graphics Extends Offering to Support TSMC 7nm and 16FFC FinFET Process Technologies
Highlights: Mentor Graphics announces certification of the AFS Platform, AFS Mega and multiple Calibre® products, for TSMC 16FFC FinFET V1.0 and the latest DRM and SPICE version of 7nm FinFET process technologies and reference flows. In addition, Calibre products have been optimized and extended to support new design complexity at established processes.
WILSONVILLE, Ore., Sept. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Mentor Graphics Corp. (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced further enhancements and optimizations for various products within the Calibre® Platform, and Analog FastSPICE (AFS(TM)) Platform, as well as the completion of further certifications and reference flows for Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (TSMC) 16FFC FinFET and 7nm FinFET processes. Moreover, the Calibre offering has been extended on additional established TSMC processes in support of the growing Internet of Things (IoT) design market requirements.
The AFS Platform, including AFS Mega simulation, has been certified for the TSMC 16FFC FinFET and the TSMC 7nm FinFET process technologies through TSMC's SPICE Simulation Tool Certification Program. The AFS Platform supports TSMC design platforms for mobile, HPC, automotive, and IoT/wearables. Analog, mixed-signal, and RF design teams at leading semiconductor companies worldwide will benefit from using Analog FastSPICE to efficiently verify their chips designed in 16FFC and 7nm FinFET technologies.
Mentor's Calibre xACT(TM) extraction offering is now certified for the TSMC 16FFC FinFET and the TSMC 7nm FinFET process technologies. Calibre xACT extraction leverages its built-in deterministic fast field-solver engine to deliver needed accuracy around three-dimensional FinFET devices and local interconnect. Its scalable multiprocessing delivers sufficient punch for large leading-edge digital designs. In addition, both companies continue extraction collaboration in established process nodes, with additional corner variation test cases and tighter criteria to ensure tool readiness for IoT applications.
The Calibre PERC(TM) reliability platform has also been enhanced to enable TSMC 7nm customers to run point-to-point resistance checks at full chip. This greater capacity allows customers to quickly analyze interconnect robustness at all levels (IP, block, and full chip) while verifying lower resistance paths on critical electrostatic discharge (ESD) circuitry, helping ensure long-term chip reliability. Likewise, Calibre Multi-Patterning functionality has been enhanced for 7nm, including new analysis, graph reduction and visualization capabilities which are essential to customers designing and debugging this completely new multi-patterning technique.
The Calibre YieldEnhancer ECOFill solution, initially developed for 20nm, has now been extended to all TSMC process nodes from 7nm to 65nm. Designers at all process nodes will now be able to minimize fill runtimes, manage fill hierarchy, and minimize shape removal when implementing changes to the initial design.
Mentor's Nitro-SoC P&R platform has also been enhanced to support advanced 7nm requirements, such as floorplan boundary cell insertion, stacking via routing, M1 routing and cut-metal methodology, tap cell insertion and swapping, and ECO flow methodology. Certification of the flow integration of these N7 features are on-going. For 16FFC, the needed tool features have been validated by TSMC, and Mentor is optimizing its correlation with sign-off analysis.
"Today's chip design teams are looking at different process nodes to implement their complete solution," said Joe Sawicki, vice president and general manager of Mentor Graphics Design-to-Silicon Division. "By working with TSMC, Mentor is able to provide mutual customers with a single solution that is not only certified, but also includes the latest tool capabilities, for whichever TSMC process node they choose."
"TSMC's long-standing collaboration with Mentor Graphics enables both companies to work together effectively to identify new challenges and develop innovative solutions across all process nodes," said Suk Lee, TSMC senior director, Design Infrastructure Marketing Division. "The Mentor Analog FastSPICE Platform, AFS Mega, and Calibre xACT tools have successfully met the accuracy and compatibility requirements for 16FFC and 7nm FinFET technologies. That certification, along with the Calibre Platform's provision of fast, accurate physical verification, and extraction solutions critical to 7nm, ensures mutual customers they have access to EDA tools that are optimized for the newest process technologies."

SOL REPUBLIC Introduces Relays Sport Wireless Headphones
Crowdsourced and engineered to address consumers' biggest complaints about sports headphones
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- After more than two years of research, development and feedback from their initial launch on Indiegogo, SOL REPUBLIC releases Relays Sport Wireless, a premium, wireless sports headphone, targeting active consumers.
Consumers often complain that wireless sports headphones have short battery life, complicated secure fit systems, ear hooks that hurt over time, and lack luster sound. Committed to changing the world one listener at a time, SOL REPUBLIC set out to solve each of these issues with Relays Sport Wireless. The gear is designed to be comfortable to wear for hours while having a secure fit, up to eight hours of play time, full range high fidelity sound, quick charge technology, microphone, music controls, sweat and water resistance, and a special outdoor sound mode.
"Exercise and sports require much more from a headphone than listening at work does. We found every headphone out there had one or more shortfalls and customer complaints along with it," said Kevin Lee, co-founder SOL REPUBLIC. "We believe music is emotion and that if it sounds better, it feels better. That's incredibly important for workouts. A great sounding pair of headphones can deliver the emotional energy from your music to help you work out harder or let the time pass faster."
