In conjunction with this new focus, GDC Europe will also provide a major platform for online game companies to host press conferences on the second day of the event.
"Last year's show proved to be a raging success, with content and sessions presented by some of Europe's most important industry figures," said Frank Sliwka, Vice President of European Business Development and Event Director of GDC Europe. "Once again we look to the expertise and talent of the international game developer community to provide the amazing content that makes GDC Europe the leading industry event in Europe."

10 Years and Counting: Verizon Wireless Network Testing Program Expands, Prepares For 4G
Growing Fleet, Increasing Capabilities for Real-Life Test Men and Women Who Test Drive the Verizon Wireless Network
LAS VEGAS and BASKING RIDGE, N.J., March 24 -- Since its creation in 2000, Verizon Wireless has employed real-life test men and women to monitor and test the company's network by driving its fleet of vehicles. Ten years later, that fleet has more than tripled in size with Verizon Wireless now operating 100 specially equipped, company-owned and -operated test vehicles, the largest wireless network testing fleet in the United States.
Verizon Wireless recently added 10 new vehicles to its network testing fleet to bring its total complement to 100 test vehicles. The vehicles - late-model, four-wheel drive utility vehicles, each costing approximately $240,000 when fully outfitted with network testing gear - enable the company to enhance its call quality and coverage capabilities and test new markets, including Arkansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
"Our focus has been and always will be on network quality. We are dedicated to providing our customers the best wireless experience in the United States," said Tony Melone, senior vice president and CTO of Verizon Wireless. "The network tests we conduct day after day enable us to not only understand our customers' experiences today, but also to make decisions on network enhancements and investments that will provide the best service for our customers in the future."
Over the past 10 years, as consumers' wireless usage has evolved, so has Verizon Wireless' data collection. When the company launched in 2000, Verizon Wireless test men and women measured fundamental information about voice call quality. Today, more wireless consumers use smartphones and wirelessly access data services, and Verizon Wireless now conducts tests to help determine whether a data session connected, how it connected and how quickly that connection was made.
Preparing to Test 4G
This year, Verizon Wireless plans to launch its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless network - which will offer higher wireless speeds than today's most advanced 3G network - in 25 to 30 markets nationally. When it does, Verizon Wireless' test men and women will monitor the 4G network as they do the current voice and data network. The first member of the Verizon Wireless test vehicle fleet to be equipped with 4G testing equipment will be the test vehicle named "Ike." Ike will be testing the prototype 4G testing and monitoring equipment to be installed in the Verizon Wireless test fleet later this year.

In addition to high reliability, WD AV-25 hard drives meet the demanding requirements of the AV/DVR and surveillance markets by offering customers universal compatibility, low power consumption and the ability to simultaneously record multiple audio and/or high-definition video streams. The new WD AV-25 hard drive is ideal for applications such as DVRs (digital video recorders), digital video surveillance and other small form factor environments where power consumption and 24x7 reliability are critical.
"Customers that market audio and video recording applications, such as DVRs, media centers and mainstream surveillance systems, often require 24x7 operation from hard drives," said Jim Welsh, senior vice president and general manager of WD's branded products and consumer electronics groups. "WD AV-25 hard drives are designed to withstand these demanding environments and offer consumers a small form factor solution that consumes less power, generates less heat, and operates quietly and, most importantly, reliably."
Features of the WD AV-25 hard drive include:
-- 24x7 reliability - Designed to last in always-on streaming digital
audio/video environments such as DVR/PVR, digital video surveillance
and other demanding multimedia applications.
-- Advanced Format technology - Leading edge technology that delivers
improved video quality and AV performance through enhanced error
correction capability.
-- SilkStream(TM) technology - Optimized for smooth, continuous digital
video playback of up to five simultaneous HD streams. SilkStream is
compatible with the ATA streaming command set so AV customers can use
standard streaming management and error recovery options.
-- Ultra-cool operation - A cool drive is a more reliable drive. WD
continues to develop new and innovative ways to keep drives cool while
they are operating.
-- Quiet - Noise levels have been minimized to less than one sone* -
virtually below the threshold of human hearing.
-- Low power consumption - The drive draws less than 2 Watts while
operating and a mere 4.75 Watts during spin up.
-- 1 million hours MTTF (MTBF) - Best-in-class reliability for small form
factor AV storage.+
-- Preemptive Wear Leveling (PWL) - The drive arm frequently sweeps
across the disk to reduce uneven wear on the drive surface common to
audio video streaming applications.
