ConnectWise Launches Feature Rich Phase 4 of ConnectWise 2010
Hot features include API Additions for Business Intelligence, beta version of browser independence, and better ITIL compliance.
TAMPA, Fla., Aug. 23 -- ConnectWise, developer of the leading business operating system designed exclusively for IT service providers, VARs and MSPs, today announced the successful completion of its fourth phase of updates to the industry leading ConnectWise software. The new ConnectWise 2010 includes enhancements to sales/marketing, customer relationship management (CRM), scheduling, reporting, project and service tracking, inventory and purchasing, invoicing and financial management.
"These updates to ConnectWise 2010 represent our most user-driven enhancements yet," said Arnie Bellini, ConnectWise CEO. "The new features deliver increased automation so partners can do far more with fewer clicks and less time. This is efficiency kicked up a notch."
Highlights of the new features include:
Functionality
This release of ConnectWise 2010 now includes beta versions of browser independence for Apple Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.
More mass record updating options
There are now more options for performing mass updates to service tickets, sales activities, and invoicing such as the ability to change the status of a group of tickets, change record types, or delete. The new features make it easy to perform mass updates to billing terms, tax codes, currency, time zones, and more.
New service ticket sub-types to support ITIL
New service ticket sub-types help automate and streamline routine services by standardizing how IT companies provide their service. Templates can be created for different services that list standard tasks on the service ticket. To be more ITIL compliant ConnectWise created sub-types to provide guidance on how to coordinate and process common activities for your line of business. For example, under the service type "email," the sub-types could be "end-user problem," "spam filter problem," or "mailbox size exceeds limit." Associated with each subtype can be a list of pre-set tasks to complete.
Additional automation options
ConnectWise "Tracks" have quickly become one of the most useful functions among users for their automation capabilities for business processes, sales, marketing and more. New updates to Tracks deliver more control and flexibility to automatically create service tickets, historical activities, add contacts to marketing groups, and more. ConnectWise 2010 generates an audit trail of these operations, and can be set to send automated emails only during operating hours.
API additions and improvements
New APIs provide access to more data within ConnectWise, including Reporting and Purchasing. An enhanced API architecture is easier to use with true SOAP endpoints and true web methods for each API action. The reporting API will help your company analyze business data and increase business intelligence.
Designed exclusively for the IT Channel, ConnectWise is the leading business operating system for IT service providers, MSPs, technology consultants, integrators, and developers. Today more than 41,000 IT professionals rely on ConnectWise to achieve greater accountability, operational efficiency and profitability. ConnectWise fully integrates CRM, sales, help desk tickets, projects, managed services, SLAs, dispatching, time and expenses to streamline IT companies. DRI Management Systems Launches New Mortgage Default Management Platform
DRI's Rincon(TM) web-based technology brings new speed, sophistication and results for overburdened loan servicers tackling defaults, foreclosures, bankruptcy and REOs
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., Aug. 23 -- DRI Management Systems, Inc., the leader in default process management software, announces its new web-based loan servicing application for the mortgage industry, Rincon(TM). The Rincon platform sets new standards for performance in default management software, a technology segment virtually created in 1985 by DRI and its CEO, Duke Olrich, during the savings and loan crisis. Back in those pre-Internet days, the levels of functionality now available in Rincon could only be imagined. The same could be said in today's financial crisis, in which overburdened servicers struggle to keep pace with huge demands for borrower assistance. Rincon is specifically designed to help relieve the most nagging and expensive of these problems, doubling or tripling the workload each servicing specialist can handle.
Rincon (named by surfing enthusiast Duke Olrich for a legendary California wave spot) includes four modules in its initial release:
-- Loss Mitigation
-- Bankruptcy
-- Foreclosure
-- REO
Building on over 25 years of hard-won practical experience with DRI's default management software, the new platform zeroes in on servicers' most critical issues. First, the .Net browser-based platform is designed for accelerated deployment and easy implementation. Secondly, the designers were sensitive to servicer input and built the system with very robust workflow processes, supported by user-defined and automated business rules. This specification was especially important, as servicers desired to enable each borrower-facing associate to manage significantly more cases than they are currently able to handle without the technology.
The web-based design embeds letters, forms and other essential workflow items into the automated environments of each specialized module, along with pre-authorized lender and investor parameters and workout modeling. All essential third-party services are available with a DRI-sponsored vendor network and can be ordered either as needed or automatically by the rules engine. Examples of these required services include inspections, broker price opinions, appraisals, credit reports, title reports, skip tracing, flood certifications and bankruptcy and foreclosure attorney referrals. With DRI's automation, modifications and other types of workout arrangements can be effected on a single phone call with many borrowers.
"The goal," says DRI Management Systems CEO Duke Olrich, "is to empower and enable one person to do the work of two or even three, using automation designed to work seamlessly with existing servicing systems." Default management technology has never been more important than now, Olrich feels, based on more than two decades of building solutions to make servicers more effective. "This mortgage crisis makes all previous ones pale by comparison," he says. "Without well-designed and well-executed technology assistance, lenders and servicers are at a great disadvantage in dealing with this volume of defaults."
Steven Horne, CEO of Wingspan Portfolio Advisors, a Dallas-based specialty servicer, agrees. "We are in the business of finding ways to save loans from foreclosure. Without DRI's technology, our success rate would not approach the levels we are currently seeing," he says. "We are now deploying Rincon's stratospheric new capabilities and are already seeing the tremendous impact it can make in managing defaulting loans more effectively," Horne notes. "Not only does the technology aid us in handling cases more swiftly and efficiently, it ultimately is helping us keep more families in their homes."