Physically active consumers often cite pain or discomfort in extended use of their headphones during workouts. The most important feature of Relays Sport Wireless is its award-winning FreeFlex(TM) secure fit, ultralight ear bud design that adapts to any ear size without the need for complicated parts or hooks which wrap around your sensitive ear. The Relays Sport Wireless result is an ear bud that stays in, won't fall out and remains comfortable enough to use all day even when you're not working out.
While it may seem logical to simply add the battery and wireless electronics to the earbud itself like other makers, SOL REPUBLIC found that it made earbuds bulky, heavy, and not ideal for exercise where comfort and a secure fit is the priority. Instead, SOL REPUBLIC engineers strategically placed all the electronic components in ergonomic, water resistant pods that fit naturally on the neck.
"We moved the electronics out of your sweaty ear for better reliability, resulting in more room for a larger battery and better electronics that improved sound and bluetooth connectivity. We even included a quick charge circuit so if you forgot to charge your headphone, you can recharge it on your way to the gym for ten minutes and get up to an hour of playtime," continued Kevin Lee.
Relays Sport Wireless features SOL REPUBLIC's signature deep bass and crisp sound that brings out all the emotion in your music. For outdoor exercise where the bass from your music is harder to hear over outdoor noise or the pounding sound of impact sports like running, Relays Sport Wireless features an outdoor sound mode that increases the right amount of bass so everything sounds just right again.
Relays Sport Wireless are $79 and come in Black, Mint, and Yellow and are now available at Best Buy, InMotion, Amazon, and solrepublic.com.

Pervasive Displays Collaborates With Energia IDE to Add Ultra-Low Power E-Paper Driver Support to TI LaunchPad(TM) Development Kits
TAINAN CITY, Taiwan, September 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Pervasive Displays (PDi), a world leader in e-paper displays today announced the
results of its collaboration with community-driven and open source electronics prototyping
platform provider Energia [http://energia.nu ]. The Energia integrated development
environment (IDE) provides similar support for the Texas Instruments (TI) family of
LaunchPad [http://www.ti.com/ww/en/launchpad/launchpad.html ](TM) development platforms as
the Arduino and Wiring IDE.
Designed to bring the same Arduino-style application development simplicity to the
LaunchPad ecosystem, the Energia IDE provides support across the range of MSP430(TM)
microcontroller(MCU)-, MSP432(TM) MCU, SimpleLink(TM) Wi-Fi(R) CC3200 wireless MCU- and
TM4C microcontroller boards.
Within Energia IDE's Library Manager all the necessary driver libraries for the range
of Pervasive Displays 1.44 to 4.2 inch e-paper displays are built in. In addition, support
for future three-color displays is accommodated. Full support is also provisioned for the
recently announced EPD Extension Kit Gen (EXT2)
[http://www.pervasivedisplays.com/kits/ext2_kit ] extension board that is constructed in a
TI LaunchPad kit and BoosterPack(TM) plug-in module-compliant format.
By incorporating native IDE driver support, both Pervasive Displays and Energia are
easing the development of designs that use e-paper displays. E-paper displays are ideal
where power budget restrictions mean that driving an LCD display is not possible. E-paper
only requires energy to change the information displayed. Once changed, the power source
can be removed and the information last displayed remains. This approach yields
exceptionally long battery life; a single coin cell will power some applications for many
years.
Adrian Fernandez, microcontroller customer experience manager at TI commented,
"Integrating ease of access to e-paper displays by providing full library support through
our LaunchPad kit ecosystem and the Energia IDE gives developers every opportunity to
trial their capabilities and incorporate them into their next design. Energia support for
the e-paper BoosterPack module will enable the maker community in their various
endeavours."
Robert Wessels, Founder of Energia, said "The LaunchPad kit is an ideal development
environment ecosystem from which to prototype a wide range of applications and these
advancements will enable rapid future prototyping. The addition of native Energia IDE
support for Pervasive Displays' range of e-paper displays further broadens the possible
range of applications and expands into a number of sectors where extremely low power
consumption and/or energy harvesting techniques are essential. The fact that the display
continues to show an image after the power has been disconnected facilitates display-based
developments not previously possible and we are getting very positive reviews
[http://embeddedcomputing.weebly.com/pervasive-display-e-paper-epd-extension-kit-gen-2.html ]
on the second generation of the Pervasive Displays e-paper extension kit with support
for new screens and new LaunchPad kits."

low speed unidirectional version (VLC, Visible Light Communication) which enables the
deployment of indoor geolocation applications, in particular in shop and museum sectors.
By positioning itself as an alternative to Wifi, this smart and connected light is
taking on a new dimension thanks to Lucibel.Â
According to the American research institute Gartner, The Internet of Things ((" IOT ")
will come to more than 50 billion by 2020 to 2022 compared to 5 billion today, which will
lead to an exponential growth in the volume of data exchanged. The LiFi technology
positions itself as one of the broadband connection technology that will enable the
development of IOT.
