Canon Expands Professional 4K/UHD Display Lineup With Announcement Of 24-Inch High-Luminance HDR Model And Industry-First 17-Inch 3840 X 2160 Model
MELVILLE, N.Y., Sept. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, announced today two new professional 4K/UHD displays in response to the needs of content-creators - the DP-V2420 professional 4K reference display, a 24-inch high-luminance model ideal for High Dynamic Range (HDR(1)) footage and the DP-V1710 professional 4K reference display, an industry-first(2) 17-inch, 3840 x 2160 display ideal for use on set, in broadcasting vans, and in studios. Both displays feature a Canon-developed image-processing engine, proprietary backlight system and an IPS LCD panel, that when combined deliver excellent color reproduction and high-resolution, high-contrast imaging performance.
DP-V2420
The Canon DP-V2420 professional 24-inch 4K reference display supports HDR standards and display methods(3) increasingly used for next-generation video production, and provides high luminance and black luminance performance essential for screening HDR content. Canon's DP-V2420 display qualifies as a Dolby Vision mastering monitor and complies with the ITU-R BT.2100-0 HDR standard which specifies a peak luminance 1000 cd/m2 and a minimum luminance 0.005 cd/m2. Allowing for the review and confirmation of high-quality 4K images, the display's expanded dynamic range greatly increases color expression and the contrast between the light and dark areas of an image to achieve luminance expression close to that of the naked eye while also supporting the expression of natural colors and a sense of three-dimensionality.
DP-V1710
The DP-V1710 4K/UHD is the industry's first 17-inch 3840 x 2160 resolution professional-model display, which can be used with the 19-inch rack mounts that are commonplace in broadcast studio sub control rooms and broadcasting vans. The DP-V1710 is ready to deliver stunning HD, UHD, and 4K imagery in mobile production vehicles. In addition to providing high-image-quality UHD resolution, the display features a compact body size that makes it ideal for use on-set, carrying during on-location shooting or for use in broadcasting vans with limited space. Additionally, supporting HDR standards and display methods,(3) the DP-V1710 delivers a level of black luminance performance demanded for broadcasting, supporting a wide range of users who create Full HD, 4K/UHD, and HDR content.
The DP-V2420 and DP-V1710 displays are scheduled to be available in November 2016 and February 2017 for list prices of $32,900.00 and $13,500.00, respectively*. For additional information please visit, usa.canon.com

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Basis Technology today announced that AFAQ, an innovator in electronic medical records (EMR), is integrating Rosette® name translation into its applications to translate patient names between Arabic and English. The Jordan-based company produces a suite of enterprise apps that allow healthcare facilities to centrally manage medical record content, customer relationship management (CRM), billing, and human resources. Compliance with European and U.S. EMR standards is a requirement for most hospitals in the Middle East, so AFAQ developers needed an efficient and accurate way to work with names across multiple languages.
Founder and Development Manager Mohammad Khair Abul Ruzz said, "We started with manually mapping just Jordanian names between Arabic and English. That took five people 500 hours, and the results were still incomplete. We considered open source options but they could not be integrated easily into our system. We tried Google Translate but it translated many Arabic names as common nouns. We found Rosette had the most powerful profile for translating and indexing names and integrated easily into our solution, saving us a lot of human labor."
Rosette had other advantages, according to Abul Ruzz. He found the hardware requirements to be modest, requiring relatively little memory and processing power. He also liked that Rosette can translate names originating in Chinese, Dari, Farsi, Japanese, Korean, Pashto, Russian and Urdu, regardless of the alphabet used.
Basis Technology Vice President for Product Management, Gregor Stewart, said, "We are very pleased to be working with AFAQ to develop new ways for their customers to ensure accurate medical recordkeeping, while working in languages with which they are most comfortable."
Rosette delivers multilingual text analytics through a robust SDK or web API for processing content, documents, and names in 55 languages.

Turtle Beach Launches All-New FDA Cleared Tinnitus Add-On Feature For HyperSound Clear 500P
Company's Revolutionary HyperSound Clear 500P Directed Audio System Now Offers an Add-on Relief Feature for Tinnitus Sufferers While Improving the Home Entertainment Listening Experience for People with Hearing Loss
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Earlier this year Turtle Beach Corporation (NASDAQ: HEAR), a leading audio technology company for over 40 years, announced research regarding the use of its revolutionary HyperSound(®) Technology directed audio to alleviate Tinnitus. Today, Turtle Beach is excited and proud to announce the company has received FDA clearance on an all-new Tinnitus relief feature for its revolutionary HyperSound Clear(TM) 500P home audio system. The new Tinnitus add-on works in addition to the HyperSound Clear 500P's already proven ability to significantly(1) improve the home entertainment listening experience for people with hearing loss.
Looking beyond hearing loss, Tinnitus is another serious and widespread hearing health problem. Commonly known as "ringing in the ears," Tinnitus is the perception of sound when no actual external noise is present, and there is currently no cure for most types of Tinnitus. Additionally, the American Tinnitus Association(2) states, "Millions of Americans experience Tinnitus, often to a debilitating degree, making it one of the most common health conditions in the country. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control estimates that 15% of the general public - over 50 million Americans - experience some form of Tinnitus, with approximately 20 million struggling with chronic Tinnitus, and two million living with extreme and debilitating cases."