Convenient online demonstrations of Rincon are being offered by calling DRI for an appointment or by arrangement on the company's website, http://www.DRIDefault.com.

National Instruments Introduces Fiber Optic Sensor Interrogator for PXI Express
New Module Overcomes Noise Susceptibility, Transmission Distance and Other Limitations of Conventional Sensors
AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 23, 2010 -- National Instruments (NASDAQ:NATI) today announced the NI PXIe-4844 optical sensor interrogator, a two-slot 3U PXI Express module for fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors. FBG sensors operate by reflecting a wavelength of light that corresponds to changes in physical phenomena such as strain and temperature. Unlike conventional electrical sensors, FBG sensors are nonconductive, electrically passive and immune to electromagnetic interference, making them a safe and reliable alternative in environments subject to noise, corrosion or extreme weather. The transmission medium is standard optical fiber instead of copper wire, making it possible to take measurements over long distances of up to 10 km. Engineers and scientists can use FBG sensors for the most common measurement types, including strain, temperature and pressure, and several sensors can be daisy chained along a single optical fiber to greatly reduce the size, weight and complexity of the measurement system.
The NI PXIe-4844 optical sensor interrogator is the latest addition to the NI SC Express family of sensor measurement modules for PXI Express. It features four optical channels that are simultaneously scanned at 10 Hz. Each channel has an 80 nm wavelength range (1510 to 1590 nm), which can scan 20 or more FBG sensors per channel (more than 80 FBG sensors per module, depending on the sensor range). For high-channel-count applications, engineers and scientists can further extend the maximum number of FBG sensors per module by connecting one or more optical channels to an external optical multiplexer or by adding more NI PXIe-4844 modules in the same PXI chassis.
In addition to multiple channels, the NI PXIe-4844 features an optical core that combines a high-power, low-noise swept wavelength laser with fiber Fabry-Perot tunable filter technology from Micron Optics. The module delivers a wavelength accuracy, repeatability and stability of 1 pm, which is equivalent to sensor accuracies of approximately 1.2 microstrain and 0.1 degrees Celsius for FBG strain and temperature sensors, respectively. Unlike most instruments, the interrogator does not require periodic external calibration as every scan made by the NI PXIe-4844 is calibrated to an onboard NIST-traceable wavelength reference.
Engineers and scientists can program the NI PXIe-4844 with easy-to-use configuration and driver software to shorten setup and configuration time. The module includes the NI-OSI Explorer utility for automatic sensor detection and simplified sensor configuration as well as the NI-OSI driver software with easy-to-use LabVIEW API for acquiring measurements in scaled physical units. Using NI LabVIEW software, engineers and scientists can view, log and analyze the sensor data. Applications in LabVIEW easily can be extended to also include synchronization with other sensor types, instruments or control systems using intuitive graphical icons and wires that resemble a flowchart. LabVIEW also offers integration with thousands of hardware devices and provides hundreds of built-in libraries for advanced analysis and data visualization.
The industry-standard PXI platform for measurement and automation provides the industry's highest-performance timing and synchronization capabilities and the high-throughput PCI Express bus. New Look Offers Engaging, Animated Design for Players at all Levels
NEW YORK, Aug. 23 -- Verizon and its games-on-demand partner Exent have launched a major redesign of the Verizon Games service portal and desktop application.
The new app delivers a more intuitive and interactive experience for customers exploring the world's largest PC games-on-demand subscription service, with more than 1,500 game choices. Drawing on insights and feedback from its network of users and on-demand game service providers, Exent designed an animated and easy-to-use game-navigation service. Unlike other game services, the new Verizon Games app, built with GameTanium(TM), creates a more engaging, game-like environment designed to appeal to a mass-market audience.
Verizon Games also gives new customers a 14-day free trial of the service, with unlimited access to all the games in the online catalogue. Customers have the option of canceling their subscription at any time.
As the newest gaming solution on the market, Verizon's on-demand app is designed to captivate gamers at all levels, from first-time players to veteran or core game players.
"The early positive feedback from our test gamers has been overwhelming, and we've been looking forward to the opportunity to open up the new Verizon Games experience to all of our customers," said Jason Henderson, games product manager at Verizon. "With the new app and website, people will get the same unparalleled customer experience from their PC games service as they do from Verizon's TV, Internet and phone services."
The new games service captures the essence of touch-screen devices, with its animated, fluid interface and a unique, curved layout. Users can browse the entire catalog of games without having to jump from page to page or constantly click the "back" button to return to a main page.
The new app also delivers a rich gaming-community program that has become a very popular and valuable service for users. Once users have created their profile, they can create an avatar, decorate their own 3D animated Verizon Games Lounge with virtual items and earn trophies and Prize Points while playing games on the service.
"The Verizon Games platform is the result of much end-user research," said Jason Akel, vice president/general manager of Exent. "We are quite proud of the resulting interface, which is highly accessible to gamers of all types. At the same time, it was important to us that the interface emphasizes function over form so as not to distract from what the users are really there for -- the world's largest catalog of PC downloadable games."
In addition to traditional subscription packages, the Verizon Games app offers additional purchase options including one-hour test drives and direct purchase and download of players' favorite games.

