Sound(TM) is the evolution of personal audio. Its design is inspired by the human ear, and the device's suite of features transcends headphones as they're currently defined. The technology was born out of the observation that major audio players play it safe with dated designs and avoid significant technological advances. Rather than build another bulky headphone or easily-lost plastic earbud, Human is building a fresh design that comfortably and securely attaches to the ear, combines multiple industry-bending functions, and acts as an extension of the human body.
Human seeks to build technologically advanced, yet radically simple, products that are utility and purpose driven. The product has no buttons, allowing for natural movement and swiping gestures to control the entire listening experience. Listeners can store the device easily by magnetically combining the two earphones together. Listeners turn on the device and play audio by pulling the earphones apart and placing them on their ears, and audio automatically pauses by removing the device from the listeners' ears and reuniting the earphones. Listeners can play music, pause tracks, skip forward, adjust volume, answer phone calls, and pair with their preferred Bluetooth device by simply touching the outer surface of the earphone. The device is charged on an induction charging station.
What truly places Sound in an entirely new category of audio is the totality of its hardware and software capabilities. In addition to Sound's core audio functions, touch controls, and revolutionary form and fit, the pre-sale offering combines three additional features into one system:
-- Social(TM) - Enjoy the same audio with multiple individuals,
simultaneously. Social creates a new level of audio sharing by allowing
listeners to selectively distribute and enjoy their audio with others.
-- Fade(TM) - Block out the noise of your surrounding environment or
increase it. Fade activates an ambient noise system to diminish external
sounds, and this feature also utilizes a microphone embedded within the
hardware to increase the volume of the listener's surroundings via an
intuitive touch command.
-- Amplify(TM) - Turn Sound into a loudspeaker by placing both earphones
together. Amplify creates a louder and richer sound than current mobile
handset speakers and many Bluetooth® offerings. The feature also allows
multiple units to unite under one audio source, creating a room-filling
sound.
Human is also offering a limited number of pre-sale customers the opportunity to beta test additional features:
-- Speak(TM) - Experience conversational, instantaneous language
translation thanks to Sound's language translation system.
-- Active(TM) - In and around the ear, there's an opportunity for advanced
biometric monitoring. Active will take biometric tracking to the next
level.
-- Sleep(TM) - The natural fit of Sound makes it possible for users to
comfortably fall asleep wearing the device. Enjoy REM-assist rhythms,
track sleep cycles in low-power mode, and be gently waken via your
preferred playlists.
Sound is available for pre-order on IndieGogo® with special launch day pricing and reward levels for a limited time and quantity.
"We are humbled and thrilled to open the Sound Program for pre-orders through the IndieGogo® platform," said Ben Willis, Co-Founder, CEO and CTO. "The notion of what makes an advanced audio device is about to drastically change."
Human chose IndieGogo® as its partner for its presale campaign because of its community of early-adopters. IndieGogo® has a history of helping young technology companies boot strap their growth, and it has a brand and customer centric approach to crowdfunding.
"The future of audio is more than wireless headphones. The industry has been playing it safe and only inching forward its consumer audio offerings. Human is taking a big step forward by creating a new category of communication and audio that transcends headphones altogether with an evolved design and a dynamic suite of features," said Joe Dieter, Co-Founder and CMO.
Human has grown at staggering rates in the past few months. Human has assembled a team of engineers and designers from companies like Microsoft®, Amazon®, and Google® to bring this technology to life.
Founded by a team of Pacific Northwest designers and engineers, and backed by Amazon® and Apple®'s first investors, Human is a company that creates people-empowering technologies with a purpose-driven design. Human's first program is an audio-communication technology simply called "Sound." Human seeks to build programs that bridge technology and humanity.

Complete, corrected release follows:
- Compatible With the Visa payWave Platform, These Contactless Credit and Debit Card
Acceptance Terminals are Currently Going Live in 40 INOX Multiplexes Across 7 Metro

- Once the Purchase Amount is Entered Into the Contactless Terminal, one Simply has to
Wave One's Contactless Card Near the Terminal to Have the Transaction Processed Wirelessly,
Thereby Significantly Elevating the Customer Experience
INOX Leisure Ltd, India's favourite multiplex chain, announced a strategic
partnership with Innoviti Payment Solutions that promises to not only enhance but also
upgrade customer experience like never before. Through this association, customers can now
buy a movie ticket or food and beverage items by simply waving the credit or debit card at
the contactless card acceptance terminals installed across various INOX multiplexes. This
is the first instance across the country where movie-goers will have the opportunity to
benefit from the convenience of faster and secure contactless card payment options.
The terminals are currently installed at 40 multiplexes across the 7 metro cities.
Gradually, this will be implemented in the remaining multiplexes also. This new technology
aims to help movie-goers to make their transactions faster and in a more convenient
manner. Moreover, since the card does not need to be handed over to the merchant, it
provides an inherent element of security.
Using the well-established Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, these new
contactless terminals are compatible with the Visa payWave platform, and can read any of
the contactless credit and debit cards being issued by various banks to their cardholders.
Commenting on this partnership, Mr. Jitender Verma, Chief Technology Officer at INOX
said, "Consumers today are a discerning lot and look for best-in-class service from any
provider. We are excited to be able to innovate and create such opportunities. INOX has

payWave technology is gaining momentum with increasing adoption among merchants and an
easier, faster and secure option for consumers to pay. As the payments ecosystem develops,
Visa will continue to deliver innovative solutions across segments and categories to drive
usage in familiar environments. We are delighted to welcome INOX to the family of
establishments accepting Visa payWave contactless cards."
Mr. Ravi Manik, Head of Payments & Consumer Lending business at Innoviti says, "We
have consistently been at the forefront of innovation in India's rapidly evolving payments
scenario, and are delighted to partner INOX in providing their customers with this greater
payment flexibility. We feel making such easy contactless payment available could be the
trigger that is needed to shift a large chunk of purchases away from cash, and towards
cards and other non-cash instruments."