The LiFi lumianire and USB key, resulting from the partnership between Lucibel and
PureLifi, are exclusively manufactured by Lucibel in France at its industrial site in
Barentin (Normandy), whether marketed by Lucibel or PureLiFi.Â
Edouard Lebrun, Chief Innovation Officer at Lucibel says: "Â The production of this
LiFi solution in France forms part of Lucibel new industrial strategy implemented for over
2 years. Indeed, thanks to the relocation of its manufacturing facility in France, Lucibel
has been able to co-develop, industrialize and market its LiFi solution in less than 15
months, which gives it the only solution of the market easily integrable in a building.
As a first step, the Lucibel LiFi solution aimed essentially at professionals to offer
them Internet access mobility where wifi is not available or badly deployed.
Thanks to its decisive advantages (impossibility to remotely hack a LiFi network,
absence of radio waves potentially harmful to human health...) priority deployment targets
are places where:
- The data security is a major issue (banks, defense, R&D centers, executive offices,
private security...).
- Electromagnetic waves (wifi) are not permitted (hospitals, nursery, schools,
industry...)
- The density of users is very high (co-working space, airport, hotel, meeting room,
convention space...)
" LiFi by LUCIBEL ": a structured sales strategy currently being deployedÂ
For more than two years, Lucibel has been structured its marketing strategy through:
- The recruitment of a dedicated team specialized in networks and IT,
- The implementation of strategic partnerships with major players in the real estate or
IT sectors
- The qualification of its LiFi solution by large general or specialized IT integrators.
The results are promising with big names already seduced by this innovative solution:
- Nexity, first integrated player on the real estate market in France (housing,
offices, managed residences, hotels, shops...), is the first end user of the
industrialized LiFi luminaire. A collaboration and an operational partnership that
Loïc Daniel, Deputy CEO of Nexity Business Property, welcomes: " The innovation
strategy of Nexity is illustrated by a will to meet the needs of occupants for
connected living and work spaces, flexible and oriented to their well-being. We
congratulate ourselves on this approach of co-innovation with a company as Lucibel,
who will be a supplier of new solutions for the real estate of tomorrow. "
- Microsoft is also implementing the LiFi solution at its innovation center in
Issy-les-Moulineaux in order to share with its clients the opportunities offered by
the technology.
- SLMS (Schneider Lucibel Managed Services, Joint-Venture between Schneider Electric
and Lucibel) also markets the solution through its "LiFi as a Service by SLMS" offer.
Other partnerships are currently under negotiation and should be announced before end
of 2016.
In practice, a RJ45 wire is connected to the lighting fixture which then becomes a
head end, and a LiFi key is connected to the computer USB port.
Technical performances: Â
The "LiFi by Lucibel" solution enables the deployment of a complete wireless network
through a bidirectional transmission of 42 Mbps. The "LiFi by Lucibel" system offers a
mobile connection within a network while simultaneously supporting multiple access and
"handover".
Each LiFi lumianire can serve several LiFi stations simultaneously. The "handover"
function allows users to automatically have a stable connection from a lighting fixture to
another.
In addition to traditional power supply, the "LiFi by Lucibel" luminaire is optionally
compatible POE / POE+ and High Power POE in order to minimize the necessary wiring for the
deployment of a LiFi network infrastructure.Â

New products and solutions, including the MakerBot Replicator+ and Replicator Mini+, MakerBot Print and Mobile applications, Gray Tough PLA Filament Bundle, and Thingiverse Education for educators, allow professionals to easily integrate MakerBot into their workflow and help educators introduce their students to 3D printing. To see MakerBot's new solutions for professionals and educators in action, please visit makerbot.com.
"We have gone through a cultural shift here at MakerBot over the past year, where listening and understanding the needs of our customers are cornerstones of our company. As a result, we've gained an in-depth understanding of the wider needs of professionals and educators that has informed our product development process," said Jonathan Jaglom, CEO of MakerBot. "Our new solutions for professionals and educators are based on feedback addressing how we could accelerate and streamline the iterative design process and make teaching with a desktop 3D printer easier and more effective."
MakerBot Replicator+ and Replicator Mini+ Bring Larger Build Volumes with Faster Print Speed to Users
The new MakerBot Replicator+ and Replicator Mini+ have been re-engineered and tested to provide better performance -- that means faster, easier, and more reliable 3D printing experience for users. Both printers feature an improved gantry and Z-stage through stiffer materials and sturdier construction for consistent and predictable printing. Working closely with Stratasys, MakerBot's new 3D printers went through extensive testing of 380,000+ hours([1])across multiple facilities to ensure reliable, high quality performance.
The new MakerBot Replicator+ and Replicator Mini+ Desktop 3D Printers feature:
-- Larger build volumes
-- Higher print speed([2])
-- Swappable MakerBot Smart Extruder+
The industrial design team at Canary, a leader in security technology, has been using MakerBot 3D Printers and recently testing MakerBot's new solutions for professionals. "Using a MakerBot Desktop 3D Printer helped us accelerate the development of the new Canary Flex by allowing us to quickly go through multiple iterations," said James Krause, Director of Industrial Design at Canary. "We were enthusiastic to test the new MakerBot Replicator+ and right away we noticed the faster workflow, as well as huge improvements to print quality and speed."