Price and Availability
The WD AV-25 hard drive is offered in capacities of 160 GB, 250 GB, 320 GB and 500 GB and has a 3-year limited warranty. The WD AV-25 160 GB, 250 GB and 320 GB hard drives are available now from select e-tailers and distributors. The WD AV-25 500 GB hard drive will be available next month. Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays Make Wireless Mobility Possible for Whatcom Transportation Authority
Whatcom Transportation Authority Chose Xirrus for Their Ability to Handle Large Amounts of Wireless Traffic with the Best Return on Investment in the Industry
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., March 24 -- Xirrus®, the Wi-Fi "Power Play" that delivers the most coverage, bandwidth, and user density in the industry, announced today the deployment of Xirrus high performance 802.11n Wi-Fi Arrays at Whatcom Transportation Authority in Bellingham, Washington. Whatcom is a county-wide public transportation agency with five facilities and 60 full time buses. During a recent fleet upgrade, they chose to wirelessly enable their buses and facilities using Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays for real-time data and video transfer with seamless execution.
Talking about their decision to deploy Xirrus equipment, Geoff MacCombe, Network and Infrastructure Administrator at Whatcom Transportation Authority said, "A generic wireless access point was not going to handle the traffic. There are only two or three manufacturers looking at high-end, multi-antenna, multi-radio devices. By far, both by cost and by performance, Xirrus was a much better return on investment than anyone else."
Geoff continued by explaining the Xirrus implementation, "The team came up from Xirrus and we talked about the different styles of deployments we could do and what it would take to cover the necessary length of the transit center and the width of the maintenance base. We then did a site survey, took some measurements, and tested the system. After everything was installed, we looked to see if the numbers remained the same! Everything is as promised and the distance I get - wow! I am very happy with everything Xirrus delivered."
Xirrus, the only Wi-Fi Power Play(TM), manufactures the Wi-Fi Array® architecture that displaces both overlay Wi-Fi offerings and switched Ethernet or Fast Ethernet to the desktop. Unlike traditional access points, the Wi-Fi Array integrates 4, 8, 12, 16 or 24 802.11abgn radios along with a high-gain directional antenna system, onboard multi-gigabit switch, Wi-Fi controller, firewall, dedicated Wi-Fi threat sensor, and an embedded spectrum analyzer into a single energy-efficient and cost-effective device using 75% fewer devices, cabling, switch ports, power, space, and installation time compared with any other offering. Xirrus products are designed and manufactured in the United States. Xirrus is Wi-Fi Alliance Verisign, PCI, FIPS 140-2, and ISO 9001:2008 Certified. SonicWALL Introduces Modular UTM Firewall with Integrated 24 Port Ethernet Switch
High port density and dual expansion module slots combined with high-performance UTM platform allow SMBs to easily segment and secure their networks
SAN JOSE, Calif., March 24 -- SonicWALL, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNWL), a leading secure network infrastructure company, announced today the SonicWALL Network Security Appliance (NSA) 2400MX, an innovative new addition to its market leading Unified Threat Management (UTM) portfolio. The NSA 2400MX is ready to support future expansion modules made available by SonicWALL that will allow small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) to further increase switching port density. The unique modular design of the NSA 2400MX ensures robust security, reliability and productivity for SMBs, while minimizing cost and complexity.
The NSA 2400MX provides SMBs with the dynamic security they need to stay ahead of the latest external and internal threats, while allowing them to consolidate networking hardware. Network attacks are increasingly sophisticated and often financially motivated. While point products add additional layers of security, they are costly, difficult to manage and limited in their ability to control network and application misuse by employees. SonicWALL's UTM offering combines application inspection and control, intrusion prevention, anti-virus and anti-spyware equipment on a single easy-to-manage, highly secure, high performance appliance.
"SonicWALL is committed to the evolution of security and obvious requirements of integration in the market. Today, SMBs need fewer points of failure, not more. The NSA 2400MX allows businesses to extend the full power of the SonicWALL security solution over a 24 port switch, thus providing greater security and lower TCO," said Patrick Sweeney, vice president of Product Management at SonicWALL. "As customer requirements change over time, they can extend the capabilities of their single firewall and switch by taking advantage of the dual modular slots featured in the NSA 2400MX."
