Philips debuts new cloud-based clinical analytics dashboard to enhance patient care and staff efficiency in critical care
- New clinical decision support dashboard results from collaboration with Ambient Clinical Analytics and research from Mayo Clinic; provides clinicians with smart, actionable information and communication tools
- IntelliSpace Console Critical Care to be showcased during the 2016 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Annual Conference & Exhibition
AMSTERDAM, Feb. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG AEX: PHIA) today announced the launch of IntelliSpace Console Critical Care, a cloud-based clinical decision support dashboard supporting enhanced workflows in the intensive care unit (ICU). Debuting at the 2016 HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas, Nev., IntelliSpace Console is designed to improve critical care with smart clinical decision making, enhanced patient monitoring and tracking of quality metrics.
The easy-to-use dashboard gives clinicians access to patient data across multiple systems and EMRs to help streamline, prioritize and analyze complex patient data quickly. IntelliSpace Console is the result of a multi-year clinical study and a research collaboration with Ambient Clinical Analytics and the Mayo Clinic. It is the latest to join Philips' portfolio of advanced health technology and integrated informatics solutions helping to improve workflow efficiencies and patient outcomes with clinical decision support applications.
In critical care settings where every second counts, clinicians need to make timely care decisions and navigating the vast amounts of clinical data available at the patient bedside can make it difficult for clinicians to analyze so much information at once. IntelliSpace Console addresses this issue comprehensively and transforms patient data from multiple sources, including EMRs, into actionable insights. The smart dashboard provides intensivists, nurses, respiratory therapists and other specialists with the context-relevant clinical information needed to make decisions quickly and efficiently in critical care settings, leading to better care and greater productivity.
"As health systems continue to move toward value-based care while at the same time facing an explosion of patient data, solutions such as IntelliSpace Console help clinicians make sense of increasingly complex patient information in a meaningful way," said Carla Kriwet, CEO, Patient Care and Monitoring Solutions, Philips. "This advanced visualization dashboard enables clinicians to make quick, informed decisions, and ultimately provide enhanced care across the health care continuum."
"The amount of patient data available in the Intensive Care Units is incredible, but it also places a substantial burden on the acting clinician to make quick and effective patient care decisions while making sense of mountains of information," said Vitaly Herasevich, MD, PhD, of Mayo Clinic, one of the co-inventors of the technology. "This new solution is formatted as a real-time dashboard that organizes information the way a clinician processes data in a real-life patient scenario to facilitate decision making. This reduces stress, saves time, supports workflow and enhances the care process while allowing multiple members of a patient's care team to be 'on the same page'."
Adding value to the care process
The transition to efficient patient-centric care is driving an increasing number of business and Health IT challenges - including EMR implementation, interoperability, meaningful use, accountable care and healthcare reform. At this year's HIMSS event in Las Vegas, Philips will be demonstrating how integrated IT solutions like IntelliSpace Console can address these challenges by collecting, combining, analyzing and delivering quality data to help improve patient outcomes, reduce costs and improve quality of care.
IntelliSpace Console's user experience, which is rendered using evidence-based guidelines, provides clinicians with an overview of the patient population in the ICU, including acuity level, details on life support, and other key information to help clinicians make more informed decisions when assessing interventions and developing patient care plans. The dashboard harmonizes the information on each patient to ensure that each member of the care team sees the same, normalized information.
A cloud-based dashboard
IntelliSpace Console is hosted on Philips HealthSuite digital platform, an open, secure cloud-based platform that powers solutions that can collect, compile, store and analyze clinical and other data from multiple devices and sources. The HealthSuite digital platform supports the secure collection of all types of data related to health and lifestyle so patients and caregivers can make more confident health and lifestyle-related decisions with the next generation of connected health and wellness innovations, like IntelliSpace Console.
Mayo Clinic developed IntelliSpace Console under the product name AWARE [1] (Ambient Warning and Response Evaluation) and Philips is partnering with Ambient Clinical Analytics to bring the technology to market in the second half of 2016. Together, with the United States Critical Illness and Injury Trials Group, these organizations received an award from the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) award from CMS to research the impact of using a cloud-based clinical decision support solution with a novel user interface for the ICU.
Mayo Clinic and Dr. Herasevich have a financial interest in the technology referenced in this news release. Revenue Mayo Clinic receives is used to support its not-for-profit mission in patient care, education and research.
