Defensive Driving by Improv(TM) Celebrates One-Year Milestone Offering Defensive Driving Course in New York
Improv, leading online provider of defensive driving courses, marks 300 percent growth with innovative release voiced by acclaimed actor-comedian Charles Fleischer
NEW YORK, May 24 -- Defensive Driving by Improv, the pioneer of defensive driving courses fueled with humor, today marked its one-year milestone as an approved provider in New York's DMV online program for Point and Insurance Reduction with the release of its audio-delivered, read-along option voiced by actor-comedian Charles Fleischer, acclaimed for his titular role in the Oscar(TM)-winning movie, "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"
"A year ago we went live as part of the New York DMV's innovative effort to take driver improvement online. Today, with the release of our new audio feature, we continue to innovate how defensive driving education is experienced by making it enjoyable, convenient and available in multiple formats, anywhere and anytime," said Gary Alexander, Improv's CEO and founder. "For over twenty years, our mission has been to increase the effectiveness of driver improvement instruction by making it fun and easy for students to succeed. With Charles Fleischer's comic genius providing a hilarious read-along option, our students enjoy a powerfully reinforced learning experience," Alexander added.
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles' online defensive driving course is called Internet/Alternate Delivery Method Point and Insurance Reduction Program, or I-PIRP for short. It's open to all licensed drivers, and participation is voluntary. New York drivers who complete an I-PIRP course are eligible for a mandatory 10 percent/three-year savings on auto liability and collision insurance premiums and reductions to their driver violation point total (up to four points). Classroom courses will continue to be offered throughout the state.
"It's definitely been a popular choice for students, as we have experienced over 300 percent growth in New York registrations in the last year," observed Alexander. "Our new read-along option allows participants to either read or listen to the defensive driving course over the internet, and we think that Charles Fleischer's one-of-a-kind humor will continue to increase our popularity with New York drivers."
While the course must be completed within 30 days of registration, it is available 24/7, allowing participants to log into http://www.MyImprovNewYork.com as many times as they like to finish at their own pace. Upon completion of this New York online defensive driving course, students are mailed a certificate that can be submitted to their insurance company, and the New York DMV is notified for an automatic reduction on the driver's active point count.
"Traffic safety is no laughing matter," commented Charles Fleischer on his voice acting in Improv's Defensive Driving Course. "Yet, for me as a comedian, laughter is universal, and the best way to connect with people and get their attention is to help them relax and enjoy themselves. As a driver, I'm excited to help get the safety message across and have a positive impact -- not a crash."
ABOUT DEFENSIVE DRIVING BY IMPROV
Improv(TM) has been revolutionizing defensive driving instruction and its delivery for more than twenty years. A national leader in providing effective and enjoyable online courses for both court-ordered traffic offenses and insurance point reduction, Improv pioneered the concept of integrating humor with defensive driving curriculum through its ground-breaking partnership with the world-famous Improv Comedy Club(TM). Since 1987, more than two million students have successfully completed its defensive driving courses nationwide.

Kaazing Announces Kaazing WebSocket Gateway -- the Industry's First Enterprise - Grade Web Infrastructure Software Based on the HTML5 WebSocket Standard
Kaazing WebSocket Gateway Allows Enterprise Customers to quickly deliver highly scalable full-duplex bi-directional Web applications while significantly reducing operational costs
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 24 -- Kaazing, the leading innovator in HTML5 WebSocket technology, today announced a major update to the Kaazing WebSocket Gateway, the industry's first enterprise-grade web infrastructure software based on the HTML5 WebSocket standard. The Kaazing WebSocket Gateway enables companies to quickly deploy distributed and dynamic applications that are massively scalable and significantly reduce total cost of ownership, breaking the barriers of today's Web.
Consumers are shifting from web-centric PCs to multiple connected devices to obtain information and access dynamic, rich media, real-time applications. This trend is driving momentum and adoption of HTML5, the next major revision of the HTML (HyperText Markup Language) standard.
Kaazing WebSocket Gateway, with its patent-pending WebSocket Acceleration(TM) technology, is the only commercial solution today that facilitates full-duplex bi-directional web communication, making it possible to seamlessly and reliably extend any TCP-based messaging protocol to the Web without buying expensive new hardware.