By building on top of the successful NSA Series, the NSA 2400MX delivers the following security and networking features:
-- Increased Port Density with Advanced Switching. Supporting (10) 1 GbE
and 16 FE ports, the NSA 2400MX provides the highest port density of
any product in its class, and is designed to eliminate the barriers
that previously prevented SMBs from implementing internal security
segmentation, as well as the complexities associated with third party
switches from their network.
-- Modular Expansion. Providing support for future expansion modules from
SonicWALL, the NSA 2400MX will be able to further increase switching
port density, or provide WAN termination for T1/E1 and ADSL by
assuming responsibility for WAN access and eliminating unnecessary
routers from the network.
-- Dynamic Routing Services and Networking Features. The NSA 2400MX
offers advanced networking and security features including 802.1q
VLANs, Multi-WAN and ISP failover, zone and object-based management,
load balancing, advanced NAT modes and more, providing granular
configuration flexibility and comprehensive protection.
-- Deep Protection Security. The NSA 2400MX utilizes SonicWALL's
Reassembly-Free Deep Packet Inspection engine to inspect every bit of
all traffic to eliminate viruses, spyware, intrusion attempts and
other malware from traffic before it enters the network.
-- Application Intelligence and Control. Provides a configurable set of
granular policies per user, application, schedule or IP subnet. These
policies can be used to automate application bandwidth allocation,
restrict transfer of specific files, scan attachments using
user-configurable criteria, control and inspect both internal and
external Web access and enable users to add custom signatures.
-- Advanced State-of-the-Art Performance and Lowered TCO. Applying the
processing power of multiple cores in unison, SonicWALL's multi-core
performance architecture dramatically increases throughput and
simultaneous inspection capabilities while keeping power consumption
nearly constant.
-- Innovative SonicWALL Clean VPN(TM). The NSA 2400MX features
SonicWALL's Clean VPN deep packet inspection architecture, which
provides decontamination of mobile user and branch office traffic,
and attacks vulnerabilities and malicious code before being
introduced into the corporate network.
-- Award-winning SonicWALL Global Management System (GMS). Network
administrators can manage every SonicWALL appliance using SonicWALL
GMS, the award-winning management solution that provides
administrators with the tools they need to easily configure, enforce
and manage global security policies, VPNs and services from a central
location.
About SonicWALL, Inc.
SonicWALL is committed to improving the performance and productivity of businesses of all sizes by engineering the cost and complexity out of running a secure network. Over one million SonicWALL appliances have been shipped through its global network of ten thousand channel partners to keep tens of millions of worldwide business computer users safe and in control of their data. SonicWALL's award-winning solutions include network security, secure remote access, content security, backup and recovery, and policy and management technology. Trimble to Offer More Acres of Sub-Inch Accuracy With VRS Now Ag Service
SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 24 -- Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today the launch of Trimble® VRS Now(TM) Ag service for farmers in nine U.S. states--Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi and Nebraska. Additionally, European growers can receive correction services in Great Britain, Ireland, Germany, Czech Republic and Estonia. As with corrections supplied by conventional Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) radio towers, Trimble VRS(TM) network corrections provide sub-inch repeatable Global Positioning System (GPS) accuracy for precision farming operations such as tillage, planting, spraying and field preparation.
The Trimble VRS solution uses proprietary software to create correction models for regions covered by the network. The VRS service can provide growers with instant access to high-accuracy RTK positioning without the need for a local base station. VRS corrections are valuable in areas with natural obstructions such as trees and hilly terrain due to the fact that corrections are obtained by a cellular modem, rather than through the line-of-sight signals provided by an RTK tower.
Trimble pioneered RTK in the early 1990s as a means of delivering high-accuracy GPS positioning. Today, there are more than 750 million acres covered by Trimble agriculture RTK base stations. The VRS Now Ag service was developed to deliver high-accuracy positioning via cellular communications and provides more than 400 million acres of sub-inch accuracy.
"We are very pleased to provide Trimble VRS Now Ag service to nine U.S. states and five European countries," said Erik Arvesen, vice president and general manager for Trimble's Agriculture Division. "VRS Now Ag service provides an additional high-accuracy correction option for farmers who require reliable sub-inch positioning for their crucial field operations. Trimble VRS Now is fully supported and dedicated to the success of farmer field operations."
Trimble applies technology to make field and mobile workers in businesses and government significantly more productive. Solutions are focused on applications requiring position or location--including surveying, construction, agriculture, fleet and asset management, public safety and mapping. In addition to utilizing positioning technologies, such as GPS, lasers and optics, Trimble solutions may include software content specific to the needs of the user. Wireless technologies are utilized to deliver the solution to the user and to ensure a tight coupling of the field and the back office. Founded in 1978, Trimble is headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif.

