Interactive Retail Platform from iQmetrix Transforms Shopping Experience for Wireless Consumers
ORLANDO, Fla., March 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- iQmetrix announces XQ Interactive Retail, its revolutionary new digital media solution, at CTIA 2011 in Orlando, March 22-24.
XQ transforms the retail space with a suite of dynamic digital media solutions that entertain, educate and guide shoppers through the process of buying a mobile device. XQ technology bridges the gap between online and brick-and-mortar shopping. Displaying a continuous flow of interactive media, XQ brings the store to life and pulls customers in with eye-catching content. Once in store, customers can use XQ to browse product catalogs to select a device, a rate plan, features, add-on accessories and promotions.
Today's wireless customer is looking for a new way to shop. Consumers are seeking an experience that offers all the convenience and information of online shopping, but also provides the ability to touch and try a product in-store(1). By giving shoppers everything they're looking for - engagement, convenience and information to identify the device and price they want(2) - XQ truly creates the ultimate customer experience.
"Online and mobile technologies have changed the way people shop, and the wireless industry is at the center of this shift, which is why we're excited to launch XQ Interactive Retail at CTIA," says Christopher Krywulak, President and CEO of iQmetrix. "Retailers have told us they are excited to use XQ to deliver an experience beyond their customer's expectations."
XQ also gives wireless retailers a distinct competitive advantage. XQ's integrates directly with RQ4, iQmetrix's industry leading retail management system, allowing retailers to customize the experience of each shopper, which maximizes use of customer profile information, purchasing history, inventory data and more.
The hassle of sourcing and creating content is eliminated with iQ Catalog, also integrated with the XQ suite. Content such as product images and videos, rate plans and product prices are aggregated from a variety of trusted industry sources, including carriers, manufacturers, distributors and partners. Retailers also have the ability to upload their own unique content.
"We can't wait to offer the XQ Interactive Retail experience to our customers," says Ajay Bhumitra, President of Arjay Wireless, a 33-location dealer based in Long Island, N.Y. "Shopping for a new phone can be complicated, so breaking down the shopping sequence with a familiar 'online interface' in the physical store makes it a lot easier for us to sell product. And since XQ is integrated with RQ4, we can really leverage both solutions to improve our all aspects of our retail business, from the back to the front of the house."
iQmetrix has combined the back-end operations of RQ4 with the front-end customer experience of XQ to once again make a dramatic impact on the North American wireless retail landscape.

Quantifiable Business Benefits to Device OEM's and Operators by Testing LTE Products With the EB Propsim F8 and its New MIMO (Multiple Input/Multiple Output) Features
Drives business growth by enabling greater network capacity and increasing user satisfaction
ORLANDO, Fla., March 21, 2011/PRNewswire/ -- CTIA WIRELESS 2011 -- EB, Elektrobit Corporation (OMX: EBC1V), a developer of cutting-edge embedded technology solutions for automotive and wireless industries, today announces new features for its EB Propsim F8, a MIMO Over The Air (OTA) real-world-simulated testing laboratory for LTE phones. The feature allows device OEM's and operators to even more reliably test 4G smartphones and dongles over the air, ensuring swift data downloads and improved voice connections for customers.
With the mobile industry switching into 4G LTE smartphones, operators and OEMs are in need of a testing feature that will provide accurate measurement of broadband capacity, data speeds and signal strength enabled by the MIMO feature. Through testing, the EB MIMO OTA solution can increase wireless system capacity by up to 16 percent, ultimately improving end-user satisfaction within networks, while driving revenue growth for the entire wireless ecosystem.
"Our MIMO OTA emulator provides a simulation of a real-world wireless network scenario so device OEM's and operators can realistically gauge the effectiveness of their devices and decide which ones will work the best. InvisiTrack(TM) LS(TM) Utilizes Low-Frequency Radio Spectrum to Deliver Precise Indoor Location Positioning
InvisiTrack's patented Location System (LS) provides accurate and reliable indoor location positioning for smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices supporting mobile advertising, social networking and location-based applications.