"We have 4.4 million registered customers in more than 100 countries and needed a solution that could deliver on our requirements on scalability and reduced latency," said Stefan Norberg, Chief Architect of Unibet, one of the largest e-gaming operators in Europe. "We chose Kaazing for its support for open-standards such as HTML5 and AMQP, and for its flexible architecture which enabled us to meet our business structure, not change the business to fit the technology. The result is reduction in our data center infrastructure, as well as much lower latency which ensures improved customer experience."
Unlike older, non-standard technologies that rely on "polling" or "long-polling," and utilize complex, inefficient techniques that result in higher latency and sky-rocketing server infrastructure costs, Kaazing delivers ultra-high application performance while lowering operational cost. Kaazing WebSocket Gateway reduces unnecessary network traffic by up to a thousand times, and capable of supporting over one million concurrent users per gateway. By using KaazingWebSocket Gateway, companies can support globally distributed user population with high availability, without material service degradation.
"Kaazing WebSocket Gateway is the first and only WebSocket infrastructure solution that enables large and small businesses to harness the power of HTML5 for dynamic multiplatform application deployment," said Jonas Jacobi, CEO of Kaazing. "By delivering such game-changing technology, we help our customers realize complete communication and architecture freedom."
Kaazing WebSocket Gateway Product Features:
-- Ultra-high performance, full duplex bi-directional communication
between browser and back-end real-time data sources and messaging
servers
-- Native support for HTML5 WebSocket compliant browsers, as well as
emulated support for older versions of browsers including IE6, without
requiring any plug-ins
-- Support for all major client technology platforms, including:
JavaScript, Adobe Flash/Flex, Java Desktop, JavaFX, Java Applet,
Microsoft Silverlight, and Microsoft .Net framework
-- Support for a variety of protocols, including, but not limited to:
STOMP, AMQP, and XMPP
-- Awareness and support for communication through proxy servers
-- Support for full TCP-based binary and text protocol
-- Dynamic load balancing with fine-grained control
-- Enterprise grade reliability and resiliency through advanced high
availability and disaster recovery features
-- Enhanced security and single sign-on capabilities, including built-in
protocol awareness and credential injection; integration with JAAS,
supporting pluggable authentication modules.
Kaazing WebSocket Gateway will be available for download starting May 28. For more information on the HTML5 WebSocket standard and Kaazing's full product offerings, visit http://www.kaazing.com.

Corvil Delivers First Ever Unified Application and Network Latency Management System
New CorvilNet Release Offers Transaction, Message and Packet Latency Management In One Enterprise Scale Platform
LONDON and NEW YORK, May 24, 2010-- Corvil, provider of latency management systems for financial markets,
today added application monitoring, troubleshooting and reporting to its
market-leading CorvilNet latency management system. By unifying application
and network latency management together with high capacity packet capture,
CorvilNet offers customers for the first time a single platform solution for
all their latency management and data capture requirements. Competing
solutions require multiple products to be deployed adding more cost and do
not provide reliable analysis of latency problems happening at the
application and network layers.
The new application capabilities allow customers to monitor, troubleshoot
and report on latency compliance for market data and order execution at the
level of individual messages and transactions. Support is included for
application processing and transforming infrastructure components such as
feed handlers, Smart Order Routers (SORs), FIX gateways and matching engines.
In addition, latency measurement of correlated events at the application
layer is now possible. This includes analysis of the time between sending an
order and receiving the associated acknowledgement, and the time for this to
be reflected in the market data.
This application latency management is unified with Corvil's
award-winning network latency management. For the first time application and
message latency performance can be directly related to the health and
performance of the underlying network and server infrastructure. Trading
outages can be quickly traced to their root cause whether at the network or

Web content modelled after television formatting with four pillars: production, distribution, broadcasting and monetization; made-for-Internet content by young talents for young audiences
BEIJING, May 24 -- Last week in Beijing, China's leading video website Tudou ( http://www.tudou.com/ ) announced the launch of its "Orange Box" made-for-Internet original content production plan and "Warehouse No. 6," an independent filmmakers' incubation program. On the surface, the announcement appeared to be yet another entertainment initiative. But, a deeper examination finds Tudou's move a calculated and strategic attempt to expand its content offerings based on the television model.