As per RBI guidelines, for transactions up to INR 2000/-, Visa payWave cardholders can
use their contactless cards without having to enter a PIN or sign transaction receipts.
The Visa payWave enabled contactless cards ensure that transactions are secure, as the
card never leaves the hands of the customer thereby reducing the risk of card loss and
fraud. It also reduces queueing time for customers as it is a faster way to pay.
With this added feature, the entire end-to-end experience will be enhanced, giving
movie-goers an overall delightful experience. INOX in the recent past has introduced
various facilities such as Q-Busters, In Cinema F&B Ordering, Beacons and Paperless
ticketing.

Amerlux Stellina creates the shape of light to come with LED aisle lighting using Enlighted Smart Sensors
OAKLAND, N.J., Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Amerlux takes your light source out of the traditional straight-line format and into an arched realm of new design possibilities with Stellina Linear LED, optionally equipped with Enlighted Smart Sensors for aisle lighting in supermarkets. Softly curved fixtures offer clean lines and sleek styling that reshape light with innovation, flexibility and quality performance.
"The use of LED linear aisle lighting fixtures used within the supermarket industry haven't taken hold as quickly as they have within the commercial market," says Bill Plageman, vice president of marketing, for Amerlux. "The reason is: the dry goods aisles are lit with inexpensive fluorescent fixtures due to the lower profit margins within those areas. Today, linear LED is available at the right price and when you include dimming controls, motion and photocell sensors, linear LED not only saves energy and maintenance costs but delivers better color on packaging with better clarity.
"Amerlux can design in all of those benefits but can also turn their lights into data collecting devices providing information that could prove to be invaluable. Although typical LED fixtures can return up to 60% savings on energy with controls, Amerlux's Lighting systems offer nearly 85% energy savings," Mr. Plageman added.
Amerlux's Stellina luminaires feature Enlighted Digital Smart Sensors, which offer motion, photocell and dimming capabilities along with data collection, in each fixture. Retailers can control the space they manage, see how shoppers navigate the store, reduce energy spends and big data analytics generated through this technology while impacting the bottom line through substantial cost savings. A seamless, dense data network collects and communicates detailed information wirelessly on building occupancy and performance, environmental conditions, ambient light levels, temperature, and energy consumption, with the potential to extend savings to HVAC, demand response systems, security, safety, and other space management applications.
Very thin at only 1.5 inches, Amerlux Stellina LED Linear is offered as a direct pendant, indirect pendant or low bay fixture. Fixtures are offered in color temperatures of 2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K and two wattages-- 5 watts per foot (with 20-watt systems) or 10 watts per foot (with 40-watt systems).
A global trailblazer in lighting technology and design, Amerlux understands that the true power of light is not measured in lumens alone, but ultimately in the human responses it creates. Brilliant innovators in brand-new Oakland, N.J., headquarters, Amerlux develops, manufactures, and delivers amazing architectural grade lighting solutions that span virtually every interior and exterior application and leads the industry in integrated intelligent lighting systems.

Fauna, Inc., Raises $4.5M In Funding To Bring Industry's First Adaptive Operational Database To Market
Investment will support upcoming public launch and market development
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Fauna, Inc., a startup building the next-generation adaptive operational database, today announced the close of $4.5M in Series Seed funding. The oversubscribed round was led by Charles River Ventures, with participation from existing investors Data Collective, Quest VP, the Webb Investment Network, and Ulu Ventures. A number of angel investors, including industry pioneers Scott McNealy, founder of SUN Microsystems, and Olivier Pomel, founder of DataDog, also joined the round.
Founded in 2012 by early Twitter engineers, Fauna has developed the first adaptive operational database. FaunaDB lets digital businesses comprehensively address the requirements of modern applications, without sacrificing agility. It combines global distribution with an innovative multi-tenant architecture that allocates resource consumption by business priority. With a secure, developer-friendly query language and forthcoming ACID-compliant strong consistency, FaunaDB enables IT organizations to achieve a balance between operational efficiency and ease of developing modern, business-critical applications.
"Despite decades of database innovation, companies are still burdened by expensive, inflexible, and redundant systems," said Evan Weaver, co-founder and CEO. "Engineering teams spend half their time fighting fires rather than innovating. The opportunity costs are enormous. We've spent four years building and proving out an entirely new database architecture that enables companies to definitively bridge the chasm between scale and adaptability. We're excited to now prepare for our initial public launch."
"Modern enterprises need to deliver operational data in real-time, at global scale," said Murat Bicer, General Partner at CRV. "The Fauna team's success at solving this challenge at Twitter gives them unique insight into how operational databases should evolve. FaunaDB is already deployed and trusted by enterprises in mission-critical environments supporting tens of millions of users in production. This demonstrates the disciplined approach the Fauna team have taken in bringing their ground-breaking technology to market, and we are thrilled to be a part of it."
FaunaDB is already a mission-critical component for companies that need to deliver products at global scale, increase infrastructure utilization, decrease operational overhead, and improve time to market. Early customers using cloud and on-premise deployments of FaunaDB include NVIDIA, as well as other industry leaders in data-rich industries such as social, mobile, SaaS, IoT, and gaming.
"At Twitter we were painfully aware of the lack of off-the-shelf systems that were flexible, safe, and scalable," said Matt Freels, co-founder and CTO. "That pain is still felt by IT organizations everywhere, but we're now changing that with FaunaDB."
FaunaDB is currently in managed beta. For more information and to sign-up for the beta program, please visit: https://fauna.com/join-beta.

Otono Networks and G&D Announce Partnership to Offer eSIM Advanced Enablement Services to Mobile Carriers at 2016 Competitive Carriers Association Annual Convention
SEATTLE, Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- OtonoNetworks and Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) will team up at the Competitive Carriers Association's 2016 Annual Convention to announce a partnership to offer advanced eSIMenablement and management services in the global market for device connectivity.