"We're committed to advancing the clinical capabilities for how HyperSound Technology can help individuals with hearing issues," said Rodney Schutt, SVP and General Manager for the HyperSound business at Turtle Beach Corporation. "HyperSound is still in its infancy as the HyperSound Clear 500P has been out less than a year, and in that time we've addressed two prominent hearing healthcare issues. First, we've re-created a comfortable home entertainment environment where people with hearing loss and their family and friends can return to the TV room and enjoy the latest entertainment together, and now we may be able to provide relief for people suffering from Tinnitus. These are groundbreaking, all-new solutions for managing these two specific hearing issues that affect millions of people around the world, and we plan to continue to research and test other areas where HyperSound Technology may have the potential to be a hearing healthcare solution or provide exceptional improvements in the home entertainment environment."
Added Dr. Ritvik Mehta, Founder and Medical Director of the California Hearing & Balance Center, "As a hearing healthcare professional, I'm very excited to be part of another significant breakthrough in hearing healthcare, driven by Turtle Beach's HyperSound Technology and backed with our research. Our clinical study included 11 adult patients living with chronic Tinnitus, and initial results demonstrate impressive reductions in Tinnitus loudness and annoyance, when sitting in the HyperSound Clear 500P's directed audio beam using the Tinnitus add-on."
While there's no cure for Tinnitus, one of the current treatment methods is to wear headphones, earbuds or a hearing aid that delivers sounds to cancel-out the perceived "ringing in the ears." Unfortunately, while an effective solution, wearing any of these devices is often uncomfortable, especially over long periods of time and at night when trying to sleep. The new Tinnitus add-on for Turtle Beach's HyperSound Clear 500P comes pre-programmed with nine soothing sounds, including steam, rain, wind, fan, shower, forest, waves, white and brown noises from which users can choose, and when pointed at a person with Tinnitus, may relieve the "ringing in the ears" sound. The key difference with the HyperSound Clear 500P is that now people have the freedom to sit in their favorite spot in the house, or sleep comfortably in their bed without wearing any device on their head. This has the potential to improve the quality of life for somebody living with chronic Tinnitus.
HyperSound Technology is a fundamentally new approach to sound delivery that generates a directional, narrow beam of audio in the air that can be pointed to a very specific location. Similar to how a flashlight directs a beam of light, the HyperSound Clear 500P directs a beam of audio to targeted listeners, delivering an immersive, 3D audio experience, which helps people hear and understand the television more clearly.
To learn more about Turtle Beach's HyperSound Technology, the HyperSound Clear 500P and the new Tinnitus add-on feature, please visit the official website at http://hypersoundhearing.com. Dr. Mehta and Dr. Mattson are paid consultants of Turtle Beach.

Wacom is making the future of paper notebooks: the new Bamboo Slate and Bamboo Folio smartpads
Paper notebooks are often the last analog link within an otherwise fully digital life. With two smartpads and a range of new features in Wacom Inkspace, Wacom now offers a smooth and intuitive digital notetaking experience - seamlessly bridging the gap between paper notes and the digital workflow.
BERLIN, Sept. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today at IFA 2016, Wacom introduces the Bamboo Slate and Bamboo Folio smartpads. Two attractive and functional designs, two different paper sizes, and the new features of the Wacom Inkspace app and cloud services, including vector output and handwriting to text, offer users a range of choices to bring ideas from paper to the cloud and into the digital workflow - at home, at school and at work.
"Paper notebooks still play an essential role at the beginning of the idea process," said Mike Gay, Senior Vice President for Wacom's Consumer Business Unit. "They are often the last analog step within an otherwise fully digital lifestyle. So our goal was simple: add the benefits of digital technology to the paper notebook and create an intuitive tool to help make ideas, no matter where and how they start."
Making the future of paper notebooks
Bamboo Folio and Bamboo Slate seamlessly bridge the gap between paper notes and the digital life with smartphones, cloud services and PCs. The smartpads are based on Wacom's EMR (Electro Magnetic Resonance) pen technology and make use of WILL(TM), Wacom's digital ink. This allows users to start their ideas with a pen on their favorite paper and with a simple push of a button turn their handwritten notes or sketches into digital files and save them in the Wacom Inkspace app.
"The challenge of paper is that it's final and difficult to share," explains Mike Gay. "But in Wacom's Inkspace, those handwritten notes are now living digitally, so users can edit their handwriting to shape their ideas and share them." The Wacom Inkspace app works on any Bluetooth enabled iOS or Android(TM) smartphone and tablet and offers all the advantages of working digitally, including easy editing, organizing and sharing. Features like the real time mode, the undo and redo option, as well as the pressure sensitivity make it intuitive and efficient.
When connected to the cloud, Inkspace offers even more benefits with a paid subscription. Users can now export their sketches as vector (.SVG) files, making them available for editing in creative software. The handwriting to text feature now supports rich text, which means bullet points and paragraphs are captured in the text. Inkspace offers a free and a paid subscription model.
#makingthefuture
To showcase the advantages of digital notetaking and to highlight the full potential of ink-based collaboration in the cloud, Wacom invites visitors at the IFA booth and followers on social media to start #makingthefuture and share their ideas about what they think the world should look like in the future. Topics range from the future of communication to new expressions in art. A sketch note artist will combine the input into a cohesive piece of digital art. These ideas will be captured and shared in an upcoming ebook.