This May has been a busy and noisy month for the Internet video market in China. State-owned television broadcaster CCTV officially announced plans to merge its online operations, the long-time CCTV.com, into the newly launched "China Network Television" official site CNTV.cn by May 31, 2010. In the meantime, major video websites Tudou, Youku, and Ku6 and portals Sina, Sohu, and Tencent all announced signing the 2010 FIFA World Cup online broadcasting licensing deals with CCTV in the same week. Additionally, China search engine giant Baidu officially launched its Hulu clone Qiyi.com, hosting only copyrighted movies, TV dramas and variety shows. Needless to say, everyone is jumping to capitalize on the growth of the online video industry in China as they see the trends of consumer media behavior changing and advertising dollars are shifting toward Internet video. Online video pure play, portals, search engines and TV players are re-organizing themselves around the video entertainment market paradigm change.
According to China iResearch, annual online video category total advertising revenue in China has grown almost 70% from RMB800 million in 2008 to RMB1.3 billion (or US$200 million) in 2009. Online video ad market growth is projected to range between 60% to 80% annually in the next three years.
While capturing the lion's share of the user base and advertising dollar increases, Tudou's recent announcement kicking off its made-for-Internet original web productions is aimed at broadening its content offering and deepening long-term competitive strength. Like YouTube and major video vertical players, Tudou boasts huge traffic and a massive 200 million monthly unique audience reach. While monetizing the traffic by advertising has quickly become a proven business model, it may not be enough. A 20-year Chinese TV veteran and a media expert commented, as TV in China is relatively regulated, Tudou's paving its ways to create a made-for-Internet content ecosystem signals Internet video sites' ambition to create a new alternative model outside of network television companies' business and operational systems, with a new audience watching new media.
Starting in 2010, a number of online video websites in China announced different kinds of content initiatives via relatively simple approaches such as partnerships or funding. Tudou is choosing a more sophisticated and resource-consuming route, building its own production pipelines managing four key pillars: production, distribution, broadcasting and monetization. "We want to get our own hands deep into the content business and minimize the dependencies that stem from involving too many third parties," said Gary Wang, Tudou Founder & CEO. Along with the plan to launch two Tudou-branded drama series in the fall season, Tudou is also aggressively recruiting young independent filmmakers to join the wagon for more web-based production demands down the road.
Gary Wang said, "At the core, it's about Tudou's audience and about the Chinese young talent pool." In the past five years, Tudou, the earliest video sharing site in China, has witnessed the amazing growth of young Chinese filmmaking talents and enabled the commercial developments for a number of them. Pi San, an animator featured in the annual 2010 Tudou Video Festival Financial Forum, successfully signed a multi-million RMB contract with China Central Television (CCTV) to produce a 104-episode animation series. The Best Animation winning video "The Adventures of Li Xianji" by Yang Li, living in Beijing, was recognized by renowned movie producer Chen Guofu and will be adapted into a 90-minute cinema release from its 20-minute original. "Mr. Lei" by a 24-year old young director Ke Deng, a webisode series co-funded by the China Film Group and Tudou was well received and also secured ad sponsorships from Dongfeng Peugeot, Hewlett-Packard and Motorola.

Iridium Announces 'Test Your Satellite Phone' Week
Annual Reminder Coincides with U.S. National Hurricane Preparedness Week, May 23-29
MCLEAN, Va., May 24 -- Iridium Communications Inc. (NASDAQ:IRDM), the world's only provider of truly global mobile satellite communications, announces the launch of its fourth annual "Test Your Satellite Phone" (TYSP) Week initiative, reminding users to make sure their satellite phones are ready to deploy at a moment's notice when natural or manmade disasters strike.
"First responders, emergency relief and recovery workers, and organizations with international operations depend on Iridium satellite phones for vital communications in the aftermath of disasters because we offer reliable, global service in an easy-to-use and extremely mobile handset," said Don Thoma, executive vice president, marketing, for Iridium. "That's why we take this opportunity each year to encourage our customers to check out their satellite phones, to ensure batteries are fully charged and phones are working properly, and to review operating procedures for making and receiving satellite calls."
"If you've been deployed to respond to a disaster and you discover your battery is depleted or you can't remember dialing procedures, your mission can be seriously hampered," added Thoma. "It sounds straightforward, but we hear from users all the time that, in the heat of the moment, they simply forgot to test their phone, which is why we launched Test Your Satellite Phone Week four years ago," added Thoma.