With the first eSIM-enabled wearables coming to the North American market, there is both an opportunity and a challenge for the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) to manage. The MNOs have an opportunity to offer additional connections to their existing consumer base with the freedom eSIM technologies offer. While adding more devices to the family share plan benefits the market, activating these devices requires technology investments.
G&D anticipates several eSIM-enabled consumer devices launching in the North American market in 2017 - starting with companion devices such as smart watches. While the market in Asia has already launched mobile devices with eSIM technology, the expectation is to see eSIM-enabled devices in North America by 2018 in a larger scale. By 2020, a hundred million smart phones are projected to be eSIM-enabled, and the GSMA predicts over 10 billion mobile connected devices by the end of the same year. This rapid growth will be seen across a variety of industries, including consumer devices (wearables, tablets, smart phones), connected cars, Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M).
Mobile Carriers worldwide will benefit from the Otono and G&D partnership, which pairs the G&D AirOn Platform with the Otono Platform to create a seamless user journey: eSIM activation to launch eSIM-enabled products quickly and easily. This will allow Operators to offer electronic vouchers such that their customers can remotely add companion devices without the need to visit a Point of Sale location to scan a physical voucher.
The Otono Platform is a robust and flexible global connectivity solution, focused on the enablement of wireless services for any device. The platform is both carrier- and device-agnostic, designed to meet the connectivity requirements of any MNO and integrate with any platform or technology standard. Otono handles the carrier integration, eSIM provisioning and management.
"We can help MNOs launch an eSIM-enabled product in under four months at a fraction of the cost," says Emir Aboulhosn, CEO and Founder of Otono. "The Otono Platform was architected with flexibility and scalability in mind, and together with G&D, we can help mobile carriers be fast to market with any eSIM product."
G&D launched the first commercial eSIM management solution and continues to onboard leading mobile network operators, and G&D's AirOn supports the Remote SIM Provisioning specification for consumer devices and M2M set by the GSMA. AirOn is a comprehensive system that efficiently and securely activates, manages, and updates SIMs and devices Over-the-Air (OTA). When users of a mobile-enabled device request eSIM activation, AirOn securely transfers an operator profile through the connected network. G&D's extensive experience in OTA systems and mobile security solutions ensures that communication and device identification will be secure.
"We are excited to work with Otono to make the user journey as straight forward and convenient as possible for the consumers and the carriers that serve them," says John Gillespie, Sr. Vice President of G&D's North American Telecommunication Industries business. "At the end of the day, carriers want to enable consumer choice and adoption of new technologies. Our objective is to make it as easy as possible for them to securely activate the growing number of connected devices on the market."
About Otono - Otono Networks, Inc. is an emerging global technology based telecom with multiple carrier-supported networks out of Vancouver, Canada. Otono's platform is primarily focused on flexible, global connectivity and mobile enablement solutions using both traditional SIM and eSIM technologies, allowing easier and faster network integration. Otono is the parent company of several mobile services, including Roam Mobility for USA, Roam Mobility for Canada, ZIP SIM, and AlwaysOnline Wireless. Crowdfunding for China's Magic "climate Control Cup" Receives Enthusiastic Response on JD.com
CHENGDU, China, Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Recently, a never before seen "climate control cup", a receptacle with the ability to accurately control the temperature of its outer surface and of its contents, developed and manufactured by Cool Ctrl and distributed by Chengdu 51 Technology, has received an enthusiastic response in China.
Since the crowdfunding campaign began on JD.com in a new drinking cup category on September 8 (http://z.jd.com/project/details/65574.html), the cup met its crowdfunding goal of RMB200,000 on the first day and exceeded its goal by 60 percent after one week.
Internet users have been surprised at the incredible and powerful features of the unprecedented cup in terms of its ability to deliver the contents, whether "iced" or "piping hot" with an unusual level of precision. The cup has also drawn extensive media coverage, with hundreds of articles being written by journalists competing to be the first to reveal its temperature control secret.
The cup is called "climate control cup" for its ability to precisely set the temperature of its contents. As a new product category, the product has gone beyond most people's understanding of traditional cups in terms of functionality. It is not a vacuum cup, yet can keep drinks hot for four hours. It is the first portable "climate control" device available in the market that controls temperature mechanically without the use of any electronic components.
The outer surface temperature of the cup can be controlled within the range desired by the user by placing the cup either upright or upside down, then shaking it at different speeds. The device makes use of the temperature sensitivity of human skin and the heat transfer process that normally takes place between arteries and the nearby skin, and, combined with the temperature control characteristics of climate control devices, the cup transfers the designated temperature to the human skin and arteries, allowing users to warm their hands or to apply hot or ice compresses.
The cup can also be used as a tool to cool hot water quickly. The cup can maintain a level of cold or warmth according to user preferences as the device comes equipped with a hidden mechanical temperature control device which was developed after five years of research and is backed by one invention and two utility model patents.
The "climate control cup" uses the best in terms of grade of materials, including infant medical-grade, 316 stainless steel used for the liner and FDA-certified Eastman Tritan copolyester for the lid. Eastman Tritan is a material designated by both the European and US governments for use in the manufacturing of products for infants and young children.
The outer shell of the cup is made of high-standard food-grade 304 stainless steel which is the material most commonly used for the liners of stainless steel vacuum cups. In addition, the cup's key temperature control unit is 100% handmade, demonstrating the designer's extraordinary design process and the dedication to the application of the best in terms of the grade of the materials, despite the elevated cost.
In addition, an ebony version of the cup, based on the theme of the exclusively authorized mobile game edition of The Legend of Chusen, a popular TV series which is currently airing on many television stations across China, has gathered the attention of the game's fans.