IntelliSpace Console is expected to be available to a select number of hospitals later this year. Philips will be showcasing IntelliSpace Console Critical Care technology at booth #3416 at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2016 Annual Meeting and Exhibition, taking place Feb. 29 - March 4, at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas, NV. Mentor Graphics Adds Memory Models to Create Industry's First Complete UVM SystemVerilog Verification IP Library
WILSONVILLE, Ore., Feb. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Mentor Graphics Corporation (NASDAQ: MENT) today announced availability of the first entirely native UVM SystemVerilog memory verification IP library for all commonly used memory devices, configurations, and interfaces. Mentor is adding over 1600 memory models to the Mentor(®) Verification IP (Mentor VIP) library that already supports over 60 commonly used peripheral interfaces and bus architectures. As a result, Mentor becomes the first company to supply ASIC and FPGA SoC designers with a complete UVM SystemVerilog verification IP library that covers the breadth of their peripheral interface, bus protocol and memory device needs. Providing the complete library in one consistent industry-standard format reduces the time it takes for engineers to set up verification runs, so they can focus on verifying unique, high-value parts of their designs.
The new memory library supports a wide spectrum of memory model variations including leading-edge protocols such as the high-bandwidth, low-pin-count HyperBus(TM) interface for HyperRAM(TM) and HyperFlash(TM) memory devices. It also supports a full range of dynamic RAM models including DDR4, Low Power DDR4, Hybrid Memory Cube, High Bandwidth Memory-2, and the new JESD229-2 Wide I/O-2 standard. Finally, it includes a full complement of flash memory models including SDIO 4.1, SDCard 4.2, eMMC 5.1, ONFI 4.0, UFS, and serial, toggle, NAND and NOR flash.
"We're excited about Mentor Graphics' release of its extensive memory verification IP model library, in particular its support for the new HyperBus interface," said Jackson Huang, Vice President of Segment and Ecosystem Marketing at Cypress Semiconductor Corp. "We developed the HyperBus interface to achieve our increasing product performance goals with faster response times, without sacrificing breadth of functionality."
Verification IP helps engineers reduce the time spent building testbenches by providing re-usable building blocks for common interfaces, protocols, and architectures. Mentor's memory verification IP model library includes memory configuration software that allows customers to instantly generate fast, timing-accurate, validated memory models based on vendor, protocol, and part number. In addition, Mentor's unique "reconfigurable-on-the-fly" architecture helps them evaluate second sources without recompilation or even restarting simulations.
"The vast majority of ASIC and FPGA project teams have moved to standard UVM SystemVerilog verification methodology, and until now have been unable to find a universal VIP library that supports bus protocols, peripheral interfaces, and memory devices, all in native UVM," says Mark Olen, Mentor Graphics product marketing manager, Design Verification Technology Division. "Judging from initial adoptions of our new memory VIP library, it's easy to see why verification IP is one of the fastest growing sub-segments in the functional verification market, now exceeding $110 million in annual spending, according to the Electronic Design Automation Consortium."
The Mentor VIP library provides engineers with standard UVM SystemVerilog components using a common architecture across all supported protocols. This allows rapid deployment of multiple protocols within a verification team. Test plans, compliance tests, test sequences and protocol coverage are all included as SV and XML source code, allowing simple re-use, extension and debug. The Mentor VIP components also include a comprehensive set of protocol checks, error injection and debug capabilities. The new memory models are qualified on all industry-standard simulators.
Mentor VIP is a core technology in the Mentor Enterprise Verification Platform(TM) (EVP) which boosts productivity in SoC functional verification for both ASICs and FPGAs by combining advanced verification technologies in a comprehensive platform. The Mentor EVP combines Questa(®) advanced verification solutions, the Veloce(®) emulation platform, and the Visualizer(TM) debug environment into a globally accessible, high-performance, datacenter resource. The Mentor EVP features global resource management that supports project teams around the world, maximizing both user productivity and total verification return on investment.

Microchip Launches New LoRa® Module Designed for North American Low-Power Wide-Area Networks (LPWAN)
New RN2903 Wireless Modem is FCC Certified for Use in the 915 MHz Band
CHANDLER, Ariz., Feb. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Microchip Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: MCHP), a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, today announced an addition to its LoRa(®) technology product line. The new RN2903 wireless modem works with North American Low-Power Wide-Area Networks (LPWAN) and is FCC certified for use in the 915 MHz band. The RN2903 modem is designed to be an efficient way to add long-range LoRaWAN(TM) network capability to any embedded design by integrating a proven LoRaWAN protocol stack running on a low-power PIC(®) microcontroller, along with the LoRa radio and embedded antenna matching circuit.
