Panasonic Debuts Its First Surround Bar Audio Systems With 3D Pass Through
SECAUCUS, N.J., June 1 -- Panasonic today announced that its first surround bar home theater speaker systems, models SC-HTB10 and SC-HTB500 will reach store shelves this summer. Both models fit neatly in front of the TV and offer an easy to install, stylish alternative to a home theater sound system. KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 1 -- The iBridge(SM) Network, a program of the not-for-profit Kauffman Innovation Network, Inc., today announced its collaboration with recipients of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA), a consortium of 46 medical research institutions dedicated to enhancing the efficiency and quality of clinical and translational research. CTSA-IP was founded as a means of collecting licensing and technology transfer information in an easily searchable format at a single website. Interactive features allow users searching for specific technologies or areas of research to have alerts automatically sent to them when a new posting appears. The site exchanges information with other efforts, including those of the CTSA Consortium, to aggregate information about research resources lying inside and outside of the technology transfer domain.
"CTSA shares our ambition of providing transparency and the opportunity for collaboration for researchers and innovation seekers around the world," said Lesa Mitchell, director of the iBridge Network. Acquisition Actively Expands Company's Presence in Growing Canadian Hosting Market
ST. LOUIS, June 1 -- Savvis, Inc. (NASDAQ:SVVS), a global leader in cloud infrastructure and hosted IT solutions for enterprises, today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Fusepoint, Inc., a portfolio company of M/C Venture Partners. Fusepoint is a leading independent provider of managed IT and colocation services to enterprises in Canada.
Under the agreement, Savvis will acquire Fusepoint for $124.5 million in cash, subject to a working capital adjustment. For the first quarter of 2010, Fusepoint's annualized revenue was $47.4 million. Adjusted EBITDA for the first quarter was $3.0 million, or $12.0 million on an annualized basis.
Fusepoint operates three data centers in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal, giving the company a national footprint. Fusepoint is well-positioned in the Canadian hosting market, which is still in its early stages of growth. The company has more than 330 marquee customers.
Fusepoint has generated impressive historical growth since 2006, with an overall revenue compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 18 percent and adjusted EBITDA growing at a CAGR of 83 percent. NXP, STMicroelectronics, Trusted Logic and Stollmann to Promote Hardware-Independent NFC API for Android(TM)
GENEVA and EINDHOVEN, Netherlands, June 1 -- Market-leading NFC vendors STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM) and NXP today announced, in conjunction with Trusted Logic and Stollmann, that the companies are to promote a common hardware-independent API (Application Programming Interface) for NFC (Near Field Communication) applications on mobile phones and other devices running Android(TM).
The companies will release an update of their recently published Android APIs to the community as a proposal for a mutual standard. The common NFC API is seen as a central resource enabling developers to create NFC applications to be distributed through app stores. This will enable mobile phone users to access a new range of contactless applications capable of conveniences such as mobile payments, transport and event ticketing as well as data sharing directly from their Android(TM) phone.
The API is a result of consultations with various eco-systems partners, including mobile network operators, handset manufacturers and NFC controller providers. It is supported by protocol stacks that are compatible with major NFC chip platforms from STMicroelectronics and NXP and can be used for mobile phones, mobile Internet devices, PCs and more.

Shanda Interactive and Hurray! Enter Into Asset Sale Agreement
BEIJING, June 1 -- Shanda Interactive Entertainment Limited (Shanda) (NASDAQ:SNDA), a leading interactive entertainment media company in China and Hurray! Holding Co., Ltd. (Hurray!) (NASDAQ:HRAY), a leader in online video portal operations, artist development, music production, wireless music distribution, and other wireless value-added services in China, today announced that Shanda and Hurray! have entered into a definitive agreement under which Hurray! will acquire an online audio business of Shanda in exchange for 415,384,615 newly issued ordinary shares of Hurray!, and concurrently, Shanda will acquire Hurray!'s recorded music and wireless value-added services businesses in exchange for an aggregate of US$36,944,267 in cash, subject to adjustment based on the May 31, 2010 cash balances of the businesses being transferred to Shanda. The net consideration to Hurray!, for its businesses excluding payment for the cash balances in the businesses being transferred is estimated to be approximately US$11 million.
A committee, comprised of three independent directors of Hurray!, represented Hurray! in the negotiations of the transaction agreement and received fairness opinion on the proposed transaction from its independent financial advisor, KPMG Advisory (China) Limited. After extended negotiations and careful consideration, the special committee approved the proposed transaction.
Completion of the transaction will be subject to various conditions, including the approval of the issuance of the ordinary shares of Hurray! to Shanda at Hurray!'s shareholders' meeting. The transaction is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2010.

TFCC Releases Newest Version of Its Emergency Notification System, Now Called TFCC Alert®

The new site improves coverage and capacity on Route 7 from Tenth Street to South Lake Avenue, Route 40 from Route 7 to Humiston Avenue and Burdett Avenue from Route 7 to Tibbits Avenue.
This network expansion is part of the company's aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing demand for Verizon Wireless' voice and data services. The company has invested more than $50 billion nationwide since it was formed - $5.5 billion on average every year - and invested more than $100 million in Upstate New York in 2009.

Services include wireless data services such as picture messaging, text messaging, V CAST and V CAST Music with Rhapsody, and MobileBroadband, the company's high-speed wireless broadband network geared toward mobile professionals and business customers. It provides average download speeds of 600 kilobits per second (kbps) to 1.4 megabits per second, and average upload speeds of 500-800 kbps.
Strong demand for Verizon Wireless' services continued during the first quarter of 2010 as the company added 1.5 million net new customers.
