The Captivate provides a premium viewing experience on its large, brilliant 4-inch display powered by Samsung's Super AMOLED touch screen technology. New Internet Fraud Alert to Help Rescue Stolen Account Credentials
Microsoft technology powers early reporting system to help protect consumers and businesses from fraud.
WASHINGTON, June 17 -- Microsoft Corp. has joined forces with the National Cyber-Forensics and Training Alliance (NCFTA), with the support of Accuity, the American Bankers Association, Anti-Phishing Working Group, Citizens Bank, eBay Inc., Federal Trade Commission, National Consumers League and PayPal, to release a new program that will help mitigate potential losses due to online fraud and account compromise. Launched today, Internet Fraud Alert will offer a trusted and effective mechanism for participating researchers to report stolen account credentials discovered online -- such as username and password login information for online services or compromised credit card numbers -- to the appropriate institution responsible for that account. Through a centralized alerting system powered by Microsoft technology developed specifically for this program, Internet Fraud Alert will quickly inform companies about compromised credentials, allowing them to take the appropriate action to help protect their customers.
The program was unveiled today and will go into effect immediately. The first of its kind, Internet Fraud Alert represents an important step forward in fighting online fraud. It will serve the much-needed purpose of enabling security researchers and investigators to more securely and systematically share information with service providers, retailers, financial institutions and government entities about incidents where compromised account credentials have been discovered. To date, when the security community uncovers compromised credentials stemming from phishing attacks, for example, there has been no simple mechanism to warn the service provider or bank about the exposed credentials.
Phishing and malicious code attacks pose a serious threat to consumer identity and account credentials. In 2009, the Anti-Phishing Working Group received more than 410,000 unique phishing e-mail reports, and recent data from the group show that the number of brands being exploited by phishers is at an all-time high.
Internet Fraud Alert will bring together a wide assortment of stakeholders, including retailers, financial institutions, service providers, technology companies, academic researchers, consumer advocates and government agencies, in the shared interest of reducing online fraud and protecting consumers. As the technology creator and sponsor, Microsoft is donating the tool to the NCFTA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to facilitating public-private partnerships between industry, law enforcement and academia on cybersecurity issues. One in three moms with children age 3- to 7-years old believe their busy schedules make it difficult to ensure their kids are reading enough, according to the new "Summer Smarts" survey conducted on behalf of VTech® by MarketTools, an independent third-party research firm. Egyptian navigable map completed and new Saudi Arabian addressing system introduced
CHICAGO, June 17 -- NAVTEQ, the leading global provider of maps, traffic and location data enabling navigation, location-based services and mobile advertising around the world, continues to expand its coverage in the Middle East and Africa with the launch of a full, navigable map for Egypt and a completely updated addressing system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
NAVTEQ accelerated its map building programme in Egypt when the government opened its policy regarding GPS mobile phones and navigation systems and now offers coverage of the country's entire road network of around 75,000 kilometres. CHICAGO and COPENHAGEN, Denmark, June 17 -- Morningstar Europe B.V., a subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. Multicore Association to Tear Down Development-Tool-Interoperability Barriers
Industry Leaders Cooperate to Drive Standards for Data Exchange Between Tools and Ease the Transition to Multicore Systems
EL DORADO HILLS, Calif., June 17 -- The Multicore Association(TM), a global non-profit organization that develops standards to speed time-to-market for products with multicore implementations, has announced its intent to tear down barriers that slow development of complex multicore applications. These barriers grow from the diverse and non-interoperable tools that developers use to design, assemble, program and verify their products.
When programmers are developing applications that utilize complex multicore devices, they must understand how the whole system functions and they often use a variety of diverse and non-interoperable development tools for this purpose. Although mechanisms exist to support tool interoperability for embedded applications that utilize a single, integrated development environment (IDE), today no standard exists to support the embedded multicore environment. To mitigate the issue of interoperability, the Multicore Association's newly formed Tools Infrastructure Working Group (TIWG) aims to define a common data format and create standards-based mechanisms to share data across diverse development tools knocking down the barriers that prevent data exchange.
Multicore platforms offer the ability to run software in parallel. When migrating existing sequential software to multicore platforms or developing new parallel software, programmers must use a range of tools that include tracers, profilers, and analysis tools. To facilitate these activities, the TIWG's first year goal is to establish a trace data format standard. A subsequent goal will be to define interfaces between profilers and analysis/visualization tools. Meeting these goals will aid programmers searching for performance bottlenecks that limit the speed and capabilities of their multicore platforms.
The TIWG also plans to collaborate with the CE Linux Forum on a reference implementation for a de-facto trace data format standard that TIWG will define. "Together with the Multicore Association, we have the ability to co-develop a reference implementation targeting the Linux Trace Toolkit Next Generation," said Mathieu Desnoyers, president of EfficiOS Inc. and lead developer of the LTTng project. "The reference implementation and the toolkit will certainly help resolve the pressing industry need for interoperable tracing tools. We will initially be gathering use cases and requirements from the industry's tracing users."
"In general, programmers always choose the development tools they are familiar with, but because these tools may not be able to exchange data, the familiar tools may build barriers, rather than facilitate application development," noted Markus Levy, president of the Multicore Association. "Furthermore, the more difficulty that users have with the tools for specific processors, the less inclined they will be to purchase those processors. Hence, the TIWG's efforts will have far-reaching benefits for the embedded multicore ecosystem."
Tasneem Brutch, Sr. Staff Engineer of Samsung Electronics, is chairing the Multicore Association Tool Infrastructure Working Group, with participation from industry and academia including: Freescale Semiconductor, Mentor Graphics, IBM, IMEC, National Instruments, Nokia Siemens Networks, Samsung, Texas Instruments, Tilera, Wind River, University of Houston, Polytechnique Montreal, and University of Utah. In line with the other working groups of the MCA, the TIWG will ultimately make the fruits of its labor publicly available to ensure unconstrained industry-wide adoption.

The takeoff is steep and fast; getting caught behind is risky. It's most ideal when a south swell detonates on the initial bowl section. The water next to the reef has been dredged for the harbor so the swells are unique. Ala Moana Bowls is at its best in summertime due to the south swells that provide the surfing community a much needed opportunity to win valuable WQS points at home breaks. These points will count towards qualification for the 2010 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing and the 2010 elite World Championship Tour.