Innovative design for individual workflows
Bamboo Slate and Bamboo Folio are designed to meet individual demands and support different uses ranging from notetaking and light sketching to mind mapping and visual thinking. The extended line-up of smartpads includes three different versions:
-- Bamboo Slate is a slim smartpad to quickly capture ideas. It comes in a
small (A5 / half letter) and large (A4/ letter) format.
-- Bamboo Folio features an integrated cover with extra slots for business
cards and other documents. It is designed to keep notes safe and ideas
organized and comes in a large (A4 / letter) format.
Inkspace brings the promise of digital stationery to life
Bamboo Slate and Bamboo Folio connect to the new Wacom Inkspace app, which keeps all digital notes safely stored. Here they can easily be edited and shared. The app exports notes as JPG, PNG, PDF or WILL(TM) file formats and makes them available for Bamboo Paper, Inkspace, Dropbox, Evernote and OneNote. The Inkspace app is based on WILL(TM) universal ink and can be connected to the Inkspace cloud service, which offers subscriptions to a range of features for a tailor-made suite of digital solutions.
The free Inkspace Basic subscription only requires a sign up to the free Wacom ID. It provides safe storage of 5GB in the cloud and allows easy sharing across different devices including smartphones, tablets and computers to access ideas anytime from everywhere. The advanced Inkspace Plus subscription available on the Wacom Marketplace unlocks even more features for a professional workflow. It converts handwriting to rich text, includes vector export in SVG and searches handwritten notes for further editing, quick recall and increased productivity. It offers 50 GB storage, professional sharing in teams and allows real-time collaboration in editable digital ink files. Owners of the Bamboo Folio and Bamboo Slate get a 3-month free subscription to Inkspace Plus after which they gain access to the service at a discount.
Pricing and availability
The three versions of the new Bamboo Slate and Bamboo Folio will be available for purchase online at the Wacom Estore and select retail outlets.
The Wacom Inkspace app for iOS and Android is free for download in the respective app stores. The subscription to Inkspace Basic cloud service is free, but requires a free Wacom ID. The advanced Inkspace Plus subscription is available on the Wacom Marketplace for three months for free, then for only $2.99 per month (instead of $4.99).

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Sony Electronics announced the MDR-1000X premium wireless headphones with industry leading noise cancellation performance, offering the most responsive cancellation of ambient sound frequency range on the market.(1)
"The MDR-1000X are not just Sony's best-ever noise-cancelling headphones," said Dunja LaRosa, Director, and Head of Mobile Audio at Sony Electronics. "They are also great looking, and most importantly, fantastic sounding headphones worthy of the Sony name and tradition."
Sony's Best Noise Cancelling
The MDR-1000X is the new flagship of Sony's noise cancelling headphones lineup. A number of advancements have been put into these headphones to make them industry-leading, such as the signal processing to pursue the best noise cancelling performance with upgraded filtering process, optimized dual noise sensor technology, and newly developed ear pads. Thanks to these advancements, MDR-1000X provides a secure noise isolation and listeners can immerse themselves in the music without any distractions or simply enjoy the silence. In addition, a personal NC optimizer tailors the noise cancelling performance for the individual ears. The headphones analyze the shape of their head and their wearing style (such as hairstyle and wearing glasses or not), providing a customized noise-cancelling experience. This personalized listening experience is realized by the newly developed SENSE ENGINE((TM)2)(.)
Premium Sound Quality
To assure the highest quality listening experience, the MDR-1000X supports Hi-Res Audio playback with a wired connection so listeners can hear every detail, just as the artist intended. Sony's S-Master HX(TM) audio amplifier also supports Hi-Res to maintain the purity of the original signals for highly faithful sound reproduction. And for the best possible wireless performance, Sony's exclusive LDAC(TM) technology delivers audio at three times higher quality than conventional Bluetooth streaming. When listening to compressed digital music (MP3, ACC, ATRAC, and WMA) the MDR-1000X are Sony's first headphones with the DSEE HX(TM) built-in to upscale compressed music from any source to near Hi-Res Audio sound quality, even in wireless mode.
Hassle-Free Travel
"Quick Attention" mode assures listeners will not miss a word that is spoken while enjoying music or a movie. Instantly activated by placing a hand on the side of the headphone shell, it allows natural sound to come through. Now travelers no longer have to remove their headphones to hear announcements or the flight attendant asking for their drink order. "Ambient Sound Mode" changes the sound settings so that consumers hear the ambient sounds around them, enabling them to be aware of announcements or discussions with colleagues, while still enjoying their music. These unique listening experiences are also realized by SENSE ENGINE.
An up to 20-hour battery life(3) in wireless mode with noise cancelling on enables travelers to use these headphones during flights to far-flung destinations on a single charge. Designed with the style conscious traveler in mind, they look as good as they feel. With a swivel and folding design, they can quickly be stowed away in a carry-on bag ready to jet off to the next destination.

Designed to complement each other as a "Signature Series", together the headphones, Walkman® and amplifier bring the ultimate sound quality to listeners' ears. Taking an unconventional approach to design, Sony brought together the highest quality materials and structures for reproducing the best possible sound. The organic shapes visible in every detail reflect a design based on the laws of physics for creating superior audio quality. All materials have been selected based on the principals of acoustic design.