Driven by the LoRa Alliance, LoRa technology is able to achieve a range of up to 10 miles and 10-year battery life. The technology targets low data rates and low-duty-cycle applications such as energy metering, location tracking, utility infrastructure monitoring and control, smart city and agriculture. Although predominantly used for the uplink of sensor data, bidirectional communications allow real-time acknowledgement of mission-critical data and downlink control of remote actuator nodes.
"LoRaWAN is already the dominant LPWAN technology choice in Europe, with numerous private and public network deployments," said Steve Caldwell, vice president of Microchip's Wireless Solutions Group. "Until today, the rollout of LoRaWAN in the USA has been hampered only by the lack of credible end-node solutions - which the cost-optimized RN2903 from Microchip solves. Microchip was the first to pass LoRa Alliance certification and we plan to continue to be an innovator in this space and a proud member of the LoRa Alliance."
The RN2903 is designed to be easy to adopt, which minimizes research and development investment and speeds time to market. The simple ASCII-over-UART interface can be controlled by any embedded system, even down to a tiny, eight-pin PIC12 MCU, and the embedded antenna matching circuits and FCC modular certification require minimal radio expertise.
Pricing and Availability
The RN2903 is fully available now, priced at $10.90 each in 1,000-unit quantities. 'Mote' development boards (part number DM164139) are also available for purchase, priced at $69.99 each. Intersil's Multi-Phase 55V Synchronous Boost Controllers Simplify Automotive Power System Design
Highly integrated ISL78227 and ISL78229 enable smaller, more robust designs
MILPITAS, Calif., Feb. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Intersil Corporation (NASDAQ: ISIL), a leading provider of innovative power management and precision analog solutions, today announced two new 55V two-phase synchronous boost controllers with integrated high-side and low-side MOSFET drivers. The ISL78227 and ISL78229 are the industry's most robust and highly integrated boost controllers available to simplify the design of high power automotive applications. Operating from a 12V battery supply, these devices boost the output voltage to 24V, 36V or 48V for premium 200W to 800W trunk audio amplifiers, start-stop systems, and headlamp LED strings. Both controllers also address the rigorous demands of industrial and telecom applications where a step-up DC/DC converter must deliver high power in a small solution size.
The ISL78227 and ISL78229 enable a modular design for systems requiring power and thermal scalability. They support wide input and output ranges of 5V to 55V and deliver greater than 95% efficiency to reduce power loss and heat dissipation. The ability to interleave two controllers for a four-phase application effectively doubles the output power and reduces input/output ripple, allowing power supply designers to use smaller capacitors to save board space and lower their bill of materials cost. Numerous protection features keep the ISL78227 and ISL78229 operating under virtually any condition. Their unique soft-on function ensures smooth transition from discontinuous-conduction mode (DCM) to continuous-conduction mode (CCM) after completing a soft-start, keeping the power supply safe under all start-up conditions.
The ISL78227 and ISL78229 also offer a unique envelope-tracking feature that dynamically adjusts or scales the output voltage on the fly to meet all system load demands. For example, whenever the battery supply is low, power consumption of various components such as the audio amplifier must be limited, especially if the radio is on while the engine is off. Transient events such as the start-stop system restarting the engine also require on-the-fly voltage adjustments. And to simplify the task of attaining the ISO 26262 automotive safety integrity level (ASIL) rating, the ISL78229 offers a digital PMBus(TM) interface for advanced control, telemetry and diagnostics. Full Story:
EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) today announced EMC(®) DSSD(TM) D5(TM), a quantum leap in flash storage. Available in March, DSSD D5 is the first of a new category of flash storage - Rack-Scale Flash. DSSD D5 is a completely new architecture designed for the most data-intensive applications, both traditional and next-generation, which require extreme levels of performance and the lowest possible latency. DSSD D5 reaches new performance heights, with real-world results that speed applications such as genetic sequencing calculations, fraud detection, credit card authorization, and advanced analytics by as much as 10X.
Enterprises at the cutting edge demand high-performance infrastructure to leverage data growth, data velocity and variety for business needs. These organizations require shared enterprise-ready flash storage with the highest levels of performance, throughput and almost nonexistent latency. Latency that in the past was only attained through direct-attached PCIe flash cards with major drawbacks in price, scale, expandability, serviceability, availability, and shareability - with every PCIe card an individually managed and non-redundant island of storage.
