Hourly is First to Launch In-Browser Video Interviewing for Employers

NEW YORK, March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Hourly (http://www.hour.ly) announced that it has partnered with TinyChat (http://www.tinychat.com) to be the first online job site to offer video interviewing capabilities for employers. In an effort to fill their open positions with greater ease and efficiency, employers who are members of Hourly, can invite potential job candidates to meet with them online, and conduct virtual interviews with the click of a button.

For freelance workers and small businesses, time is literally money. "While face to face interviews continue to be a vital hiring tool, the time required to conduct these meetings (or travel to them), cuts into everyone's productivity", says Lynn Dixon, Co-founder. "Video interviews on the other hand can be conducted at any time, and with TinyChat, all that is required is a camera and standard Flash software."

"The goal of Hourly is to streamline the entire process of finding and hiring hourly help", says Brooke Dixon, Co-founder and CEO of Hourly. "With the shift in the economy, more and more people are looking for temporary employment, yet the existing job sites have not adapted to the quick "sales" cycle and price sensitivity of this market. On Hourly, job seekers and employers can build dynamic work profiles that can then be matched, based on location, job function, rate of pay, and experience.

Further enhancing their service, Hourly is also announcing its partnership with Trufina Inc. (http://www.trufina.com) to provide opt-in ID verification and criminal background checks. Members will have the ability to further strengthen their work profile by running a background check on themselves, that can be viewed by potential employers, giving them added peace of mind when hiring. Jim Kinchley, CEO of Trufina remarked, "We are thrilled to be partnering with Hourly, and see their service as the next step in online employment, and a great tool in getting Americans back to work."

About Hourly

Hourly (http://www.hour.ly) is a social employment network for freelance, temporary, part-time and hourly work, matching job seekers with local employers. Hourly launched its beta site on Labor Day of 2010, and released its latest version today. Hourly is a member of the First Growth Venture Network, New York City, and the recipient of the "audience choice" award at the Web 2.0 Startup Showcase in October 2010.

Panasonic's 2011 Blu-Ray Line Up Focuses on High-Quality Picture and Sound, Ease-of-Use, Connectivity Energy Efficiency and Introduction of Skype(TM)

Skype Video and Voice Calls Supported by freetalk® Conference Camera

SECAUCUS, N.J., March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic , a major developer and contributor to the success of the Blu-ray format, recently introduced an expanded Blu-ray disc player lineup with three new Full HD 3D models - the DMP-BDT310, DMP-BDT210, DMP-BDT110 - and a new 2D model, the DMP-BD75.

The BDT310, BDT210 and BDT110 are all high-quality Blu-ray Disc players with 2D-to-3D up-conversion, which can convert 2D images from DVDs and Blu-ray discs into 3D with natural depth perception. With the 3D Enhancer and Depth Controller (allows user to adjust amount of depth when viewing 3D), these players produce movie theater-style 3D effects. Also contributing to higher picture quality is the new UniPhier chip, which simultaneously lowers power consumption. Vertical color data has also been increased by 1.5 times, to express fine details and nuances in movie scenes with the PHL Reference Chroma Processor 2. The new HDMI Jitter Purifier improves sound quality, delivering pure and robust bass sound reproduction with minimal noise compared to previous models.

The newest addition to VIERA Cast(TM), Panasonic's IPTV solution, on the BDT310, BDT210 and BDT110 is Skype(TM) video and voice calling.  Skype, along with the freetalk conference camera , lets users easily and affordably engage in long distance video conversations with family and friends by transforming their existing TV into a two-way communications device. The freetalk conference camera, with a wide-angle lens and beam-forming microphones, provides High Definition 720p resolution and will be available in March at major retailers and on-line at http://www.panasonic.com, with a SRP of $99.

Panasonic has made it even easier to access Skype through the Blu-ray Disc player with a devoted Skype button on the remote control. Other features of Skype include Standby Mode, which allows users to personalize ring tones, Answering Message, which allows users to create a personalized message when away, and SD Voice Mail which automatically records messages left onto an SD card. These three models are also DLNA-certified, allowing users to enjoy content on their Blu-ray player, from a computer or other DLNA compatible device.

In addition to the inclusion of Skype, VIERA Cast provides access to such entertainment, social media and business apps as Netflix(TM), Amazon VOD(TM), CinemaNow, Vudu, YouTube(TM), Twitter, Pandora®, Picassa(TM) Web Album and Bloomberg.

"Panasonic's 2011 Blu-ray Player lineup incorporates the successes of its 2010 line, while adding innovative features that meet the demand of consumers and new trends in technology," said Richard Simone, Director, Panasonic, Entertainment Group. "Features such as the touchless sensor, homescreen customization and Skype allow consumers to easily personalize their entertainment experience to fit their lifestyle. And now the consumer can enjoy the benefits of Skype from any HDTV."

The BDT310, BDT210, BDT110 and BD75 each feature a unique updated design, making operation simple with icons and text indications. They also have ultra-quick playback, the industry's fastest, with half the booting and loading time as 2010 models.  The BDT310 and BDT210 feature a touchless sensor to open and close the disc tray for smooth operation, perfect for dark rooms. Additionally, each of these 3D Blu-ray Disc players works with an iPhone as a remote. Movies, photos and music can be loaded from a computer, to the iPhone, and then played back through the Blu-ray Disc player on your TV.

New networking capabilities are among the highlight features of the new 2011 Blu-ray Disc player lineup. All four players allow users to customize their own home screen using your favorite photo or wallpaper. Simply insert an SD card into the Blu-ray player to transfer over the image. The BDT310 and BDT210 feature a built-in WiFi System, while the BDT110 includes a wireless adaptor for local area network connections.

Energy efficiency and sustainability are also important to the overall design and functionality of these models. All four models have compact slim designs and packaging reduction (50% less from 2010 models), significantly reducing CO2 emissions. The BDT310, BDT210 and BDT110 have an energy-saving design which saves on electricity bills and natural resources with a 37 % power reduction.