Iridium subscribers can call a toll-free number (00-1-480-752-5105) on any satellite phone to verify proper operation. Callers will hear a recorded voice message confirming they completed the call successfully and offering refresher tips for using the phones.
"International enterprises, such as hotel chains, air carriers, shipping companies, hospitals and financial institutions, as well as non-governmental organizations, are increasingly aware of the importance of mobile satellite phones in business continuity and recovery plans," said Ted Brown, President and CEO, KETCHConsulting, a business continuity expert. "Regular tests of mission-critical communications equipment, such as satellite phones, are an important part of every organization's emergency preparedness planning."
"We applaud Iridium's public service effort to ensure that first responders and relief workers are fully prepared to roll into action when called into action," said APCO International President Richard Mirgon. "Experience has shown that phone lines, Internet connections and wireless cellular networks are often destroyed or damaged, or just cannot handle the enormous surge in traffic following a natural or manmade disaster, and satellite phones become the only lifeline to the outside world."
For more information on Iridium's TYSP initiative, visit http://www.testyoursatellitephone.com. Media are welcome to download and publish a Test Your Satellite Phone Week public service announcement (PSA) from this site. In addition, tips and techniques available for satellite phone use and testing are included, such as:
-- Test your phone monthly.
-- Keep the battery charged. For optimal performance, completely
discharge before fully charging.
-- Ensure SIM card is locked in place. Remove the battery to check if the
tray is securely positioned and locked.
-- Protect the phone's antenna. Stow the antenna in the "down position"
when not in use.
-- Call outside with a clear view. Avoid obstructions to the sky and the
horizon such as buildings and trees.

PhoneTell Lets Your Smartphone Tell You Who to Call and Who's Calling You
Free New Mobile Application For Android Smartphones Launching at TechCrunch Provides Cloud-based Caller ID and Integrated Search and Dialing Solution; You can Manage Inbound Phone Calls With One Click and Find Any Number You Want Instantly
NEW YORK, May 24 -- PhoneTell, "the call experience company," today launched a new mobile application for Android smartphones that helps you easily manage inbound phone calls quickly, and allows you to search and discover any number you want, instantly. Demonstrations of PhoneTell can be seen at Disrupt 2010 in New York City from May 24-26.
With PhoneTell, you can screen inbound calls and accept, decline or respond with just one click. You can see who's calling, even when the person or business is not in your address book. With PhoneTell, you can respond from a menu of pre-set or user-customized text messages that let your caller know you got their call with one simple click of a button. PhoneTell even schedules a call back reminder so you never again forget to call someone back.
"This is going to change how people interact with their phone. Traditionally, information on incoming calls was limited to what was in your address book. If it was a business or some other unknown caller or telemarketer, you were out of luck," said Steve Larsen, CEO, PhoneTell. "With PhoneTell, you now see precisely who's calling and can choose to answer or decline and have a text automatically sent to the caller with the touch of a button. PhoneTell truly makes your smartphone 'smarter'."
PhoneTell also takes your search for phone numbers beyond your mobile phone address book to your "personal cloud" of contacts and the vast universe of public and private phone number information. PhoneTell instantly scours these data sources and with its patent-pending algorithms, searches, verifies, de-dupes and delivers ranked search matches instantly to your smartphone. "Any number you would ever want to call - instantly accessible right in your dialer," added Larsen.
"In all the excitement over mobile apps, people often forget that the mobile device is after all, a phone," says Michael Boland, analyst and Program Director for BIA/Kelsey. "PhoneTell's new capabilities provide a better toolset for users to find phone numbers and identify incoming calls. This makes smartphone dialers more capable, and mobile users and their devices smarter."
Managing High-Quality Connections While on the Move
It happens to you every day; you're at lunch, in an important meeting or on another call when your phone rings, and it's just NOT a good time. But you would still like to acknowledge and respond to your caller. This is when you most appreciate PhoneTell. Here are some situations where PhoneTell would come in handy!
-- You're having lunch with an important client and get a call from the
nanny. You simply click on PhoneTell, which instantly sends a text
saying, "I can't talk right now, but text me or call again if this is
urgent."