"This series of audio products faithfully conveys the heart and soul that artists pour into their music, from the sublime resonance of an orchestra to the overflowing passion of a live concert," said Dunja LaRosa, Director, and Head of Mobile Audio at Sony Electronics. "Together, the Signature Series devices push sound to an entirely new level - taking the headphone experience from 'listening' to 'feeling.'"
Headphones Developed in a Mastering Studio
The Signature Series features the new premier MDR-Z1R headphones optimized for hi-res personal listening enjoyment. The headphones utilize a 70mm, magnesium dome HD driver for the widest frequency response (up to 120kHZ) possible; along with a lightweight aluminum coated LCP edge diaphragm, and a powerful neodymium magnet, ensuring greater velocity, less signal loss and more natural sound.
Spatial resonance is minimized thanks to the Z1R's resonance-free housing in which an acoustic resister is used to optimally control ventilation. The headband is constructed from lightweight, flexible beta titanium for more elasticity. Both the headband and ergonomically correct ear pads are covered in genuine leather for added comfort. The balanced cable uses the new industry 4.4mm plug and the ear cup connection jack utilizes a non-magnetic plated Corson alloy jack for low resistance.
Most significantly, the MDR-Z1R was developed in collaboration with one of the top mastering engineers at Sony Music Battery Studios, who benchmarked its overall performance in comparison with his super high-end reference speakers.
Not Just a Player but an Instrument
A highlight of the Signature Series is the new flagship NW-WM1Z Walkman®, which features an entirely new, gold-plated, oxygen-free, copper chassis to help reduce contact resistance and oxidation while minimizing magnetic interference. It incorporates a dual clock circuit with low phase noise quartz oscillator, which achieves superior sound reproduction at virtually any volume setting. To further reduce noise, both the WM1Z and WM1A utilize separate analog and digital circuitry as well.
Both models also support virtually every popular Hi-Res music format, including 384kHz/32bit recording and Quad (11.2MHz) DSD native playback if used with a balanced connection and a compatible listening device, such as the Z1R headphones. Additionally, they feature selectable multimode DSEE-HX(TM) signal processing with five settings: Standard, Female Vocal, Male Vocal, Percussion, or Strings, to carefully upscale lower bit rate files to near High Resolution Audio quality. High output S-Master HX(TM) technology and a power supply that uses newly developed FT CAP high polymer capacitors to improve bass response.
To further enhance the user experience, the WM1 Series includes a new touch panel UI design with more intuitive operation and elegantly recessed side panel controls. Plus, the WM1Z provides refinements that one expects only from Sony, including being the first music player using cable engineered with Kimber Kable®.
The Elevated Standard in Headphone Amplifiers
Finally, the Signature Series marks the introduction of the TA-ZH1ES, the first headphone amplifier to carry the coveted ES brand. It features a new D.A. Hybrid Amplifier Circuit, which utilizes the combination of Sony's full digital amplifier S-Master HX(TM) together with an analog amplifier circuit, preserving fine detail sound of S-Master HX(TM) and low distortion sound with the support of an analog amplifier circuit.
Additionally, the new ZH1ES supports the vast majority of Hi-Res music formats, including the highest resolution native DSD and PCM recordings. For preserving the feeling of original sound, ZH1ES has new DSEE HX(TM), which has selectable multimode for up sampling lower resolution music and DSD Remastering Engine which converts PCM sources to DSD 11.2MHz
The newly developed Frame/Beam/Wall (FBW) chassis combines Wall structure with the familiar FB chassis that has been cultivated in the ES series. The Wall is created by shaving extruded aluminum and realizes a ridged body that can suppress unnecessary vibration. Also, the Acoustically Tuned Panel achieves the ideal sound while controlling vibration and resonance. It also supports a wide variety of headphone connectors, including both balanced and unbalanced designs without any compromise.
Pricing and Availability
The new NW-WM1Z Walkman®, MDR-Z1R headphones and TA-ZH1ES Headphone Amplifier will be available this November, while the NW-WM1A Walkman® will be available early next year. All four models will be available via a select group of Sony authorized dealers.
The MDR-Z1R Signature Series headphones MSRP is $2,299.99
The NW-WM1Z Signature Series Walkman® MSRP is $3,199.99
The NW-WM1A Signature Series Walkman® MSRP is $1,199.99
The TA-ZH1ES Signature Series headphone amplifier MSRP is $2,199.99

Libratone Introduces Q Adapt In-Ear Earbuds, Eliminates the Need for Bulky Batteries by Utilizing Apple's Lightning Connector
With four noise-cancellation settings and a more comfortable, natural fit in a listener's ear, the Q Adapt isolates superb sound for flexible living at home and on the go.
SANTA CLARA, Calif., and COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Sept. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Libratone introduced Q Adapt In-Ear earbuds, featuring a battery-free design, with active noise cancellation, exclusively for Apple's Lightning connector port. With four levels of noise cancellation, users can select how much of the outside world they want to let into their listening experience, whether it's none at all when stuck on a bustling commuter train, or just enough to remain safe and aware of surroundings while jogging on a busy street.