DSSD D5 delivers ultra-dense, high-performance, highly available and very low latency shared flash storage for up to 48 redundant connected servers. D5 is connected to each node through PCIe Gen3 and leverages NVMe technology, to deliver the performance of PCI-attached flash. D5 is a standalone appliance that is disaggregated from compute, delivering the benefits of shared storage. The result is next-generation performance with latency as low as 100 microseconds, throughput as high as 100 GB/s, and IOPS of up to 10 million in a 5U system.
The ultra-high performance D5 was developed from the ground up and packaged with multiple industry-first hardware and software innovations that set it apart from any other storage offering available on the market. DSSD D5 moves beyond storage into the realm of enabling next-generation applications that require extreme performance and scalability. Designed to meet the demands of the high-performance, data-intensive workloads of tomorrow, D5 also delivers a crucial link to emerging next-generation applications based on extremely large, fast-growing working sets with 100 percent hot and active data.
DSSD D5 reduces data center footprint and costs with ultra-dense, shared flash. The appliance provides up to 36 flash modules with 144TB RAW (100TB usable) capacity, in a five rack-unit chassis that can be accessed redundantly by up to 48 direct-attached servers. D5 is also engineered to provide increased application uptime through enterprise-class availability and serviceability features. These features include dual-ported client cards, dual H/A controllers, redundant components and industry-leading flash reliability and resiliency with Cubic RAID(TM), dynamic wear leveling, flash physics control and space-time garbage collection.
Proven Use Cases
EMC offers DSSD D5 to benefit industries currently limited by traditional architectures that were not designed for the extreme performance needs of their business critical applications. These include applications built on top of Hadoop, high performance databases and data warehouses as well as custom applications used for complex, real-time data processing and real-time analytics and insight.
DSSD D5 accelerates current databases and data warehouse solutions, such as Oracle, through an innovative low-latency data path to deliver 3X lower latency, one-fifth the rack space and 68% lower TCO than the highest published performance Oracle solution. With DSSD D5, customers can consolidate multiple applications onto a single storage platform, and simplify data warehouses by eliminating multiple copies of data, complex indexing, intricate partitioning, and the need for materialized views.
For Hadoop workloads, DSSD D5 significantly accelerates operational analytics compared to traditional DAS infrastructure. Also, customers can independently scale compute and storage, capturing maximum return from their flash investment by writing only one copy of data on flash, irrespective of replication factor set in HDFS.
DSSD D5 is creating a new category of flash storage, Rack-Scale Flash, and there's more to come. EMC's Converged Platforms Division (VCE(®)), will incorporate DSSD D5 into its VCE converged infrastructure portfolio in the near future.
"We're running some of the most complex workloads in the world, but traditional flash couldn't offer the performance or bandwidth we wanted to service our applications or analyze our data in real time. DSSD D5 has fundamentally changed our business by eliminating unnecessary software, hardware and pre-processed batch jobs. With DSSD, we're able to support applications and analytics at never-before-seen speeds; this is what enabled us to make the leap to this new generation of flash storage, and we're not looking back."
Doug Babb, Chief IT Systems Architect, Systems Implementers Inc., contractor supporting the USAF and initiator of Project BonFire
"We were an early adopter to direct attached server flash, 100% flash Storage Area Networks and Hyper-converged flash appliances. DSSD D5 provides a performance capability that exceeds our expectations. We anticipate DSSD D5 will provide at least a 10x performance improvement over our existing analytic platforms. In my opinion, DSSD D5 will also have a transformative impact on our ability to securely increase our application consolidation efforts on smaller footprints, dramatically reducing hardware and licensing costs while delivering to our customers a real-time return on their information and fueling real-time security."
Gary Grider, High Performance Computing Division Leader, Los Alamos National Laboratory
"We have been testing the DSSD D5 technology for several months with multiple workloads: file systems, NOSQL DBs and the DSSD direct API. The unique shared high bandwidth PCI connectivity, the low latency, and the very high read bandwidth achieved are impressive in such a small footprint."

Cloudera has tested the DSSD D5 appliance in our lab, and we've seen an order of magnitude increase in performance. It's the fastest HBase cluster we've ever tested."
Bob Olwig, VP of Business Strategy & Marketing, World Wide Technology, Inc.
"WWT has been an early DSSD partner and tested and validated the D5, and we've demonstrated the performance and TCO benefits of rack-scale flash to our joint customers. Increasingly, customers are looking to WWT for innovations that solve challenging business problems, particularly in the areas of Big Data and high performance enterprise analytics. DSSD's D5 storage product is screaming fast and we see immediate benefits the D5 can bring to IT environments within our Financial Services, Technology/Telco and Federal verticals."