-- Your newly-licensed teenager is driving and receives a call from a
friend. He simply clicks on PhoneTell and a text is sent instantly
saying, "I'm driving; can't talk right now. Will call you back."
-- You're in an important meeting and get a call from a headhunter who
has an update on a new career opportunity. With one click, you send
him an SMS saying, "I can't talk now, but will call you back in 30
minutes." You can even tell PhoneTell to remind you with the caller's
phone number, so you are sure to connect.
-- You're at a movie when you receive a call from the doctor's office.
You've been waiting for test results, but it would be rude to answer
in the theatre. With PhoneTell, you can instantly send a message
saying, "I can't talk right now, but please call me back in an hour."
PhoneTell is available for Android 2.0/2.1 phones, including the Nexus One and Motorola Droid. It is a free download available from the Android Market. Blackberry and iPhone versions are coming soon.

"Nobody has ever released this amount of information on such a large scale, and I believe there is a huge opportunity for the person who finds just the right way to work with the data."
All developer proposals will be due by June 7, 2010, and the winner will be announced on June 14, 2010 as Internet Week comes to a close. About Virage Logic's SiWare Memory and SiWare Logic Products
The SiWare product line, first introduced in October 2007 for the 65nm process and now in use by more than 40 customers on the 40nm process, has been proven to address the increasingly complex design requirements that are placed on physical IP at advanced processes. The power-optimized memories for advanced processes minimize both static and dynamic power consumption and provide optimal yields. SiWare High-Density memory compilers are optimized to generate memories with minimum area. SiWare High-Speed memory compilers are designed to help designers achieve the most aggressive critical path requirements. Compile-time options for process threshold variants, power saving modes, read and write margin extensions, ultra-low voltage operation, and innovative design for at-speed test enable SoC designers to configure optimal solutions for their specific design requirements.
All SiWare memories are fully supported by Virage Logic's STAR Memory System, the company's flagship embedded memory test and repair system that may be used with Virage Logic memories as well as with other commercially available or internally developed memories. For repair purposes, the STAR Memory System deploys foundry-developed eFuse for repair signature storage. The STAR Memory System employs test algorithms tailored for advanced processes for higher product reliability and accelerated time-to-yield.
The SiWare Logic product line offers yield-optimized High-Speed and High- Density standard cells that are available in multi-channel configurations and multiple threshold variants. These libraries contain over 1,100 base library cells with multiple cell variants and drive strengths to quickly achieve timing closure without wasting area or power. The cells are hand crafted for maximum performance and density.
Virage Logic's logic libraries maximize yield by adhering to restrictive design rules and multiple contacts for the highest manufacturability and robust electro-migration standards for reliability. Local variations are minimized with uniform layouts, use of non-minimum sized devices, and are accurately characterized in foundry-specified extraction environments that reflect DFM effects such as Well Proximity Effect (WPE) and diffusion spacing with neighboring circuits.
Availability
Virage Logic's SiWare Memory and SiWare Logic products will be available in Q3 2010. Virage Logic will license these products directly to end customers under its foundry sponsored IP program.

72 Year Old Caretaker Finally Retires Thanks to a Winning Jackpot
GIBRALTAR, May 24, 2010-- We all dream of a happy retirement, but few people spend their lives
working as a hospital caretaker and afford it. Thanks to a lucky break, 72
year old Albert was able to call it a day when he hit the jackpot playing
online last week.
Albert has been working his usual graveyard shift at the local hospital
for the last 19 years. Hoping to retire at the age of 65, he's been saving
every penny he could for decades. Unfortunately, heavy medical bills, in his
late 50s, completely wiped out any savings he managed to collect and forced
him into working well beyond retirement age.
For as long as he can remember, Albert has been filling out lottery
tickets and playing online slots in the hope of a happy retirement. Last
month it finally happened. One month short of reaching his 73rd birthday,
Albert put down a $20 bet at http://www.casino.com and quickly turned it into
$2,000. Three weeks later, he won a $94,377 jackpot playing slots during his
midnight dinner break at the hospital. When asked about his win, he replied,
"I was just grateful to have a job and be able to still work at my age. I'm
not planning anything too extravagant, but I certainly plan to spend more
time at home with my dog, Barbie." After winning the jackpot, Albert will
finally be able to enjoy the retirement he deserves.