The Panasonic DMP-BDT210, DMP-BDT110 and DMP-BD75 are currently available, while the DMP-BDT310 ships in May.

Panasonic Announces Pricing for State-of-the-Art Compact Stereo Systems

SECAUCUS, N.J., March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic today announced pricing of four new sleek, compact stereo systems, two of which play Internet radio and boast a remarkable Bluetooth function and Bluetooth Re-Master technology to deliver superb sound quality from an iPod®, iPod touch® or iPhone®*.

Panasonic's new models SC-HC55, SC-HC05, SC-HC35 and SC-HC25 are equipped with advanced proprietary audio reproduction technologies to produce a level of sound performance to meet the needs of discerning music lovers. Digital connection of an iPod/iPhone allows the compact stereo systems to process music signals in their original form, thus delivering sound that is faithful to the original for enhanced enjoyment of downloaded music.

The two higher-end models, SC-HC55 and SC-HC05, boast wireless music streaming and Internet radio control.  Music lovers and talk radio enthusiasts can enjoy the hundreds of stations offered by Internet Radio and use the system's convenient features to search for stations and program their favorites by simply installing the vTuner** application onto an iPhone or iPod touch.

The SC-HC55 and SC-HC05 are equipped with Bluetooth functionality, enabling the further expansion of listening options making it possible to receive audio transmission and play wirelessly from an iPodTouch/iPhone/iPad(TM) or compatible mobile phone in one's hand, without docking.  The SC-HC55 and SC-HC05 are also equipped with Bluetooth Re-Master circuitry, which compensates for audio signals that are lost during Bluetooth wireless transmission, thus further enhancing the quality of digital music.

The award-winning SC-HC55, recipient of this year's Innovations Award for Design & Engineering, boasts a Hands Free function, which allows a conversation on the iPhone to be conducted using the system's speakers and built-in microphone, while it is docked.

Designed to meet the needs of iPod users who want to enjoy their favorite songs with high quality sound at home, the SC-HC55 and SC-HC05 employ advanced proprietary Pure Direct Sound System digital signal processing to reduce distortion and deliver an exceptionally pure, clear sound that rivals the quality of larger hi-fi systems and brings out the best in any musical genre.  The distortion that is commonly generated by the scattered reflection of sounds from the body surface is dramatically reduced by digital signal processing (DSP) correction to reproduce pure and clear sound.

Thanks to their sleek, ultra-slim design, the new compact stereos can be set up in places where conventional stereo systems will not fit.  The SC-HC55 and SC-HC35 can also be placed on the wall with an included wall mount bracket. The SC-HC55 sports a motorized, Touch-Free Sensor door which is equipped with a motion sensor, enabling it to open and close by simply passing a hand over it.

With the exception of the SC-HC05, all of the new compact stereo systems are equipped with a CD player and AM/FM radio and are designed with a rigid bamboo fiber material in the speaker cones to bring faithful sound vibration to the speaker drive. A dual passive radiator system employs passive radiators inside the main unit, positioned on both the left and right boxes to cancel out unwanted cabinet vibration and deliver dynamic bass sounds with minimal distortion.

Panasonic's new HC series will be available in April 2011.  The SC-HC55 will carry a suggested retail price (SRP) of $199.99, the SC-HC35 will have an SRP of $149.99, the SC-HC25 will have an SRP of $99.99, and the SC-HC05 will have an SRP of $179.99.

Panasonic Announces Pricing and Availability for New Blu-ray 3D Home Theater Systems

SECAUCUS, N.J., March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Panasonic, a leader in Full HD 3D technology, today announced pricing of its new Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc(TM) home theater systems which employ advanced technologies to reproduce immersive 3D with superb picture quality, cinema-like surround sound and boast 3D Effect Controller, Universal Dock for iPod®/iPhone®  and Skype(TM)(1) compatibility. All models from entry-level up feature built-in WiFi connectivity.

The new models, SC-BTT770, SC-BTT370 and SC-BTT270 deliver advanced sound quality that complements the dynamic 3D images. Based on the concept of reproducing an ideal cinema-like surround sound environment, Panasonic's proprietary technology, called Cinema Surround Plus, compensates for the lack of a surround effect to provide natural smooth surround sound and offers an enhanced surround effect from above and around.

Featuring Panasonic's renowned Full HD 3D Playback, the new systems not only deliver powerful 3D images with dramatic effects, enhanced depth, luster and texture, but allow the user to tailor the image display as desired. The 3D Effect Controller adjusts the amount of the depth effect for more expansive images and enables the viewer to enjoy 3D movies with exactly the preferred level of 3D effects.

For space-saving elegance, the sleek, ultra-slim main component measures only a mere 1.5 inches high. The systems are designed to ideally match a flat panel display. The new table-top design of the SC-BTT370 offers easy set-up and will add style to any home setting.

The SC-BTT770 is equipped with rear wireless speakers and wireless kit so there is no need for unsightly wires across the room.  The SC-BTT370 is wireless-ready and can be upgraded to provide wireless rear audio with the addition of the optional SH-FX71 wireless kit for rear speakers ($129.95).

The top two models SC-BTT770 and SC-BTT370 feature VIERA CAST(TM) with Skype(TM) a new function which allows users to connect with friends and family around the world on any compatible TV.  And when they are not home, a convenient Auto Answering Video Message feature answers incoming calls and records video voicemail messages.

Models SC-BTT770 and SC-BTT370 include a down-firing subwoofer, which achieves powerful bass by releasing the sound downward from the speaker unit and port and utilizes the sound reflected from the floor. These models are equipped with one HDMI output and two HDMI inputs with Standby Pass through for HD and 3D gaming and set-top box connections. Since they feature a Standby Pass Through function, signals from the connected devices can pass through the unit even when the home theater system is turned off.