MakerBot Print and MakerBot Mobile Enhance Printing Preparation Process
The updated version of MakerBot Mobile includes a Guided Setup feature that walks the user through the entire 3D printer setup process step by step.
The new MakerBot Print software helps streamline the 3D printing preparation process for users through multiple new features.
1. Native CAD Support(([3])) allows users to easily import common CAD
files(([4])) and assemblies
2. Dynamic Print Settings(([5])) enable users to auto arrange multiple trays
and change print settings (resolution or layer thickness) for each
individual model on the build plate, saving time by printing models with
varying print settings simultaneously.
3. Print Preview option allows users to review the Smart Extruder+'s path
and make adjustments before printing a model.
MakerBot Print and an updated version of MakerBot Mobile are available now.
Slate Gray Tough PLA Filament Helps Professional Users Create Durable, High-impact Strength Prototypes and Fixtures
MakerBot Tough PLA combines the toughness of ABS and the flexural strength of PLA, making the material especially suitable for functional prototypes and prototyping jigs and fixtures with threaded and snap fits. MakerBot Tough PLA has been tested and optimized to print reliably and easily with the Tough PLA Smart Extruder+. The new bundle consists of three spools of MakerBot Tough PLA Filament in slate gray and the MakerBot Tough PLA Smart Extruder+.
"The new MakerBot Tough PLA is a workhorse for functional printing. We mainly use it for prototyping parts and jigs for product cycle testing," said Mack Mor, Senior Product Engineer at OXO, who's been testing MakerBot Tough PLA over the past months." The flexibility is key for parts that don't break, even with thin features that would normally be troublesome. The interlayer adhesion is strong, but the raft is still super easy to remove. The material also slides well so it is good for snap fits."
The Slate Gray Tough PLA Filament Bundle is available now.
Thingiverse Education is a new platform that allows educators to learn 3D printing best practices and exchange knowledge from over 100 lesson plans created by other educators and vetted by MakerBot's education and curriculum experts. Educators can filter lesson plans by subject, grade, or standard, and, in the spirit of Thingiverse, remix them to match specific learning goals.

The Polaroid Snap Touch follows in the footsteps of the highly successful first generation Polaroid Snap. The new model is now available for pre-order with several new features that makes sharing even easier and more fun than before.
"As the original pioneers of instant photography, we at Polaroid have been dedicated to bringing products to market which fit our brand DNA of instant gratification, sharing, and fun throughout our history," said Scott W. Hardy, President and CEO of Polaroid. "Today, we're focused on designing products which meet the needs of modern consumers, but still trigger the emotional response of our legacy Polaroid cameras. There's no better example of this than the Polaroid Snap. The instant digital camera boasts a fun and exciting design that's unlike anything else on the market, and we're incredibly excited to debut its successor, the Polaroid Snap Touch, at Photokina 2016."
Snap, Print and Share
Taking the Polaroid Snap to the next level, the new Polaroid Snap Touch incorporates a wide range of updated features for an enhanced instant experience. Updates include the addition of a 3.5" LCD touchscreen for framing shots and navigating the camera's menu, a new and improved 13 megapixel CMOS sensor for higher-quality images as well as 1080p full HD video recording capability. All images and video are stored on a micro SD card (up to 128GB) to allow for sharing later.
Integrated within the Polaroid Snap Touch is a printer which uses ZINK® Zero Ink Printing Technology. This gives consumers the ability to capture and instantly print full-color, 2x3" photographs, all at a significantly lower cost than traditional instant film prints. Of course the new Polaroid Snap Touch is ideal for today's selfie shooters thanks to a self-timer and the addition of a fun selfie mirror that ensures the user is framed perfectly in the shot. Additionally, the instant digital camera offers three color modes--black and white, color, and vintage sepia--with the option to print with or without the iconic Polaroid Classic Border Logo.
Bluetooth Enabled for Even More Versatility
Thanks to Bluetooth connectivity and integration with the Polaroid Print App, users are no longer limited to just printing photos captured by the camera itself. Using Bluetooth and the app, users can now pair the Polaroid Snap Touch with other devices such as smartphones and tablets to transform the device into an instant photoprinter. The app, available free for iOS and Android, will also give users the ability to edit and enhance images saved on other mobile devices using a number of creative filters, digital stickers, effects and controls, and then print via the Polaroid Snap Touch. Exploring the Polaroid Print App allows users to unlock trophies and other fun hidden features. No matter what device their images are taken with, they'll be able to share the fun with their own creative flair.
The Polaroid Snap Touch was designed in partnership with renowned design firm, Ammunition, the studio that was also behind the Polaroid Zip instant photoprinter and Polaroid Cube and Polaroid Cube+ lifestyle action cameras. With the Polaroid Snap family of instant digital cameras, Ammunition created a sense of continuity between classic Polaroid cameras and current Polaroid products. Led by industrial designer Robert Brunner, Ammunition is the design studio behind award-winning consumer brands including Adobe, Beats by Dre, Square, Lyft, and Williams-Sonoma.