Hitlantis' Advanced User Interface is Adopted by Others
New Rdio Music Service Adopts Acclaimed Innovation
HELSINKI, August 23, 2010-- The international internet website and music service Hitlantis.com, with
the unique user interface it developed a year ago, has attracted worldwide
attention and interest since its launch. Now a new, recently announced music
service in the U.S. and Canada, Rdio, has decided to adopt the proven user
interface.
The bubble-like graphical interface developed by Hitlantis inspired the
creators of Rdio, who decided to facilitate their customers' music listening
experience by adopting the modern user interface.
Popular artists rise to the top and less-popular artists slip downward in
the interface developed by Hitlantis. At Hitlantis, popular artists are
closer to the center than less popular artists.
"Rdio's decision to adopt our design is a fine recognition of its merits.
We're delighted that the visual presentation style created by Hitlantis will
be followed," said managing director Marcus Tilgmann.
The world's most attractive service
The international company Hitlantis focuses on independent bands who do
not yet have a recording contract. You can listen to streaming music for
free, but you also can download the music by purchasing the bands' songs.
Hitlantis' bands receive an amazing 90 percent of the revenue from their
music, which has led to it being called "the world's most generous music
site." Artists who own the rights to their own music can upload their music
for free to Hitlantis, which is considered the world's most attractive music
service.
"With the help of Hitlantis' user interface Rdio succeeded in their North
American launch," Tilgmann says with satisfaction, and notes that the
applications are concrete examples of Web 4.0 thinking.
American television giants CNBC and CBS selected Hitlantis, the creator
of a new era in its field, as the most innovative music service; this
distinction naturally reached the ears of Rdio's creators.
Hitlantis is a new music community, established in May 2010. The service
brings together music-makers and consumers in a virtual world, and also in
real life. It gives users, for example, the opportunity to vote for their
favorites for live gigs. The user-friendly e-commerce music site Hitlantis
notably gives bands 90 percent of the revenue from music sold.
Verizon Wireless Completes Purchase of Centennial Communications Assets in Parts of Louisiana and Mississippi
BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Aug. 23 -- Verizon Wireless today announced it has purchased from AT&T certain operating assets of Centennial Communications Corp. in Louisiana and Mississippi for $235 million. The transaction was agreed to last year by Verizon Wireless and AT&T and satisfies certain divestiture requirements of the regulatory approvals needed for AT&T to complete its acquisition of Centennial Communications.
The purchase includes Centennial's spectrum licenses, network assets and more than 117,000 current customers in six service areas: Lafayette, Beauregard, Iberville and West Feliciana, La., and Claiborne and Copiah, Miss. (A complete list of parishes and counties included in the purchase appears at the end of this release).
Verizon Wireless will begin today to serve customers in the acquired Centennial markets. The company will continue to use the Centennial brand for the next several months as it works to convert Centennial's existing wireless network to CDMA technology. Verizon Wireless also will roll out high-speed mobile broadband service on a market-by-market basis in the newly acquired properties. The enhanced wireless network will allow customers to access the Internet and e-mail at broadband data speeds from their wireless devices, as well as view high-quality videos, and download music, games, ringtones and ringback tones.
Customers do not need to take any action at this time. For now, there are no changes to customers' calling plans or service. Before the network conversion in a particular area is complete, customers will receive a letter from Verizon Wireless explaining their service changeover. At that time, customers will have the opportunity to select a device comparable to their existing one at no additional cost or upgrade their device at a promotional price.
Verizon Wireless has invested more than $60 billion since it was formed - $5.7 billion on average every year - to increase the coverage and capacity of its premier nationwide network and to add new services.
The Centennial markets that will become part of Verizon Wireless include the following parishes or counties:
Louisiana: Acadia, Allen, Assumption Parish, Avoyelles, Beauregard, Cameron, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Iberia Parish, Iberville Parish, Jefferson Davis, Lafayette, Pointe Coupee, Saint Helena, Saint Landry, Saint Martin, Saint Mary Parish, Tangipahoa, Vermilion, Washington and West Feliciana.

The Kotex Brand is Taking the Lingerie Drawer from Drab to Fab!
Contest Offers Women the Chance to Star in Online Series Alongside Emmy Winning Performer Kathy Griffin and Stylist George Kotsiopoulos
DALLAS, Aug. 23 -- The right undergarments can keep you feeling fabulous all day, but women still keep unflattering, worn out lingerie around. Thanks to its Panty-Approved Protection, the Kotex brand is on a mission to help women throw out their worn undies, mangled bras and beat up pajamas and have teamed up with Emmy Award winning performer Kathy Griffin and celebrity stylist George Kotsiopoulos for "Kotex Project Makeunder." The program gives women who are ready to upgrade their lingerie drawer the chance to receive a head-to-toe "Makeunder" and star in an online video series documenting their experience.
"Even though they are the first thing you put on, undergarments are often overlooked when a woman is thinking about her outfit," said George Kotsiopoulos, a Hollywood stylist and fashion editor. "The right lingerie can help shape your look so it's important that women feel confident and comfortable in them."