Russian Women Voted Among the Most Beautiful in the World Beating Germany, United Kingdom and the United States; Russian Men However Voted Among the Ugliest
MOSCOW, May 24, 2010--
- BeautifulPeople.com launches dedicated Russian site
BeautifulPeople.com, the elite dating and networking community for
beautiful people only, today launches a Russian language version of
BeautifulPeople.com specifically for the Russian market. The website has been
translated in Russian so that local Russian members can mingle more freely
and easily with the world's most beautiful singles.
As reflected in the BeautifulPeople.com rating system Russian women are
among the most attractive members of BeautifulPeople.com.
Greg Hodge, Managing Director of BeautifulPeople.com, says; "Russian
women have an acceptance rate into BeautifulPeople.com of 48%, making them
the 3rd most beautiful women in the world. This is considerably high and
places Russian women only just behind Sweden and Iceland in physical
attractiveness. Russian men, on the other hand, are among the least
attractive members of BeautifulPeople.com with an acceptance rate of just 9%.
This explains why so many Russian women travel."
The aim of BeautifulPeople.com is to create a perfect worldwide community
for beautiful people only. Its member base of 600,000 worldwide can be
compared with the books of the world's leading modeling agencies. Everyone is
welcome to apply, yet with over 2.8 million applicants rejected since its
global launch, millions of men and women are turned away.
In January this year 5,000 members were expelled from the site for
gaining weight over the Christmas holiday period.
Founder of BeautifulPeople.com, Robert Hintze, says: "BeautifulPeople.com
is governed by the universal principle that every human being wants to be
with someone they find attractive. By only allowing beautiful people through
the doors, we remove the first hurdle. Other sites are jungles of hippos and
wart hogs. We are a game reserve of leopards and gazelles."
How the site works
BeautifulPeople.com is free to use.
Potential members apply with a photo and a brief profile. Over 48 hours,
existing members of the opposite sex vote whether or not to admit them in to
their exclusive community. The voting system is democratic and the majority
vote is final. Individuals who fail to impress are rejected.
Applicants can view their rating process on a real time rating graph,
which swings between red and green depending on how existing members judge
them.
An elite global lifestyle
Members of BeautifulPeople.com enjoy a number of desirable benefits:
- Glamorous parties and a jet set network which exists
throughout the globe
- Approaches by leading film and TV companies who utilise the site
- Potential contracts from top modeling agencies who utilise the
site

New Internet Namespace on the Horizon: UrbanBrain Announces dotSITE (.SITE)
TOKYO, May 24 -- UrbanBrain Inc., a registry back-end service provider, announced today that it plans to offer individual Internet users, hobbyists, and business owners the opportunity to extend their reach out into the world by securing a URL under .SITE, an easily identifiable Internet extension (Generic Top-Level Domain or "gTLD" (1)).
Representative Director and CEO of UrbanBrain Inc., Kevin Saimon, indicates the addition of new Internet extensions will increase competition in the market. "The extension .com was initially intended for commercial websites, .net was for organizations involved with network technologies, and .org was for non-commercial organizations. Restrictions were never upheld, lines were blurred over time, and .com prevailed as the dominant player with nearly 90 million domain registrations worldwide." In June 2008, recognizing the need for greater competition, ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), the nonprofit organization which oversees the Internet naming system, laid out plans to liberate the namespace and allow new gTLDs like .SITE to be introduced.
Hundreds of new gTLDs are expected to be introduced over the next few years. Jacob Williams, Director of Business Development, UrbanBrain Inc., suggests "there may be somewhat of a learning curve for consumers to overcome before they get comfortable with new gTLDs, but competition will bring about new business models and ultimately the consumer benefits will be tremendous."
(1) Generic Top-Level Domain (gTLD) is the right-most label of a domain name. For example, "dotsite.org" belongs to the top-level domain of .org. Currently there are 21 gTLDs in operation with many more to be operational in the few years.
About UrbanBrain Inc.
UrbanBrain provides a robust back-end registry solution and comprehensive consulting and operational training services for perspective new gTLD applicants. UrbanBrain is preparing to be the official registry operator of the new gTLD, .SITE and will also handle back-end operations for the winner of the world's first New gTLD contest, World Domain Cup (http://www.worlddomaincup.com/).