Unlike traditionally shaped stainless steel vacuum cups, the cup designed by Newplan Design, a renowned global designer which has won the Red Dot design award, is imbued with a soul where "fire and water mix". The ebony version of the cup has been created based on the shape and appearance of the fire stick in the mobile game, with the dynamic choice of color and the temperature control functionality reflecting the vibrancy and the temperature control characteristics of the most famous magic weapon owned and used by Zhang Xiaofan in the game.
Launched concurrently with the TV series' mobile game edition that entered open beta on September 13, 2016, the cup is available in six fashion colors, ebony, crystal silver, champagne gold, Sakura pink, cherry red and deep sea blue, catering to the preferences of a wide range of consumers.
Z CAM S1 - Professional VR Camera Designed for VR Content Creators and Professional Users
SHENZHEN, China, Sept. 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ImagineVision Technology launched its professional VR camera Z CAM S1 on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo today, with the device rapidly arousing strong interest among VR content creators and professional users.
The high performance, modestly-priced, feature-heavy Z CAM S1 makes a professional VR camera more affordable for consumers, significantly lowering the threshold for the production of VR content and broadening access to VR applications worldwide.
"Z CAM S1 is the best VR Camera we have ever used, in terms of image quality, usability and price performance," said Tong Xiao Liang of Whaley VR, a leader in China's VR industry.
Capable to output spherical resolution of either 4K 60fps or 6K 30fps after stitching, Z CAM S1 is better than any sport camera rig solutions. According to Kinson Loo, CEO of ImagineVision Technology, "when we talk about VR, the first thing we need is a good VR camera. We talked to VR studios and content creators and all of them are looking for a better VR camera. So we decided to make a better one," he said.
One set Z CAM 360º Video Stitching Software (MSRP $1499), provides real time stitching for live streaming, automatic offline stitching optical flow based. The beta version will be available in December 2016 ahead of an official release in February 2017. The device is compatible with Z CAM S1 only.
Emphasizing its excellent image quality and usability, Z CAM S1 is targeting VR content creators and professional users who want to have a more user friendly solution. "Our team is very experienced in camera products and we successfully launched the Z CAM E1 last year," said Jason Zhang, Founder & Chairman of ImagineVision Technology. "Now I am very proud to present the Z CAM S1, which I think is the best of its kind. Seeing is believing."
Based on the Z Cam E1 camera system, S1 is built with a fully integrated four image sensor system. All four sensors are precisely synchronized to ensure simultaneous recording. Each lens is closely mounted with each other, resulting in shorter safety distance between the camera and the object.
ImagineVision have chosen a superb high resolution 190º fisheye lens, which provides excellent image quality and outperforms those sport camera rig solutions.
In addition to the four individual HDMI ports, there is a Gigabit Ethernet port, which allows not only easy and fast image file transfer but also live view possibility through external solutions. And since ImagineVision provides full set open API, expert users would find this extremely useful because they can remotely control S1 through the Ethernet port.
ImagineVision thinks professional VR cameras should be more sophisticated than traditional cameras. They have developed a special algorithm to coordinate Auto White Balance and Auto Exposure of all four sensors, resulting in more harmonized images.
"Z CAM S1 is the most stable and convenient VR camera we have ever used," said Sun Wen Bo, CEO of Letin VR Digital Technology, a leading VR studio in China. " Its highly integrated and versatile design has greatly optimized our production work flow."
Z CAM S1 is now available for pre-order on Indiegogo for a limited time offer of USD1,999.00. Z CAM 360º Video Stitching Software (MSRP $1,499.00), offered at 50% discount and in limited quantities, provides real time stitching for live streaming, automatic offline stitching optical flow based.
Z CAM is a product line created by Shenzhen ImagineVision Technology Limited, a team of innovative and creative people dedicated to developing high performance imaging products and solutions.

Sony Announces New Full-Frame a99 II A-mount Camera
Flagship A-mount camera Features Ultra-Fast 4D FOCUS with 79 hybrid cross AF points(1) plus 12 fps continuous shooting(2), High Resolution 42.4 MP Exmor R(R) CMOS sensor, 5-axis in-body image stabilization and more
COLOGNE, Germany, Sept. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Electronics, a worldwide leader in digital imaging and the world's largest image sensor manufacturer, has today introduced their new flagship A-mount camera, the 99 II.
Reaffirming Sony's commitment to produce industry leading A-mount cameras, the impressive new camera combines the best of many of their latest digital imaging innovations including a new Hybrid Phase Detection AF system with exclusive Sony A-mount features such as Translucent Mirror Technology(TM). The result is a supremely specified, professional level camera that will be appealing to a variety of professional and enthusiast photographers.
"We are continuing to innovate with each new camera body, lens and accessory that we bring to market, offering compelling choices to both existing and prospective users of the Sony system," said Neal Manowitz, Vice President of Digital Imaging at Sony Electronics. "With the 99 II, we're delivering an industry-leading level of performance to A-mount owners and enthusiasts. Its powerful combination of speed and resolution is simply unmatched in today's market."
Redefining Autofocus and Speed
The new 99 II camera is Sony's first full-frame camera to feature the acclaimed 4D FOCUS system, bringing a supreme level of AF performance to Sony's A-mount line-up. The Hybrid Phase Detection AF system is enabled by combining a precision 79-point(3) dedicated phase detection AF sensor with 399 focal plane phase detection AF points(4)- to produce a 79 hybrid cross AF point(1) array. This enables incredibly precise autofocus performance and advanced subject tracking of any high-speed moving objects across the frame. In addition Translucent Mirror Technology, with no moving mirror, ensures steady, continuous AF operation and live image preview during both still image and video shooting. The precision AF system also performs exceptionally in low-light conditions, as it will function properly in brightness levels as low as EV-4(5) and in dark locations where most other cameras struggle.