Women who are ready to refresh their look can submit their drab lingerie story for a chance to win a "Makeunder" at http://www.KotexProjectMakeunder.com and consumers can vote on their favorite stories through September 12. Ten semi-finalists will be chosen to submit videos further documenting how their lingerie drawers lost their luster and three grand prize winners will win head-to-toe new looks from Kathy and George. A five-webisode series will document the winners' transformations through the expertise of George Kotsiopoulos and comedic and social commentary of Kathy Griffin. Created and produced by BUZZMEDIA, the webisode series will be co-written by Kathy Griffin.
"At one point, women's lingerie drawers used to be filled with fun, matching undergarments but over time, this drawer has become neglected without reason," said Aida Flick, brand director, Kotex. "We believe in the performance of our products so we are challenging women to put the Kotex brand protection to the test with the Panty-Approved program."
The Kotex brand line offers a variety of products including pads with the CleanSorb cover that helps protect from leaks. The Kotex brand Panty-Approved program started in March 2010 and includes print and digital advertising, an updated website and a 7-day Panty Challenge.

Atari and Cryptic Studios Announce Neverwinter(TM) Coming in 2011 for PC
Storyline for new Co-op Roleplaying Game Inspired by R.A. Salvatore's Upcoming Book Trilogy
LOS ANGELES, Aug. 23 -- Atari, one of the world's most recognized videogame publishers and Cryptic Studios, the acclaimed developers behind City of heroes, City of Villains, Champions Online and Star Trek Online, announced today the development of Neverwinter for PC. Neverwinter is a new online roleplaying game based on Wizards of the Coast's global property Dungeons & Dragons and the beloved city of Neverwinter.
Once a bustling location, Neverwinter has faced a great many disasters in the past hundred years. Rule of the city remains unclear following the unfortunate demise of the last Lord of Neverwinter and factions still battle for dominance after the all-consuming Spellplague took a high toll on the population. Even Neverwinter's dead are beginning to rise from their graves and march upon the city they once called home.
"We're beyond thrilled to develop a brand new version of Neverwinter. It's been years since the original became a gaming icon and we're honored to work with such a great franchise," said Jack Emmert, COO of Cryptic Studios. "We've been working closely with Wizards of the Coast and R.A. Salvatore to create an authentic D&D adventure filled with compelling fiction and exciting gameplay."
In Neverwinter, players choose to become one of five classic D&D classes and team up with friends or computer-controlled allies to form five-person co-op groups. Players also create their own storylines and quests utilizing an extremely user-friendly content generation system, tentatively codenamed Forge.
"Wizards of the Coast is excited to invite millions of fans back to Neverwinter with the launch of R.A. Salvatore's Gauntlgrym," said Liz Schuh, Brand Director for Dungeons & Dragons at Wizards of the Coast. "And we're excited about the prospects for great digital gaming experiences based on this epic world."
Neverwinter for PC is scheduled to release in Q4 2011 and is part of a multi-platform event, including a book trilogy from New York Times best-selling author R. A. Salvatore and a tabletop roleplaying game from Wizards of the Coast. Book one in Salvatore's Neverwinter trilogy, titled Gauntlgrym, releases on October 5 of this year and lays the groundwork for the Neverwinter storyline. The novel previews the settings, characters and monsters from the PC game and details the events that lead up to this highly anticipated PC gaming experience.
Based in Los Gatos, CA, Cryptic Studios is a leading developer of role-playing and massively multiplayer online role-playing games. Cryptic is responsible for developing several AAA titles, including Star Trek Online, Champions Online, City of Heroes, City of Villains and Neverwinter. Telstra Selects Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi as an In-Home Distribution Option for its New Internet Video Service
Ruckus Smart 802.11n Technology Lets Australian Consumers Connect Telstra's Popular T-Box(TM) to the Internet without Wires
Ruckus Wireless(TM) today announced that it has been selected by Telstra, Australia's largest telecommunications provider, to offer Smart 802.11n Wi-Fi systems to enable wireless distribution of its popular Internet-based broadband video service within subscriber homes.
Ruckus Wireless is providing Telstra with its award-winning 802.11n Smart Wi-Fi system for use with its new T-Box(TM) set-top box which combines BigPond® TV, movie downloads, HD free-to-air channels and a personal video recorder. The Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi systems are being offered as an option for Telstra customers who need to connect T-Box(TM) beyond the reach of an Ethernet connection or normal Wi-Fi connectivity.
The Ruckus 802.11n Smart Wi-Fi systems used by Telstra are based on high-speed 802.11n 5GHz technology and are specifically designed for high-reliability and long-range transmission of IP-based high definition video. Unlike any other Wi-Fi system available today, Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi systems integrate patented smart antenna technology that focuses Wi-Fi signals only where they are needed while constantly steering transmissions over the highest performing signal paths.
According to Telstra, the Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi system was selected due to its ease of use, superior handling of streaming video content and ability to automatically adapt to obstacles and interference that typically cause packet loss, resulting in pixilation of video content when viewing.
To enable picture-perfect wireless video, Telstra customers simply purchase and plug in a pre-configured Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi system that includes a 5GHz 802.11n access point and 5GHz wireless adapter. The Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi AP attaches to the Telstra home gateway via Ethernet and the Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi adapter connects to an Ethernet port on Telstra's new T-Box(TM) set-top box. No configuration or cabling is required, giving Telstra customers the freedom to place their T-Boxes and televisions virtually anywhere in the home.