In the news release, ARCADIS Launches First Quantitative Tool to Gauge Remediation Sustainability, issued 23-May-2010 by ARCADIS over PR Newswire, we are advised by ARCADIS that the release transmitted earlier today by PR Newswire contained incorrect information. The complete, corrected release follows:
ARCADIS Launches Measurable Tool to Gauge Remediation Sustainability
DENVER, May 23 -- ARCADIS (Euronext: ARCAD), the international consultancy, design, engineering and management services company, today introduced the BalancE3(TM) Tool, a powerful new web based tool that comprehensively evaluates and quantifies the sustainability of remediation tactics.
The unique BalancE3 Tool quantifies green remediation based on the commonly accepted Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) six core elements of environmentally preferred remediation: Energy Requirements, Air Emissions, Water Requirements, Land and Ecosystem Impacts; Material Consumption and Waste Generation; and Stewardship. In addition, ARCADIS added Health & Safety and Life-Cycle Cost that are critical elements of remedy performance and optimization. The tool takes the individual measurements and creates a common currency or single unit of measure for sustainability.
"Up to this point, there has not been a widely accepted decision framework for quantifying and evaluating sustainability performance as part of the remedial selection process," said Kurt Beil, Director of Integrated Technical Services, ARCADIS U.S. "With the BalancE3 Tool, our clients can achieve incremental greening on their remediation projects with clear indicators for maximizing the net environmental benefit of any cleanup program."
Through its web-based interface, the BalancE3 Tool continuously calculates sustainability metrics to measure the fulfillment of each core element and identify factors with the greatest impact on sustainability. It also provides a mechanism to benchmark and track progress over time for critical metrics, including the core elements of green remediation and sustainability, as well as, project management matters of budget, timeline and safety. This provides the critical information needed for remedial decision making and prioritization. The tool is scalable to a broad range of project sizes, regions and needs from the site level through an entire portfolio-wide application.
The BalancE3 Tool - which was named for its solutions that create a balance of Environmental sustainability, Economic sustainability and social Equity - was created by Beil and a team of ARCADIS engineers, scientists, and economists in response to an annual company-wide competition. The competition, called "Imagine...," invites employees to propose ground-breaking ideas that meet ARCADIS' aim of making a meaningful contribution to a more sustainable world.
Stated Beil, "Our ultimate goal with the BalancE3 tool was to establish a foundation for applying sustainability to design, optimization and implementation of environmental projects. While we were honored to win the competition, the real success of the BalancE3 Tool comes in meeting a need in our industry and sharing that solution with our clients to help them achieve their own goals and greater sustainability in a timely and more cost effective way."
The BalancE3 Tool was unveiled to environmental engineers today during the first day of the Battelle Remediation of Chlorinated and Recalcitrant Compounds Conference, the nation's foremost remediation conference.

FCC Approves Verizon's Divestiture of Local Wireline Operations in 14 States
WASHINGTON, May 21 -- The Federal Communications Commission on Friday (May 21) approved the proposed acquisition of Verizon Communications' local wireline operations in 14 states by Frontier Communications Corp. The U.S. Department of Justice, the Federal Trade Commission and all states requiring regulatory review previously cleared the transaction. Verizon announced the divestiture of its residential and small-business access lines in Arizona, California, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Washington, Wisconsin and West Virginia on May 13, 2009. The following statement should be attributed to Kathleen Grillo, Verizon senior vice president of federal regulatory affairs:
"We're pleased the commission approved this transaction and found it to be in the public interest. This transaction will benefit consumers by enabling Frontier to strengthen its position as a premier broadband and communications provider focused on rural and small- to medium-sized cities. It also will allow Verizon to accelerate its focus on wireless, broadband and global IP networks for its customers. We are reviewing the order."