ORLANDO, Fla.,March 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CTIA Wireless 2011 -- InvisiTrack, Inc. today announced that its InvisiTrack Location System (LS), the world's first accurate and reliable indoor/outdoor location positioning and tracking solution, is available now for integration with devices that use LTE, TV-Band White Space and other low-frequency spectrums. InvisiTrack was selected by a panel of judges to showcase its solution at the Telecom Council New Innovation Showcase Pavilion at CTIA, located in booth 4290-HH.
InvisiTrack LS utilizes low-frequency bands to increase signal range by up to a factor of ten over legacy location methods. InvisiTrack LS also enables mobile location systems to operate in environments where high-frequency legacy location methods fail, and to provide accurate location fixes with resolutions of less than three meters indoors and one meter outdoors without need for fixed infrastructure. InvisiTrack LS complements GPS-based outdoor navigation by providing the critical link to bring accurate location positioning indoors and enhances the use of emerging presence-based technologies such as NFC and MEMS-based navigation.
InvisiTrack utilizes the superior propagation characteristics of low-frequency radio spectrums to improve both accuracy and reliability of location positioning, thus setting the new high-water mark in state-of-the-art location technology. InvisiTrack's methods are protected by seven US patents and patents pending in the EU, Japan, Korea and China.
InvisiTrack LS integrates seamlessly with LTE, White Space and mobile DTV chip sets without modification for use in LTE handsets, tablets, and other products. Devices configured with InvisiTrack LS enable users to navigate in GPS-challenged locations, such as inside shopping malls, industrial complexes and construction sites. InvisiTrack LS also enables advertisers to deliver precisely targeted location-based advertisements, finally making possible effective proximity-based advertising.
"At five years in the making, InvisiTrack LS delivers on the promise to bring accurate and reliable location positioning indoors," said Russ Markhovsky, Founder and CEO, InvisiTrack. "Now, with expanded support for low-frequency radio spectrums, we have vastly increased the range of products that can be configured with the InvisiTrack LS indoor positioning solution."
Recently, there has been a strong movement to utilize VHF and low UHF bands for new communication devices. LTE and White Space bands are the first widely available standards that allow the use of this part of the spectrum. At these lower frequencies, radio signals can penetrate walls and other obstacles that block high-frequency signals such as GPS, WiFi. The commercial use of White Space spectrums is now approved in the United States; other countries are planning to approve the use of equivalent spectrums through legislation. InvisiTrack's patented low-frequency location solution positions it to take advantage of this forthcoming proliferation of newly available low-frequency spectrums.
The InvisiTrack research and development team has taken a unique approach in developing the LS technology, basing it on three complementary innovations:
-- Narrow Bandwidth Ranging: InvisiTrack has techniques to obtain highly
precise RF ranging signal data at even lower frequency signals. This
allows InvisiTrack LS to provide accurate location at up to ten times
the range of other location methods
-- Multipath Error Correction: When attempting to navigate in metropolitan
areas with large buildings or inside complex structures that reflect
radio signals, multipath errors are the leading cause of inaccurate
location readings. InvisiTrack LS overcomes this problem by using a
unique signal design and advanced estimation methods to calculate the
precise distance between InvisiTrack LS-enabled devices even if
obstacles, such as walls, floors, buildings and other reflective
structures, separate them.
-- Virtual Triangulation: By simply moving an InvisiTrack LS-enabled
device, such as a smartphone, the user establishes virtual points in
space. InvisiTrack LS uses these points to triangulate the position of a
tracked target. This is ideal for device-to-device applications, where
location positioning can be achieved with only two LS-enabled devices.
Founded in 2005 with support from the State of Maryland, the University of Maryland, and Angel investors, InvisiTrack is the creator and licensor of the InvisiTrack Location System (LS), the world's first accurate system for indoor/outdoor location and tracking. InvisiTrack is working with leading mobile handset manufacturers, network operators and service providers to bring a new generation of location-based services to consumers, enterprises and government agencies.