Akamai Enhances Electronic Software Delivery Platform to Improve the Download Experience for Increased Business and Consumer Value
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., March 24 -- Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:AKAM), the leader in powering video, dynamic transactions and enterprise applications online, today announced a new solution, Akamai Download Analytics, as well as upgrades to its existing solution, Akamai Download Manager. With these solutions, Akamai's Electronic Software Delivery solution set is now designed to allow Akamai customers to create a customized and branded download experience, increase user engagement during the download process, improve conversion rates and garner business-critical download analytics reporting and data.
Electronic software delivery revenue is expected to grow to $67.2B in 2013 according to IDC(1), and there are a few major trends impacting the online software delivery market today:
-- Higher User Expectations - The majority of U.S. users prefer to
acquire software online. User expectations, combined with growing file
sizes, are driving software vendors to deliver software online with a
more engaging, higher performing and interactive download experience.
Studies have shown that improving the user experience during the
download can improve conversion rates by 15%(2).
-- Increased Traffic - There are increased amounts of software delivered
online, driven by larger file sizes and additional demand for feature
and security updates. In addition, the growth of connected devices is
driving regular updates of consumer and business applications.
-- Workflow Complexity - As the types of software and the audience of
users and devices requesting software continues to grow, workflow
around software entitlement, security, and packaging has become more
complex. Software providers need the capability to simplify the user's
download experience while handling this complexity.
-- Real Time Data - As electronic distribution of software displaces
physical media delivery, companies are looking for real-time reporting
and analytics that drive the online channel. Software vendors need
business intelligence to include real-time metrics that capture
end-user behavior and success of software downloads.
"Akamai's enhanced Electronic Software Delivery solution is designed to help companies address and meet the shifting requirements of today's online software delivery market while managing costs," said Reynold Harbin, Senior Product Line Director, Akamai. "By offering the latest download management technology to improve the performance and integrity of downloads, a new and fully customizable user interface, and the ability to inspect download behavior with download analytics customers using our delivery platform will now be able to fully optimize their end-user's download experience. The benefits are increased end-user engagement and improved software installation rates, enabling companies to drive success of the online channel for software distribution."
Akamai's new Download Analytics solution and updated Download Manager benefit customers with:
-- A rich and engaging download experience that further immerses users in
a company's brand through a customized user interface, as well as
offers the ability to promote the product being downloaded or
additional offerings during the download process in an effort to
increase conversions.
-- More user control over the download process with the ability to pause,
stop or resume downloads. In addition, downloads automatically
recover from dropped connections or system crashes.
-- Powerful download analytics that track key software engagement and
delivery metrics in the context of a company's business to gain
further insight into consumer behavior in order to make better
download strategy decisions.
-- Simplified software download workflow that is designed to solve the
complexity challenges of multiple file delivery, authentication, and
multi-lingual support.
"Electronic software delivery has strong potential in today's digital economy, given its impact on cost savings, ability to enhance a user's experience with a brand, and reduced environmental impact," said Amy Konary, Research Director, Software Pricing, Licensing and Delivery at IDC. "The technological and cultural barriers that held electronic distribution models back in the past are falling, and vendor initiatives to increase the amount of software delivered this way should create a period of rapid growth in the percent of software sales that are fulfilled electronically."
Akamai Download Manager
Electronic software delivery can improve the entire user experience with a customized and branded delivery process. Delivering software electronically, however, can be wrought with challenges and limitations, such as the inability to efficiently support very large file downloads, limited user control and no protection against file corruption. This can result in low download completion rates, low trial conversion rates, increased support calls and poor insight into critical download management metrics.
Akamai's Download Manager, a desktop software application that is designed to enable users to download content quickly, easily and reliably, now offers a simplified, multi-file workflow designed to enable software publishers to enhance the user experience while managing complex workflows for entitled software. The new enhancements to Akamai's Download Manager are particularly important in cases where downloads need to occur in a specific order, authentication mechanisms need to be applied to multiple files, custom error messages need to be delivered, multi-lingual support is necessary, or a specific file needs to be called when all files have been successfully downloaded.