In addition to its advanced autofocusing, the 99 II has been designed to allow for high resolution, continuous shooting at high frame rates. The camera features a new front-end LSI that works with the image sensor, BIONZ X((R)) image processing engine and a newly designed shutter unit to enable continuous shooting at impressive speeds of up to 12fps(2) with AF/AE tracking(6). Thanks to a large buffer, these shots can be viewed immediately after shooting, even when in high-speed continuous shooting mode. Additionally, if these high-speed shots are being taken indoors under artificial lighting, the camera can automatically detect flicker and time the shutter accordingly to minimize its effect on the resulting images(7).
The new 99 II also has the ability to deliver continuous live shooting at up to 8 fps(8 )with AF/AE tracking and minimal display lag thanks to overall improvements in the EVF algorithm. This offers photographers a shooting experience that closely mimics that of an optical viewfinder, while still offering all of the benefits of an electronic viewfinder including a live preview of exposure, white balance and several other camera settings. This continuous live view shooting can be set in 3 stages to match a variety of subjects: 8 fps, 6 fps and 4 fps.
Pixel Power
The back-illuminated full-frame 42.4MP(9) Exmor R CMOS sensor in the new 99 II model features a gapless-on-chip design that allows for fast readout of large volumes of data and maximizes light gathering ability. The net result is very high sensitivity with low noise, wide dynamic range and 42.4MP resolution across an ISO range of 100-25600, expandable to ISO 50 - 102,400(10).
The new camera has also been designed without an optical low-pass filter, ensuring that all of the finest natural details and textures can be captured with unprecedented depth and realism. Both compressed and uncompressed RAW files are readily available based on user preferences.
5-axis SteadyShot(TM) INSIDE Image Stabilization
Sony has designed a new in-body 5 axis image stabilization system for A-mount cameras that debuts for the first time in the 99 II model. Having proven to be incredibly popular in the 7 II series of cameras, this five axis system effectively detects and compensates for movement in all axes including X and Y, pitch and yaw and camera roll, and ensures that all captured content is crisp and blur-free. The new stabilization system provides a shutter speed advantage of 4.5 steps(11), ensuring the full potential of the 42.4MP sensor can be realized. Also, with a simple half press of the shutter button, the effect of this the image stabilization can be monitored in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen, allowing framing and focus to be accurately checked and continually monitored.
Improved design and operability
Based upon feedback from professional users, the design of new 99 II has noticeably evolved compared to its predecessor. The new model is 8% smaller than the original 99 and features a newly designed grip, magnesium alloy body, dual SD card slots(12) and dust and moisture resistance(13).
The 99 II also features a new shutter unit that has an estimated life of more than 300,000 operations(14), as well as an XGA OLED Tru-finder with a ZEISS(R) T* Coating that offers a powerful 0.78x magnification and delivers outstanding clarify from corner to corner. The viewfinder also has a fluorine coating on the outer lens to prevent fingerprints, dust, water, oil and dirt from sticking, ensuring a clear view.
The silent Multi Controller introduced in the original 99 has been improved as well, as it now offers a click-stop ON/OFF switch in addition to allowing control of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation, AF area, AF mode and other settings. The 99 II also offers location data acquisition via a Bluetooth(15) connection to a compatible mobile device and an updated menu structure to deliver a smoother navigational experience.
Movie Magic
For the first time in a Sony A-mount camera, the 99 II has the ability to record 4K video internally(16) with full pixel readout and no pixel binning(17) through usage of the professional friendly XAVC S format. The camera is capable of recording high quality footage at 100Mbps for 4K recording, and utilizing the full width of the large, full-frame image sensor in doing so. It also offers a new 'Slow and Quick' mode(18) (S&Q) that supports both slow motion and quick motion. In this mode, frame rates from 1 fps to 120 fps can be selected in 8 steps for up to 60x quick motion and 5x slow motion recording(19).
A host of other features for professional movie production workflow are also included in the 99 II such as picture profiles, time code and clean HDMI output as well as gamma assist for real time S-Log monitoring and a zebra mode for easier exposure adjustment. S-Log3 and S-Log2 gamma are both included as well.
Pricing and Availability
The Sony 99 II full-frame interchangeable lens camera will ship this November to authorized Sony retailers throughout North America and will be sold for about $3,200 US and $4,000 CA.

control of the machine.

SentabTV Launched to Connect the Generation that Technology Forgot
New Hardware from Sentab Seamlessly Syncs with Users' TVs, Ensuring Ease-of-Use for Senior Citizens
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Sentab, a unique platform that lets users connect in real time with their friends and loved ones, today announced the release of its SentabTV digital media player. The launch comes just in time for the holidays, on the heels of the company's newly-available iOS and Android apps and web program. SentabTV seeks to enable unlimited cross-device connectivity, and remove the technological barriers that prevent senior citizens from enjoying the social aspects of the Internet.
"The desire to help people all over the world connect, capture and share their precious moments with loved ones is what led us to develop SentabTV," said Tarmo Pihl, Founder and CEO of Sentab. "By blending the simplicity of the TV platform with the immediacy of live-recorded video via mobile devices and computers, SentabTV will help make the user experience more authentic."
According the U.S. Census Bureau, the number of people ages 65 and older will reach 82.3 million by 2040. SentabTV can provide key benefits to this growing, often overlooked population. The easy-to-use, integrated platform will help them combat loneliness, communicate more effectively with family members and care providers within senior living communities - all via their TV. The technology has been well-received by reputable leaders within the industry. Brookdale Senior Living, for example, has agreed to a residency program where they will trial SentabTV within their communities.
"A frequent complaint made by seniors and their relatives stems from the limited availability of health care providers/physicians and poor communication overall." said Dr. Aniket Chakrabarti, an Internal Medicine/Geriatric Specialist based in Pembroke, Massachusetts. "SentabTV will enable patients to connect with their healthcare providers/physicians directly through a secure telemedicine portal at their convenience, remedying all those aforementioned stigmas associated with geriatric care, as well as unnecessary hospital visits and prolonged ER stays."