Success Drives Expansion of Locations for Verizon's Wholesale Ethernet Exchange Services
Exchange Offers Simplicity, Flexibility and Choice for Wholesale Customers
LAS VEGAS, March 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Verizon is expanding availability of its award-winning Ethernet services using the nationwide CENX Carrier Ethernet Exchange to include Los Angeles and Washington, D.C. Ethernet exchanges provide a neutral place for buyers and sellers to peer, connect and purchase Ethernet services.
Verizon announced the expansion, which is scheduled for the second quarter of 2011, at the COMPTEL Plus Conference and Expo in Las Vegas. The additional locations will address an increase in customer demand for Verizon's Ethernet exchange services, which the company launched in early 2010.
Verizon uses the CENX Carrier Ethernet Exchange, a leading worldwide carrier exchange, to offer global wholesale carriers a range of options that support the carriers' customers, creating significant new revenue opportunities. Customers that take advantage of Ethernet exchanges can experience a quicker, simpler interconnection process, speeding up the time to market of their offerings.
"The positive response we've experienced since launching this product demonstrates that customers are accepting the Ethernet exchange concept," said Matthew Duckworth, marketing director for Verizon Global Wholesale. "Ethernet is a dynamic field in and of itself, and as our customers discover how flexible and easy it is to use our Ethernet exchange services, they're quickly getting on board."
At the CENX exchanges where Verizon is connected, carriers configure their network interconnection to CENX as they choose. CENX then handles the translations and interoperability between Verizon and its carrier customers as services are turned up, streamlining the detailed engineering of such service setups.
"The ease of access to our Ethernet services platforms has driven additional interest in our other Ethernet products such as port and access services and Ethernet virtual circuits, creating a broader base of customers that now have access to Ethernet services," said Duckworth.
The Ethernet exchange plays a key role in meeting the operational demands of Ethernet growth, and further drives the deployment of many Ethernet-dependent applications. Additionally, by using the CENX Market real-time portal, members of the CENX exchange can quickly confirm the details of specific Verizon service offerings as they plan delivery of Ethernet services.
In June 2010, Verizon Global Wholesale and its Ethernet exchange partner CENX earned top honors from Global Telecoms Business magazine for providing Verizon's wholesale customers simplified access to a broad range of Ethernet services. Verizon's win in the Ethernet Service Innovation category of the magazine's annual event recognized the company's introduction of Ethernet exchange services in early 2010.

BOLT SDK Delivers Easy Integration of Web Content for Java Apps on Mobile Devices
Bitstream's award-winning cloud computing architecture now available as a software development kit for building mobile applications with perfect rendering of Web-based content without using an external browser
ORLANDO, Fla. and MARLBOROUGH, Mass., March 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- International CTIA WIRELESS® 2011 -- Bitstream Inc. (Nasdaq: BITS) today announced availability of the BOLT(TM) SDK, a suite of technology and tools that enables mobile application developers to build feature rich Java (Java ME) applications that work just as well on entry-level feature phones as they do on high-end smartphones. Now any company with Web-based content, such as media companies, can produce mobile apps that are ready to run on billions of mobile phones already in the market.
"Because of our expertise in rendering Web content on mobile devices, Bitstream was approached by developers trying to solve the problem of displaying dynamic Web content within an app without requiring the launch of an external browser, which takes the user outside of the app," said Sampo Kaasila, vice president of research development at Bitstream. "To Bitstream the solution was simple: use the BOLT architecture from within the app. While there may be ways to embed Web content inside smartphone apps, no such capabilities natively exist for Java feature phones, and the BOLT SDK fills that gap."
BOLT, widely regarded as the industry's most feature-rich mobile browser, delivers faster page load times and best in class HTML 5 support enabling access to capabilities typically associated with desktop browsers to any type of mobile phone platform. To achieve both its speed and advanced features, Bitstream engineered a WebKit-based cloud-computing architecture that enables all of the BOLT browser's capabilities.