ZINK Zero Ink® Printing
Also debuting at Photokina is the Polaroid rainbow border 2x3" premium ZINK Paper®. The camera's ZINK-enabled printer uses heat to activate and colorize cyan, yellow and magenta dye crystals embedded in the paper. The result is full-color, high quality, long-lasting and smudge-proof images without ink cartridges, ribbons or toner. The latest version of ZINK Paper features five fun, brightly colored borders reminiscent of the familiar white Polaroid Classic Border Logo the brand is famous for. The colored border will automatically appear around the image after a photo is printed. In addition to the new Polaroid Snap Touch, the Polaroid rainbow border 2x3" premium ZINK Paper is compatible with the first generation Polaroid Snap and Polaroid Zip instant photoprinter.
ZINK 2x3" photos print in just under a minute so consumers can instantly share the photo with their friends and family. Additionally, ZINK Paper is adhesive backed so the photo can be used as a sticker as well.
Offered by C+A Global, an authorized Polaroid licensee, the Polaroid Snap Touch instant digital camera is now available for pre-order at http://www.polaroidsnapcamera.com for $179.99. The Polaroid rainbow border 2x3" premium ZINK paper is currently available for purchase at http://www.polaroidsnapcamera.com with an MSRP of $12.99 for a 20-pack. Gaming Surveillance: Innovation that Drives Efficiency
SHEFFIELD, England, Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- An intelligently integrated surveillance management solution has the power to optimize casino operations by improving situational awareness - delivering time, resource and cost savings that go beyond the traditional responsibilities and expectations of site security. It also has the power to simplify operator experience and support critical decision making.
It is a message global surveillance business, Synectics, will be emphasizing at this year's Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas, with live demonstrations of its latest innovations in Synergy controllers, workflow management and third party systems integration.
Synergy 3's command and control platform is the centerpiece of Synectics' Integrated Management System solution to be showcased at this year's exposition, and visitors to booth 3235 will have an exclusive preview of the EX300 Advanced Control Suite - Synergy 3's new management interface - in action.
Comprising a touch screen tablet with optionally integrated jog shuttle, keyboard and joystick, the EX300 utilizes customizable, modular software to improve incident management and operational efficiency, by empowering users to quickly and easily identify, prioritize and execute the functions they use most within Synergy 3.
John Katnic, Vice President of Global Gaming at Synectics, said: "A key benefit of Synergy 3 has always been enabling users to perform highly complex, repetitive queries, analysis and alarm management tasks with an intuitive and easy-to-use interface. With the EX300, Synectics now offers a contemporary hardware/software solution for today's surveillance operators that are more comfortable and productive using gesture based, touchscreen navigation like they have on their phones and tablets.
"While a surveillance operator will typically require and prefer the optional modular joystick and keypad, security users or F&B auditors could use a finger and tablet touchscreen only to control cameras with a much smaller footprint. With the customizable software-based EX300 controller, it is also easier for users to individualize their user interface to process alarms, do camera tours, or any other commonly used function."
Earlier this year, Synectics also announced a Synergy 3 update with enhanced incident management, workflow and resiliency features, as well as new metadata recording, statistical reporting and data mining tools, including quick viewing POS data - a key feature for the gaming sector. These new features will be demonstrated throughout the show using real life scenarios that surveillance operators encounter during a typical shift.
Synectics will be also be exhibiting its latest range of HD IP cameras, network based encoders and alarm management devices at the conference. True to its name and 30-year commitment to open platform technology, however, the global surveillance business will also highlight its ever-expanding integration library of third-party cameras, encoders, DVRs, alarm and gaming systems.
John continued: "Synergy 3's open software architecture gives casino operators the flexibility to integrate with pre-existing or future technologies that protect their investment and makes their lives simpler. In many cases, this includes the ability to utilize legacy third party encoders, cameras, matrices and storage systems from industry-leading suppliers such as Honeywell, Pelco, Dallmeier and Bosch, while still taking advantage of Synergy 3's advanced alarm integration, GUI customization, and incident management functionality. We are constantly evolving our solutions to work with leading gaming and security technology providers to ensure compatibility and seamless integration.
"We've practiced this customer-driven development approach for over 30 years. We take time to understand unique operational and technical needs, so that we can devise creative ways to solve problems, rapidly develop and test improvements, and deploy working solutions quickly. Our willingness to listen, adapt and deliver solutions that address specific customer needs makes all the difference and sets us apart.
"In fact, a number of the integrations and software developments we'll be talking about at the show originated in this way. For example, our ONVIF-certified M100 VGA and HDMI encoder, that records on-screen data from a variety of devices, including operator review stations and slot machine screens, was driven by specific project requests from our largest clients.
"Sometimes the simplest of things have the biggest impact. For example, even though H.264 (MPEG-4) and H.265 are the primary video compression standards now used, we've also adapted our software to support MPEG-2 encoding since many of our customers' legacy devices still utilize this protocol. It's a pragmatic, customer-sensitive approach which ensures our clients can maximize their existing infrastructure while cost effectively transitioning to newer technology."