All of the home theater systems feature Audio Return Channel (ARC*), which makes it possible to receive audio signals from the TV, on top of the preexisting HDMI function of sending audio/video signals to the TV with just one cable. This feature simplifies connection by eliminating the audio cable connection between the TV audio output and the main unit's audio input.

All of the new systems feature a Universal Dock for iPod/iPhone** which employs a digital connection to minimize sound degradation. This lets the user play music and video downloads and enjoy high quality sound from an iPod/iPhone.

The new models boast improved easy-to-use features, such as an internal wireless LAN system so IP content, such as VIERA CAST(2)  and BD-Live, can be enjoyed without having a LAN cable*** connection. VIERA CAST has been further enhanced with CinemaNow and Vudu, allowing viewers to stream movies. Other content can also be accessed from the special VIERA CAST screen to check weather, stocks and other information.

Panasonic's Blu-ray 3D home theater systems bring a new dimension to home entertainment and will be available in April 2011. The SC-BTT770 will carry a suggested retail price (SRP) of $599.99.  The SC-BTT370 will have an SRP of $499.99, and the SC-BTT270 will have an SRP of $399.99.

(1) Skype video calling requires access to a broadband Internet connection as well as a Skype-compatible camera available from Panasonic, sold separately, to make video calls.

(2) Not all VIERA CAST features are available on both VIERA Connect-enabled VIERA® HDTVs and VIERA CAST-enabled Blu-ray Disc(TM) players due to specific requirements necessary to activate certain applications.  Specific app availabilities and compatibilities will be announced at a later date. Access to a broadband Internet connection is required to access VIERA CAST features. There is no fee to use the VIERA CAST functionality however some VIERA CAST services such as Netflix and Amazon VOD have a separate fee structure.

* An ARC compatible TV is required.

***A wireless LAN environment is required.

National Instruments Expands the NI Wireless Sensor Network Platform

New WSN Gateway and Measurement Node Extend Communication and Measurement Capabilities

AUSTIN, Texas, March 1, 2011/PRNewswire/ -- National Instruments (Nasdaq: NATI) today announced two new products that extend the communication and measurement capabilities of the NI wireless sensor network (WSN) platform. The new NI 9792 is a programmable WSN gateway that can communicate with NI WSN measurement nodes as well as other hardware through a variety of open communication standards. The gateway combines an NI LabVIEW Real-Time controller and an integrated WSN radio so that LabVIEW Real-Time applications can run locally on the gateway to aggregate data from NI WSN devices, making the NI 9792 ideal for embedded, wireless data-logging applications. Additionally, the new NI WSN-3226 voltage/resistance temperature detector (RTD) combination node extends the measurement capabilities of the NI WSN platform to include support for resistance-based measurements such as RTDs and potentiometers and provides engineers and scientists the ability to combine voltage and temperature measurements on a single NI WSN device.

The NI 9792 gateway, which is programmable with the LabVIEW Real-Time Module for stand-alone operation, features a high-performance 533 MHz processor and 2 GB of onboard storage for embedded data-logging applications. The new gateway also features integrated Web (HTTP) and file (FTP) servers, which makes it possible for remote access to measurement data from thin client devices such as smartphones and mobile computers. The NI 9792 includes an RS232 serial port and dual Ethernet ports to provide flexible connectivity to other devices such as enterprise-level networks or wired I/O systems. With this flexibility, engineers and scientists can create a complete wired and wireless measurement solution to meet various application needs.

The new WSN-3226 measurement node adds resistance-based measurements to the NI WSN platform and features four analog input channels that can be configured on a per-channel basis for +/- 10 V measurements or resistive measurements. The new measurement node provides engineers and scientists the flexibility to choose between high-speed and high-resolution analog input modes on the device, optimizing the power and performance trade-offs for their applications. The WSN-3226 also features two bidirectional digital channels that can be configured on a per-channel basis for input, sinking output or sourcing output. Additionally, the measurement node can be powered by four AA batteries, with an operational lifetime of up to three years, or externally powered with a 5 to 30 V supply, which offers improved efficiency for energy harvesting applications.

Using the LabVIEW WSN Module Pioneer, engineers and scientists can customize the behavior of the WSN-3226 by adding intelligence to extend battery life, increase analog and digital input performance, perform local control, analysis and data reduction and interface with custom sensors. Additionally, the latest version of NI WSN software, NI WSN 1.2, provides support for WSN-3226, along with other features including faster firmware updates, more accurate data timestamping and automatic I/O variable deployment. The software also delivers Web-based configuration of the NI 9792 gateway, eliminating the need for application software to configure and set up a WSN.

Intel Completes Eating McAfee

Poster: Aron Schatz
Posted on March 1, 2011 at 9:44:56 AM
McAfee will live on as a wholly owned company of Intel. McAfee will continue to produce security software, but Intel is planning on doing more with the company.

Quote

As a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel, McAfee will become part of the company's Software and Services Group, run by senior vice president Renee James. McAfee president Dave DeWalt will report directly to James.

McAfee will continue to offer its own branded line of security products and maintain its own customers. The two companies said they're prepping the "first fruits" of their partnership to hit the market later this year.

The need for greater security across a greater array of devices was the driving force behind Intel's bid to pick up McAfee.

Pointing to the growing number of connected devices, from PCs to mobile phones to TVs to medical devices, the two companies have said that today's approach to security isn't enough. And with the mounting threat of cyberattacks, a new security framework that combines hardware, software, and services is needed.

GamersFirst Announces APB Reloaded Closed Beta

The Highly Anticipated Fast-Action MMOTPS; Re-launches As Free2Play(TM) Game

SAN FRANCISCO and IRVINE, Calif., March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Game Developer's Conference - GamersFirst (http://www.gamersfirst.com), one of today's most popular Free2Play® MMO publishers, and Reloaded Productions, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of GamersFirst, announce the highly anticipated Closed Beta of APB Reloaded (APBR), a Free2Play action-based Massively, Multiplayer, Online, Third Person Shooter Game (MMOTPS).

