SECAUCUS, N.J., June 1 -- Today, Panasonic introduced the LUMIX G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 lens, the H-F008, with a 35mm camera equivalent 16mm lens, the world's smallest and lightest* digital interchangeable fisheye lens compatible with the LUMIX G Series, DSL Micro (DSLM) cameras.
Featuring a 180-degree diagonal angle view, the LUMIX G Fisheye 8mm/F3.5 lens offers a distinctive perspective and unique deformation effect, creating a creative view for both photos and video. Additionally, its compact size can be attributed to its ten lenses in nine groups, which takes advantage of the Micro Four Thirds system standard to achieve dramatic downsizing.

The H-F008, Fisheye 8mm lens allows for use of the high-speed and accurate contrast AF system when mounted on the Panasonic LUMIX G Series DSLM cameras, for more comfortable and enjoyable shooting. Seven blades give the aperture a rounded shape that produces an attractively smooth effect in out-of-focus areas when shooting at larger aperture settings. The inclusion of a stepping motor allows for smooth and silent focusing in both photo and movie recording modes.

New LUMIX FX75 Records AVCHD Lite HD Video and Features a 24mm Wide-Angle, Bright Leica Lens to Capture High-Quality Still Photos
SECAUCUS, N.J., June 1 -- Panasonic announced today the new LUMIX DMC-FX75, a super-slim digital camera that packs big features, including a 24mm ultra-wide-angle F2.2 bright LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMICRON lens with 5x optical zoom, which can be used while shooting High Definition video. The slim and stylish LUMIX FX75, a 14.1-megapixel digital camera is one of Panasonic's high-performing hybrid models with the ability to not only take high-quality still photos, but can also record HD video in the AVCHD Lite format.

The LUMIX FX75 can record HD video in the AVCHD Lite format, which allows almost double the recording time in HD quality compared with the conventional Motion JPEG format. When recording in AVCHD Lite, the content is perfect for viewing on an HDTV, like a Panasonic VIERA Plasma. To complement the high-quality video, the LUMIX FX75 also features Dolby Digital Creator to record high quality audio. For those users who are recording HD video to view on a computer screen, they also have the option to record in Motion JPEG, as well as WVGA (848x480) and VGA (640x480).
The LUMIX FX75 adopts full touch-screen operation, which allows for Auto Focus (AF) to quickly be set to the subject by simply touching the large 3.0-inch 230,000-dot LCD. Also, the user can click onto a subject with a single touch, and the FX75 then tracks the subject with the AF tracking feature - even when moving. The touch-screen operation is fluid and smooth - whether in record or playback mode. While recording, once the frame is composed, users can simply touch the area they want focused before pressing the shutter button. In playback mode, users can drag the image across the screen with their finger to browse the collection of photos, as though it is a page in a book.
Panasonic's iA (Intelligent Auto) mode, a hallmark on all LUMIX digital cameras, is further advanced in the LUMIX FX75 with the addition of a new Motion Deblur mode*(1) by updating the motion detection (Intelligent ISO Control) and brightness control (Intelligent Exposure) to gain the highest shutter speed possible. Combined with the outstanding brightness of the lens and the POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), the LUMIX FX75 reduces blur created from handshake or the subject moving. The iA suite of technologies include: POWER O.I.S., Face Recognition, Face Detection, AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control, Intelligent Scene Selector and Intelligent Exposure - all which are engaged when in the iA mode. The Panasonic LUMIX FX75 features the Venus Engine HD II image processor, which helps assure superb image quality in both photo and video recording. It also incorporates Intelligent Resolution technology to perform the optimum signal processing based on the part of a picture to give a whole image outstanding, natural clearness with fine details. At the same time, the multi-task image-processing engine Venus Engine HD II supports a super-fast response time. The shutter release lag time is as short as approximately 0.005 of a second in 1-area AF, and the camera's quick response makes it easier to capture sudden, spur-of-the-moment photo opportunities together with the Sonic Speed AF.
With the Intelligent Resolution technology, three areas - outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation - are examined pixel by pixel and automatically detected to enhance any degradation created during the digital zoom process or in high-sensitivity shooting. The outline areas are enhanced effectively to give the edges more clarity, while simultaneously giving a moderate accent to the textured areas so they look accurately detailed. To soften gradation areas, such as a face, the increased noise reduction system of the Venus Engine HD II is applied to make it appear smoother. As a result of Intelligent Resolution, images are naturally clear and crisp in both photo and video recording. The Intelligent Resolution technology powers Panasonic's new Intelligent Zoom feature, which extends the camera's zoom ratio by approximately 1.3x while maintaining picture quality - and enhancing the digital zoom and making it comparable to the quality of an optical zoom. With Intelligent Zoom, the Panasonic FX75 can reach up to 6.5x.

Synaptics is showing the first, fully capable, multi-finger PC TouchPad-IS(TM) family of products, which can accurately recognize four-finger gestures (the PS/2 interface maximum), based on Synaptics' new Image Sensing Technology. The new TouchPad-IS platform, found in the Series 3 TouchPad's and ClickPads, also demonstrate SYNAPTICS | SmartSense(TM) technology, which prevents accidental activation of the cursor when a user's palm unintentionally contacts the TouchPad. This latest TouchPad development brings multi-finger capabilities of a touchscreen right onto the PC TouchPad.
Building on its ClickPad(TM) product launched at COMPUTEX 2009, Synaptics is demonstrating SYNAPTICS | ClickEQ(TM), the industry's first hinge-less uniform force, uniform click depth ClickPad mechanical design, which makes it easier for users to activate typical "button" actions. Addressing the exacting demands of smaller and standard notebook PC form factors, ClickPad eliminates the need for physical buttons -- the TouchPad is the button -- and provides a larger area for gestures.
In addition, the new Synaptics ClickPad features ClickSmart(TM) technology, which enables users to control the left and right button commands on their ClickPad universally. Users and OEMs are not burdened with having to select click usage behaviors. ClickSmart provides a new "universal" support mode that accommodates both traditional and modern user click behaviors.