Synectics' commitment to integration and innovation have helped secure a number of high profile gaming contracts in 2016 - all with Synergy 3 at their core - including a multi-million dollar 6,000-channel project in Manila, a 5,000+ channel premier resort on the Las Vegas Strip and two next generation Asia-Pacific mega cruise ships.
The business' end-to-end integrated security and surveillance solutions now monitor and manage more than 100,000 channels in over 100 of the largest, busiest and most tightly regulated casinos in Asia, North America and Europe.
16Gb BENAND Offers Built-In ECC, High Performance, Write Endurance, Long-Term Process Support
IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc.(TAEC) has expanded its family of 24nm single-level cell (SLC) NAND flash memory solutions. The new 16 gigabit (Gb) BENAND(TM) is housed in an industry-standard 48-pin TSOP package, and offers a combination of high read/write performance, effective write endurance (using 8-bit BCH error correction code), and extended temperature operation. This makes it suitable for a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications.
The new addition rounds out Toshiba's broad SLC product lineup, allowing designers to take advantage of the price/performance of advanced 24nm NAND flash SLC technology at densities from 1Gb to 128Gb. Based on a 4x4Gb die, 16Gb BENAND operates from a power supply of 2.7V to 3.3V with a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Many industrial applications have a long life expectancy. Toshiba designed BENAND with this in mind. With the ability to replace older generations of discrete SLC NAND, BENAND extends the product life of everything from telecom applications and LCD TVs to robots and printers - while also potentially reducing BOM costs.
According to Brian Kumagai, director of business development for TAEC, "SLC NAND is still very much an integral part of the overall NAND market, and leading-edge 24nm devices play a key role in enabling replacement of the older NAND devices that are still being used today."
Toshiba's 24nm BENAND requires no ECC from the host controller. This enables it to be used with host controllers that do not have 8-bit ECC capability. Many legacy designs still use older processors that do not have 8-bit ECC capability, making BENAND a viable option for companies looking to design in a cutting-edge NAND solution with existing hardware. To ensure easy migration, BENAND's features such as page/block size, spare area size, commands, interface and package remain the same as legacy 4xnm SLC NAND.
Toshiba's continuing commitment to supporting 24nm SLC NAND flash provides industrial designers with the confidence of knowing that they have chosen the correct technology for their applications requiring production longevity. This support eliminates concerns about redesigning to a newer generation.

Hitron and Nimble This Offer Advanced Proactive Network Management Solution
CENTENNIAL, Colo., Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --Hitron Americas Technologies Inc., the fastest-growing DOCSIS consumer premises equipment manufacturer in North America, and Nimble This, a leading developer of proactive network management (PNM) solutions for telecommunications providers, are offering an advanced PNM product that will track down network signal problems before they become an issue for consumers.
Currently cable operators spend significant resources locating plant impairments. A major issue is identifying the source of return path noise. Between 85% and 95% of all noise originates from the subscriber home or the drop to the home. A single home can emit a large amount of noise into the return path ruining the quality of experience (QoE) for every subscriber on that same upstream. When this occurs it becomes mission critical for the cable operator to quickly find and fix the source of the upstream ingress restoring high-quality data service to subscribers.
Using embedded spectrum analysis modules (ESAMs) like Hitron's CMS-02, placed in fiber nodes and on other line gear, operators can collect network data that is fed to Nimble This' data aggregation and collection hardware and software in the headend. The Nimble This PNM solutions analyze the pre-equalization data in cable modems to locate outside plant impairments to within 50 feet or less before dispatching a technician.
"This solution helps techs spend less time finding the problem and gives them more time to fix it for a very little investment, cutting the cost of troubleshooting up to 80% by giving techs more explicit directions to the impairment," said Greg Fisher, CTO, Hitron Americas.
Key benefits of the combined PNM solution include:
-- Locating network impairments prior to dispatching a technician
-- Identifying locations of network impairments in minutes rather than
hours
-- Interactive map showing location of modems and level of impairment
-- Lower maintenance costs resulting from automation of network impairment
detection
"I am very excited to integrate the CMS-02 into the Nimble This PNM application as it provides tremendous value to the cable operator to quickly find and fix the impairment and adding further value by reducing their maintenance costs. Also this integration provides insight into upstream and downstream not previously viewable," said Brady Volpe, founder, Nimble This.
Sound(TM) is the evolution of personal audio. Its design is inspired by the human ear, and the device's suite of features transcends headphones as they're currently defined. The technology was born out of the observation that major audio players play it safe with dated designs and avoid significant technological advances. Rather than build another bulky headphone or easily-lost plastic earbud, Human is building a fresh design that comfortably and securely attaches to the ear, combines multiple industry-bending functions, and acts as an extension of the human body.
Human seeks to build technologically advanced, yet radically simple, products that are utility and purpose driven. Nimbix Adds Docker Integration to JARVICE Platform
PushToCompute(TM) simplifies process for developers to deploy serverless computing apps and turn-key workflows
DALLAS, Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Nimbix, a leading HPC cloud platform provider, today announced a new capability, PushToCompute(TM) is a method for rapid cloud deployment and monetization of containerized compute intensive applications. This capability is built into the JARVICE platform which powers the Nimbix Cloud.