"Our vision is to evolve the original APB game into the best AAA production-value Free2Play MMO shooter in the market today by carefully incorporating gamer feedback in the creative process," says Joshua Hong, CEO of GamersFirst. "We plan to turn this game into a genuinely engaging experience by honoring, respecting and involving the community during all stages of this game's evolution."

"We took a chance on a pretty controversial franchise when we decided to invest in this game, and now we are looking forward to getting the first wave of gamer feedback on all the changes the team has made during the past several months," says Bjorn Book-Larsson, COO& CTO of GamersFirst and the head of GamersFirst studio subsidiary Reloaded Productions. "The whole team has done an amazing job creating a brand new experience from the ashes of the original All Points Bulletin, and our mission is now to ensure gamers get more long term enjoyment with each new game update as we head toward live service. You might even say that our Free2Play(TM) model only works as long as players really think it is 'Fun-To-Pay' for experience-enhancing activities and in-game upgrades."

"This has been a long time in coming for us and we couldn't be more excited," says Jon-Enee "Neume" Merriex, Producer of APB Reloaded. "Fans have been chomping at the bit to get back in to continue their amazingly customized journey toward San Paro dominance, and we're one step closer to making that a reality. This game is jam-packed with new experiences, fun, fighting and flagrant use of the F-word."

APB Reloaded is a faster, freer evolution of the original third person shooter game, noted for its remarkable character, vehicle and clothing customizations. Players can side with vigilante Enforcers or anarchist Criminals battling for dominance in the modern-day, fictional city of San Paro, in a very unique online game experience.

Major Game Changes

--  All vehicles have been greatly improved and redesigned.
--  The "starter" vehicles have been replaced by new, better looking and
        easier to control vehicles.
--  Weapons have had their damage increased considerably.
--  Upgrades have been grouped into 10 types. Upgrades of the same type do
        not stack.
--  Contacts have been split into Weapon or Vehicle contacts. Their rewards
        have also been split accordingly.
--  Roles have been re-vamped to support progression.
--  New anti-hacking measures have been put into place.
--  The Control Scheme has been revamped.

Premium and the Armas Underground

--  The basic Premium and Free2Play settings are now in-game. Players can
"promote" their account to premium for free during the Closed Beta.
--  Added tutorials explaining upgrades, equipment and groups.
--  Customization limits have been added for Free2Play players. These do not
        affect the character creator.
--  Leased weapons added, which will be random rewards initially, until

Can you see us now? Newest video processors from TI transform the video experience with 3x greater HD video processing performance

-- Industry's highest performance video engine enables a near-zero latency, life-like communication experience for multi-user HD conferencing

-- Integrated chip with ARM® and DSP cores and video and graphics accelerators processes three 1080p60 fps streams simultaneously to enable new applications and intuitive user interfaces

DALLAS, March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) expands its DaVinci(TM) digital media processor platform by introducing its high-performance TMS320DM8168 DaVinci digital media processor and the software compatible, power-efficient TMS320DM8148 DaVinci digital media processor.  With these industry-leading video processors, TI is helping provide life-like video communications to bring people together, increase public safety, enable real-time automotive vision systems to support safer driving, deliver the highest-quality entertainment to consumers and more.

--  The high-performance DM8168 DaVinci digital media processor offers three
times the video streaming capability over competing solutions with up to
three simultaneous 1080p60 frames per second (fps) video streams, 12
simultaneous 720p30 fps video streams or a combination of lower
resolution streams.  This enables customers to build video-centric
systems that capture, encode, decode and analyze multiple video streams
simultaneously on up to three independent displays.  It also
concurrently allows customers to differentiate their products with
advanced analytics capabilities.  It is ideal for multi-channel HD video
surveillance systems, video conferencing systems, media hubs and servers
        and video broadcasting systems.
--  The lower-power DM8148 DaVinci digital media processor offers a single,
high-performance, 1080p60 fps video stream, three simultaneous 720p30
fps video streams or multiple lower resolution streams at 3 watts. It
also includes cutting-edge display and analytics capabilities, similar
to the DM8168 DaVinci digital media processor, and it's perfect for
power-sensitive, consumer and medical video applications requiring fewer
video streams.  These applications include Skype(TM) video cameras,
interactive digital signage, video surveillance DVRs or IP net cams,
streaming media players and network projectors.

Easy product migrationoptions between the DM8168 digital media processor to the power-efficient, software compatible DM8148 digital media processor allow customers to create multiple, unique products quickly and easily within the DaVinci digital media platform, utilizing TI's EZ software development kit (SDK), allowing software code reuse and customization via a single software investment.  Customers can also use the same EZ SDK from TI for applications not needing video processing to migrate to the pin-for-pin compatible Sitara(TM) ARM® MPU or the C6-Integra(TM) DSP + ARM platforms to further leverage a single hardware and software investment.

"The world wants HD video on every device imaginable, and we are prepared to provide it to them," said Niels Anderskouv, vice president, Digital Signal Processing Systems, TI.  "In the future, Facebook will no longer be the primary means of connecting with people virtually.  TI is an integral part of the technology innovations that will further bring people together - with real-time video conferencing today and 3D video and gesturing technologies tomorrow."

"Quality, life-like video experiences are revolutionizing communications, enriching the entertainment experience and changing the view of video as a productivity tool," said Jim McGregor, chief technology strategist at In-Stat.  "The advancements TI is making in video will enable many of the applications we will come to expect on all devices in the future, such as 3D, augmented reality and mind-blowing gaming.  Because video processing is becoming a key differentiator for both system-on-chips and discrete solutions, TI is developing its own proprietary video technology, which will help distinguish TI from competing solutions."