Created in Copenhagen by leading acoustic and product engineers, the Q Adapt In-Ear earbuds reflect the same principles as Libratone's award-winning line of wireless speakers--stylish design, superior acoustic performance and adaptability. The inspired engineering and design of the Q Adapt In-Ear, with four levels of noise cancellation, allow it to function in countless situations for the on-the-go listener. Users can personalize their soundspace and ensure safer listening, no matter the environment, making it just as easy to reduce as to let in ambient, outside noise. The Q Adapt In-Ear earbuds draw power from Apple's Lightning connector, allowing for its sleek, lightweight, simple design, without the need for a clunky battery pack.
"Just as Libratone's family of speakers have liberated listeners to take their music wherever they choose, Q Adapt, as its name implies, also adapts to how consumers want an even greater level of flexibility that compromises neither style nor sound quality," said Libratone CEO Jan McNair. "Q Adapt continues to broaden our focus, beyond redefining speakers, to meet the needs of today's elastic lifestyle."
Q Adapt In-Ear features a lean, stylish design because it uses the Apple Lightning connector port on an iPhone or iPad as a power source. Libratone eliminates the need for listeners to worry about charging or having to replace batteries in their noise-cancelling earbuds, and anyone on-the-go will never have to hassle with pulling out their iPhone to adjust the volume or noise cancellation settings, change a song, or to even take a call. The dedicated four-button Combox provides one button for volume up; one for volume down; one to toggle between play/pause, skip/back, take/end call, and Siri; and one for the four active noise cancellation settings and talk-through. The earbuds come in four colors - elegant nude, cloudy white, stormy black and rose pink - and feature a soft, fabric-covered cable. They also are equipped with three sizes of interchangeable, uniquely designed, ultra-comfortable rubber earpieces. Fitting more naturally into the ear than plunger-style earbuds or ear-hook designs, these ergonomic earpieces offer maximum acoustic and noise-cancelling performance.
"Music has become so personal," said Libratone President Mike Culver, "and the ability to take it along for the ride, and to safely enjoy it no matter the setting or activity, without the hassles of recharging or dealing with an awkward control, makes the Q Adapt In-Ear the ideal flexible-living music accessory."
The Q Adapt In-Ear earbuds will be available in mid-September for $179 at libratone.com and will ship to customers at the beginning of October.
In early October, Libratone will introduce Q Adapt On-Ear Bluetooth headphones, which like the earbuds, feature four settings of active noise cancellation.

Alcatel Expands Mobile Virtual Reality Ecosystem with Exciting New Products and Partnerships
- VISION: A stylish wireless all-in-one virtual reality device offering a superb immersive experience in comfort and style
- Alcatel 360 Camera: A compact pocket-friendly, lightweight plug and play 360-degree camera allowing users to instantly create, share and enjoy 360° photos and video on their IDOL 4, IDOL 4S and POP 4S smartphones
- 360-degree Partnerships: Four of the world's most innovative 360-degree camera makers team up with Alcatel, widening its range of VR tools
BERLIN, Sept. 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Alcatel, a mobile device brand of TCL Communication, today announced the launch of two new products, VISION and Alcatel 360, making it the first global smartphone brand to offer its users an all-in-one virtual reality (VR) experience.
At the same time, Alcatel announced new partnerships with four of the world's most innovative 360-degree camera makers at the IFA 2016 in Berlin.
VISION is the world's first all-in-one mobile home entertainment virtual reality device to be offered with entry-level pricing that is readily affordable. It can be worn comfortably for 2-3 hours, with or without glasses, allowing plenty of time for a child to take a VR tour of a museum or for watching a movie.
Anyone from a music lover to a hardcore gamer can enjoy VISION's superb VR entertainment capability. Alcatel partnered with Jaunt VR, Magic Interactive Entertainment and Fraunhofer, which will provide preloaded content and hardware to enable VISION users to immediately benefit from its enhanced capability and so get a better experience.
Jaunt VR brings cinematic VR that gives users an exclusive, immersive 360-degree stereo video experience. For those who enjoy VR games, VISION includes Magic Interactive Entertainment's BattleBlock, a frisbee combat game designed for VR that supports a person-to-person mode. Fraunhofer offers an immersive audio solution to support VR, one that adapts real-time sound to correspondent perfectly with what's being seen while looking around.
The Alcatel 360 Camera, meanwhile, is an easy-to-use 360-degree camera that's available in two models, both with a dual 210-degree fisheye lens: a rectangular model, about half the size of a credit card, and a ball-shaped one, about the size of a coin. The compact, lightweight, plug and play Alcatel 360 allows users to capture then preview and share on the smartphones instantly.
The four new partnerships are with 360-degree camera makers 360fly, ALLie Camera, Arashi Vision (Insta 360 4K) and Primesom (Nico360). These camera makers provide more interesting and diverse features for our consumers, such as shockproof outdoor, always-on indoor and even enterprise-grade.
Commitment to Mobile VR
With its smartphone IDOL 4S, introduced earlier this year, Alcatel was the first mobile phone brand to put VR in-the-box and ship a smartphone with VR goggles.
The new VR products and partnerships demonstrate Alcatel's commitment to mobile VR and the 360-degree camera industry - and to bringing its customers the latest technology at affordable prices.
"VR is the next big computing platform and will reshape the way we experience the world," said Nicolas Zibell, General Manager of International Business and President of TCL Communication. "That's why we're jumping in feet first. Our new mobile VR device and 360-degree camera are for those who believe that technology can change the world - and they want to be part of that change."
VISION: Freedom to Move
VISION is an all-in-one wireless mobile device that allows to enjoy an IMAX-format movie experience in their own home.