Smart Wi-Fi Dominates the Market for In-Home Multimedia Distribution
Smart Wi-Fi, the newest innovation in 802.11 technology, uses advances in intelligent antenna arrays and quality of service (Smart Wi-Fi) to effectively triple the range, reliability and performance of Wi-Fi communications. Smart Wi-Fi works by continuously routing Wi-Fi signals over the best and highest performing paths while steering these Wi-Fi signals around interference as it is experienced. This enables Smart Wi-Fi systems to automatically adapt to the changing Wi-Fi environment and support real-time, delay-sensitive applications such as streaming digital video.
Based on patented technology, the Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi system is the world's first and only Wi-Fi solution specifically developed to reliably transmit IP-based streaming digital video over standard 802.11 technology. The Ruckus MediaFlex system now dominates the market for in-home multimedia distribution, having been adopted by over 125 broadband operators and service providers around the world.
To date, more than one million Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi units have been installed in subscriber homes to support commercial video services around the world by the world's leading telecommunications companies including Belgacom, AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, PCCW, Swisscom, Telecom Austria, SingTel, Telefonica O2 Czech Republic, Telefonica Del Sur, Telenor and many others.

What's more, the register number is gradually increasing.

In order to express our sincere thanks to the public, we're offering big savings and discounts for our customers from August 23 to August 25," said Kevin Ellison, the marketing manager of http://www.bagsok.com/ .
"Three days" is quite a short period, but the sales might boost into a big volume. After all, most people tend to go for clearance sales in this season because of the spectacular savings. However, there comes another question: Is http://www.bagsok.com/ offering unmarketable goods?
As to this suspicion, Denny Hampton, the marketing director of Bagsok.com stated, "We promise to provide fashion bags. Bagsok.com is grateful and we are willing to do something for our customers. Meanwhile, it's also a good opportunity to publicize our store. Summer clearance is just a coincidence and a pretty chance as well."

HFI Launches Usability Certification for Organizations and Designs
MUMBAI, India, August 23, 2010--
- Organizations Can Now Have a "Certified Practice in Usability(TM)" and
Submit a Product, Application, or Website to be a "Certified Usable
Design(TM)"
Human Factors International (HFI) announced today an extension of their
successful program for certification of usability practitioners (Certified
Usability Analysts(TM)) which currently provides certification to about 10%
of the world's usability practitioners. As a service to the industry, they
will provide the ability for organizations to have certification for their
level of institutionalization of usability. They can be certified as Level
III, IV, and V depending on their achievement on HFI's Usability Maturity
Model. The certified organizations can then submit a product, application, or
website to become certified for usable design.
A "Certified Practice in Usability" will have a validated level of
maturity based upon the presence of trained and certified staff, user
centered design methods, standards, and tools. The organization will also be
rated for its executive attention to usability, organizational structure, and
culture of care for customers. Each organizational submission will be
systematically reviewed and audited by HFI staff to ensure compliance.
A "Certified Usable Design" can only result from the submission from a
certified practice and it generally bears the label of the level of maturity
of that practice. Certification assures that an approved user centered design
process has been followed and that certified staff have attested that each
deliverable document has been appropriately completed. The internal staff
must also attest to the usability of the end design. The completed submission
must prove the process and approvals. HFI staff will then review the
documents and the design; rejecting any submission that fails to meet
systematic criteria of good practice.
Eric Schaffer, CEO of Human Factors International, says, "It's time that
purchasers can be assured that they will not be tortured with technology.
They should be able to buy with an assured level of usability."
Human Factors International (HFI) is the world's leading strategic
advisor and provider of user experience design services and training to both
private and public sectors. HFI helps clients design websites and products
that are persuasive, engaging, and easy to use. Its HFI Framework(TM) is the
only user-centered design process that has been the basis for ISO
certification. It is built on principles from human-computer interaction,
ergonomics, psychology, computer science, and marketing. Through an
integrated blend of strategy, assessment, research, design, validation, and
institutionalized usability, as well as training and certification, HFI's

Lantiq Announces Family of Gigabit Speed Gateway Processors with Industry Leading Performance, Flexibility to Support New Digital Home Services
MUNICH and NEUBIBERG, Germany, Aug. 23 -- Lantiq, a leading supplier of broadband access and home networking technologies, today announced the addition of three single-chip Gigabit Ethernet gateway solutions to its XWAY(TM) xRX family. The new GRX series meets the Gigabit processing requirements of DOCSIS3.0, VDSL2 and xPON access technologies and provides best-in-class performance for wireless connectivity, such as concurrent operation of 802.11n WLAN at 2.4 and 5 GHz with aggregate throughput up to 270 Mbps (Megabits per second). The highest performance device in the family, XWAY(TM) GRX288, achieves routing throughput up to 2 Gbps to meet the requirements of xPON connectivity.
The new XWAY(TM) GRX168, GRX188 and GRX288 ICs are based on the same architecture as Lantiq's successful XWAY(TM) ARX100 and VRX200 ADSL2+ / VDSL2 solutions, with a 32-bit MIPS CPU core and separate 32-bit Protocol Processor Engine (PPE). The IPv6-ready PPE offloads all data routing from the CPU for optimal throughput at much lower system clock speeds than alternative chips and supports Quality of Service (QoS) features that enable smooth handling for concurrent serving of IPTV, voice lines, and data on wired or wireless LANs. The common architecture of the xRX family allows system builders to produce a complete portfolio of home gateway solutions using Lantiq's Universal Gateway (UGW) software platform, which minimizes development time and cost.