This cloud-computing architecture is available to developers, enterprises and service providers as the BOLT SDK, which can be used to build Web content into robust applications delivered through their own custom user interfaces. The BOLT SDK supports Web apps written in HTML5, JavaScript and other Web programming languages, and can deliver the same features employed by BOLT including the downloading files, desktop style layout and delivering high performance on resource constrained devices.
The BOLT SDK together with the data compression inherent in the BOLT cloud computing architecture also gives Java ME apps for feature phones an advantage over smartphone apps in both speed of Web content as well as data consumption.
The BOLT SDK can now be used by application developers looking to seamlessly integrate Web content in their applications with the widest possible mobile phone support. The BOLT SDK is completely customizable and depending on the required application capabilities, can be configured in terms of package size and memory usage.
Bitstream will be demonstrating the BOLT cloud computing mobile browser and the BOLT SDK at CTIA WIRELESS in Orlando, Florida, March 22 to 24 in booth 1922. Wireless operators, handset manufacturers and service providers should contact boltsales@bitstream.com to learn more about the BOLT SDK.
About BOLT
Licensed by handset manufacturers and wireless operators around the world, the BOLT mobile browser delivers PC-style browsing with advanced features such as tabbed browsing, streaming audio and video, and integrated social networking in a relatively small application that is also the industry's most feature rich mobile browser. BOLT is available for Java ME, BREW and BlackBerry devices and has already been installed on thousands of different handset models. BOLT's WebKit based cloud computing infrastructure integrates easily with carriers' billing and OSS systems, and significantly reduces infrastructure costs with its best-in-class data compression. The BOLT SDK allows any service provider the ability to create custom Web-enabled applications that run on the widest possible number of mobile phones. Wireless operators, handset OEMs and service providers should contact boltsales@bitstream.com to learn more about BOLT.

New FiOS TV Customers in Florida Can Now Enjoy a Higher-Capacity Multi-Room DVR Free for as Long as They Wish
Customers Can Watch Shows on Their Schedule, From any TV in the House
TAMPA, Fla., March 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Five years after introducing the multi-room DVR to customers in the Tampa Bay region, Verizon's FiOS is once again taking the initiative by offering a lifetime of free DVR service.
Now for a limited time, new FiOS customers choosing either a triple- or quad-play bundle can also choose to lock in a higher-capacity multi-room DVR, free of charge, for as long as they maintain their FiOS bundle. The price for the multi-room DVR typically runs $19.99 per month. The new DVR boxes provide 500 gigabytes of hard-drive capacity, with the ability to store more than three times more programming than the previous DVR offered with FiOS and approximately 60 hours of HD-specific programming. The multi-room DVR supports viewing of recorded content on up to seven TVs in one house, up to three of them simultaneously.
"This offer gives people with multiple TVs the opportunity to control their home entertainment from the household or from anywhere," said Michelle Robinson, Verizon's Southeast region president. "The multi-room DVR allows you to store the FiOS programming you like and watch it from any room in the house that has a TV and set-top box. Using the My Verizon site, you can schedule recordings remotely through any broadband connection or use our Mobile Apps with your smart phone to schedule your programming.
"And the value doesn't stop there. We're offering more than triple the Internet speeds and more TV channels with our triple-play bundles than we offered five years ago - without ever increasing the starting price of the bundles. Add in Flex View, a robust sports platform, Widgets providing everything from social media applications to shopping, and a superior TV picture - not to mention the fastest Internet available - and choosing Verizon's FiOS becomes the smart choice for the best home-entertainment options," Robinson said.
Bundles range in price from $99.99 per month to $129.99 per month for triple plays. Quad-play bundle pricing is dependent on the Verizon Wireless calling plan chosen but starts by adding $39.99 to the FiOS bundle price for a 450-minute calling plan. Triple-play bundles are available with a two-year term or on a month-to-month basis as a part of Verizon's Worry-Free Guarantee. Verizon Wireless calling plans require a two-year term contract.