SentabTV was designed to cater to the needs of elderly users. The large TV display and remote control navigation are perfect for those with aging eyes and dexterity problems. The latest release provides optical research engineers with the ability to evaluate multi-channel coherent modulation schemes with confidence using a single measurement system. Engineers can now calibrate and control multiple OMA's to easily acquire and analyze simultaneous data from multiple channels such as different wavelengths or fiber cores.
"This release of our OMA software will improve the multi-channel test experience for researchers developing advanced coherent optical communication and networking technologies such as QAM or DP-QPSK," said Brian Reich, general manager, Performance Oscilloscopes, Tektronix. "We are reducing the cost of setting up multiple OMA systems and we're reducing the time between receiving multiple OMA hardware systems and getting calibrated, synchronized data from those systems."
Included in this release is a new visual OMA setup tool that facilitates reconfiguration of the oscilloscopes and coherent receiver front-ends so that the same hardware can be used for many different applications like PAM4 research or increased channel count in DP-QPSK testing.
The need for multi-channel coherent research is growing with the use of spatial (or modal) division multiplexing that requires an OMA to down convert and digitize data for each channel. Multi-carrier communication applications also require one OMA per wavelength channel when the wavelength separation is more than the OMA bandwidth.

Anagog's Mobility Status SDK to Help Pango Drivers Find the Nearest Available Parking Spot
Pango is leveraging Anagog's technology to provide real-time parking predictions, powered by the crowd
TEL AVIV, Israel, September 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Anagog [http://www.anagog.com ], the leading provider of mobility status services and
solutions for mobile apps is announcing today a revolutionary implementation of its SDK
with Pango+ [http://en.pango.co.il ], the most popular parking app in Israel. The
implementation enables Pango+ users with a new 'parking-hunter' feature, which is the
world's first crowd-sourced parking space prediction system, helping drivers navigate
directly to a soon to be vacated parking space near their destination.
Anagog's SDK uses advanced mobility status detection to understand the activity and
context of users at any given time. The SDK uses data from multiple on-board smartphone
sensors to predict if a driver is about to vacate a parking spot, several minutes before
it happens, and offer this tip to other drivers seeking a free parking in the area.
With Pango+ app popularity in Israel and the majority of drivers using it, Anagog
enables to use the wisdom of the crowd, combined with its smart algorithms to offer Pango+
users an effective planning of their parking before arriving at their destination. The
'parking-hunter' will accurately identify and offer different parking alternatives near
the destination, whether in parking lots or on-street.
"We are extremely excited to be working with Pango+ on making this visionary
'parking-hunter' into a reality", said Ofer Tziperman, CEO of Anagog. "Our mobility status
SDK uses a patented on-device machine learning algorithm that analyze the raw signals
generated by the various smartphone's sensors, to understand the precise activity level,
context and location of users. We can understand when a driver starts walking back to
their car and make this real-time information available to all the drivers in the
vicinity. This solution maintains full anonymity of the users. We don't need to know who
is vacating a parking space, just that someone is about to leave a certain space. Parking
apps such as Pango+ provide a classic scenario where we can bring value and increase user
engagement with the app. Our mobility status SDK is already deployed by over 15 million
users globally via over 60 apps from different domains and our install base is growing
fast".
"Working with Anagog's mobility status SDK has really helped us taking Pango+ to the
next level", said Roy Elbaz, CEO of Pango+. "We can now help our users know of available
parking spots and choose their preferred one, based on various parameters such as walking
distance from the parking space to the final destination, the price for parking and more.
Also, in today's urban areas looking for parking can take a big chunk of the overall trip,
which has monetary, and environmental implications. A feature such as the 'parking-hunter'
can help drivers save valuable time searching for parking. We further allow the drivers to
save on parking costs by offering the cheapest option near their destination. In the macro
level, it can also help streamlining movement of vehicles and help drivers avoid congested
areas, reducing both overall traffic and air pollution".

Cache Controller Core from CAST Augments Cache-Less 32-bit Processors
WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J., Sept. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A cache memory controller IP core available from semiconductor intellectual property provider CAST, Inc. brings cost- and resource-effective improvements in performance, bandwidth, and function to systems using cache-less 32-bit processors.
The new CACHE-CTRL Cache Controller IP Core enables the addition of single or multilevel cache memory to systems using cache-less 32-bit processors such as the BA20 PipeLineZero(TM) or ARM(®) Cortex(®)-M0 processors. This can significantly decrease the access time to energy-consuming DRAM, Flash, or EEPROM memories. It also allows these economical processors to run code directly from an off-chip NOR-flash device (Execute in Place, XIP) while minimizing the typical performance or power penalties of off-chip access.
The Cache Controller is easy to add to general purpose, digital signal processing (DSP), or application-specific instruction set (ASIP) processors in different types of embedded systems. It uses standard AMBA® AHB processor and memory interfaces, and supports clock gating. Mapping the core to any ASIC or FPGA technology is straightforward, as it has no special static RAM requirements and works with any standard, single-ported SRAM device.
The Cache Controller supports a four-way associative cache memory, and implements a Least Recently Used (LRU) replacement policy. Users can configure the number of cache lines and cache line width at synthesis time. The core is conservative in its use of silicon area; for example, when configured with eight words per line and 256 lines per set (1024 lines in total), it synthesizes to about 9,000 equivalent NAND2 gates. It also performs well--running over 1GHz in a typical 20nm technology--and has been silicon-proven.
Sourced from Silesia Devices, the new Cache Controller Core is available now from CAST. See http://www.cast-inc.com, email info@cast-inc.com, or call +1 201.391.8300 for more information.