VISION is not tethered to a smartphone or computer, so users can move naturally while exploring VR environments. It charges quickly too, so there are no interruptions. With its streamlined, ergonomic design, VISION is easy to put on and comfortable to wear. VISION offers seamless immersion in virtual worlds thanks to a wide, 120-degree field of vision - the widest in its class.
It also integrates the lowest latency available, 17 milliseconds. Low latency is crucial to maintaining the illusion of being in a virtual world (and to keeping dizziness at bay). Offered in two color options, VISION also adjusts for myopia, eliminating the need for glasses or contact lenses when using the device.
Alcatel 360 Camera: Just Plug & Play to Create & Share
With an Alcatel 360 camera, everyone can be a VR filmmaker, creating original content to watch on VISION and other Alcatel VR products.
Alcatel 360 camera is pocket friendly, easy to carry and available in two models. The rectangular model is more compact, offering a thinner form factor, and the ball-shaped design maximizes 360° shooting and imitates film making design language.
Equipped with dual 210-degree fisheye lenses Alcatel 360 camera can be simply plugged into the micro USB port of any IDOL 4, IDOL 4S or POP 4S phone.
Budding filmmakers can then create VR videos or 360° photos in just a few simple steps. Group selfies are also easy to take with the super wide-angle lens.
360-degree Camera Partnerships
By partnering with 360fly, ALLie Camera, Arashi Vision and Primesom, all makers of 360-degree cameras that can be used with a smartphone, Alcatel is further embracing the 360-degree camera industry.
With these partnerships, Alcatel wants to ensure that it will be easy for consumers to create, share and enjoy VR content. Alcatel and its partners will cooperate on joint communications, marketing and promotional activities. The products of Alcatel's partners will be available for tryout at the Alcatel IFA booths. The available cameras include: 360fly 4K, 360fly HD, ALLie Camera, Insta360 4K and Nico360.
"We are excited to partner with a leading and innovative mobile industry brand like Alcatel. They are taking a huge step ahead of the market by integrating 360-degree and VR content into their devices," said Dmitry Kozko, President of ALLie Camera. "We look forward to working with them to bring the best possible 360-degree and VR experiences to consumers across the globe and are honored to be the only partner to deliver users a true 360-degree experience with live streaming and 24/7 viewing and recording so they never miss a thing."
"As we continue to uphold our position as the definitive innovator and leader in the 360 camera space; 360fly is excited about the prospects of collectively growing this vertical through this strategic association with Alcatel," said Peter Adderton, CEO of 360fly. "There is incredible upside potential in this sector and we are optimistic that we will accomplish great things through our collective efforts."
Jingkang Liu, CEO of Arashi Vision, maker of Insta360 cameras, commented: "We believe we're entering a new era where people want to share and relive immersive experiences. We produce 360-degree VR technology to make it easy for people to do that. And in partnering with Alcatel, we think it is huge step to make that goal more accessible."
A Vision for the Future
With VISION, Alcatel 360 and its technology partnerships, Alcatel is staying true to its own vision of making the latest technology accessible to a wide range of consumers. "With dedicated research and design resources, Alcatel has made a long-term commitment to VR," said Zibell. "We're excited to be a world leader in the field."

Nautilus Hyosung America Expands Partnership with New York's Flushing Bank
Flushing Bank incorporates state-of-the-art ATMs with cash recycling capabilities and electronic funds transfer processing
IRVING, Texas, Aug. 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Nautilus Hyosung America (Hyosung), the largest and fastest growing ATM provider in the United States, has expanded its partnership with New York's Flushing Bank as the company continues its innovative approach to banking.
"We've been able to improve the efficiency and service delivery of our new branch openings, in part by utilizing Hyosung's customized technology," said John R. Buran, president and CEO, Flushing Bank. "We've seen tremendous acceptance and interest in the branch model we've developed and look forward to expanding this to our other branch locations."
The Bank opened two new branches recently utilizing Hyosung's MX8800 automated technology, which enables customers to perform routine banking transactions on their own or with the assistance of a branch associate. The Bank customized the MX8800 to perform virtually all of the same transactions that can be processed with a traditional teller, including cashing checks to the nearest dollar, four denominations of bill selection and depositing checks with cash back.
"Providing an assisted service solution to handle routine transactions allows our highly skilled employees to spend quality time with our customers to understand their banking needs and financial concerns," said Buran.
The Bank has begun to adapt its existing branches to this model and has plans for implementation in its new branches as well. Hyosung's MX8800, designed for assisted-service or full-service independent interaction, lets users interact as though they are being serviced directly at the teller window. Additionally, the new smart ATMs offer industry-leading cash recycling functionality and electronic funds transfer (EFT) processing.
"We're proud to be implementing the next generation of banking technology alongside our partners at Flushing Bank," said Nancy Daniels, chief operating officer, Hyosung. "The solutions we're deploying today have allowed our customers to rewrite the way they manage their people, process and technology."

4K 24p (aspect ratio of
17:9). Wide angle 24mm is
the widest in the industry

The file format can be selected from versatile and easy-to-use MOV (QuickTime), MP4 and AVCHD. The variety of recording modes with selectable image quality, frame rate and bit rate settings respond to a wide range of applications from cinema production to online distribution.