Industry Analyst Quote
Eric Burgener, Research Director for Storage Practice, IDC
"As companies come to better understand the value that real-time analytics offers in terms of identifying new prospects and new market opportunities, lead generation, and customer retention, the evolving big data segment will increasingly penetrate mainstream computing. This changes the scale, both in terms of performance and capacity, at which IT infrastructure must operate going forward, demanding significant changes in storage architectures. DSSD identified this opportunity early on and is introducing a new category of enterprise storage, called 'Rack-Scale Flash', with key features that define this new category, including a completely flash-optimized design, direct memory attachment for networked storage, a much lighter weight I/O stack that breaks latency and throughput barriers, and the separation of control and data planes."
EMC Executive Quote:
CJ Desai, President Emerging Technologies Division, EMC Corporation
"EMC acquired DSSD in 2014 because we recognized its game-changing innovation. Today, we're bringing a hardened, tested platform to market, changing the face of flash as we know it and rounding out EMC's already-robust flash portfolio. DSSD is a blazing fast, high-performance solution and customers are in for a magnitude improvement in what's now possible for demanding applications in this new era of Rack-Scale Flash."

Customer Quote:
Ari Bose, Chief Information Officer, Brocade
"As Brocade expands into new markets, our requirement for consistent low-latency, high-performance data storage is growing rapidly. But we can't afford to compromise performance, reduced resiliency or lack of native data services. We have a long and trusted relationship with EMC and its VMAX platform, so VMAX All Flash will allow us to meet our evolving needs. The simple planning and deployment for scale-out and scale-up flash storage, supported by the enterprise data services that we rely on from EMC, make VMAX All Flash the optimum solution for our needs."
Industry Analyst Quote:
Mark Peters, Practice Director & Senior Analyst, ESG
"The storage industry is changing, both extensively and rapidly. When flash is faster, cheaper and offers a better cost-capacity-performance ratio than disk, it becomes the obvious choice for workloads that aren't purely capacity oriented. But this still only makes sense when flash can deliver the same reliability promises that organizations have come to expect for their enterprise storage. Reliability, simplicity and integration will be the hallmarks of a new breed of flash storage for 'regular enterprise' use; a category which we expect to come into its own in 2016."
EMC Executive Quote:
Guy Churchward, President, Core Technologies, EMC Corporation
"2016 is the Year of All-Flash for primary storage and EMC is marking this milestone with the VMAX All Flash - a completely re-engineered platform that leverages extremely dense flash drives, paired with the power and simplicity of the VMAX data services platform. Full Story:
EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC) today announced a quantum leap forward in its enterprise storage strategy with major additions to the industry's leading all-flash storage solutions to address mixed, consolidated and the world's most performance-intensive enterprise workloads. Complementing the industry-leading XtremIO all-flash array, today's announcement of EMC's flagship VMAX(®) All Flash(®) enterprise data services platform and EMC(®) DSSD(TM) D5(TM) Rack-Scale Flash solution (see related news releases linked above) underscores EMC's commitment to all-flash arrays for primary storage. EMC's flash portfolio is designed to address virtually any enterprise data center use case, enabling the Modern Data Center. By 2020, EMC estimates that all storage used for production applications will be flash-based; traditional disk will primarily be used for bulk and archive storage only.
EMC's all-flash portfolio is purpose-built to address virtually any enterprise data center use case:
-- XtremIO(®) all-flash arrays for accelerating and consolidating mixed
block storage workloads such as databases, analytics, server virtual
machines, and virtual desktop infrastructures that require consistent
and predictable performance with sub-millisecond latencies. XtremIO is
designed to address most high-end enterprise workloads with some of the
industry's best inline data compression and de-duplication capabilities
for improved capacity economics.
-- VMAX All Flash for consolidating mixed block and file workloads that
require up to "six-nines" of enterprise availability, rich data
services, IBM mainframe and iSeries support, and scalable storage
growth. VMAX All Flash offers the gold standard of replication,
recovery, data services and quality of service, re-engineered with all
flash to deliver up to four petabytes (PB) of storage capacity.
-- DSSD D5 Rack-Scale Flash - a new flash storage category with
breakthrough performance - for the most performance-intensive,
traditional and next-generation use cases that require microsecond
latencies such as real-time analytics for Hadoop and Oracle.