AnalogicTech Launches Small, Quiet, Serial, Step-Up LED Backlight Drivers for Handheld Devices

AAT14XX Family Has Filtered PWM and Integrated Current Sink to Increase Efficiency, Power and Flexibility

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Advanced Analogic Technologies, Inc. (AnalogicTech(TM)) (Nasdaq: AATI), an analog semiconductor company focused on powering innovative solutions in consumer, industrial, and communications markets, today introduced the AAT14XX family of 31 mA step-up single-channel light-emitting diode (LED) drivers capable of driving up to 10 LEDs in a single string. The drivers' small size and quiet operation make them ideal LED backlight solutions for single cell Lithium-ion battery-based equipment, including mobile and smart phones, MP3 players, portable media players (PMPs) and portable navigation device-type applications with larger screens.

(Logo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20050829/SFTU089LOGO)

The AAT14XX family enables larger displays, allows higher efficiencies and offers filtered pulse-width modulation (PWM) dimming to eliminate interference with the radios in cell phones and other handheld devices. With a 1.15 x 1.55 mm wafer-level chip scale package (WLCSP) size, the devices require only 0.7 cm(2)( )of space on a printed circuit board, making them one of the smallest solutions available.

"The requirements and features for optimal backlight power management are constantly evolving in tandem with the growth of the LED market," said Roger Smullen, Director, Strategic Marketing at AnalogicTech. "The AAT14XX family brings to market one of the smallest solutions for serial LED drivers, strengthening our portfolio for handheld devices. These new products add new capabilities to our comprehensive LED offerings, which are rapidly encompassing a broad range of end products ranging from handheld devices to tablets to televisions."

LED brightness is controlled in one of three ways: 32 dimming steps using the S(2)Cwire(TM) interface and filtered or direct PWM control. PWM dimming frequency of 100 KHz eliminates audible noise and is compatible with content adaptive brightness control (CABC) to further reduce backlight power consumption by up to 50 percent.

The major source of power drain in portable systems with displays is the backlight in a liquid crystal display (LCD) screen. The AAT14XX family addresses this with three dimming controls, and an integrated precision, high voltage current sink that provides maximum flexibility in adjusting LED current from 10 to 31 mA regardless of the number of series LEDs. This approach achieves a high efficiency of 88 percent, significantly more than that offered by traditional LED drivers that use a ballast resistor.

The family consists of four parts: the AAT1410 drives up to 4 series LEDs at 31mA, the AAT1401 up to 6, the AAT1402 up to 8 and the AAT1403 up to 10. The devices support a voltage input range of 2.7 to 5.5 V, include over-temperature protection, programmable over-voltage protection, open LED protection and automatic recovery when the fault conditions are removed. The AAT14XX family is available in a 10-pin WLCSP package that is 80 percent smaller than a SOT23 package and 55 percent smaller than a 2 x 2 QFN package. The devices are rated over the -40 degree C to +85 degree C temperature range.

The AAT1401 is priced at US$0.36 @10K units. For others, contact AnalogicTech or its distributors. The 14xx family is currently shipping.

Bigfoot Networks Killer(TM) Wireless-N Adapters Deliver Breakthrough Wi-Fi(R) Performance for Notebooks

CeBIT - HANOVER, Germany, March 1, 2011/PRNewswire/ --

    - Killer(TM) Wireless-N Pushes Boundaries of Wi-Fi(R) for Online Games,
HD Video and High-Quality Audio

Bigfoot Networks, the technology company behind the Killer(TM) line of
networking products for online games, today introduced the new Killer(TM)
Wireless-N family of high-performance Wi-Fi(R) adapters. Leveraging Bigfoot
Networks' exclusive Killer(TM) Wireless Technology and the latest 802.11n
features, Killer Wireless-N adapters perform up to five times faster[1] than
competing products. Killer Wireless-N adapters combine superior wireless
networking speed with powerful intelligence and control to deliver an optimal
experience for online games, HD video and high-quality audio. This results in
unprecedented wireless networking capabilities for today's notebook user.

Killer Wireless-N adapters are designed to fulfill consumers' growing
appetite for online gaming, on-demand media and other time-sensitive
applications. Recent studies forecast that worldwide consumer Internet
traffic related to online gaming, IP communications, online video and audio
will grow 500% by 2014[2]. 47.5 million people already play online games in
the United States[3], and online video viewing is up 45% over last year[4].
Skype, meanwhile, expects users to spend 190 billion minutes per year on
online communications, with 40% of those calls using video[5].

The popularity of online applications is pushing existing network
solutions to the limit, which results in freezing, stuttering, lower-quality
audio and video and a generally poor user experience. Killer Wireless-N
adapters tackle these challenges with technology Bigfoot Networks perfected
for the demanding and competitive PC gaming market.

"Popular online applications like gaming, Voice over IP (VoIP) and HD
video are some of the most sensitive to latency and packet loss over Wi-Fi
connections," said Bigfoot Networks CEO Michael Howse. "With our innovative
networking technology and advanced 802.11n hardware, Killer Wireless-N
adapters not only accelerate performance for online games, they also reduce
stuttering, excessive buffering and other annoyances in video chat and
on-demand entertainment services. You can watch Internet TV, listen to
streaming music or play a first-person shooter while downloading a huge

ITIS Delivers New Traffic Information Service Using Anonymised Signal Data From Over 17 Million Mobile Devices for Navigation Systems in Germany

ITIS Delivers New Traffic Information Service Using Anonymised Signal Data From Over 17 Million Mobile Devices for Navigation Systems in Germany

MUNICH, March 1, 2011/PRNewswire/ --     Get where you're going quicker with ITIS in partnership with
Telefonica O2Germany: It is now possible to analyse and predict traffic flows
on streets much more precisely. To achieve this, anonymised mobile location
data from the O2 network will be supplied to ITIS, a world-leader in
traffic-processing technology who will use proprietary and patented processes
to generate high quality speed and flow information across all roads in
Germany. The BMW Group will be the first carmaker to use the new
PrecisionTraffic(TM) technology in its vehicles as part of their pan European
traffic service which was awarded to MILE Traffic and Travel GmbH of which
ITIS is a shareholder.