GoogleTV Invigorates the IPTV Market and Genos' CEO, Rob Shambro, Dissects the AlternativeTV Space
-- Five Kinds of IPTV: TV Embedded, Media Extender, Stand Alone, Computer Monitor Out to the TV and Hybrid -- Internet TV Providers: GoogleTV, Roku, AppleTV, Vudu, Tivo, XBOX360, Boxee, Linksys DMA, Niveus EDGE, HP MediaSmart, Samsung MediaLive, D-Link DSM and GenosTV -- 'Apple Won Music, by putting it where it is supposed to be, on the hip. GenosTV will win IP/ traditional video by putting it where it is supposed to be, ON THE TV,' stated Rob Shambro at Digital Hollywood, May 5, 2010
LAS VEGAS, HONG KONG and AMSTERDAM, May 21 -- Today, after fielding tons of calls regarding GoogleTV's announcement yesterday, Rob Shambro, GenosTV's CEO decided to dissect the "AlternativeTV" market. Genos, the world's first broadband cable TV network, decided to dissect the players and their offerings due to several misconceptions in this space.
First, define IPTV, Internet Protocol Television. It comes in three main groups: Live TV, time shifted programming and video on demand. Essentially it is the playing of Internet Encoded Media on a traditional television. Most video starts off the same way. It is the way that it is encoded or encapsulated that makes it different. The rules, regulations and the intentions of the content rights holder is the most important differentiator. Most IP media is in the form of video on demand and internet generated content, like you would see on YouTube. Getting this media to play on the TV is what most of the players are focusing on. IP media is awesome since it typically can be played when and how you want it. More video is available in IP form.
Getting the video from the Internet to play on the TV comes in many flavors. First, one can take a computer, set it close to the TV and connect its video and audio outputs to that of the TV. Often this is not an easy process since every TV and computer has different inputs and outputs. Secondly, we have the extender concept which addresses this issue. Extender for Windows Media Center is available on the Media Center Edition, Vista and Windows 7. It allows a computer to connect to a network and an authorized device like the XBOX360, Linksys DMA, Samsung Media Live and the HP MediaSmart. The process still requires the end user to make the selection at the computer level.
Now for the Hybrid, stand alone and embedded solutions providers. The GoogleTV platform will be made available through various TV service providers and hardware manufacturers -- as a separate box or integrated into TVs and other provider boxes. The service seems to have two offerings -- indexing your stored media and provide search capability of your subscribed channels from your cable provider, YouTube and other web content. It's a browser for your TV. A quick Google search on GoogleTV today, shows very mixed emotions on the service, leaning towards the "not so impressed.".
AppleTV is a stand-alone Internet-to-TV service -- heavily weighted by iTunes and offering lot of IP movies on demand and a decent selection of television episodes, that are Internet Encoded, for sale. So you can buy last week's episode of House for $2.99. However, the TED speeches are awesome.
The Roku box is driven by Netflix. Netflix and Roku work like an extender. You have to plug your Roku box number into the Roku website for it to be authorized, then you choose the movies from the Netflix site that are internet enabled. Next the Roku box is notified and you can watch your chosen movies from Netflix on your TV. They do have Pandora, which plays on the TV, which is cool since it makes it easy to connect your music to your entertainment center. Don't lose the remote!!
If the box has a browser it is most likely NOT an extender. If you have to use your computer to search or choose in any way, and that decision is send to another box like the Linksys or HP, then it is an extender.
Now GenosTV has two services that are very different from the offerings of the above players. GenosTV is a Cable TV Provider, WORLDWIDE. You would cancel your cable or satellite service and order GenosTV. The difference is that you will only have to pay for the channels that you want. Genos is unbundling Cable TV. "You buy the Genos box for under $100 after the company's launch at CES Jan., 2011. You connect the box to your TV and broadband Internet. You sign up. You pick your language. You pick your channels, which run between 2-3 dollars per month. Then you THANK THE BOX", says CEO, Rob Shambro, "Imagine the cost savings!" The Genos Service comes with TVME, the next killer app, which allows anyone in the world to create their own television station for free. When our video guide comes up on the TV, you will be able to choose from your cable channels, TVME Business Channels, TVME Celebrity Channels, Licensed Web Content and then "your" channel and your friend's channels. Shambro said, "We are creating the New Video Internet. The Genos cable box and video guide is the new browser and TVME is our way of getting people to build a video website for the new VNET (video internet) that Genos is creating. Our exclusive channels will be created by you, the consumer." Genos has filed 6 patents that surround the service and its offerings. We are not really focusing on Internet Media Search and Indexing like GoogleTV, or DVD by mail with and Internet Backup like Roku/Netflix. Genos will change the way you view the television.
Genos is the leader in the Internet audio and video space. Releases like this are necessary to keep the consumer educated.