COLOGNE, Germany, Sept. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic is proud to introduce the DMC-G85 (G85), a new rugged-design DSLM (Digital Single Lens Mirrorless) camera, as the latest member of the LUMIX G Series. The LUMIX G85 incorporates a host of advanced technologies and practical functions in a compact body for field use.
The 5-axis Dual I.S. (Image Stabilizer)*( 1) is further advanced in the LUMIX G85 as the new "5-axis Dual I.S. 2," boasting even more effective suppression against blurring. By adopting a new gyro sensor, the O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer, 2-axis) and B.I.S. (Body Image Stabilizer, 5-axis) are finely controlled to take maximum advantage of both stabilization systems. Users can enjoy blur-free photo and video shooting not only in wide angle but also in telephoto, even in low light situations. Plus, the adoption of a new shutter unit and magnesium front panel reduces shutter shock by approx. 90% to suppress even the slightest level of shake.
The LUMIX G85 packs a host of advanced functions and technologies that let users capture unmissable moments. Taking advantage of 4K technology, users can capture the fleeting photo opportunities at 30 fps in 8-megapixel equivalent resolution to save as a 4K PHOTO. The Contrast AF System features DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology and excels in both speed and accuracy by exchanging digital signals between the camera and the lens at max. 240 fps*(2), resulting in ultra-fast auto focusing of approx. 0.07 sec*(3.) The burst shooting performance is also improved to achieve 9 fps (AFS) / 6 fps (AFC) up to 300 (JPEG) / 45 (RAW ) images or more.
To be tough enough to withstand even heavy field use, the LUMIX G85 features a rugged design and splash / dustproof construction. It integrates an OLED LVF (Live View Finder) with 2360K-dot high resolution in approx. 1.48x / 0.74x (35mm camera equivalent) magnification capability. The free-angle 3.0-inch large, approx. 1040K-dot touch-control monitor with approx.100% field of view makes shooting in high and low angles easier.
The 16.0-megapixel Digital Live MOS Sensor without Low Pass filter and the new Venus Engine combine to achieve crisp, high resolution images in detail with high contrast, impressive color reproduction and max. ISO 25,600 high sensitivity.
The LUMIX G85 is capable of serious video recording, too. It records smooth, high-resolution 4K video in 3840x2160 at 30p (60Hz) or 24p in MP4. The LUMIX G85 is also capable of real-time image output to the external monitor/recorder via HDMI simultaneously while recording video. The 3.5mm microphone jack provides high quality audio recording with an external microphone.
Panasonic's unique technologies further enrich the user's photographic experience. The newly integrated Focus Stacking function lets users adjust the depth of field after shooting by simply selecting the focusing area.
For even more creative photography, the LUMIX G85 incorporates the L.Monochrome mode in Photo Style, which offers an impressive monochrome picture with rich gradation like that of B/W film. Thanks to the Wi-Fi(R) connectivity, users can connect the camera to their smartphone or tablet to expand the flexibility in shooting/storing/sharing images. Focus Bracket and Aperture Bracket are also newly added to the conventional Exposure Bracket and WB Brackets that allow users to choose the best shot after shooting.

*(1 )5-Axis Dual I.S. 2 works when attaching the lens that complies with it. The compliant lenses are H-FS14140 and H-FS12060 as of 19 September, 2016. Firmware update of the lens is also required.
*(2 )Contrast AF with DFD Technology works only with Panasonic Micro Four Thirds lenses.
*(3 )In AFS, at wide-end with H-FS14140 (CIPA).
1. 5-Axis Dual I.S. (Image Stabilizer) 2 - The ultimate advantage against any type of blurring
The LUMIX G85 incorporates the new 5-axis Dual I.S.(Image Stabilizer) 2* which has advanced to boast even more powerful and effective blurring suppression. Combining an O.I.S.(Optical Image Stabilizer, 2-axis) and B.I.S.(Body Image Stabilizer, 5-axis), it compensates for larger movements which were conventionally uncontrollable. The LUMIX G85 integrates a high precision gyro sensor that controls the distribution of O.I.S./B.I.S. compensation by studying the focal length and shooting conditions, making it possible to use max.5-stop slower shutter speed*(1). By making the most of both O.I.S and B.I.S., it is highly beneficial not only in wide angle but also in telephoto and in adverse situations, such as at nighttime or with one-handed shooting.
The 5-axis Dual I.S. 2 works for both photo and motion picture recording, including 4K video. Panasonic LUMIX G DSLM (Digital Single Lens Mirrorless) Cameras offer a wide variety of digital interchangeable lenses and most of them will comply with the 5-axis Dual I.S. in the LUMIX G85*(2) and the B.I.S. compensates for camera movement even when a lens without O.I.S. is used.
The LUMIX G85 features an electromagnetic drive in the shutter unit. The shock caused by the movement of the shutter diaphragm is dramatically reduced and the shutter sound is minimized. Together with the adoption of solid magnesium for the front panel, the total shutter shock is reduced by approx.90% compared with the predecessor G7. This enables users to release the mechanical shutter even in situations where they previously had to use the electronic shutter.
*(1 )Based on the CIPA standard [Yaw/Pitch direction: focusing distance f=50-140mm (35mm film camera equivalent f=100-280mm), when H-FS14140 is used.
*(2 )5-Axis Dual I.S. 2 works when attaching the lens that complies with it. The compliant lenses are H-FS14140 and H-FS12060 as of 19 September, 2016. Firmware update of the lens is also required.
2. No more missed photo opportunities - cutting edge technologies & stunning performance
Thanks to this 4K technology, users can experience 4K PHOTO to capture fleeting photo opportunities at 30 fps by extracting the frame with the best timing out of the 4K burst file to save as a photo. In 4K PHOTO, three exclusive modes are available to choose from depending on the situation; 4K Burst, 4K Burst (Start/Stop) and 4K Pre-burst. All of these functions in 4K PHOTO let the user save pictures in 8-megapixel equivalent high resolution without missing spur-of-the-moment shots. Plus, multiple images can be saved as 4K PHOTO shots all at once in the LUMIX G85. A maximum of 150 frames in five seconds following a designated frame can be saved.