Standard navigation devices are already using the traffic
message channel (TMC), which transmits traffic jam reports to them via FM
frequencies. Up until now, however, such information came from GPS, fixed
sensors, police reports, or individuals who voluntarily reported on the
traffic. The disadvantage of such sources is they do not provide enough data
to create the accurate traffic information service the German driver demands.

ITIS PrecisionTraffic(TM) in partnership with O2 overcomes those
limitations. Using anonymous signalling data generated at the network level,
over 17 million probes are used in the new service. As a result, traffic
congestion can be detected as it happens. Because the traffic information is
transmitted in real time, the best possible detour can be recommended to
every driver. The new system can be tried out in all new BMW models starting
in September. Additional customers are expected to follow later on.

Cellular data provides far greater coverage than any other
data source including GPS and fixed sensor data. More roads are covered with
far higher accuracy and the information is available far quicker than any
other source. "This is a huge advantage over navigation devices that do not
use our data," said Johannes Pruchnow, Managing Director Business at
Telefonica O2 Germany.

Because O2 considers the location information to be
confidential customer data, the entire system was scrutinised and approved by
Germany's federal authorities for data protection. Continuous anonymisation
and encryption algorithms that change regularly make it impossible to draw
inferences from individual customer information.

"ITIS is excited to be partnering with Telefonica O2 to launch
our PrecisionTraffic(TM) service in Germany which complements our leading
service in the UK" said Stuart Marks, Chief Executive of ITIS Holdings plc,
the parent company of ITIS Deutschland GmbH. "We believe that we can offer
German drivers the best traffic information service available based on ten
years of investment and R&D in the use of cellular data."

ITIS PrecisionTraffic(TM) will be available in Q2 2011 and is
targeted at carmakers, navigation software suppliers and the public sector
such as local and federal government.

ITIS is exhibiting at this year's Cebit Exhibition in
Hannover. Visit them in Hall 7, Stand C28/9. You can find additional
information about ITIS on http://www.itisholdings.com.

You can find additional information about O2's Financial &
Enabling Services at http://traffic.de.o2.com.

    Notes to Editors:

The members of MILE are ITIS, Mediamobile (part of the TDF
Group) and Infoblu (part of Atlantia/Autostrade Group) who are the leading
traffic information providers respectively in the UK, France and Italy. MILE
was formed to combine expertise, technology and local knowledge in the
respective markets and will make the new pan-European traffic service
available under the Precision Traffic brand which is already operating
successfully in the UK. All three companies have worked with the BMW Group
since 2002 and in that time have built up a deep understanding of its
requirements.

Verizon Expands Support for Next-Generation Internet Protocol Across Dedicated Internet Services

Verizon Expands Support for Next-Generation Internet Protocol Across Dedicated Internet Services

Businesses and Government Agencies Can Now Send IPv6 Traffic Across Verizon Internet Dedicated Services in the U.S., Europe and Asia-Pacific

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- To help business and government agencies continue to experience uninterrupted Internet service, Verizon has enabled its Internet Dedicated Services to carry traffic using the next-generation Internet protocol, IPv6.  As a result, Verizon Internet Dedicated Access customers can immediately rely on the world's most connected Internet backbone network to handle their IPv6 traffic, across the U.S., Europe and Asia-Pacific.

Verizon's global Internet services are among the first to be able to accept IPv6 data in several formats, including "native" or pure IPv6; "dual stack," which can handle IPv4 and IPv6 concurrently; and IPv6 traffic within IPv4 packets, which is known as "tunneling."  The company later this year will continue to roll out IPv6 capabilities across Canada and Latin America as well as on its global Private IP service, an MPLS-based (multiprotocol label switching) virtual private network.

"This is another important milestone for the Verizon public IP backbone, our customers and the global Internet community," said Farooq Muzzafar, vice president of public and private IP communications solutions for Verizon.  "As an early proponent and adopter of IPv6, we want to help ensure the Internet continues to deliver on its promise to keep us all connected to each other and to the information that sustains and enriches our everyday life at work, at home and everywhere in between."

(Listen to an audio podcast, featuring Chris Kimm, vice president, Verizon network field operations in Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific, to learn more about the business opportunities associated with IPv6.)

The current Internet address system, Internet Protocol version 4, or IPv4, which has been in place since the 1980s, is about to run out of addresses.  According to the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, IPv6 will open up a pool of billions of Internet addresses that is "virtually inexhaustible."

As a result of the transition to the new IPv6 protocol, 2011 will be an important transitional year for Verizon and other top Internet players to ready the Internet on a global basis.  In addition, the new protocol will provide opportunities for organizations to employ advanced technology, including machine-to-machine (M2M) communications.

Since 1998, Verizon has been rolling out IPv6 capabilities, beginning with the very high speed backbone network service (vBNS), to meet increasing customer requirements.

Verizon offers professional consulting services to help businesses and government agencies around the world take appropriate steps to prepare for a seamless transition to IPv6.  Verizon's IPv6 Transition Professional Services are designed to help organizations navigate through the complexity to assess, plan and implement IPv6 readiness across their global extended enterprise systems.

In addition, ICSA Labs, an independent division of Verizon, was one of the first private testing laboratories to become accredited to provide testing services for the USGv6 Program. The program, developed at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, sets the standards that must be met by hardware and software products offered for sale to the federal government.