All prices represent base pricing; taxes and fees are not included, nor are discretionary choices like premium channel packages or additional set-top boxes. Other offers, including a Verizon Visa(®) prepaid card worth up to $100, may be selected if a customer is not interested in the multi-room DVR.
FiOS offers a broad collection of programming on TV, with more than 520 all-digital channels including 141 HD channels in its Florida lineup and 19,000 monthly video-on-demand titles. FiOS also provides next-generation interactive services including an advanced interactive media guide; social networking, news and entertainment widgets; remote DVR management via broadband or cell phone; and more.
In addition to the Worry-Free Guarantee, Verizon provides its residential customers with access to an industry-leading inventory of service tools to use via the company's intelligent networks, creating multiple options for consumers and allowing them to choose how, when and where they want service access. To help customers understand the various service options available to them every day - both traditional and self-driven tools -- Verizon produces an Online Interactive Brochure providing a directory of service features and instructions on how to use them. The Interactive Brochure helps customers make the best choice for the service they need and is continually revised as more online service tools are added or updated.

Virtual Data Center Management Gets Boost Via ActiveBatch's New Support for Microsoft Virtual Machine Manager
New Job Steps in Industry's Leading Job Scheduler Gives Enterprises Ability to Provision Microsoft Virtual Server, Hyper-V as well as VMware and Other Virtual Machine Systems
MORRISTOWN, N.J., March 21, 2011/PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Systems Concepts, Inc. (ASCI), maker of ActiveBatch® Workload Automation and Job Scheduling Software, today announced expanded integration with Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SC-VMM) to allow IT organizations to improve their business operations. Reflecting the mega-shift of data centers to cloud and virtual machine architectures, ActiveBatch's new SC-VMM job steps facilitate a full range of scheduled activity for provisioning virtual machines, thereby improving efficiency, increasing resource availability, enhancing service delivery and reducing overall IT costs.
"If users had infinite resources, they wouldn't need to worry about virtual provisioning. But all businesses understand they have finite resources and are looking to leverage them accordingly," said Jim Manias, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Advanced Systems Concepts. "Adding virtual provisioning to the start and end of the workflow process can result in a significant improvement in resource utilization by allocating resources as the workflow powers on, and giving them back when finished."
ActiveBatch's SC-VMM new job steps offer a complete, unified and easy-to-use environment for workflow scheduling. Supporting Microsoft Virtual Server, Microsoft Hyper-V and other virtual machine systems, the steps substantially extend ActiveBatch's already strong support for VMware, enabling a wide range of VMware-based provisioning and event commands.
ActiveBatch's Virtual Machine Manager steps also allow data center personnel to make greater use of Microsoft's popular virtual server management tool. Part of the Microsoft System Center line, Virtual Machine Manager coordinates and consolidates physical and virtual or cloud-based infrastructure for greater efficiency. From an easy-to-use central management console, the tool identifies suitable resources, provisions those resources, migrates information, and intelligently distributes workloads as needed.
Deployed at enterprises in over 40 countries, ActiveBatch is a cross-platform Job Scheduler and Workload Automation solution that allows enterprises to centrally manage disparate jobs and workflows, including tasks involving the most common operating systems, enterprise business applications and even Web Services. Supporting Windows and other common operating systems, platforms and applications as well as Web Services and SOA, ActiveBatch allows users to optimize enterprise resources; its central dashboard, Integrated Jobs Library, event-based architecture and "production-ready" job steps help users quickly and efficiently expedite the IT workload automation process.
In addition to Virtual Machine Manager, ActiveBatch V8 offers new job steps that support Microsoft Service Manager, another component of System Center. ActiveBatch has supported Systems Center Operations Manager, a cross-platform management server for operating systems and hypervisors, for some time.