With the GRX series, system developers can quickly produce platforms that support innovative new home network services deployed on an independent gateway device or delivered independently from typical broadband services. This emerging category of "Over-The-Top" services may be linked to a residence's broadband gateway via Ethernet/Gbit Ethernet, WLAN, or the emerging G.hn standard.
"As the range of applications running on or beside residential gateways broadens, system developers face challenges to meet operator requirements and match device functionality to suit specific customer needs within tight time and budget constraints," said Ulrich Huewels, Senior Vice President and Head of the Customer Premises Equipment Business Unit at Lantiq. "The GRX family provides full flexibility for our customers to design a range of solutions while controlling R&D spending. Lantiq continues to deliver on its promise: one investment, many applications."
Lantiq's UGW software, the primary development platform for customers, is a production-ready Linux-based software package that complies with all carrier requirements for service deployment. Features include full support of IPv6 addressing and TR-069 with its widely adopted broadband service management functions. This reduces development time and cost for standard features and allows the system provider to concentrate resources on differentiation of the gateway feature set and value-added applications. Lantiq's TR-069 implementation is certified by Motive to be interoperable with the industry leading ACS vendor's implementation, further helping system integrators achieve timely market introduction for new products.
The UGW package also includes pre-integrated drivers for Lantiq's extensive offering of companion chips for use with xRX ICs. Lantiq is uniquely able to provide practically all of the system level silicon required in a complete solution design, including 802.11n WLAN supporting carrier-grade video, Fast and Gigabit Ethernet Switch and PHY (Physical Layer), DECT/CAT-iq(TM), VoIP and analog voice.
Additional common features across the GRX family include integrated data encryption for IPsec and energy savings features that enable designs to meet the recently defined 2011/2012 requirements of the European Union Code of Conduct (CoC) on Energy Consumption of Broadband Equipment. Lantiq's continuous effort to increase energy efficiency will put customers in ideal position to also meet 2013/2014 CoC requirements that are currently under definition. Each IC also features a full suite of device interfaces for memory (DRAM and FLASH), PCI, SDIO and UARTs in support of differentiated applications and end products.
Specific Product Features
The XWAY(TM) GRX288 achieves routing throughput up to 2 Gbps to easily meet the requirements of xPON connectivity. In conjunction with Lantiq's WAVE300, the gateway solution demonstrates WLAN throughput of up to 270 Mbps in concurrent mode. Together with the PPE the routing subsystem forms a 1.4GHz CPU cluster, offering an equivalent of 5 Giga Instructions per Second (GIPS) of processing power.
The integrated Ethernet switch can be flexibly configured as either four Fast Ethernet or two Gbit Ethernet ports, while support for additional off-chip PHYs enables up to five Gbit Ethernet ports in a system design without the need for an external switch. Other features include support for either DDR1 or DDR2 memory and a PCI Express port. The wide range of interfaces grants full flexibility to system integrators to combine the GRX288 with any solutions on the market that fit their cost and performance needs.
The XWAY(TM) GRX188 adds support for VoIP via Lantiq's SLIC 100 (Subscriber Line Interface Circuit IC) and COSIC Modem, the company's DECT/CAT-iq(TM) solution. The added voice service can deliver HD quality even when very heavy routing tasks are performed by the multi-service gateway.
The XWAY(TM) GRX168 solution targets Gigabit Ethernet routers with or without the support of WLAN. Two USB 2.0 ports provide additional connectivity and support for common peripherals. In addition to the UGW package, Lantiq offers also a dedicated video bridge solution with its WAVE300 802.11n WLAN IC, which supports up to four HD streams in parallel.
Availability, Additional Information
The GRX family of devices is now available (GRX288 in sample quantities). Lantiq also offers several reference designs, including a video bridge and multi-service gateway configurations. For more information about Lantiq's GRX family of products, please visit: http://www.lantiq.com/GRX

Lantiq's New Wireless LAN Chips Set Benchmarks for Reach and Robustness
Beam-Forming Ensures Best-in-Class Reach and Integrated Thick MAC Processor Cuts the Main Processor Load in Half
MUNICH and NEUBIBERG, Germany, Aug. 23 -- Lantiq, a leading supplier of broadband access and home networking technologies, today introduced its latest 802.11n WLAN solutions -- the XWAY(TM) WAVE300 family. Featuring advanced beam-forming technology and an integrated "Thick MAC" processor, WAVE300 has been demonstrated to deliver up to 300 percent increased reach and radio coverage compared to existing solutions, while maintaining links with a minimum or even zero-packet-error rate requirement.
The WAVE300 beam-forming technology is capable of intelligently providing high-bandwidth data rates directly to end user devices, regardless of whether the device is "beam-forming ready" or not. Enriched by the "Thick MAC" processor, the Lantiq 11n solution is also at least twice as efficient with its routing capacity giving it superior energy and cost efficiency.
"The use of WLAN is changing. Originally developed to connect notebooks to routers, new user scenarios such as connecting smart phones to high-data broadband applications and supporting HD video links are now required," said Ulrich Huewels, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Lantiq's CPE Business Unit. "Each scenario has specific requirements that our best-in-class WLAN solutions meet in terms of reach and Quality of Service."
The WLAN market shows significant growth. According to In-Stat the market will see an increase in the number of Wi-Fi-enabled devices, from over 500 million in 2009 to nearly 2 billion pieces in 2014. An obstacle as the market becomes more diversified is that related WLAN solutions have to address different application needs.