Many large software downloads can take a significant amount of time to download. With a new, customizable user interface in Akamai's Download Manager, companies have an opportunity to further immerse users in their brand and promote additional offerings during the download experience. Advanced controls now empower the user to pause, stop or resume downloads at their discretion giving them the option to restart a download at a later time or automatically recover from dropped connections or system crashes. By managing multiple parallel connections to maximize the available bandwidth, Akamai Download Manager is designed to improve performance, especially on high latency or high packet-loss connections. Download Manager is also fully compatible with existing security implementations, including SSL.
Akamai Download Analytics
Gaining visibility into the effectiveness of electronic software download offerings is critical to maximize the value of an online channel. Software vendors face many challenges including software monetization, maximizing try-to-buy conversions, managing online distribution strategies, prioritizing online marketing efforts, and monitoring and allocating distribution costs.
Implementing an advanced download analytics solution has historically been a substantial technical and costly undertaking, and has resulted in many software companies operating without the intelligence needed to maximize the value of the online channel for software delivery. Akamai Download Analytics is designed to give companies a vast amount of insight, including completion rates, download duration, and user behavior, to make powerful business decisions on their electronic software delivery strategies.
Akamai Download Analytics is designed to provide Akamai's customers with access to:
-- User engagement metrics, including download duration and completion
rate
-- User analysis by geography, network and connection speed
-- User behavior data, such as start, stop, pause, and cancel
-- Content usage metrics, including bytes delivered and bytes per
download
-- Powerful custom reporting, including the ability to define the data
set, reporting dimensions, and metrics, filter using standard matching
criteria applied against any dimension and a report customization
interface.

As one of the UK's most popular sources for wedding related news, Wedding-News.co.uk is a great partner for the newly launched online Asian wedding magazine, Mantra Weddings.
As the UK's only free online Asian wedding magazine, http://www.mantraweddings.com/ is an exciting new site which is gaining plenty of attention and popularity with the Asian community. Acision and Echometrix to Deliver Breakthrough Mobile Parental Control Solution to Operators Through Acision Innovation Network
PLANO, Texas, March 24, 2010--
- Integration of Echometrix Technology With Acision Message Plus
to Address unmet Need for Preventative Measures Against Cyberbullying and
Other Inappropriate Messages
Acision, a world leader in mobile data, and Echometrix, Inc., a leader in
online family safety technology, today announced an alliance to deliver a
breakthrough parental control solution available to mobile operators,
addressing concerns among subscribers over cyberbullying and other high-risk
mobile text communications. The solution will be the first network-based,
universal parental text monitoring system which works with all text messaging
enabled mobile phones.
The two companies are working together through the Acision Innovation
Network to provide an integrated offering for advanced parental control that
is unique in today's mobile marketplace. The solution enables operators to
offer services such as monitoring and alerts to parents when a child
encounters questionable messages. The joint solution is based on Acision's
Message Plus platform and Echometrix's FamilySafe technology, developed in
cooperation with the AmberWatch Foundation. Acision's Message Plus platform
enables operators to personalize the messaging experience, a capability that
is generally not available in today's mobile messaging solutions.
Echometrix's FamilySafe technology enhances the parental control feature set
on Acision's Message Plus platform by identifying whether sent and received
messages contain inappropriate or potentially harmful content.
Consumer research commissioned by Acision showed that the majority of
parents (82 percent) would like to have more control over when their child
can send messages, what content they can send and receive, and with whom
their child is exchanging mobile messages. Over half (57 percent) of the
parents surveyed would be more likely to let their child have a mobile phone
if more control features were offered by carriers. Offering parental control
features will potentially have operators looking at a significant increase in
mobile phone adoption among teenagers and more noteworthy, pre-teens.
"With the rise of cyberbullying, and other forms of inappropriate
messaging, it is increasingly important that individuals, particularly
parents, have control over mobile messaging usage to help prevent abuse,"
said Taco Schoute, Head of Messaging at Acision. "Acision is taking steps to
continuously improve the ability to personally control the messaging
experience, both for parents and their children. Working with a leader in
parental control and online protection to deliver a universal solution is
regarded a major leap forward and offers operators the ability to better
protect the younger subscribers and give families more peace of mind."
"Our work with Acision is an important step in the ongoing effort to help
families protect children from predators, bullying, inappropriate content and
other dangers in today's increasingly mobile world," said Jeffery Greene,
Chief Executive Officer of Echometrix. "This is a truly powerful
collaboration, as we are very much aware of the challenges parents face with
their kids' usage of the digital world, and as the leading provider of mobile
data service solutions, Acision is best equipped to enable mass market access
to this breakthrough solution."