The structure would be put in place from a vertical style deep water pipelaying vessel with dynamic positioning capabilities. An oil and gas separator at the surface is key to provide necessary product and pressure control.
The latest effort to stop the leak - the "Top Kill" - was stymied when BP inexplicably stopped pumping mud for some 16 hours. "Nothing is working. There is no real coordination of this massive effort, and BP has not been forthcoming with all the facts," Davis says. "Now is the time to explore new options."
Davis has assembled team of experts from around the world who are standing by to work with existing equipment in the area to stop the flow of thousands of barrels of oil.
"Give the green light, and I'll have this thing fixed in two weeks or less," says Davis.

BUFFALO, N.Y., May 28 -- Verizon Wireless is investing in Wyoming County and expanding its local coverage with a new cell site in Arcade. The new site improves coverage and capacity along Route 78 from Minkel Road to Pit Road, and in the Village of Java.
This network expansion is part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless' voice and data services. Audi and Xbox to Host 2nd Annual AXF-24 Challenge in New York City During 24 Hours of Le Mans Race
HERNDON, Va., May 28 -- In celebration of the annual 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France, Audi of America and Xbox/Turn 10 will again join forces to host the 2nd Annual AXF-24 Challenge, a four-hour Xbox LIVE Forza Motorsport 3 racing experience at the Audi Forum New York City on June 12, 2010 between 1 pm and 5 pm.
The first leg of AXF-24 Challenge opened with North American players on Xbox Live competing for the fastest lap times on the 24 Hours of Le Mans track: the Circuit de la Sarthe, while piloting the 2009 Audi #2 Audi Sport Team Joest R15 TDI. The three fastest drivers will be invited to compete in the AXF-24 Challenge on June 12th in New York City, which takes place while the real race takes place in France.
The 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race is held in Le Mans, France, on an 8.5-mile track made up mostly of public roads. It is considered one of the top three races in the world, along with the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500. This year will bring the 78th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race, which began in 1923 but was canceled for nine years during World War II. Audi has won eight of the last 10 years at Le Mans.
The top prize for the winning AXF-24 competitor will be a 1-day R8 Audi sports car experience package in Sonoma, CA.

MALVERN, Ohio, May 28 -- Verizon Wireless today announced it has completed the integration of its network with that of Alltel in Malvern to provide customers with clearer reception, fewer dropped calls and more coverage, including stronger in-building coverage.
Verizon Wireless' voice and high-speed 3G data network combined with that of Alltel creates the largest wireless network footprint in the United States. The integration in this area enables more customers to use their wireless phones concurrently to make calls; send and receive email and text, picture and video messages; access the Internet; view high-quality videos; and download music, games and ringtones on the nation's most reliable wireless network.
The coverage area directly affected by the network integration includes Alliance Road NW from just east of Malwayne Drive NW to the town of Hibbetts and from Avalon Road NW and Pleasant Road south to Navajo Trail along Lake Mohawk.

New Book Published Using The Natural Page(TM) is the First of Its Kind for the Kindle(TM)
NEW YORK, May 27 -- After nearly two years spent struggling with the Kindle's lack of traditional page numbering, users have a new option. A literary publishing company in New York has released the first book for the Kindle(TM) using what it calls "The Natural Page(TM)".
"The Natural Page(TM) is about 400 words in length, and roughly equivalent to an Executive size piece of paper," says L. Dore, Senior Editor of Forbidden Stitch Press located in Manhattan. "So if a reader were reading a traditional book which was single-spaced and with a 12 point font, they would see a page number at the bottom of each page. We took that to the Kindle and included page numbers where they would naturally occur."
The first of its kind for the Kindle(TM), "Spirit In The Sky", is now available for download from the Kindle Store(TM) for $9.95. It is a murder mystery about a fictional law firm set in Manhattan.
"As I understand it, there is a Kindle Page Numbers Tool which people can use to insert their own page numbers, but that seemed so cumbersome," continued Dore. "We decided to do the work and came up with the idea of The Natural Page(TM)."

Both Wood Brothers Racing and Tasca Racing will alter the paint schemes of their Ford race cars the race weekend of June 11-13, in conjunction with the public launch of the new FordParts.com website.
The Wood Brothers' famous No. 21 NASCAR Ford Fusion driven by Bill Elliott, and the Shelby Mustang NHRA Funny Car driven by Bob Tasca III will switch from their familiar red-and-white schemes to the new blue-and-white of FordParts.com.
The new, matching schemes will be seen in person by nearly 150,000 fans at Michigan International Speedway and Old Bridge Township Raceway in New Jersey, as well as millions more on TNT and ESPN, providing FordParts.com with a huge national audience to generate awareness of the new website.

Details Ultra-fast CMOS ADC Technology Breakthrough for Advanced Telecommunications Applications
SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 27 -- Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) today issued a technical paper entitled "The Fujitsu 56GSa/s Analog-to-Digital Converter Enables 100GbE Transport," describing the technology challenges involved in creating a long-haul 100Gbps optical transport network, and the enabling technology developed by Fujitsu for 100Gbps Ethernet and OTU-4 transport systems using coherent receivers.
The paper also describes the forces pushing towards a single-chip CMOS solution for a 100Gbps coherent receiver with four 56GSa/s Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) and a tera-OPS DSP that dissipates tens of watts. The paper concludes with details on Fujitsu's revolutionary CHArge-mode Interleaved Sampler technology (CHAIS), which allows the implementation of extremely fast, high-resolution ADCs in CMOS process technology.