Using the Lantiq beam-forming technology helps manufacturers extend the reach of their WLAN devices and literally eliminate dead wireless spots for users at home. These advanced technologies result in about 8-10dB increased gain and an up to 300 percent increased reach compared to standard WLAN. The WAVE300 family also significantly enhances the streaming of HDTV via WLAN. Compared to existing solutions where only best-effort streaming is available, the Lantiq solution enables a full wireless IP HDTV experience. This results in sustainable bit rates and elimination of pixel errors, allowing multiple simultaneous HD streams without packet loss. On reference systems, Lantiq demonstrated the transmission of four HD streams with 20 Mbps simultaneously with maximum reach.
About the XWAY(TM) WAVE300
The WAVE300 architecture intelligently offloads the main processor by executing all real-time and processor-intensive operations on the "Thick MAC," which results in higher throughput and more free performance on the SoC for other applications and services. The Lantiq 11n family achieves a maximum 3x3 MIMO (Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output) data rates up to 200 Mbps net throughput on single band implementation and dual-mode capable chips in the family reach up to 270 Mbps net throughput in concurrent mode operation.
Lantiq provides several software and pin-compatible versions of the WAVE300, all in 65nm, optimized for various application needs, from low-cost standard WLAN 11n 2x2 products to video-grade WLAN. Fully compliant with IEEE 802.11n, it addresses ADSL/VDSL routers, gateways and IADs, Gigabit-WLAN routers, video-bridges, set-top boxes and digital TV applications. With its versatile interface, the Lantiq 11n solution can be connected to any host processor with a PCI, mPCI or PCIe interface.
The WAVE300 (baseband/MAC and HF part) is available in single-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz variants and a dual-band device. The WAVE300 family is available in volume production and Lantiq offers different reference packages as design-in support. For more information, please visit: http://www.lantiq.com/WAVE300.

MUNICH and NEUBIBERG, Germany, Aug. 23 -- Lantiq, a leading supplier of broadband access and home networking technologies, today introduced its latest generation 65nm chipset for design of carrier linecards supporting the global VDSL2 and ADSL/2/2+ standards. VINAX(TM) V3 gives network equipment vendors a single solution to meet carrier requirements for all xDSL deployments, featuring a level of integration unsurpassed in the industry, the flexibility to support multiple transmission profiles and emerging technology enhancements, and leading low-power performance.
Highlights of the VINAX V3 chipset include:
-- Industry-leading power consumption of just 0.9W per channel to meet
future green design goals for broadband infrastructure, including
requirements defined in the EU Code of Conduct (CoC) on Energy
Consumption of Broadband Equipment. VINAX V3 also is the first VDSL2
solution to work with either Class AB or low-power Class H line
drivers.
-- Smallest package size and highest channel count (per chipset) in the
industry allows double VDSL2 linecard density compared to all
on-market alternatives. Each VINAX V3 chipset occupies an area of 29
mm x 29 mm for 16 channels in VDSL2 Profile 17a. An 8-channel solution
for VDSL2 profile 30a requires 30 percent less area.
-- Industry first on-chip integration of a MELT controller for remote
line testing by carriers with no external equipment needed.
-- Overall, feature integration on the VINAX V3 chipset reduces the
external Bill of Materials (BOM) cost by 50 percent.
The VINAX V3 chipset can drive data rates up to 150 Mbps/downstream and 100 Mbps/upstream on a single line, supporting such services as HD IPTV, high-speed Internet access, multi-player gaming networks and VoIP. VINAX V3 supports line bonding techniques at chip and linecard levels that boost data-rate or data-reach for home and business users and supports mobile backhaul applications with up to 500 Mbps symmetrical data rates. It also is the industry's first chipset ready to support full System Vectoring, a VDSL2 enhancement that will reduce crosstalk in dense cable bundles.
Network equipment OEMs will benefit from an extensive set of chip-level enhancements and features integrated into the new chipset, while software compatibility with Lantiq's current VDSL2 chipset reduces time-to-market and cost. For example, VINAX V3 uses the same Analog Front End (AFE) chip to support all of the VDSL2 profiles. The same PCB design can be used for a card deployed at a DSLAM or CO (Profile 17a, supporting up to 100 Mbps downstream/50 Mbps upstream) and a MDU card running Profile 30a (up to 150 Mbps downstream/100 Mbps upstream). Higher density cards, up to 72 channels compared to 24 - 48 channels with earlier generation chipsets, reduce costs for both system vendors and carriers.
"VDSL2 is the key technology for successful triple-play service delivery in next-generation network deployments. VINAX V3 provides breakthrough performance, best-in-class feature set and unsurpassed flexibility for network upgrades and new deployments," said Hubert Christl, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Lantiq's Access Networks Business Unit. "Lantiq integrated the capabilities that leading carriers across the globe demand as they accelerate roll-out of VDSL2, including cost optimization and improved energy efficiency."
VDSL2 linecards are a key technology supporting robust delivery of residential broadband services over both traditional copper-wire infrastructure and in FTTC/FTTB networks. According to Broadband Forum estimates (June 2010), more than 60 percent of the 484 million broadband lines installed today are driven by ADSL or VDSL technology. Further, market research firm iSuppli forecasts that 600 million new xDSL channels will be deployed from 2010 to 2014. Carriers that are planning or have begun the transition from ADSL/2/2+ to higher data rates can use VINAX V3-based linecards that require only a firmware change to upgrade to VDSL2 services.