Acision's Message Plus provides a personalized messaging service, which
enriches basic person-2-person messaging and provides subscribers with more
control through features such as divert, copy and automated reply messages.
By enabling flexible integration with partners like Echometrix, mobile
operators are able to continuously differentiate their messaging service
while also providing its subscribers with the services they require.
FamilySafe is committed to developing best-of-breed parental control
tools, featuring timely analysis and instant notification regardless of the
source of the child's communication including mobile phone text messaging,
IM's, and other types of social related media. FamilySafe has leveraged years
of experience in protecting children on the Internet to create an easy to use
and effective mobile solution for parents, providing instant notification
when potentially "dangerous" situations are happening from a text messaging
interaction. Notably, the AmberWatch Foundation, a leading advocate in child
safety, and FamilySafe have joined forces in an effort to shield children
from harmful material and the growing problems faced each day on the
Internet. Together they have launched an innovative product offering enabling
parents to protect their children from increasingly prevalent dangers such as
online predators, dangerous Web content and high-risk online behaviour such
as cyber-bullying.
Echometrix joins more than 100 Acision Innovation Network partners from
across the communications industry working with Acision on the creation and
marketing of new applications and services to advance the way the world
communicates.

Financial Advisor Ltd Launches New Independent Financial Advisor Portal
LONDON, March 24 -- Financial Advisor (http://www.financialadvisor.co.uk/), the UK's fastest growing Independent Financial Advisor network, has launched a new web portal to provide unbiased reviews and information on the UK's IFA's.
The new website portal aims to help connect consumers with a rich source of information to help them better make decisions not just on financial providers, but also as to which financial products they take up.
According to spokesperson Alan Worthing, "In the current economic climate, there are various shopping websites which can compare product prices. However, for many financial services professional advice is essential to fitting the right product to an individual's personal circumstances. The new Independent Financial Advisor portal will help connect consumers with those professionals."
FinancialAdvisor.co.uk will help provide with the following key IFA provisions:
- Mortgage advice and advisors
- Investment and investing strategy
- Pensions advice
The service will also provide information on IFA's providing tax, credit repair, loan, and insurance advice services.
Alan Worthing continues, "The idea that all financial products are a one-size fits all solution is a mistaken one, and with complex instruments such as pensions and investments especially, there is no way to directly compare generic costs to very individual needs. The new portal should help take the difficulty out of finding the right professional advice as needed."

Dr. Martin Taylor MBE to Launch Online Jazz Guitar Academy
Jazz guitar virtuoso Dr. Martin Taylor MBE has partnered with online video exchange pioneers ArtistWorks, Inc. to launch the Martin Taylor Guitar Academy on April 15, enabling students from around the world to receive a unique interactive online music education experience. Martin Taylor is recognized as a modern master of solo jazz guitar playing and will share his inimitable talent and expertise in over 150 HD video lessons that range from simple tunes to highly advanced playing. The extensive video curriculum is presented on the innovative ArtistWorks online platform, allowing Taylor to use the latest internet video exchange technology to break the barrier of one-sided learning.
NAPA, Calif., March 24 -- Dr. Martin Taylor MBE is pleased to announce his partnership with online video exchange pioneers, ArtistWorks, Inc. The team will launch the Martin Taylor Guitar Academy (MTGA) on April 15, enabling students from around the world to receive a unique interactive education with the jazz guitar virtuoso online. Martin Taylor has established an extraordinary career as an internationally acclaimed musician, and his distinctive style has seen him recognized as a veritable modern master of solo jazz guitar playing.
Taylor has enjoyed a remarkable musical career spanning four decades and is known as a true guitar innovator for his ability to syncopate rapid bass lines with the guitar melody, often incorporating thumb-upstrokes on the bass strings for a distinct rhythmic quality. Taylor is widely recognized for his acoustic group "The Spirit of Django" and collaboration with musicians from various genres including, Stephane Grappelli, Chet Atkins, Bill Wyman, George Harrison, Dionne Warwick, Sacha Distel, Bryn Terfel, David Grisman and Jamie Cullum.
Taylor is an Honorary Doctor of the University of Paisley, Scotland, and in 2002 was appointed MBE (Member of the British Empire) "For Services to Jazz Music" by HM Queen Elizabeth of England. Taylor has received a long list of prestigious awards, including recognition by the International Association for Jazz Education. With the advent of the MTGA partnership, he will now preside over a worldwide student body of solo and fingerstyle players.