-- VNX(®) Series arrays provide EMC's simplest and most economic all-flash
offering. The all-flash VNXe starts at less than $25K and offers support
for file and block workloads for midrange enterprises and departmental
workloads.
EMC's Converged Platforms division, VCE(®) will deliver new Converged Infrastructure offerings based on these all-flash building blocks.
Solid State Drives Overtake Traditional Disk for Primary Storage
As the first vendor to offer Solid State Drives (SSDs) in enterprise storage arrays in 2008, EMC has continuously innovated and evolved its storage portfolio to deliver products that address customer needs for performance, reliability and rich data services at competitive price points. Both the technology and market evolution of SSDs has reached the point of making all-flash arrays cost-effective for general-purpose enterprise data storage. EMC will continue leveraging a variety of flash media in its all-flash products including 3D NAND and future cutting-edge flash technologies.
Higher flash drive density, lower failure rates, lower power consumption and operating temperatures relative to traditional disk arrays also contribute to enterprise storage platforms that require less data center floor space, power and cooling.
According to IDC's most recent Worldwide Quarterly Disk Storage Systems Tracker[2], EMC is the market share leader in all-flash storage solutions at 39%, more than the next three competitors combined and is also the market share leader in enterprise storage solutions that include both all-flash and hybrid flash storage arrays. EMC storage solutions based on hybrid configurations will be offered primarily for bulk data storage capacity and archive requirements.
Modern Pricing and Packaging for the Modern Data Center
Building on overwhelmingly positive customer feedback for the simplified pricing and packaging of its XtremIO all-flash arrays, EMC is extending its Xpect More Program to offer customers simplified planning, deployment and management for the new VMAX All Flash array. The Xpect More Program offers the unique combination of a lifetime flat-price maintenance model and lifetime flash endurance protection. This not only removes many typical barriers to adoption of new technologies, it gives customers the ability to plan future procurement in a more predictable and efficient manner.
Industry Analyst Quote:
Ashish Nadkarni, Program Director IDC
"Anyone could easily predict that flash would someday overtake traditional disk for primary storage workloads purely for price/performance. What has been less clear until now is how many different workloads can benefit from the inherent agility that flash storage has to offer beyond raw speed. EMC is showing through the introduction of its newest all-flash products how purpose-built all-flash solutions can deliver distinct benefits across a variety of general-purpose and performance-intensive application workloads."
EMC Executive Quote:
Jeremy Burton, President of Products and Marketing, EMC Corporation
"Today's enterprise customer wants to enable their business with modern data centers that deliver agility, efficiency and speed. We're expanding upon EMC's primary storage strengths and all-flash leadership, built with XtremIO. With the introduction of VMAX All Flash and DSSD D5 there is virtually no data center use case we're unable to address from traditional high-end enterprise workloads, to use cases that people haven't even dreamt about in the data center of tomorrow."

Drive Safe! Peach Fuzzer Now Finds Flaws In Automotive Control Systems
Recent enhancements to the world's leading enterprise fuzz-testing platform allows for the discovery of zero-day vulnerabilities in critical automotive subsystems
SEATTLE, Feb. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Peach Fuzzer, LLC, announces new enhancements to the world's leading fuzz-testing platform. This latest release extends the out-of-the-box fuzzing capabilities of Peach Fuzzer to allow interfacing with, and scrutinizing of, protocols built upon the pervasive automotive communications protocol, CAN bus. Auto manufacturers and firms can now uncover previously undetected flaws that could otherwise have led to potentially deadly zero-day attacks.
These enhancements make it even easier to systematically deploy the Peach Fuzzer platform to sniff out and identify unknown vulnerabilities in any of the dozens of electronic control units (ECUs) that have recently been targeted in high-profile proof-of-concept exploits. Peach Fuzzer now offers a cost-effective solution for discovering unknown vulnerabilities in the 70+ ECUs and components responsible for automotive operation (transmission, cruise control, power steering) and safety (airbags, antilock braking, alarm). Libercom Launches Color Changing 'The Circle' Bumper Case for iPhone 6 Series
ATLANTA, Feb. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Libercom has announced the launch of the newer version of the popular 'The Circle' bumper case for iPhone 6, 6s, 6 plus and 6s plus. As reported, it is the world's first color changing and luminous iPhone case. The case is available in four colors, blue, gray, pink and yellow - each of which turns white when subjected to temperatures of 95 degrees Fahrenheit or above. The case can change color when subjected to the environmental heat or the internal heat of the iPhone after prolonged usage.