Functions and Design to Support Professional Camera Work
The lens barrel features Triple Manual Rings for zoom, focus and iris operations. There are a total of 13 user buttons, nine on the body and four on the LCD touch panel. These user buttons can be allocated with desired functions. The 3.5-type (inch) monitor built into the handle section can be pulled out and turned 270 degrees in the vertical direction for high-angle, low-angle and selfie shooting. The EVF is a high-resolution (approx. 1,769,000 dots) color OLED display with superb color reproduction. What's more, the HC-X1 is equipped with a wealth of focus assist functions to support quick and accurate manual focusing, such as MF Assist, One-Push AF, Expand/Peak, Focus Transition and Area Function.
The ND filter can be set to OFF, 1/4, 1/16 or 1/64. Gain selector and AWB selector are also provided. The controls are designed and engineered to meet the needs of video professionals.
Advanced Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.)
The correction area was expanded to approximately 900%* of the conventional area to strongly correct low- and high-angle shots (compared with Panasonic's AG-AC160). In FHD mode, a 5-Axis HYBRID O.I.S. + that adds electronic image stabilization to optical image stabilization detects and corrects 5 axes, including the roll rotation.
* Except 4K 24p
mode.
High-speed, High-precision Intelligent AF
The Micro Drive Focus Unit has achieved stable and high-speed AF with excellent tracking performance to ensure accurate focusing, which is extremely important in 4K shooting. The AF operation settings are customizable. By adjusting the speed, tracking sensitivity and area width, the user can program the AF operation exactly as intended in accordance with the subject type and application.
Super Slow Motion and VFR (2 to 60 fps)
The Super Slow Motion function records HD images at a high speed of 120 fps (59.94 Hz)/100 fps (50 Hz) to provide a slow-motion effect. The HC-X1 is also newly equipped with a VFR (variable frame rate) recording function that allows the change of frame rate setting in ten steps from 2 to 60 fps. This lets the user produce creative and expressive videos using techniques such as overcranking for a slow-motion effect and undercranking for a quick-motion effect.
Professional Interfaces for Smooth System Operation
The HC-X1 is equipped with two channel XLR audio inputs with switchable +48V phantom power supply/MIC/LINE and manual volume. It records high-quality sound in two channels using either a 16-bit linear PCM system (MOV/MP4) or Dolby Digital system (AVCHD). The HC-X1 also offers expandability for users in commercial video production, such as the wired remote terminal, OSD level meter, 1-kHz test tone output and headphone output (3.5-mm-diameter stereo mini jack).

NextFlex Welcomes Dignitaries To Silicon Valley For Grand Opening Of Manufacturing Innovation Institute Focused On Flexible Hybrid Electronics
Boeing, DuPont, GE, Jabil, NASA, PARC, Cal Poly, Purdue and Dozens of Other NextFlex Members Demonstrate Latest Advances in FHE Development and Commercialization
Dr. Malcolm Thompson, executive director of NextFlex, commented, "It's a great honor, and very gratifying, to be able to welcome these respected leaders from government and industry to help us celebrate the opening of our Institute. In just a year since NextFlex was announced, we have signed on 46 members, issued two project calls totaling more than $45 million with 60% cost shared by members and funding from various states. And, equally exciting, is that our flexible hybrid electronics headquarters facility and pilot manufacturing line is open. The collaborative work of NextFlex and our members at this facility will allow companies in Silicon Valley and throughout the U.S. to leap-frog the barriers of cost and integration, and create a viable ecosystem that will enable a new era."
Known for its start-up mentality and agile business model, NextFlex serves as a catalyst for collaboration and innovation among a collection of companies, academic and nonprofit institutions and government organizations from across the U.S., all focused on creating a robust FHE manufacturing infrastructure. NextFlex's 34,000 square foot facility located in the heart of Silicon Valley will feature a state-of-the-art class 10,000 pilot manufacturing line in addition to laboratory space--all dedicated to the production of this burgeoning technology.
At today's grand opening, approximately 40 companies such as Acellent, American Semiconductor, Boeing, Brewer Science, DuPont, E Ink, GE Global Research, HP Enterprise, i3 Electronics, Jabil, NASA, PARC, Uniqarta together with academia like Berkeley, Binghamton, Cal Poly, Purdue, Univ. of Mass. (Amherst and Lowell), UofA, will showcase their advancements in bringing this exciting technology to fruition.
Background:
Once in full production, FHE will usher in a new era of "electronics on everything." Intelligence will be taken out of the "boxes" or packages associated with traditional electronics like PCs, smartphones and tablets, and transplanted directly on to a variety of surfaces including the human body, enabling an entirely new breed of defense and commercial applications we haven't imagined. But to develop these enabling FHEs, new manufacturing solutions are required and they come with significant integration challenges. Working alone, it would take years, perhaps decades, and unprecedented amounts of capital for a company to create the infrastructure to support mass production of FHEs. NextFlex, along with its members, are working to rapidly uncover and solve the complex manufacturing issues associated with production of flexible hybrid electronics, and ultimately create a manufacturing infrastructure that can efficiently be spun out to private industry.
NextFlex's new facility is located at: 2244 Blach Place #150, San Jose, Calif., 95131. Information and photographs from today's event are available by contacting Meagan Hardcastle, MCA, 559.283.2510 or via email at mhardcastle@mcapr.com. Follow @NextFlexUS on Twitter for the latest updates of today's events.