The Contrast AF achieves even higher speed, higher precision focusing with digital signal communication at max. 240 fps. Furthermore, the DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology*(1) calculates the distance to the subject by evaluating 2 images with different sharpness levels while consulting the data of optical characteristics of the current lens in a moment. As a result, the LUMIX G85 achieves ultra-high speed AF of approx.0.07 sec*(2.) Multi- processing capability realizes high speed burst shooting at 9 fps (AFS) / 6 fps (AFC) to capture fast moving subject in crisp focus. Furthermore, the Venus Engine in the LUMIX G85 is more capable of tracking moving subjects, and it prevents out-of-focus shots even when the subject is fast-moving or when an obstacle cut across in front of the subject. Newly added AF Sensitivity mode lets the user set the tracking sensitivity according to the shooting situation. The compatibility of UHS-II SDXC/SDHC Memory Card and increased buffer memory elevates the maximum number of recordable images in consecutive shooting up to 300 (JPEG) / 45 (RAW ) images or more.
For AF performance, the Low Light AF makes it possible to set focus on the subject more precisely even without an AF assist lamp in extremely low-lit situations down to -4EV, which is as dark as under moonlight. Plus, the DMC-G85 integrates Starlight AF which allows users to shoot a star in the sky at night with auto focus. This can be achieved by the accurate calculation of the contrast value in a smaller AF zone. A total of 49 focus detection areas enable more flexible composition together with the Custom Multi AF mode in which users can freely select the blocks to focus on out of the 49 focusing areas. In addition to the conventional Face Recognition AF, the DMC-G85 incorporates Face / Eye Detection AF which automatically sets focus right on the eye of a human face. With the Pinpoint AF, users can magnify the target area for more precise focus.
3. Perfect mobility with careful design and control - optimized for handheld field use
To withstand even heavy field use, the LUMIX G85 boasts a rugged design with a front structure composed of a magnesium alloy full die cast front frame. It also features a splash / dustproof construction thanks to the use of sealing in every joint, dial, and button.
The LUMIX G85 has a large LVF (Live View Finder) with a high magnification ratio of approx.1.48x / 0.74x (35mm camera equivalent). High-precision, high-speed OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) display features 2,360K-dot high resolution and 100% field of view. Adoption of OLED for the LVF achieves high speed response with minimum time lag of less than 0.01 sec as well as 10,000:1 high contrast for exceptional visibility. With an eyepoint of approximately 20 mm, it offers high visibility with comfort for users wearing glasses. It is always sharp and clear from the center all the way to the corners.
Adopting a static-type touch control system, the 3-inch free-angle rear monitor with 1040K-dot high resolution features approx.100% field of view. It tilts up and down by 270-degree which makes shooting in either high or low angle even easier.
To further enhance controllability, the LUMIX G85 comes with an ergonomically-designed thick grip for stable holding even in one hand. The front/rear dual dial system with dial operation switch enables direct setting - for example, users can adjust the white balance with a front dial and set the ISO with a rear dial while choosing the shutter speed or watching the noise effect, which is helpful in complex lighting situations. Two custom modes (C1 and C2) on the mode dial enable users to access the target menu quickly.
4. High image quality with true-to-life detail and impressive color reproduction
The LUMIX G85 lets users shoot vibrant, true-to-life high quality images with excellent resolution, high contrast and impressive color reproduction. Removing the Low Pass Filter, the limiting resolution is improved by approx.10%* while detecting high frequency components to suppress the generation of moire by the Venus Engine.
The Venus Engine even reproduces vibrant, impressive colors for images such as clear skies by dividing the hue, saturation, and luminosity, and finely adjusts them separately. Taking advantage of these fine tuning capabilities, the LUMIX G85 enables users to choose a preset of contrast, sharpness, saturation and noise reduction as they like, according to the shooting subject in Photo Style. Notably, L Monochrome mode in Photo Style makes it possible to shoot impressive monochrome photos with deep black and rich gradation like that of B/W film.
The combination of the Digital Live MOS Sensor and the Venus Engine achieves clear image rendering with minimum noise even in low-lit situations and at max. ISO 25,600.
*Panasonic comparison with DMC-G7.
5. 4K capability brings evolution to videography
Taking advantage of the high speed signal readout capability of the sensor and high speed signal processing, the LUMIX G85 is capable of recording 4K video*(1)*(2). Despite its high performance, it boasts superior energy efficiency and its size is kept compact for high mobility. The LUMIX G85 records stunningly smooth, high-resolution 4K video in 3840x2160 30p (60Hz) or 24p in addition to the full-HD 1,920 x 1,080 60p (60Hz) videos with practical full-time AF.
The LUMIX G85 is also capable of real-time image output to the external monitor in 4:2:2 / 8-bit*(3) via an optional micro HDMI cable simultaneously while recording video. Users can choose to output only the recording content or the content with the setting menus individually depending on the display.
Gamma presets exclusively for video recording are available in Creative Video mode - "CINELIKE D" and "CINELIKE V" for rich video expression like a cinema.
The 3.5mm microphone jack is for high quality audio recording using an external microphone such as Panasonic External Stereo/Shotgun Microphone DMW-MS2.
In addition, the LUMIX G85 also enables 4K Live Cropping in video recording that realizes stable panning or zooming in video recording. In panning shots, the user can simply set the viewing angle to start and end with to get smooth panning without using any special equipment like a slider. In zooming, you can set the after-zoomed viewing angle first, so that the subject is perfectly framed. Thanks to the digital operation, the zooming imagery is smooth because it does not physically move the zoom lens.