Verizon is a global leader in driving better business outcomes for mid-sized and large enterprises and government agencies.  Verizon combines integrated communications and IT solutions and professional services expertise with high-IQ global IP and mobility networks to enable businesses to securely access information, share content and communicate.  Verizon is rapidly transforming to a cloud-based 'everything-as-a-service' delivery model that will put the power of enterprise-grade solutions within the reach of every business.  Find out more at http://www.verizonbusiness.com.

Make Technologies(R) Enterprise Suite Introduced to IT Modernization Marketplace

Make Technologies(R) Enterprise Suite Introduced to IT Modernization Marketplace

Innovative solution to reduce custom code in enterprise legacy
portfolios while keeping businesses agile

VANCOUVER, March 1 /PRNewswire/ - Make Technologies® Inc. is proud to introduce
the Make Technologies® Enterprise Suite, an end-to-end solution for
application portfolio modernization. Customers can expect to
dramatically reduce the amount of custom code in their legacy portfolio
without changing workflows or the way they run their business.

The Make Technologies® Enterprise Suite is built on top of Transformational Legacy Modernization (TLM®), the company's proven modernization platform. TLM® is fit-for-purpose software guided by a mature methodology and
supported by the best practices of our modernization experts.

The Make Technologies® Enterprise Suite allows customers to build a
pragmatic application roadmap that is closely aligned with the
strategic initiatives of its business, based on strong data points such
as code dependencies and application usage patterns. The result is a
marked reduction in code maintenance, giving CXOs the freedom to pay
more attention to essential business matters while gaining a
competitive edge in their industry.

"The challenge with all organizations is their ability to do more with
less and in a resource-constrained environment companies are finding it
challenging to support and maintain legacy applications and
simultaneously innovate.  As noted in Forrester's Enterprise and SMB
Software Survey, North America and Europe, Q42008 showed that a fairly
stunning change has taken place in IT leaders' plans and priorities.
Application modernization supplanted the hot topics of prior years:
eBusiness, Agile, Lean, cloud, etc.  In fact the three most important
software initiatives for IT decision-makers all focused on application
modernization: 1) update/ modernization legacy applications; 2) upgrade
enterprise applications; and 3) consolidate or rationalize enterprise
applications.  The data highlights a sharp turn in IT leader's
thinking; They have come to realize that streamlining bloated
application portfolios is no longer an optional activity.  Rather,
modernization is the best new opportunity to cut waste on low-value
applications and thus free the corresponding resources for new projects
and innovation."  April 26, 2010 Forrester Report.(1)

Make Technologies® Enterprise Suite allows businesses to:

--  Lower the cost of application maintenance by lowering the
amount of custom code and creating an easy to maintain
            application.
--  Maximize the speed and quality of implementation with
            state-of-the-art, integrated tools supporting collaboration,
analysis, code generation and data migration.
--  Controlthe output quality continuously throughout
            the engagement.
--  Verify the functional completeness of the modernized
            applications.

"As legacy systems continue to age and the speed of business continues
to increase, the need to modernize enterprise-level IT is at a record
high," said Bill Bergen, CEO of Make Technologies Inc. "Many companies
are investing millions of dollars into a modernization project and
cannot afford setbacks or failure. Organizations are looking to
understand what they own - to quantify the business value and
maintenance of their applications so as to devise a rational plan for
streamlined modernization efforts. Make Technologies® Enterprise Suite
ensures complete project success through its combined software,
methodology, and best practices."

Low-profile, High-performance, 4-port RFID Reader Offers Extreme Utility Across Indoor and Outdoor Applications

SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Trimble (Nasdaq: TRMB) introduced today the ThingMagic® Mercury6 (M6) 4-port, multiprotocol RFID reader as the latest addition to its RFID product family. The M6 is based on the ThingMagic M6e embedded RFID reader module and operates with the ThingMagic MercuryAPI, providing OEMs, VARs and end users with high-performance RFID and a common programming interface for enterprise RFID solution development.

Building on the ease of use, reliability and enterprise-grade performance ThingMagic products are known for, the M6 offers a low-profile form factor, rugged service operating capabilities and the industry's highest transmit power for a Power over Ethernet (PoE) capable reader. These features make the M6 well suited for enterprise, commercial and industrial environments where high performance in a wide range of operating conditions is required.

Key features include:

--  Small form factor - Dimensions of 3.4 cm (Height) x 19.0 cm (Length) x
17.8 cm (Width) allow for the integration of enterprise-grade RFID into
low profile portals, read stations, displays and a variety of other
indoor and outdoor structures and environments.

--  Power over Ethernet - Power over Ethernet (PoE) support provides ease of
installation and low total cost of ownership.
--  Wi-Fi network connectivity - An integrated Wi-Fi network option provides
low cost integration with existing enterprise Wi-Fi networks and Wi-Fi
        security standards.

"Providing customers with superior, high-performance auto-identification and data collection solutions is our primary business objective. In order to succeed, we need to partner with technology providers whose products are reliable, scalable, and easy to deploy," said Robert Fuqua, president and CEO, Atlas RFID. "The ThingMagic M6 delivers the performance and versatility that is required for our varied client environments and key markets, including construction, workforce and organizational planning and automotive manufacturing. We're excited about the new opportunities the M6 will bring Atlas RFID and the market as a whole."

Further simplifying solution development, the M6 is available with the ThingMagic MercuryAPI which includes high-level developer interfaces in Java and C#. This application programming interface - available on all ThingMagic fixed and embedded RIFD readers - provides customers with a common platform with which to develop highly complementary RFID-enabled products based on the company's broad portfolio of RFID reader technology.

"As the market evolves from the use of one-size-fits-all RFID readers toward highly integrated solutions, ThingMagic continues to broaden its portfolio of RFID readers and development tools to serve established and emerging customer needs," said Tom Grant, general manager of Trimble's ThingMagic Division. "The addition of the Mercury6 to our product line allows our customers to continue to develop and deliver innovative RFID solutions in a variety of form factors across several markets poised for significant growth."