The iPhone case has been launched on Kickstarter with a goal of raising $5000, which will be utilized in putting the unique case into mass production and for delivering it to the backers on time. The supporters of the campaign will also have a chance to own 'The Circle' bumper case, in the color of their choice, by contributing $15 or more. The shipping for the same will start in the month of April 2016.
The Circle bumper case has a minimalistic design to cover the circumference of the iPhone while saving the classic design yet it is claimed to be strong enough to protect the phone just like any other high-quality iPhone case. The phone does not use any electricity to change color or luminosity but it is made with unique components that result in its unique properties.
The user won't have to face the problem of locating their iPhone in dark environments since the bumper case glows in the dark. After subjected to light for a while, the iPhone case can be made to glow in the dark which makes it easier for the user to find their iPhone. The Circle case is the second bumper case by Libercom and with continuous research and efforts, the company has come up with an even stronger case this time.
The case is designed to firmly grip the iPhone from the inside and increase the hand grip from the outside, thus, making it more durable. The translucent nature of the case will allow the user to view the buttons easily while the silicon cover makes it easy to feel the switch since it projects out over the surface so that the user can know whether the ring/silent switch is on or off without even looking at it.
The owners of the project are also providing a complementary clip with the iPhone case which can be used as navigation mount to firmly hold the device on a flat surface. More information about 'the Circle' iPhone bumper case is available on Kickstarter.

Huntkey Launches the Latest SZN607 Power Strip with Dual USB and Child Protection
SHENZHEN, China, Feb. 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ - Huntkey, a global professional provider of power supplies and power strips, is announcing a new member in its SZN Series -- the SZN607 power strip.
The SZN Series is composed of four models -- SZN401, SZN501, SZN507 and SZN607. All models are equipped with universal standard sockets, which are widely used in many countries around the world, including Vietnam, India, Dubai, Kazakhstan, Peru, and Egypt.
The SZN607 power strip is equipped with two USB ports, allowing users to charge two USB devices at the same time, without using a charger. The combined output can be up to 5V/2.4A. Meanwhile, it has five universal sockets, meaning five different devices can be used at the same time. In total, a maximum of seven devices can be in use at the same time.
Another highlight of the SZN607 power strip is the child protection function. Each socket is equipped with child-protective shutters which close over the sockets entirely. The shutters can be opened only when both the Live Wire hole and the Null Wire hole are inserted simultaneously. In other words, the socket will not be electrified when somebody accidentally inserts a finger into a pin hole, therefore protecting users, especially children, from the danger of electric shock.
Last but not least, an integral copper bar design is adopted as the internal structure, for less welding spots and low temperature rise. There is no solder joint, which avoids defects caused by cold solder joints and dry joints, therefore enhancing the reliability of the power strip. Even at full capacity the rise in temperature is low, which prevents the copper bar from overheating and catching fire. The SZN607 power strip is designed for the maximum safety of users.
The SZN607 power strip, together with the three other models in the SZN Series, is dedicated to providing the best quality and the ultimate safety for daily use. With four different models of different functions and numbers of sockets, the SZN Series is able to satisfy the demands of most users.

Bankable Frontier Associates To Test New Ways Of Linking Poor People To Financial Services In Africa
The FIBR project, supported by The MasterCard Foundation, will harness smartphone data to connect underserved customers to financial services
BOSTON, Feb. 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Bankable Frontier Associates (BFA), in partnership with The MasterCard Foundation, today launched FIBR (Financial Inclusion on Business Runways), a multi-million dollar, four-year project in Ghana and Tanzania to demonstrate how to better connect poor people to financial services by capturing and digitizing the data of business transactions in the informal economy.
By 2020, smartphone ownership is projected to rise from about 18% to over 50% in Africa, generating large amounts of new customer data. Thus, FIBR sets out to support technology, business and financial partners that can use this data to design and develop new ways to make savings, credit and insurance products available to underserved customers.
"FIBR is exploring different types of relationships, or links, between financial service providers and poor customers," said David Porteous, CEO of BFA. "The smartphone now makes it possible to propose new and more targeted solutions by a new range of players. How this happens and what will succeed is largely untested but it will be a transformative contribution to the financial services sector and how the poor better manage their money."
FIBR further broaches new territory by:
-- Experimenting with predictive algorithms on this data so financial
service providers can make better decisions about potential customers in
underserved markets, and
-- Cultivating an active learning agenda that is supported with practical
examples, and sharing insights with the broader financial inclusion
field.