Through the added feature on the JARVICE platform, developers are able to import the latest version of their application into an existing workflow in the Nimbix Cloud and make it available for consumption at scale immediately. The application, along with its dependencies, executes in JARVICE's container runtime environment, which provides superior performance and scale. This includes sub-second launch times, faster execution, seamless access to advanced computational accelerators (such as GPUs and FPGAs), automated heterogeneous data management, and rapid workflow deployment across multiple compute nodes either in a parallel or distributed paradigm.
"PushToCompute((TM) ) is the easiest and most advanced DevOps pipeline for high performance applications available today," said Nimbix CTO Leo Reiter. "It seamlessly enables serverless computing of even the most complex workflows, greatly simplifying application deployment at scale, and eliminating the need for any platform orchestration or user interface work. Developers simply focus on their specific functionality, rather than on building cloud capabilities into their applications."
In an effort to promote openness, Nimbix distributes single node "JARVICE emulators" built into free Docker base images developers can use to build and test their applications on local hardware. In addition, when using PushToCompute((TM) ), developers own one hundred percent of their code and can control how much or how little of it is exposed to end users when running serverless instances of it. For example, trained neural network data can be kept secure while exposing a cognitive API around it.
In addition, Nimbix offers a software-as-a-service (SaaS) marketplace where developers and independent software vendors are paid on a per usage basis when their workflows are consumed, and allows seamless updates of these workflows through the PushToCompute((TM) ) mechanism.
Nimbix provides on-demand and scalable compute resources that enable organizations to run large-scale High Performance Computing (HPC) workloads in the cloud. HPC allows scientists, developers, and engineers to solve complex science, engineering, development, big data, and business problems using applications that require high compute capabilities. Nimbix's growing number of integrated platform services allows organizations to increase the speed and effectiveness of research by running high performance computing in the Nimbix Cloud.

Tektronix Introduces Floating License Option for MPEG Analyzers
Available as an Upgrade, New Licensing Model Gives Multiple Users in Remote Locations Access to Critical Analysis Tools for Faster Debug, Improves ROI
BEAVERTON, Ore., Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Tektronix, Inc., an industry-leading innovator of video test and monitoring solutions, today announced a new floating license option for its MTS4000 MPEG Test System and MTS4SAV3 MPEG Transport Stream Analyzer. Available as an upgrade for existing customers, the new licensing model enables multiple users in remote locations to access critical analysis tools for faster debug and diagnosis of MPEG transport stream issues while also improving return on investment.
For large video service providers, it's important to give teams access to the tools they need to quickly troubleshoot problems in MPEG transport streams regardless of location or time of day. However, it can be cost prohibitive to give large teams with remote staff members a full license to tools that will be used infrequently. With the floating license model, users with a Tektronix MPEG analyzer installed can time share the software between teams and people to analyze and debug MPEG problems and take appropriate corrective measures.
"Floating licenses are a way for our customers to maximize their investment in our technologies and to speed up debug and diagnostics when there's a MPEG-related hiccup," said Charlie Dunn, general manager, Video Product Line, Tektronix. "We also see this as way for our customers to increase collaboration across multiple sites and locations and use the right tool whenever and wherever it's needed."
The MTS4000 MPEG Test System provides comprehensive MPEG transport streams analysis and interoperability testing. Its deep analysis of the transport streams, PES, and elementary streams helps track down sources of picture anomalies and identify transport streams with syntax errors. It can also capture events for deep analysis to identify the root cause of problems.
The MTS4SAV3 Transport Stream Analyzer offers a broad (across multiple standards and video layers) and deep (in-depth of generation and analysis) solution for compressed video test. The MTS4SAV3 standalone software can be applied anywhere at any level, to diagnose and solve the most subtle, complex, and intermittent DTV problems in the minimum time. It includes a comprehensive suite of analysis tools including transport stream compliance, buffer, PES, compressed video and audio elementary stream analyzers, together with applications for stream creation and analysis.

The game has several unlockable cars which are all built around a physics engine to ensure gameplay is fun and engaging.
The second game is called Chess Pro 3D and guaranteed to be a huge success with gamers who prefer more classic board games. The chess game can be played against a challenging computer opponent, or with a friend. Currently, we have more than 500 titles on Gametop.com but this year we have focused on bringing more exclusive titles to our users. Crazy Monster Trucks joins the very popular racing games category, and the Chess Pro 3D is a great addition to the board and card games category. Classic board games are always in demand, so it was high time for Gametop to have a great chess game of our own."
Both games are offered completely free of charge without in-game advertisements and guaranteed to be safe from malware. On top the new exclusive game releases, Gametop passed another exciting milestone in August: City Racing became the first game to hit the one million downloads mark and continues to be one of the most popular games of all time. Several other in-house developed titles have already passed the half a million mark, proving that the focus on exclusive titles is successful and very much appreciated by the Gametop users.

Drones, Robots and Fully Integrated Design: Third-Generation SunPower® Oasis® Platform Reinvents Solar Power Plants
More than 700 Megawatts Awarded To Date
SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --SunPower Corp. (Nasdaq: SPWR) announced today that the third-generation SunPower® Oasis® platform for large-scale solar power plants, featuring a seamless integration of hardware and software unprecedented in the solar industry, is launching at an event today at SunPower's new research and development facility in Davis, Calif.