The M6 list price is US$1,395 for the Power over Ethernet model and US$1,545 for the Integrated Wi-Fi model. The M6 is available now. To place orders, please contact ThingMagic sales at: sales@thingmagic.com or +1-866-833-4069. International dialers call +1 617-499-4090.

GamersFirst Announces First Unity 3D - Based MMORPG, Hailan Rising

Free2Play MMO Publisher Releases Debut Title

SAN FRANCISCO and IRVINE, Calif., March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Game Developer's Conference - GamersFirst announces Reloaded Productions' first wholly developed MMO title, Hailan Rising; in partnership with Glass Egg and Mixamo, "Hailan Rising."

"Hailan Rising" will be the industry's first full scale PVP-based Fantasy MMORPG developed in Unity 3D and using the Mixamo.com animation system.

Players will find themselves as survivors in the post-apocalyptic fantasy world of Hailan, just as the massive flood waters that destroyed the world are receding. Players must choose to play as one of eight character classes and choose a nation to which they will pledge their allegiance. Battle between the nations force players to defend their realmin a PvP packed MMORPG played out on land, at sea and in the air.

Hailan Rising removes the traditional 'leveling' system and replaces it with an FPS style system of advancement. Players must power up individual combat abilities while learning new abilities from other classes.

Main features of the title include:

--  The Etherea System(TM) - Players can learn any ability from classes that
        are foreign to their own.
--  No Item Limitations - Any player may equip themselves with any item or
weapon, regardless of which of the eight classes they choose to play.
--  Large-Scale PVP - Open World PVP between hundreds of players can take
        place at any moment.

"This is an MMORPG like no other we have seen in the market," says Bjorn Book-Larsson, COO & CTO of GamersFirst and the head of GamersFirst studio subsidiary Reloaded Productions. "We have created a title that combines the best features from several MMO genres, added new technologies from Mixamo and Unity, at the same time we have worked to eliminate some of the most criticized components of MMORPGs to come up with what we believe is a great new game experience."

"I have always dreamt of creating a game that can balance grinding with instant action, in a game system that preserves both long-term leveling while letting players enjoy instant balanced PvP combat at every turn," says Adam 'CaliMaestro' Smith, Producer for Hailan Rising. "We hope that with Hailan Rising we have created something truly unique for the avid PvP and trading-focused MMO-RPG fan."

Hailan Rising will initially be launched throughout North America, Turkey and Europe as a Free2Play(TM) title, with an expected closed beta appearing in Q3 2011.

SEATTLE and EUGENE, Ore., March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint business customers can now pay for NetMotion Wireless Mobility XE mobile VPN software via their Sprint bills, allowing them to pay a monthly fee for the software rather than a licensing charge on laptops, PDAs and smartphones using Microsoft Windows.

"This program provides us with easy access to NetMotion Wireless," said Kris VerVaeren, Commander of Operations, Ashwaubenon Public Safety. "We are able to add on licenses and immediately realize the productivity benefits of the software."

Siemens Enterprise Communications and Enterasys Networks Announce Broad Range of Cloud Wireless Solutions

Joint Offerings Provide Customer Choice and Flexibility, Including Premise-based, Cloud-based, and Managed Wireless Offerings

ANDOVER, Mass., March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Enterasys Networks, a Siemens Enterprise Communications company, today announced a portfolio of solutions designed to offer customers flexible options for implementing and managing enterprise cloud wireless solutions, with new options for premise-based, cloud-based, and managed offerings. Today's announcement includes the following: private cloud capabilities for deploying a globally distributed wireless infrastructure, managed services for out-tasking and outsourcing key functions of the wireless network, and enhanced integrated wired/wireless network management visibility and control capabilities.

"The explosion of connected devices, applications and user mobility demands, coupled with increasingly complex deployment scenarios for both wired and wireless networks, is straining IT and driving up TCO," said Chris Crowell, president and CEO of Enterasys Networks. "With today's announcement, we are enabling our customers to choose a wireless deployment model that best fits the needs of their business - whether that is through deploying and managing wireless in the cloud, outsourcing or out-tasking key wireless network management functions, or enabling wireless management on-the-go via a mobile device."

OpenScale Managed Services: Augment Internal IT Staff to Manage Wireless Networks

Enterprises are increasingly looking for managed service options for wireless deployments due to scarcity of internal IT expertise and resources. OpenScale Managed Services provide customers with a global and affordable option to outsource the management of their WLAN infrastructure to specialized and skilled resources. Customers around the world have adopted a managed service approach to deploying and managing their Enterasys wireless infrastructure, including:

communications platform with wireless hotspots and unified
communications, the airport will have one of the largest WLANs in
Europe. Leveraging OpenScale Managed Services, the company aims to

savings since adopting Siemens Enterprise Communications managed
services in 1999. Its WLAN covers more than three million square feet in
        40 buildings.
--  NurnbergMesse (Germany) - The international trade fair organizer
concentrates on its core business while providing modern IP
communications to its exhibitors. Via managed services, the
communications infrastructure including WLAN, OpenScape UC Server and
several thousand voice and data ports are managed simply and reliably.
--  UNISUL (Brazil) - As one of the most technologically-driven universities
in Brazil, UNISUL leverages OpenScale Managed Services to
cost-effectively provide students and employees complete WLAN
infrastructure and OpenScape Voice and UC applications to become the
first Latin American university to benefit from WLAN security and
        management features.

"The Brussels Airport Company is quickly gaining a state-of-the-art communications infrastructure - including one of Europe's largest wireless networks," said Pierre Gehrenbeck, Telecommunication Manager of The Brussels Airport Company.  "Using the Managed Service framework and partnering with Siemens Enterprise Communications, we are using an outsourced approach to take service delivery and innovation to the next level.  Furthermore, with reduced system maintenance needs and faster resolution of incidents, we have rolled out a more cost effective solution that will enable our IT staff to focus on more strategic initiatives."