Taylor will share his inimitable talent and expertise in over 150 HD video lessons that range from simple tunes to highly advanced playing. The extensive video curriculum is presented on the innovative ArtistWorks online platform, allowing Taylor to use the latest internet video exchange technology to break the barrier of one-sided learning. Taylor personally instructs students through the video exchange system -- using a simple webcam, students can submit a video of themselves practicing their online lessons, which Taylor will review and issue a Video Response. Both videos are then posted together on the site so that the entire online community can learn, 24/7. Video submission is not required, study is self-paced. Students will be able to access multiple versions of most lessons, including an overhead perspective as well as slowed down and pitch-corrected videos. Perhaps the most anticipated feature of the MTGA lessons is the transcription -- Martin Taylor's work is notoriously difficult to transcribe and will be a valuable reference tool for students for mastering each lesson. The MTGA incorporates fully featured social media, including Student Profile Pages, Messaging, Forums and Chat -- uniting the world of solo and fingerstyle guitarists in one central place. The Martin Taylor Guitar Academy resides at http://www.MartinTaylorGuitar.com.
The MTGA launch closely coincides with the release of Taylor's newest recording. To mark the 100th Anniversary of the birth of Django Reinhardt, one of the founders of European jazz, Martin Taylor has reformed his award winning group "Spirit of Django" after a 15 year hiatus. The new album is entitled "Last Train to Hauteville." If you can imagine the ideal soundtrack to driving through the scented country roads of France on a hot lazy summer's day then it would be the music of Martin Taylor's Spirit of Django. Learn more about Martin Taylor at http://www.MartinTaylor.com.
About ArtistWorks
The ArtistWorks online visual education format allows virtuoso musicians to "Teach the World" by presenting their full method, technique or curriculum in HD video to subscribing students of their sites. Simple webcams are used by the students to submit videos to the Artist through the site, for critique and guidance if they want personalized instruction. The Artists manage the video flow by using the Video Management System created and owned by ArtistWorks, Inc. (patent pending). Regardless of whether or not students participate in exchanging videos with the Artist, these "Video Exchanges" are posted for all subscribing students to learn from. This groundbreaking use of video exchange for the instruction of musical instruments has been implemented at Jimmy Bruno Guitar Institute, the Qbert Skratch University, Andreas Oberg Guitar Universe, Peery Piano Online, Tony Trischka School of Banjo and Howard Levy Harmonica School. The new service is ideal for organizations that lack dedicated staffing to document network resources or need to focus IT resources on strategic projects, as well as those centralizing IT management or that have recently completed a merger, acquisition or divestiture.
"Most businesses today rely on technology to manage their business, and many IT departments still struggle with knowing the true scope and complexity of their IT environment," said Bart Vansevenant, director - enterprise solutions development, Verizon Business. "Verizon Enterprise Analysis Service provides a comprehensive baseline assessment of an organization's IT infrastructure and can serve as a valuable tool to help enterprises rein in costs, make the most of IT capital investments and develop plans to improve network and application performance, and secure sensitive data."
The 2009 Verizon Data Breach Investigations Report highlights the connection between data breaches and unknown systems, data, connections or privileges on corporate networks. During 2008, roughly half of the data breaches investigated by Verizon Business revealed at least one type of "unknown," underscoring the importance to knowing what is connected to the corporate infrastructure.
How Verizon Enterprise IT Analysis Service Works
Verizon Business installs a temporary appliance within the client's network to measure utilization, map data flows, identify applications, and pinpoint attached devices. This provides the data for a comprehensive report on what is currently running over a business' network, as well as recommendations for improvement and methods to potentially reduce costs.
Verizon Enterprise IT Analysis Service is available globally on a per location basis and includes hardware installation, discovery, analysis and development of recommendations. A typical engagement lasts four weeks.
Verizon Business offers a comprehensive suite of professional consulting services designed to help enterprises make informed strategic IT investment decisions. For more information, visit the Verizon Business IT consulting services Web site.

Extend Windows Server 2008 With EASEUS Partition Master Server, No Tweaking, No Fuss!
NEW YORK, March 23 -- Many IT managers ask, is a Windows Server 2008 partition manager available? Windows server 2008, which has expanded existing technology and added new features to enable organizations to increase the reliability and flexibility of their server infrastructures, is often the platform of choice for many server users. Therefore, a Windows server partition manager will definitely be an essential tool for efficient Windows server 2008 hard disk management.