Partnering for Success
Thermos L.L.C. teamed up with several industry leaders to bring this product to market. The new hydration bottle seamlessly connects with the Fitbit(®) platform, so consumers can easily and automatically log their hydration alongside their fitness and health goals. By connecting a Fitbit account with the Thermos Smart Lid app, users' profile information links for easy set up, and then they instantly see hydration stats sync each time a bottle of water is finished.
"At Fitbit, we are committed to making sure that people of all fitness levels remain active, healthy and hydrated, whether they are at work or exercising," said Tim Rosa, vice president of global marketing at Fitbit. "By partnering with Genuine Thermos Brand to integrate the Fitbit app with the Connected Hydration Bottle, we are making it easier for users to get a clear picture of their water intake as they work to live a healthier lifestyle."
For the bottle's app development and technological design, Thermos collaborated with iDevices(®), a preeminent company in the Internet of Things (IoT), to create the Thermos Smart Lid app and the electronic components that sit within the lid and sensor tube that aid in the connectivity to the app. The brand also partnered with EXOS(TM), a leader in performance training, nutrition and physical therapy, to develop the hydration calculator located within the Thermos Smart Lid app. The hydration calculator allows each user to create a personalized, suggested daily hydration goal.

The DxO ONE award winning camera takes it one step further with two new state-of-the-art features
Wi-Fi Remote Control and Outdoor Shell dramatically extend the fields of use of the DxO ONE camera
PARIS and SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Camera manufacturer DxO announces major updates to the DxO ONE Miniaturized DSLR-quality Camera for iPhone(®), including Wi-Fi remote control and a new waterproof Outdoor Shell designed to further extend its fields of use. Upholding their promise to make the camera even better after you've bought it, Wi-Fi Remote Control will be available to all existing users free of charge via a forthcoming 2.0 software update. DxO's accessories ecosystem also introduces an ultra-compact Stand and a snap-on Optical Adapter, enhancing creative possibilities for the DxO ONE which captures pro-quality photos and videos that you can share instantly to Facebook(®), Instagram(®), YouTube(®) and more.
DxO's new Wi-Fi Remote Control implementation is remarkable in that it completely eliminates the cumbersome and altogether frustrating Wi-Fi configuration process that plagues every other Wi-Fi-equipped camera on the market. When attached via DxO's patented Lightning(®) connector, Apple iOS can seamlessly pass its Wi-Fi authentication credentials from the iPhone to the DxO ONE. In-house or in-office, users can take advantage of this unique DxO innovation that lets the camera immediately tap into the Wi-Fi network that your iPhone is already logged onto. And when traveling about, or out in the wilderness, your DxO ONE can just as easily create a direct Wi-Fi connection to your iPhone. By enabling remote connectivity between the DxO ONE camera and your iPhone, photographers are free to explore every conceivable photographic angle, while still having control over every capture setting, and the ability to easily view, edit and share their content to social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
The Outdoor Shell, compatible with all existing DxO ONE cameras, is extremely rugged and yet quick and easy to attach. The shell can be equipped with either of two waterproof back doors, one of which is splash proof (IP67), perfect for sailing or walks in the rain. The other is fully submersible and immersion proof to depths of 45m (150 ft) for scuba diving in a reef or just swimming in your pool. The design features a dual clamping system that snaps securely into place to protect your DxO ONE camera from water, dust and shock, while providing access to power switching and multiple capture modes without having to open the shell. Built to stand up to the elements, the Outdoor Shell is made from durable high end polymers and stainless steel. The shell accepts 30.5mm thread optical add-ons, features a ¼-20 thread for tripod mounting, and can even be attached to popular Action Cam fixtures and harnesses. Available in seven exciting colors including yellow, coral, lime, olive, black, white and lagoon, the waterproof Outdoor Shell is the perfect way to protect and personalize your DxO ONE.
The 2.0 software update also introduces Mobile Smart Lighting, a lighter-weight variant of the famed Smart Lighting feature in DxO OpticsPro, which automatically analyzes each scene and applies an intelligent and customizable global tone map--in this instance, to every photo you take with your DxO ONE. The overall effect is similar to having added a fill light to the picture, which dramatically enhances the dynamic range of your images. The automatic 2.0 update also includes significant enhancements to battery management and power consumption including an on-demand auto-focus mode similar to that of DSLRs, and an innovative underwater white balance that automatically compensates for the blue cast to achieve a more pleasant rendering in your underwater images.
"It seems every few months the team in Paris automatically updates my DxO ONE with cool new features," said celebrated motorsports photographer, John Thawley. "Now, with remote Wi-Fi control I'm totally untethered. Combined with the protective shell, I'm free to place the camera in all sorts of new and discreet scenarios. This means I can capture high resolution images that just weren't possible before... not with any camera!"
An e-store, accessible right from the DxO ONE app, allows you to easily order any of the new accessories including an ultra-compact Stand that uses an ingenious combination of clamps to let you balance your camera on almost any surface or mount it to a tripod. Also accessible via the e-store is a snap-on Optical Adapter that allows standard ND and creative filters, macro lenses, and hoods to be mounted in front of the lens of your DxO ONE camera. And of course, the accessories store also provides one stop access to the waterproof Outdoor Shell that lets you take your DxO ONE miniaturized camera where no DSLR or smartphone can go.