Two billion people worldwide lack access to regulated financial services yet the traditional way financial institutions cater to underserved customers is limited, resulting in low adoption and usage of services. Experimenting with the data from a poor person's interactions with businesses as an employee, customer or supplier, and using it as a financial track record, opens up new possibilities in what a bank can offer, fund or underwrite.
"These business-based relationships, such as a shopkeeper extending customer credit, an employer setting aside savings for employees or a club providing micro-insurance to its members represent an untapped, indirect source of financial data about a person," said Mark Wensley, Senior Program Manager, Financial Inclusion at The MasterCard Foundation. "With this data, banks and microfinance institutions, even mobile network operators, can offer a wide range of new financial services to poor customers whom they currently cannot serve directly."
At the official project launch in Accra, Ghana, on February 25, BFA announced that several local organizations were already engaged in pre-qualifying projects for FIBR. By June 2016, the first selection of partners is scheduled to go through the program.

Mentor Graphics Launches Veloce Apps: Initiating the Next Era of Emulation
Highlights:
- New Veloce Apps target critical challenges in in-circuit emulation (ICE) debug, yield and manufacturing ramp-up, and gate-level verification.
- New era of emulation leverages applications-based strategy to quickly expand emulation use models for system-on-chip (SoC) and systems design verification.
- Application and operating system innovations accelerate compile, run time and debug cycle times for twice the overall throughput.
WILSONVILLE, Ore., Feb. 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Mentor Graphics Corp. (Nasdaq: MENT), today ushered in a new era of emulation by announcing new applications for the Veloce(®) emulation platform. The new Veloce Apps--Veloce Deterministic ICE, Veloce DFT and Veloce FastPath--overcome critical system-level verification challenges in complex SoC and system designs. They run on an upgraded Veloce OS3 operating system that significantly accelerates design compile cycles, gate-level flows, and the time it takes to review results ("time to visibility"). The combination of Veloce Apps on Veloce OS3 puts more capabilities into the hands of more engineers more quickly than hardware-centric strategies.
Each of the new Veloce Apps addresses a specific verification issue:
-- Veloce Deterministic ICE overcomes unpredictability in ICE environments
by adding 100 percent visibility and repeatability for debug, and
provides access to other 'virtual-based' use models;
-- Veloce DFT accelerates Design for Test (DFT) verification prior to
tape-out to minimize the risk of catastrophic failure, and significantly
reduces run times when verifying designs after DFT insertion; and
-- Veloce FastPath optimizes emulation performance when verifying large
multi-clock SoC designs by enabling faster model execution speed.
These new Veloce Apps join Veloce Power, Veloce Enterprise Server and other apps in an expanding arsenal of software innovations for the Veloce emulation platform. Mentor will continue to expand the library of Veloce Apps to introduce new ways to ensure designs meet their functional and performance specifications on schedule.
The Veloce OS operating system adds software programmability and resource management to the Veloce platform, making it easier to add new use models that increase the ROI of the emulator. The recent upgrade of Veloce OS3 covers several innovations:
-- Integration of new High Performance Computing platforms cuts compile
time by 50 percent.
-- A faster gate-level flow operates as "plug-and-play"--able to accept
flat or hierarchical designs. This flow reduces the amount of memory
needed for compilation, which improves performance. By making it easier
to load and verify gate-level designs, the new flow improves confidence
in silicon fidelity.
-- The combination of software and hardware improvements spanning the run
time and debug cycles achieves 200 percent faster time-to-visibility.
These new Veloce emulation capabilities demonstrate how innovative software, running on powerful, qualified hardware and an extensible operating system, can target design risks faster than hardware-centric strategies. As emulation enters its fourth decade and expands across mainstream markets, the Veloce emulation platform has become a powerful resource across a range of hardware, software and system verification flows.
"Mentor continues to demonstrate its technology leadership through its application-based strategy for the Veloce emulation platform," said Eric Selosse, vice president and general manager of the Mentor Emulation Division. "These latest innovations accelerate overall verification throughput performance for our customers. The focus on software apps for specific SoC and system-level challenges is driving the future of emulation."
About the Veloce emulation platform
The Veloce emulation platform is a core technology in the Mentor(®) Enterprise Verification Platform(TM) (EVP) - a platform that boosts productivity in ASIC and SoC functional verification by combining advanced verification technologies in a comprehensive platform.
Now considered among the most versatile and powerful of verification tools, project teams use emulation for hardware debugging, hardware/software co-verification or integration, system-level prototyping, low-power verification and power estimation and performance characterization.