Although you may not use a partition manager often, when you do need it, you'll be glad it's there. Though Windows Server 2008 offers a new collection of disk management commands that can allow a disk to be extended or shrunk while online, it is actually pretty limited. EASEUS Partition Master Server can simplify the task to extend Windows sever 2008 and save time and money.
EASEUS Partition Master Server Edition, a leading and innovative Windows server partition management software to maximize server performance and minimize server downtime, works well under Windows server 2000, 2003 and 2008, for both 32 bit and 64 bit. Providing both basic and advanced partitioning features to help you extend system partitions, repartition hard disks, free up disk space, resize and move a partition, etc.
You will be free from partition disk troubles like "system partition out of space." Most importantly, it enables you to extend a NTFS system partition without rebooting -- no downtime, no data loss!
One user had this to say about EASEUS Partition Master Server Edition: "I am a happy customer! I recently bought, downloaded and installed the latest version of Partition Master Server edition so I could extend my C: drive -- VOILA! It worked perfectly, no glitches, no hang-ups, only a perfectly extended C: partition. Now instead of 500MB of free space on C: drive I have 20 gigs of free space. Totally awesome -- and thanks for a great product."
The company specializes in disk management, data recovery and backup software for Windows OS. Its other major products are Data Recovery Wizard, Partition Table Doctor and Todo Backup. For more information, visit http://www.easeus.com/.
Sony Expands Full Line of HD Security Systems with New IPELA Products
More than 10 New Cameras Join Encoders, Recorders and Software Solutions on Display at ISC West 2010
LAS VEGAS, March 23 -- (ISC West Booth #16086) Sony Electronics is highlighting more than 10 new high-definition network security cameras, along with its full complement of HD video security technologies at ISC West.
"Sony's commitment to HD is evident in the release of our latest security products," said Miguel Lazatin, senior manager, marketing, Sony Security Division. "Leveraging top quality imaging technology developed for broadcast and feature film work - Sony cameras offer integrators and end users the highest quality image in some of the most challenging security environments."
The new HD cameras are grouped into three series. The E Series includes entry-level models that combine high picture quality and a robust feature-set at a cost-effective price. The X Series offers cameras for unique surveillance installations. Sporting an ultra-compact housing and stylish design, the X series is used in environments that require high performance in a small footprint. The V Series is Sony's flagship line, incorporating the latest technological advancements, such as View-DR and Distributed Enhanced Processing Architecture (DEPA) Advanced.
Sony's superior picture quality can be attributed to innovations such as View-DR and Exmor(TM) sensors. View-DR technology incorporates the latest in Wide-D technology with Visibility Enhancer, and XDNR allows these cameras to provide quality HD images, even in the most challenging backlit environments. Sony Exmor CMOS sensors ensure the capture of high definition images in low light environments. Many of the models incorporate in-camera analytics offering system feedback and image analysis in real time.
The new cameras are available in a variety of form factors including minidome, fixed/box and some with a low-profile bullet shape. Most models are also available in weatherproof and vandal-proof versions for high traffic, outdoor installations.
Sony will also be showing new network encoders and storage servers. The Sony SNT-EX104 is a stand-alone, 4-channel video encoder designed to meet a wide range of system requirements. This latest addition to Sony's full line of network video encoders is designed to facilitate the migration from analog-based video systems to IP video surveillance. Unlike competitive encoder products, the SNT-EX104 incorporates proprietary Sony technologies including XDNR, Visibility Enhancer (VE) and Dynamic Frame Integration (DFI) that improve the quality of the analog video signal for clearer, brighter and sharper images. Additionally, the SNT-EX104 can stream 30fps in D1 resolution in JPEG, MPEG-4 or H.264 and includes DEPA Advanced analytics.
The Sony NSR-1000-series of network surveillance recording servers provides network storage for analog, digital, HD and SD cameras. With storage capacity ranging from 500GB to 4TB, each recorder can support up to 20 cameras. These recorders utilize an open-platform design for easy setup and operation, and even works with equipment from other manufactures, including the selected Axis IP cameras. The NSR-1000 server includes monitoring and search modules that incorporate Sony's DEPA technology to increase the accuracy of object detection capabilities.
"The hallmark of Sony's full line of security products on display at ISC West 2010 is ease of installation and operation," said Lazatin. "This means Sony offers flexibility; must have features and reliability in its HD cameras, encoders, servers and recorders for analog and IP systems."