The ActiveBatch SC-VMM job steps are now available within ActiveBatch Version 8 and are licensed separately. ActiveBatch V8 is now available for licensing, as well as by automatic upgrade for companies participating in ASCI's ActiveBatch Version Upgrade program. NAVTEQ Extends the Journey Beyond the 'Front Door'
NAVTEQ Destination Maps(TM) to enable orientation, guidance and routing for interior spaces
CHICAGO, March 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, today announced the launch of NAVTEQ Destination Maps. Destination Maps feature a unique set of interior map attributes (e.g., escalators) with detailed place data to enable users to more efficiently navigate and explore interior spaces. With NAVTEQ Destination Maps, location-based applications can extend beyond streets and sidewalks and into complex interior spaces.
NAVTEQ Destination Maps moves the industry beyond the interactive floor plan maps available today and into a three-dimensional data model essential to a more advanced exploration and guidance experience. It does this by providing pedestrian-specific attributes unique to interior requirements like stairs and elevators as well as recognizing different floor levels (called Z-levels) that are essential for applications to "understand" movement between floors once inside a venue and generate routes and guidance. NAVTEQ Destination Maps also include a Virtual Connections feature that enables more intuitive guidance by recognizing how pedestrians "cut across" open areas.
The product even includes access restrictions to avoid being guided to an "emergency exit" as well as precise locations of important points like the nearest public bathroom. Additional POI detail such as meta-tag data enables search to be associated not just with a POI (e.g., a department store) but with specific sub-information (e.g., perfume) within those categories.
NAVTEQ is the first global map provider to offer this type of indoor mapping product. Initially, the company will focus on mapping large shopping centers in the U.S. but plans to extend the product to include other types of complex destinations in the future.
NAVTEQ's own research* indicates consumers are ready for this holistic navigation experience: 74% of U.S. consumers are very likely to use interior mapping functionality when outside of their local area, and roughly 40% when local.
NAVTEQ Destination Maps also allows for seamless integration with other NAVTEQ products and services; for instance, dynamic POI content - such as Movie and Event Listings - can keep users abreast of entertainment options within and near each venue. Additionally, NAVTEQ LocationPoint(TM) Advertising services can deliver location-aware mobile ads and special offers to users as they shop, while helping to monetize high-value content.
"The concept of interior mapping and navigation is still relatively new," said Tom Fox, vice president, Maps and Content Americas, NAVTEQ. "And we recognize that the interior of shopping centers is just the beginning: as future indoor positioning technologies are deployed, NAVTEQ Destination Maps will support even more sophisticated applications like seeing where your friend is in the mall or how crowded a restaurant is in real-time. NAVTEQ is actively working with its customers to help shape future indoor mapping applications."
NAVTEQ Destination Maps currently covers more than 200 of the largest shopping centers in the U.S. (e.g., average of over 750,000 square feet) with expansion plans for more shopping centers and more types of destinations throughout North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
About NAVTEQ

Screenovate to Demonstrate Wi-Fi Smartphone Beaming Technology at CTIA 2011
Screenovate's beaming technology is optimized for better performance and easier integration on Qualcomm's Snapdragon Mobile Development Platform
TEL AVIV, Israel, March 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Screenovate Technologies Ltd., a leading provider of Smartphone-Centric Computing software, today announced they will demonstrate their wireless beaming solution for smartphones on Qualcomm Incorporated's Snapdragon(TM) Mobile Development Platform (MDP) at CTIA, enabling better performance and easier integration by smartphone OEMs and wireless operators.
The solution creates a distinct benefit for Snapdragon-enabled Android smartphones by providing a high frame rate, low latency capability for beaming the phone user interface (UI) onto other media platforms, such as TV, car display or PC monitor, over a standard Wi-Fi connection. The technology supports Qualcomm's efforts to enable new device capabilities that allow device manufacturers to create differentiated products that provide extraordinary user experiences. Smartphone OEMs can easily integrate the solution into their Android offering, leveraging Screenovate's Elastic UI layer to support the different beaming use cases.
Screenovate will demonstrate beaming of an interactive, high frame rate game from a smartphone to a TV, using the phone's motion sensors and touch screen to control the game while it's being displayed on the TV.