Ginga Goes Electronic for Coal Trading With Trayport(R)
LONDON, August 23, 2010-- Ginga Petroleum Pte Ltd., a company offering broking services for the
energy markets from Singapore, today announced it has gone live with a
trading screen for its coal brokers using Trayport's GlobalVision Broker
Trading SystemSM. Trayport provides electronic trading systems worldwide that
have been widely adopted by coal brokers in Europe. Ginga therefore made the
decision to enable its brokers and trading customers to benefit from the
success already gained by Trayport's broker platform and so support the
continued development of the international coal market.
Ginga will list coal swaps products (API2*, API4*, gC ICE Newc futures)
electronically and will also list Indonesian sub-bituminous (sub-bit) coal
swaps and a sub-bit physical contract. The physical contract is being
developed in conjunction with market participants and is based on the
specifications of the McCloskey Indonesian Sub-Bituminous FOB Marker Index.
The intention is that this contract will bring even greater transparency to
this market.
"Trayport's GlobalVision Broker System screen went live at Ginga today
and we hope to have an increasing number of users, both in Asia and Europe,
who will be able to view and trade Indonesian sub-bit coal physical and all
swaps contracts on one trading platform," said Zenny Tran, Coal Team Leader
at Ginga. "When we have built increased liquidity in coal using the Trayport
platform we hope to add other products; base oil being high on our initial
list."
"Trayport has provided the electronic trading system used by
JOX, the Japanese Oil Exchange, for the past three years. Ginga was a
founding shareholder in JOX and so had direct experience of working with
Trayport. The widespread reach of Trayport's Trading GatewaySM aggregator
service, with over 160 trading firms relying on it to trade OTC and Exchange
traded coal, and other energy products, further encouraged Ginga to adopt the
hybrid voice/electronic brokerage model Trayport does so well," said Jeremy
Harris, Trayport's VP for Asia.
"Ginga sees a growing appetite to trade Indonesian sub-bit
coal from producers, traders, end users and investment banks. As the sub-bit
market evolves, hedging becomes even more necessary for market participants.
Trayport's combination of physical and swap capabilities, STP back office,
risk management, clearing links and workflow aids make it an ideal platform
for building market liquidity. We are pleased to have been selected by Ginga
to provide their first electronic execution capability." added Harris.
"Indonesian sub-bit coal is now on its way to become a fully tradable
commodity and Ginga is proud to be part of the industry's concerted effort in
making this to happen. Being the first and the most active broker in this
market, we are committed to continuous improvement in our service and
contribution to market development. An electronic trading screen is certainly
a necessary next step for us to provide more transparency and efficiency for
the industry and for our clients who are located in various different time
zones, from Asia Pacific to Europe and US," said Ginga's Zenny Tran. "Our aim
is to gain market share in commonly traded swaps markets - API2*, API4* and
gC Newc futures. Ginga believes Indonesian coal assets will distinguish us
from other brokers."

China Grants Samplify Second Series of Patents for Medical Imaging Technologies
Chinese OEMs To Gain Access to Innovative image-compression technology
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 22 -- Samplify Systems, Inc., a leading provider of signal-compression technology, semiconductors, and solutions, today announced that the Chinese Government has granted the company its second series of technology patents for medical imaging applications. These new patents come on the heels of the first series of patents that were granted earlier this month for wireless base station compression. More specific, China utility model patents were granted by the China State Intellectual Property Office covering the use of compressing and storing x-ray projection data in Computed Tomography (CT) systems. CT projection data is generated when x-rays are digitized and are transferred, stored, and processed by CT image reconstruction computers. Samplify's patented compression technology reduces CT projection data bandwidth and storage requirements by a factor of four. These patents include:
Patent Numbers Patent Title
-------------- ------------
Apparatus for compressing projection data in a computed
200920173896.8 tomography system
200920173897.2 Edge detection for computed tomography projection data
Apparatus for compressing and storing projection data in a
200920179135.3 rotatable part of a computed tomography system
With the granting of this second series of patents in China, Samplify's Prism CT compression technology is now protected in a market and region that is strategically important for the company. Indeed, Samplify continues to make inroads with the leading medical system companies in China. As important, these OEMs continue to leverage China's significant stimulus funding of $125B, part of which will be used for the deployment of next-generation CT equipment. Samplify's innovative compression technology for medical applications saves medical imaging OEMs significant design, development, and manufacturing costs for the transport and storage of CT projection signals from the x-ray detectors on the rotating gantry to the image reconstruction workstation.
According to Al Wegener, Samplify CTO and founder, "Medical equipment OEMs who are developing new, lower-cost CT systems, are challenged to transport and store huge amounts of digital data in real time. Samplify's Prism CT compression technology offers these OEMs an innovative way to reduce these transfer and storage bottlenecks in a cost-effective manner. No other solution can match Samplify's low complexity and low-cost solutions while operating at compression rates greater than 200 Msps."
"Today's announcement is another example of the Chinese government's willingness to open up its markets to foreign corporations in an effort to gain access to the best technologies and intellectual property for its own corporate base," says Tom Sparkman, Samplify CEO. "We are very pleased," he added, "that we are able to make inroads with Chinese OEMs using our technology in such a protected fashion."