"The Oasis platform is a complete solution that optimizes energy production and maximizes value for our power plant customers," said Tom Werner, president and CEO of SunPower. "Integral to each Oasis component, from the automated design tools to robotic panel cleaning, is more than 30 years of solar industry innovation and experience that only SunPower offers, enabling our customers to benefit from the world's most efficient, reliable solar technology available."
With more than 700 megawatts of the third-generation Oasis platform projects awarded to date, SunPower is starting construction on solar power plants in North America and China using the technology in the next several weeks. Beginning next year, all new solar power plants from SunPower will be constructed using the third generation Oasis platform.
"SunPower Oasis allows customers to generate more value from a broader selection of potential power plant sites, at an accelerated pace," Werner continued. "An Oasis solar power plant may be designed 90 percent faster than the time required to design conventional solar power plants. While flat, rectangular-shaped sites are required for other trackers on the market, Oasis can take advantage of unused irregularly shaped areas and slopes up to ten degrees to generate up to 60 percent more energy than conventional technology installed at the same site. Each additional ten acres of usable land on a site may represent two to four more megawatts of power, which can significantly impact a project's bottom line."
From project development through operations and maintenance (O&M), the Oasis platform optimizes return on investment with the following features:
-- The SunPower® Oasis GEO(TM) system is a groundbreaking component of the
Oasis platform that automates project design using drones and
proprietary software. Thousands of designs are generated and evaluated
by the software, based on site data gathered by the drones, and designs
that best serve the customer's financial and energy goals are
recommended. Developers can screen a large number of potential sites
quickly using the cloud-based computing platform and owners can be
assured that projects have been fully optimized for profitability and
lowest cost of energy (LCOE) versus conventional manual-based approaches
to project design and development.
-- Oasis tracker rows are un-ganged, or not linked, and are wider and
shorter in length than conventional trackers to enable flexible site
selection, more efficient site utilization and increased energy
production. The design allows for plants to be built on lands formerly
considered unsuitable for plant development due to irregular shapes or
slopes steeper than six degrees, the gradient limit for most
competitors' tracker technology. Oasis systems can be built on slopes up
to ten degrees, or 17 percent.
-- Greater distance between the Oasis tracker rows accommodates integrated
agricultural activity to enable dual use of sites for both power and
food production. SunPower is partnering with University of California,
Davis, a global leader in agricultural studies, to evaluate possible
crop varieties and yield. As the number of solar power plant
developments continue to grow around the world, the thoughtful
integration of large-scale solar power systems with agricultural lands
is an important consideration.
-- More than 50 percent fewer tracker parts and an integrated design
streamlines construction and reduces O&M costs. Oasis has no combiner
boxes, cable trays, motor batteries or other parts that typically cause
failure. All DC wiring of the trackers is managed above ground with
pre-manufactured DC harnesses to simplify and speed installation.
-- The fully integrated design supports both SunPower's high efficiency
E-Series panels as well as SunPower's Performance Series (P-Series)
solar panels. Both panels deliver industry leading long-term performance
and reliability while reducing balance of system costs and land
requirements.
-- Soiling can be a leading source of potential revenue loss for power
plant owners. SunPower utilizes proprietary robotic panel cleaning
technology at its power plants that uses 75 percent less water than
manual cleaning methods and operate at night to avoid disrupting daytime
energy production. Robots under development for use with the
third-generation Oasis platform are expected to have the capability to
clean ten megawatts of panels in ten hours with three workers, twice as
fast as the company's current robotic cleaning technology, and ten times
faster than manual cleaning methods used by competitors.
-- SunPower's Remote Operations and Control Center (ROCC) in Austin, Tex.
offers 24/7/365 site monitoring and control, optimizing energy
production to allow customers to better manage their energy. The ROCC
will be monitoring and controlling more than 1.8 gigawatts of solar
power plants around the world by the end of 2016.
The SunPower Research and Development Ranch, where SunPower is launching the new Oasis platform today, will host concept testing for new technologies that drive continued innovation in the energy industry. SunPower anticipates the R&D Ranch will create dozens of jobs in research and technology over the next five years. A leader in solar innovation and solar R&D investment, SunPower holds more than 600 patents.
Distinguished guests expected at today's event include Dr. Charlie Gay, director of the U.S. Department of Energy's SunShot Initiative, David Olsen of the California ISO Board of Governors, and SunPower founder Dr. Richard Swanson. The event includes a panel discussion on the future of large scale solar plants, moderated by Greentech Media's Julia Pyper.
Since launching its first-generation Oasis platform in 2010, SunPower has more than three gigawatts of solar power plants installed, under contract or in construction around the world, including the world's largest operational solar photovoltaic power plant, the Solar Star Projects in California.
The original Oasis platform was the first of SunPower's three fully-integrated systems built to work together for customer goals. The SunPower® Helix(TM) platform for commercial rooftops, ground and carports was launched in 2016, and the SunPower Equinox platform for residential rooftops made its debut earlier this year.
